Emergency crews responded to an accident on I-88 yesterday afternoon at about 1:00 PM, between Oneonta and Otego. A tractor trailer went off of the road & tipped over onto its side, the driver was not injured.

The Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Alumni Association is planning the 4th Annual Fall Scholarship Fundraiser for Friday and Saturday, at the Hidden Springs Brewhouse, Norwich. There will be food & live music, The Alumni Association awards up to four scholarships annually for a graduating GMU senior to help with college or technical school expenses. Friends of Rogers of Sherburne is participating in the 3rd anniversary celebration for Hidden Springs Brewhouse in the town of Norwich, today through Sunday, with Food Trucks, Live Music & a fundraising raffle. Green said that the "Spirit of Chenango" award will go to long time area educator Grayson Stevens, the Excellence in Small Business Award goes to Build Block Building systems; the manufacturer of the year is Chenango Valley Technologies & Lamb's Quarters is the Non-Profit Agency of the Year.

Commerce Chenango will host its Annual Membership Luncheon on Thursday, September 9th at Hidden Springs Brewhouse in Norwich. This event, which is being held during ‘Chamber Week’, will be an opportunity to honor our members, who have chosen to make an investment in support of our mission. We will also celebrate winners of the 2021 ‘Spirit of Chenango County’, ‘Excellence in Small Business’, Manufacturer of the Year’ and ‘Non-Profit Agency of the Year’ award winners.

Organizers for The Ron Palmer Memorial Scholarship Fund concert fundraiser announced that the concert has been moved this Saturday indoors to the Norwich American Legion on Sheldon Street in Norwich, due to expected wet weather.  The Concert will feature many local musicians & the show is scheduled from 12:00 noon to 7:00pm.  Organizer & Local musician Bruce Beadle told WCDO News about the legacy of Ron Palmer & how this scholarship came about:

Beadle said that Tickets are on sale for $15 each pre-sale at the Hidden Springs Brewhaus, The Blarney Stone Pub, Taylor's Country House, Rita's Tavern, the Norwich VFW and the Artist's Palette, tickets will also be available at the door for $20.   Palmer was a well-known local musician who toured & recorded with Harry Chapin in the 70's, more information about the scholarship or the fundraiser is available at 244-5481.

Commerce Chenango hosted the very first ‘Sofa Soiree’ on Thursday evening, in a Zoom celebration of member businesses and individuals, who were chosen by their peers for accomplishments throughout this past year. Winners were announced in a variety of categories, Employer of the Year was NBT Bank, New Business award went to Hidden Springs Brewhouse, the Non-Profit award went to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, the good Neighbor award went to Shane Butler of the Chenango County Planning Department and Emerging Professional award went to Julia Miller of the Blueox Corporation.
