State Police are reminding motorists to obey the states "Move Over Law" after a state trooper on duty in his patrol car in Westchester County, had a truck crashed into his vehicle early Tuesday morning. Trooper Carlos Desilva was monitoring traffic from inside his troop car on the shoulder of I-87 when he was struck by a truck that drifted off the roadway and slammed into Desilva's marked cruiser. State Police said the vehicle sustained heavy damage, Trooper Desilva was taken to an area hospital & was treated & released.
Delaware County Public Health continues to report a surge in COVID 19 cases, with 111 new positive cases reported on Tuesday & Wednesday. The County has 290 Active cases, 18 are now hospitalized and 290 are quarantined, only 53.4% of County Residents are fully vaccinated.
On Wednesday November 24th, 2021, the Town of Walton Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of 41 year old Robert Smith of Walton, for failing to appear at court on a prior charge of criminal possession of stolen property. Delaware County Sheriff’ Deputies located Smith Tuesday in the Town of Walton, and arrested him on the bench warrant. Smith was arraigned at the Town of Walton Court and was released again in his own recognizance.
Families visiting the Susquehanna Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, can have their pictures taken with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the shelter’s adoptable pets. Family dogs are invited to participate as well, but must be up to date on vaccinations. Otsego County Department of Health reported 55 new cases of COVID 19 have been reported Wednesday, with an additional 22 cases also reported from November 18th to the 28th, which were in a nursing home and were not previously reported to the health department. Otsego County has 267 Active cases, with 8 Hospitalized & 2 more Deaths, Otsego County Department of Health recommends everyone, even those who are fully vaccinated, to wear a mask indoors in public, and to continue actively washing hands & practice social distancing.
Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic today at 97 Main Street in Delhi from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. This clinic is open to people over the age of 18 & Boosters will be available at this clinic, pre-registration is required for all Moderna Boosters through apps2.health.ny.gov. The COVID vaccine is also available for people who are completing their first series
The caregivers of Bassett Medical Center will be holding a candle lighting service of remembrance in honor of patients who have died due to COVID-19 tonight at 7:00 PM. The in-person event for the families of the deceased will be held at the United Methodist Church in Fly Creek, The virtual event will be held on Zoom, the link is available at bassett.org/2021-memorial.
On Sunday evening, November 28th, 2021, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of a car accident in the Town of Tompkins. 19-year old Tyler Wood of Sidney Center had 2 rifles in the vehicle, Wood is prohibited from possessing firearms, due to a previous felony conviction, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon & was released on an appearance ticket & is scheduled to appear in Town of Tompkins Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton, with one headlight out recently, the driver was identified as 22-year old Trevor Merwin of Walton, whose driver’s license was suspended for a previous failure to answer a summons. Merwin was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating with Driver’s View Obstructed, and Operating with Inadequate Headlamps; he was released on tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal 2-car motor vehicle accident on County Road 36 in the Town of Guilford Monday. Investigators reported that 22-year-old Dominique Brissett of Walkill was traveling north bound on County Road 36 and collided with an SUV operated by 23-year-old Rachel Feyh of Sidney. Brissett was pronounced dead on the scene, Feyh was air lifted by Life Net to SUNY Upstate Medical in Syracuse, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. The investigation into the cause of the motor vehicle accident is still ongoing.
The state has made progress in making high-speed connections available to New Yorkers, ranking 2nd in the U.S. in the percentage of the population with broadband available in their neighborhood, but more than one million, or 13.8%, of households do not have access or a subscription to home broadband services, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The report finds that predominantly rural areas remain underserved by broadband infrastructure, approximately 1 in 3 New York households with income less than $20,000 lacked access to broadband at home. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced significant progress with the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and the Excluded Workers Program. The amount of pandemic-related emergency rental assistance paid out has nearly doubled in the past 3 weeks, up to $399 million, enabling tenants at risk for eviction to stay in their homes and helping struggling landlords to receive unpaid rent. Starting tomorrow, middle-income renters previously ineligible for assistance can begin applying for funding through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, also Governor Hochul announced that over $1 billion in Excluded Workers Program funds have been approved for distribution to date. Catholic Charities in Sidney is looking for volunteers to assist them in their next community mass food distribution on September 28th, spokesperson Penny McKnight explains:

McKnight said that they need about 40 to 50 volunteers to help set & then distribute the food to those who show up on the 28th; McKnight said that they have averaged between 9 & 12 tons of food at the previous distributions.

Delaware County Public Health reported 101 new cases of COVID 19 in the last week, bringing their total of active cases to 184, with 4 hospitalized & 266 quarantined. 49.6% of the total population is vaccinated, 80% of the positive cases are unvaccinated, and Delaware County residents can find vaccine clinic sites at covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov or vaccines.gov
The State Department of Health today announced that New York State's youth smoking rate has reached an all-time low. As of 2020, less than 3% of high school students smoke cigarettes, down from 27.1% in 2000. The Youth Tobacco Survey found that youth tobacco use was down across all tobacco product categories, including a drop in e-cigarette use for the first time. After a year and a half hiatus, due to the Covid-19 Virus, the Mid York Concert Band is looking forward to beginning rehearsals today for the 40 plus piece ensemble made up of professionals, educators, students and dedicated amateurs from Chenango and surrounding counties. Village of Sidney Police Department responded to a complaint of a burglary in progress on River Street Wednesday. Officers responded to the area and arrested 29 year old Bradly Falkenmeyer of Sidney for 3rd degree Burglary, Criminal mischief & Petty larceny. Falkenmeyer was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court where he was remanded to the Delaware County Jail with no option of bail.
State Senator Peter Oberacker announced that community libraries throughout the 51st senatorial district have been awarded a total of nearly $300,000 in public library construction grant funds. The grants are from $14 million in capital funds for public library construction and broadband infrastructure projects provided in the current state budget. Locally, the Edmeston Free Library will receive over $92,000 for 3 projects, the Kinney Memorial Library in Hartwick will receive $9,000 for a roofing project, & the Sidney Memorial Public Library will receive over $32,000 to renovate the parking lot.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the Great New York State Fair will return in 2022 as a 13-day event, running from Wednesday, August 24 to Labor Day, Monday, September 5. The return to a 13-day event will allow for greater participation of fairgoers and vendors at not only the New York State Fair, but also at a number of the State's county fairs that had coinciding schedules. The Governor also seeks a Review of Opportunities to improve Youth and Agricultural Programming; Marketing and Promotion for County Fairs; and the State Fair's Smoking Policy.

Benjamin said that Governor Hochul has entrusted him with helping to fight the COVID pandemic & its aftermath, including the dealing of reimbursements to renters & landlords during the shutdown, as well as battling the ongoing opioid epidemic that continues across the state.
The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties’ campaign started today with the announcement of the fall campaign goal of $50,000. Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco told WCDO News that last year was a tough year for the chapter due to the COVID 19 pandemic:

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that New York will delay the requirement that state employees get vaccinated against COVID 19 or undergo weekly tests to October 12th, which is the same day telecommuting workers are scheduled to return to their offices. Governor Hochul said that Workers in hospitals and nursing homes must get their first dose by September 27th, and employees at home care agencies, hospices and adult care facilities have until October 7th to get the first shot. SUNY and CUNY students are also mandated to show proof of vaccination by Sept. 27 to remain enrolled in classes. Some medical exemptions will be accepted.

Otsego County Department of Health reported 380 total COVID 19 cases reported in the month of August, with 52% were unvaccinated which includes those who had no or 1 vaccines in the 2 shot series, while 48% were fully vaccinated, 100% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated. 9% of the cases in August were in college students/employees; 10% of the cases were 0-11 years old, 27% were 12 to 24 years old, 46% of the cases were in the 25-55 age group & 17% were 56 & older.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a neighbor dispute on July 31st, at 60 River Street in the Town of Stamford. 58-year-old Kenneth Utter and 69-year-old Janet Starkweather, both of Stamford, are accused of subjecting another person to unwanted physical contact, the victim’s harassment complaints were forwarded to the Town of Stamford Court, which was requested to issue a criminal summons for Starkweather and Utter. Deputies located and arrested Utter and Starkweather last week, they were charged with 1 count each of harassment, they were ordered to appear in the Town of Stamford Court on a later date.

Governor Kathy Hochul signed four pieces of legislation, to establish a demonstration program to implement speed violation monitoring systems in work zones to keep workers safe and make construction contractors liable for the wages owed to their subcontractors. They also require the payment of prevailing wage to building service employees at high-end co-ops and condos and extend Shared Work Benefits.
The State Department of Transportation announced that State Route 28 near Frank Slawson and Epps roads in the town of Franklin will close starting today for a culvert replacement over Knapp Brook. DOT Officials stated that motorists on State Route 28 will be detoured to take state Route 23 to Davenport Center and then take county Highway 10 to Meridale to connect back to state Route 28, the project is expected to be completed on September 22nd. Also, starting today, Old Route 17 in the Town of Windsor will undergo culvert construction; a road closure is near the intersection of 17 and Ostrander Road. Old Route 17 will likely be closed for 2 months & is scheduled to reopen around November 9th.
Gilbertsville-Mount Upton will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Bassett Healthcare School-Based Health Center at 5:00 PM Today. Former State Senator Jim Seward is expected to attend the ceremony, which will begin GMU’s Open House for the 2021-2022 school year. Firefighters from several companies responded to the report of a Barn Fire at 723 Hotchkiss Road in Greene Late Sunday Night. Firefighters from Greene, Chenango Forks, Port Crane, Coventry, and Brisben responded, the barn was fully engulfed & was a total loss, and the investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
The State Health Department conducted over 100.000 COVID Tests Sunday, with 3660 positives, for a 3.65% positivity rate Hospitalizations were up to 2334, Patients in an ICU bed went up to 519, Patients on ventilators went up to 263, there were 26 deaths from COVID Sunday.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Public Health and Health Planning Council passed an emergency regulation and the Health Commissioner issued a determination requiring all teachers, administrators and other school employees to submit to weekly COVID-19 testing unless they show proof of vaccination, with either a CDC vaccine card or the Excelsior Pass. The Governor also announced that the State Department of Health has finalized and released official guidance for classroom instruction regarding Facemasks, which closely echoes the CDC guidance which districts were advised to follow. The operator of Prestige Limousine, 31 year old Nauman Hussain, has pleaded guilty to 20 counts of negligent homicide in connection with the fatal Limo crash in Schoharie in 2018. Hussain will be placed on interim probation for 2 years, will serve 1,000 hours of community service, he will not serve jail time & he was ordered to pay an undisclosed amount of money in restitution to the families of the deceased. The October 6th, 2018, crash killed 18 people in the limo including the driver, plus 2 pedestrian in the parking lot of the Apple Barrel Convenience store at State Routes 30 and 30A in Schoharie.

State police have identified the deceased in a Hit & Run Motor Vehicle & Pedestrian accident on August 15th, or 16th as 72 year old Alan Weill of Oneonta. State Police continue to ask the public to call them at 561-7400 if they were in the area and may have observed anything. Police announced earlier in the week that that had located the vehicle involved in the hit & run accident, which occurred on State Route 205 near Country Club Road in the town of Oneonta.
Delaware County Public Health received 61 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last week; there are currently 90 active cases in the county with 3 hospitalizations & 126 quarantined. According to The CDC Delaware County is currently at high level of community transmission. The CDC and Delaware County Public Health recommend that everyone, even those who are fully vaccinated, wear a mask in indoor public locations, to maximize protection from all variants. In New York State, the Delta variant of COVID-19 has been found to be the predominant strain of COVID-19 currently circulating.
State Police reported that 27 citations were issued during an Operation Hard Hat detail in Broome County Thursday. Troopers were set up while workers completed bridge work along Interstate 81 in Binghamton; they issued 19 tickets for speeding, 2 for violating seatbelt laws, & 6 for other violations.
The CDC recommends that people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems should receive an additional dose of a COVID-19 vaccine about 28 days after a 2nd dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. The additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine is recommended only for those being treated for solid tumors or malignancies, those who have had organ transplants, those receiving STEM cell transplants, those being treated with certain cortisone therapies, or those with Chenango County Public Health will host a 3rd dose Moderna Vaccine Clinic on September 1st, at the South Plaza in Norwich from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 people Tuesday after Deputies responded to a burglary reported in the Town of Hamden. The home owner's Video captured 2 subjects, 1 with a handgun, who forcefully entered the home. Randy Hawkins of Morris was taken into custody by State Police; George Klinger was taken into custody at his Morris residence by members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and State Police. Officers executed a search warrant at Hawkins’ and Klinger’s Morris residence and recovered a quantity of firearms, ammunition and other property reported stolen in recent Delaware County burglaries. Hawkins and Klinger were charged with 1st degree burglary and criminal use of a firearm, they were arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court, Hawkins was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bail and Klinger was remanded on $40,000 cash bail. The investigation is on-going and more arrests are anticipated.

State police have identified the deceased in a Hit & Run Motor Vehicle & Pedestrian accident on August 15th, or 16th as 72 year old Alan Weill of Oneonta. State Police continue to ask the public to call them at 561-7400 if they were in the area and may have observed anything. Police announced earlier in the week that that had located the vehicle involved in the hit & run accident, which occurred on State Route 205 near Country Club Road in the town of Oneonta.
Delaware County Public Health received 61 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last week; there are currently 90 active cases in the county with 3 hospitalizations & 126 quarantined. According to The CDC Delaware County is currently at high level of community transmission. The CDC and Delaware County Public Health recommend that everyone, even those who are fully vaccinated, wear a mask in indoor public locations, to maximize protection from all variants. In New York State, the Delta variant of COVID-19 has been found to be the predominant strain of COVID-19 currently circulating.
State Police reported that 27 citations were issued during an Operation Hard Hat detail in Broome County Thursday. Troopers were set up while workers completed bridge work along Interstate 81 in Binghamton; they issued 19 tickets for speeding, 2 for violating seatbelt laws, & 6 for other violations.
The CDC recommends that people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems should receive an additional dose of a COVID-19 vaccine about 28 days after a 2nd dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. The additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine is recommended only for those being treated for solid tumors or malignancies, those who have had organ transplants, those receiving STEM cell transplants, those being treated with certain cortisone therapies, or those with Chenango County Public Health will host a 3rd dose Moderna Vaccine Clinic on September 1st, at the South Plaza in Norwich from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 people Tuesday after Deputies responded to a burglary reported in the Town of Hamden. The home owner's Video captured 2 subjects, 1 with a handgun, who forcefully entered the home. Randy Hawkins of Morris was taken into custody by State Police; George Klinger was taken into custody at his Morris residence by members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and State Police. Officers executed a search warrant at Hawkins’ and Klinger’s Morris residence and recovered a quantity of firearms, ammunition and other property reported stolen in recent Delaware County burglaries. Hawkins and Klinger were charged with 1st degree burglary and criminal use of a firearm, they were arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court, Hawkins was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bail and Klinger was remanded on $40,000 cash bail. The investigation is on-going and more arrests are anticipated.

The State Labor Department Statewide Unemployment rate decreased 1/10th of 1% in July from 7.7% to 7.6%. Outside of New York City, the unemployment rate decreased from 5.5% to 5.4%. The State Economy added over 43,800 jobs in July, bringing the private sector Job Count to just under 7.5 million, it had dropped to 6.9 million following the shutdown from the pandemic, prior to that the job count was more than 8.2 million.
New York Lottery Announced the Launch of Additional Powerball Drawings on Monday Nights, starting August 23rd, with sales beginning on Sunday, August 22nd. The new drawing joins the lineup of Powerball drawings currently held Wednesday and Saturday evenings. More information is available at nylottery.ny.gov.
Governor Cuomo signed legislation requiring banking institutions that maintain checking accounts to pay checks in the order they are received. If a bank receives a check for a greater amount of money than the balance in the account, it may decline to pay the check. However, the banking institution must honor any smaller checks that can be paid with the existing account balance. Previously, if a banking institution receives a check for a larger amount of money than the funds in the account, it will not only dishonor that check, but all subsequent checks, even if there are sufficient funds in the account to pay them.
Commerce Chenango announced that the effort to strengthen broadband across Chenango County will be getting a $1.9 million assist from the New York State Office of Community Renewal. The Chenango County Board of Supervisors accepted the Community Development Block Grant recently through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or "CARES" Act. Funds will be used to bolster wireless internet in the City of Norwich and the Town of New Berlin, plans call for the installation of wireless antennas atop already existing tall structures within the municipalities.
Sidney Police Department responded early this morning to the area of Great American for a report of a person causing a disturbance. Upon arrival officers located 38 year old Bobbi Worden, who is alleged to have caused damage to a vehicle, she became combative when officers attempted to take her into custody. Worden was charged with Criminal mischief, Resisting arrest, Obstruction of governmental administration, she was released on an appearance ticket for Village of Sidney Court at a later date.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that Joseph Henahan of Binghamton was sentenced in Broome County Court yesterday, to 10 years in State Prison followed by 15 years of post-release supervision, after being found guilty of 1st degree attempted rape , for trying to arrange a sexual encounter with an 8 year old through social media. The FBI & State Police assisted with the investigation.

The Sherburne EMS Squad received a gift from Chobani, a $150,000 ambulance. The new Ambulance was unveiled Tuesday at the Chobani plant, Sherburne Mayor Bill Acee told WCDO News recently that the old ambulance had numerous problems that would cost about $10,000 to repair, and fundraising efforts were underway to get a new ambulance, which will cover the Village of Sherburne and the Fire Departments that protects 3 adjacent townships.

The State Health Department reports that 95% of Recent COVID Positive tests are linked to the Delta Variant. So far, More Than 23 Million Vaccine Shots have been delivered Statewide, with over 52,000 Vaccine Doses Administered Over the most recent 24 Hour period. Over 156,000 people were tested for COVID Tuesday. With over 4700, or just over 3% testing positive. 75 more New Yorkers were hospitalized bring the total close to 1900, over 380 patients are in ICU Beds, 157 are on ventilators. There were 20 COVID deaths reported.
New York State 1st Responders & Law Enforcement Agencies Are Gearing up For action that may be necessary due to the heavy downpours that may come from Tropical Storm Fred. The State Department of Transportation will be patrolling areas susceptible to flooding. State Police has instructed all Troopers to remain vigilant and closely monitor conditions for any problems. Additional personnel will be deployed to affected areas as needed, including in the Southern Tier, Central New York. All four-wheel drive vehicles and all specialty vehicles, including Utility Terrain Vehicles, are in-service. Utility companies are urged to be ready to respond for issues masticated with flash flooding as well as downed trees & power lines.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is now being investigated for alleged sexual harassment by the Manhattan & Westchester District Attorney's offices, in addition to the investigation already underway by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. The findings of the State Assembly Impeachment investigation are being turned over to all who are investigating Cuomo's alleged improprieties.
Following the United States Department of Agriculture’s announcement that up to $500 million in American Rescue Plan emergency rural health care funding will be newly available, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is encouraging all eligible New York entities to apply ahead of the deadline. Applicants may apply for Impact Grants by October 12th, and Recovery Grants on a continual basis until funds are expended. The Chenango County Public Health announced that with the increase on COVID 19 cases, they are once again releasing their statistics every day. Today they reported 94 active cases, 7 hospitalized with 193 quarantined; they are up over 3700 cases with 80 deaths since the start of the pandemic. This Saturday, a 2nd dose Pfizer COVID vaccination clinic will be held at the old Label Shopper location in the South Plaza in Norwich from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Chenango County Health Department has COVID-19 vaccinations in their clinics; appointments are requested by calling 337-1660. Pfizer clinics will be held on August 20th & 27th.
The State Fair is scrapping its traditional "Governor's Day" event, as Governor Cuomo is resigning 4 days after the Fair starts this Friday in Syracuse. Traditionally, the state's Governor does a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the start of every State Fair, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said that she plans to attend the State Fair at some point; she becomes Governor on August 24th.
The Oneida County Sheriff's office arrested 33 year old Brian Marshall of Camden after allegedly stabbing 5 people Monday afternoon after an altercation in the Goodlife Bar of Camden where he used a sharp metal pick to stab the 5 victims. Marshall was taken into custody in the bar's parking lot after deputies deployed a Taser. None of the injuries were life threatening. Marshall was charged with 5 counts of 2nd degree Assault, Marshall was also arrested by Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Sunday for 3rd & 4th degree Grand Larceny and several traffic tickets after failure to comply with officers trying to stop him in a stolen vehicle, he was issued appearance tickets after his Sunday arrest, Marshall is waiting for court action on all the charges & more charges may be forthcoming.
The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown has announced that 38 previous members of the Hall's fraternity will be on hand to honor Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Ted Simmons, and Marvin Miller when they are inducted into the Hall September 8th. The induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 8th at 1:30 p.m. on the grounds Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. The ceremony will also be aired live on MLB Network. This Saturday, a 2nd dose Pfizer COVID vaccination clinic will be held at the old Label Shopper location in the South Plaza in Norwich from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Chenango County Health Department has COVID-19 vaccinations in their clinics; appointments are requested by calling 337-1660. Pfizer clinics will be held on August 20th & 27th.
The State Fair is scrapping its traditional "Governor's Day" event, as Governor Cuomo is resigning 4 days after the Fair starts this Friday in Syracuse. Traditionally, the state's Governor does a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the start of every State Fair, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said that she plans to attend the State Fair at some point; she becomes Governor on August 24th.
The Oneida County Sheriff's office arrested 33 year old Brian Marshall of Camden after allegedly stabbing 5 people Monday afternoon after an altercation in the Goodlife Bar of Camden where he used a sharp metal pick to stab the 5 victims. Marshall was taken into custody in the bar's parking lot after deputies deployed a Taser. None of the injuries were life threatening. Marshall was charged with 5 counts of 2nd degree Assault, Marshall was also arrested by Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Sunday for 3rd & 4th degree Grand Larceny and several traffic tickets after failure to comply with officers trying to stop him in a stolen vehicle, he was issued appearance tickets after his Sunday arrest, Marshall is waiting for court action on all the charges & more charges may be forthcoming.
The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown has announced that 38 previous members of the Hall's fraternity will be on hand to honor Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Ted Simmons, and Marvin Miller when they are inducted into the Hall September 8th. The induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 8th at 1:30 p.m. on the grounds Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. The ceremony will also be aired live on MLB Network. LATE SUNDAY NIGHT OR EARLY MONDAY MORNING A PEDESTRIAN WAS STRUCK BY AN unknown VEHICLE ON RTE.205 NEAR COUNTRY CLUB ROAD IN THE TOWN OF ONEONTA. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP OR CONTACT POLICE. STATE ROUTE 205 AT BROWN STREET AND CHESTNUT STREET EXTENSION IS CLOSED AS POLICE INVESTIGATE THE SCENE. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CONTACT AT 561-7400. A 35-year-old man from Tioga County has been arrested after threatening a Trooper with a shotgun. On Thursday evening, a Trooper on patrol in the town of Candor observed a man with a shotgun over his shoulder walking down the roadway, as the trooper approached 35 year old Dustin White of Candor, pointed the shotgun at the Trooper & then barricaded himself in his home. White was ultimately taken into custody early Friday morning by the State Police Special Operations Response Team, he was charged with Menacing a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Resisting Arrest, White was transported to Tioga County Central Arraignment and Processing. The investigation continues.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie told reporters that the State Constitution prohibits the legislature from impeaching a governor after he has resigned, so when Andrew Cuomo leaves office on August 24th, the Assembly’s impeachment investigation into him will officially be suspended. State Senator Peter Oberacker said that he was disappointed with the Speaker's Position, but has learned that the Senate will get a report into their findings:

Assembly Speaker Heastie said that all evidence gathered by the Assembly over the last 5 months investigation will be turned over to law enforcement agencies that have ongoing criminal investigations into the Governor’s alleged illegal activities.
All healthcare workers in New York State, including staff at hospitals and long-term care facilities including nursing homes, adult care, and other congregate care settings, will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday, September 27th. The State Health Department will issue Section 16 Orders and implement a policy mandating employee vaccinations, with limited exceptions for those with religious or medical reasons. To date, 75% of the state's 450,000 hospital workers, 74% of the state's 30,000 adult care facility workers, and 68% of the state's 145,500 nursing home workers have completed their vaccine series. The State reported a 3.6% positive COVID 19 positivity rate Sunday, out of over 99,000 people tested, or 3575 positives, over 1700 are hospitalized, with 362 in an ICU bed & 134 on Ventilators, there were 11 deaths Sunday.

Otsego County Department of Health reports a HIGH level of community transmission of COVID 19. The CDC & Otsego County Department of Health recommend everyone, even those who are fully vaccinated, wear a mask indoors in public to maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others. Since May 1st, there has been 291 cases of COVID-19 reported in Otsego County, 76% are unvaccinated or vaccine status is unknown, 24% are breakthough cases in vaccinated individuals, the overall number of cases in vaccinated individuals remains at less than 1%, 13.4% of the cases are in children 0-11 years of age, 7.9% in 12-17 years of age, 57.3% in 18-55 years of age & 21.3% 56 and older. There have 10 individuals hospitalized since May 1st, all were unvaccinated, Health Officials urge everyone to get vaccinated against COVID 19.
