The Luszi’s Legacy Cornhole Tournament last weekend successful, the tournament raised $1,600 that will go directly to Pet Street Station Animal Hospital fund, to assist families deal with the bills for emergency or quality of life care for their senior pets.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 55 year old Vladimir Suprunchik of Utica, for DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Moving from a lane Unsafely & among other charges, following an investigation into a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Unadilla, Suprunchik was located at the scene of the accident, he did not possess a valid driver’s license, he was processed on Appearance Tickets for Unadilla Town Court at a later date.
An Otsego County Grand Jury found 34-year-old Ryan Clark of Unadilla, also known as Tyler Clark, was guilty of rape, criminal sexual act and course of sexual conduct against a child. Clark's victims were under the ages of 15 and 13. Sentencing will be in Otsego County Court at a later date.

Sidney Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire with smoke and flames visible Friday night at about 7:00 PM at 826 Circle Drive, heavy smoke was showing from the ridge of the roof. Sidney firefighters launched an aggressive interior and exterior attack and contained the fire to one apartment. Assistance was provided by Masonville, Unadilla, Sidney Center, Oneonta, Guilford & Harpursville fire departments, no injuries were reported, Sidney was back in service at about 8:30PM.

The Sidney Police Department reports that on Saturday officers became aware of multiple incidents of graffiti vandalism affecting both Village property and private property within the Village of Sidney. The graffiti consisted of derogatory phrases directed at President Donald Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Officers apprehended 3 individuals, arrested were 19 year old Mara Van Kingsley of Sidney, 21 year old Harley Riglioni of Unadilla, & 20 year old Saaniah Small of Afton, for 1 count each of Criminal Mischief, Making Graffiti, Conspiracy & Possession of Graffiti Instruments, All 3 defendants were processed by the Sidney Police Department and transported to the Delaware County Court for arraignment, the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as further information becomes available.

The Unadilla Flag Day Parade will be held on Main Street in Unadilla, this Sunday featuring marching bands, vintage tractors, antique vehicles, and dozens of local fire departments. The Parade starts at 3:00 PM from Unatego Elementary School to the Community House.

State Police arrested 26 year old Ryan Gregory of Coram, Wednesday following a neighbor dispute that resulted in a man shot on Houghtaling Hollow Road in the Town of Meredith, Gregory allegedly shot the victim and 2 unoccupied vehicles. A 57-year-old male from Meredith sustained non-life threatening injuries and went to A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, he was later transported to Albany Medical Center for further treatment. Troopers located Gregory at his local residence where he was in possession of firearms and refused commands to surrender, after several hours, Gregory surrendered and was charged with Attempted Murder, Criminal Use of a Firearm & Additional charges are likely. Gregory was processed then transported to the Delaware County Jail for Arraignment.

Unadilla Fire Department responded Monday afternoon at approximately 3:14 PM, to a 2 vehicle accident involving a school bus. Fire Department units & an ambulance responded to the scene, it was determined that the incident was minor in nature, every student on the bus was evaluated by EMS personnel. no injuries were reported.

Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24 year old Alexander Gutierrez of Milford & 28 year old Jordan Gutierrez-Champen for Introducing dangerous contraband in to prison & Conspiracy, following an investigation into suspicious activity in the Otsego County Jail in 2025. Investigators were notified by corrections staff that they had intercepted a letter hidden in a bible which detailed the receipt of contraband by mail to an inmate, they obtained a search warrant for Gutierrez-Champen’s mail, a page had been saturated with a controlled substance later identified as a synthetic cannabis known as “K2.” On Wednesday, deputies located Alexander Gutierrez in the Town of Otego and took him in to custody, he was processed and released. On Thursday deputies responded to the Lakeview Correctional Facility in Chautauqua County and took Jordan Gutierrez-Champen in to custody, he was transported to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office where he was held for Arraignment.

Plans are going forward to unearth a Time Capsule buried in Unadilla in 1976 and have it opened this July 4th, as part of a celebration for the 250th anniversary of America. Gloria Meenan was one of the 10 year old students involved in the 1976 plans for what went into the time capsule, she told WCDO News about the origins of the plan:

New York State agency overtime costs increased 22.7% in 2025 for a total of $1.6 billion, while the number of overtime hours increased by 5.9%, according to the annual report by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. The size of the state workforce grew for a third straight year in 2025 increasing by 2.7%, Overtime hours and earnings have continued to surge at the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, The figures were influenced by the strike by some Corrections employees that took place between Feb. 17, and March 10, 2025.

The Unadilla Fire Department responded Thursday Afternoon at about 2:10 PM to a reported brush fire in the town of Unadilla. 1st arriving crews encountered a large brush fire making it's way up a hillside, NYSEG crews responded to turn off power lines, Firefighters were able to contain the fire and then attack any hot spots following the power shut off. An estimated 4.1 acres burned with all crews being back in service around 5:30 PM. No injuries were reported.

The State DOT announced that I-88 westbound between exit 10 to 12 in Unadilla & Otego have been re-opened to traffic, the eastbound lanes will remain closed until DOT Engineers deem the highway safe after repairs to a sinkhole.

State Police gave an update regarding I-88, which remains closed in both directions between Unadilla (exit 10) and Otego (exit 12) due to considerable erosion under the highway in the median impacting both eastbound and westbound lanes. Emergency repairs are underway. I-88 will remain closed until New York State Department of Transportation engineers determine the roadway is safe to reopen. A 9.5 mile detour is in place along State Route 7 to reconnect motorists back to the Interstate.

The Unadilla Fire Department announced an update on the I-88 Closure between Exit 10 and Exit 12. I-88 is currently closed westbound at Exit 12, to Exit 10, also the Route 357 bridge over the Susquehanna River is closed at this time, due to tractor trailers being unable to safely navigate the detour turn on to State Route 7. Motorists are urged to allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution while traveling along the detour on State Route 7.

The State DOT & State Police closed I-88 between Exits 10 and 12 in both directions until further notice, A large amount of soil has eroded underneath the roadway, this is not due to a culvert collapse, but to an as yet unknown water issue. Crews from the New York State Department of Transportation are on the scene assessing the issue. Motorists are advised to follow the established detour routes on to State Route 7, Detour signage is in place to guide motorists. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available from the DOT. Motorists are urged to allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution while traveling along detour on State Route 7.

The callers tell victims that their service will be terminated and that they need to call back to continue their discounts. The scammer then requests personal information from the victim, Law Enforcement reminds people to never give personal information, to cold calls, those who receive the latest scam calls should contact DIRECTV at the phone numbers listed on its website, directv.com

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Anthony Lynn of Unadilla for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Introducing Dangerous Contraband, following an investigation in to an inmate being in possession of a controlled substance in the Otsego County Correctional Facility. Investigation revealed that while being admitted to the correctional facility on unrelated charges, Lynn was in possession of cocaine, Lynn turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office, he was processed, was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44 year old John Williams of Unadilla following an investigation into a physical domestic dispute that occurred in the Town of Unadilla. Williams was found to have used physical force against the victim while in the presence of 3 children, he was taken into custody after a brief standoff with police at the residence, he was processed and turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment.

Nichols was found to have operated a motor vehicle on public roadway while intoxicated by alcohol, she was taken into custody and was processed and was released with an Appearance Ticket for Town of Unadilla Court at a later date.

A new report by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli details how small businesses generate nearly $1 trillion in sales and revenues with more than 3.7 million employees at over 422,000 establishments in 2023,comprising 98.9% of all businesses in the state. New York ranked 4th among states in the number of small businesses and 3rd behind California and Florida for its share of small businesses, Over 80% of all New York businesses had fewer than 10 workers. Small businesses employed 3.7 million people, close to 45% of the state’s jobs, earning an average of $60,579 in annual pay in 2023.

State Police arrested 2 people and a third person was picked up on an arrest warrant following a traffic stop in the town of Oneonta Saturday. Troopers near Motel 88 in the city of Oneonta observed suspicious activity in the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, 45 year old Ashley Darran of Unadilla, was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs, a passenger, 40 year old Barbara Walley of Walton was found in possession of suspected illegal drugs and brass knuckles & was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a man who had exited the vehicle was found to have an active warrant with the City of Norwich Police Department and was returned to the City of Norwich to answer to his charges. Darran and Walley were issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on April 21, 2026.

State Police arrested 33 year old Michael Davis Jr. of Unadilla Wednesday for Grand Larceny, following an investigation of a couple from Unadilla looking for a contractor to complete work at their residence. Davis was hired, The couple provided him Davis with $1,500 for materials, but failed to start the work. Davis was arrested and was issued an appearance ticket to the Unadilla Town Court on April 21, 2026.

Unadilla Fire Department responded to a structure fire at about 5:20 PM at Weidman Street. The first arriving unit was on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch, the situation under control quickly and prevented further damage. Wells Bridge Fire Department responded with several other departments on standby. No injuries were reported.

State Forest Rangers & the Otsego County Sheriff's Office conducted a Wilderness Search On December 25 at 6:18 pm., the Sheriff’s Office called for assistance in the search for a patient who jumped out of an ambulance. The ambulance was transporting the 47-year-old unidentified Unadilla resident from Fox Hospital to Bassett Medical Center, Ambulance personnel pursued the patient but lost sight near Walnut and Linden Streets, they searched a wooded area, about 5 hours later, a civilian notified Rangers that someone was pounding on the front door of a house on Linden Street, a Deputy found the patient sitting at the bus stop shelter and drove the patient to the hospital.

1 of the new laws going into effect on Thursday January 1st, is an effort to crack down on money laundering and "shell company" secrecy, the New York LLC Transparency Act stipulated that liability companies (LLC's) formed in or authorized to do business in New York must now disclose their "beneficial owners", or the actual people who own or control the company, to the Department of State. Existing companies have until the end of the year to file, while any new LLC's formed on or after January 1, 2026, January 1 have to submit the information within 30 days of formation.
