State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli & the State Department of Financial Services announced the approval of the Butternut Valley Banking Development District as a participant in the Banking Development District program and deposited $35 million in New York State funds to Sidney Federal Credit Union’s new Morris Branch. SFCU Senior Vice President Andrew Smith said that it was a team effort with the Butternut Valley Alliance & State Officials to make this happen:

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 Walton residents following a narcotics investigation in Kirkwood. Arrested were 30 year old Joseph Hahm, on 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and 22 year old Jubilee Klimas for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, both face court action on the charges shortly.
The Delaware Valley Humane Society's Shelter Saviors fundraising efforts brought in a lot of money for the shelter recently, Shelter Director Erin Insinga told WCDO news how much was raised:

4 Binghamton men who were arrested February 4th by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office on 11 felony weapons charges have been remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility following an indictment filed by the Broome County District Attorney’s Office in Broome County Court. Samear Wallace, Johnathan Ayala, Isaiah Johnson, and Jahliek Walker-Coates, were charged with a total of 11 felony weapons charges following an investigation into gunshots fired in the Town of Dickinson, they were found to be in possession of 4 loaded ghost guns, one stolen and loaded handgun and six high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, including a 50-round drum magazine.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies investigated a trespassing complaint earlier this month, they interviewed the victim who accused 40-year-old Kristen Rice of Hancock had entered and remained in the dwelling of another person despite being asked, and that Rice subjected another person to unwanted physical contact. Deputies arrested Rice for Criminal Trespass and Harassment, Deputies transported Rice to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for processing, she was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility & was held for arraignment.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Delhi February 10th, the driver provided Deputies with a false name and date of birth, K9 Dexter discovered Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, plus scales and packaging materials. 43-year-old Adam Bright of Delhi was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, plus Criminally using Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, False Personation, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator among other traffic violations, Deputies transported Bright was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to be held for Arraignment.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced the indictment of 51 year old David Gensler of Delhi, for 1st degree Rape, Stalking, Unlawful imprisonment & Sexual Abuse. Gensler is accused of forcibly compelling another person to engage in sexual contact, engaging in a course of conduct with the intent to cause mental and emotional harm, restrained another person which exposed them to risk of serious physical injury and forcibly compel sexual abuse against another. The investigation is ongoing, Gensler was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail.
The Chenango County Historical Society & SUNY Morrisville's Norwich campus will be hosting "National Author's Day" with 3 local author's on Saturday, Historical Society Executive Director Jessica Moquin explains:

Both men are looking to replace long time Mayor Andy Matviak, who declined to seek re-election this year after serving as mayor for 12 years.
Former Assistant to Former Broome County District Attorney James Worhach was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison. Worhach served under previous DA Steven Cornwell, In January, Worhach pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny after admitting he stole more than $1,000 from 2016-2019 from the Broome County government. Worhach was also ordered to pay $5,727.75 in restitution to Broome County plus a fine of $1,000.
A State DEC Environmental Conservation Police Officer is credited with saving an elderly couple from their burning car in Downsville on March 7th. En Con Officer Doig noticed flames shooting out near the exhaust and gas tank of the vehicle, he notified Delaware County 911, approached the vehicle & safely removed 2 elderly individuals from the car. Officer Doig grabbed his patrol car fire extinguisher, and put out the fire. The Downsville Fire Department arrived a short time later and determined the vehicle had a leaking gas tank and could have become engulfed in flames at any moment. The couple were unaware the car caught fire, there were no injuries reported.
Broome County Sheriff's Office welcomed 27 new Corrections Officers at a ceremony at SUNY Broome Community College, including 7 women. The 27 officers was the largest group of new Corrections Officers in the history of the Sheriff's Office, freshman Sheriff Fred Akshar stated that it was a priority to bolster the number of Corrections officers as soon as possible, when he took office in January.
Bassett Healthcare Network announced today that masks are no longer required for patients, visitors, or staff members across most areas of the health system. 1 exception is in Bassett’s skilled nursing facilities at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Valley Residential Services, and Valley Health Services, where masks will still be required for all employees and visitors. Long-term care facilities continue to follow stricter guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) based on community transmission rates to protect residents.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 48 year old Charles Bodie of Edmeston for 2nd degree Rape, Criminal Sex Act, Dissemination of Indecent Material to Minors, Obscenity, & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Bodie is accused of engaging in sexual relationship with a minor for several months, allegedly sent indecent material to the minor while he was employed outside of the State, and then Homeland Security was requested to assist. Bodie was located and arrested & he was returned to New York, he was turned over to investigators and was being held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. Additional charges are expected.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 71 year old Vincent Balsamo of Walton on an Indictment Warrant for Manslaughter. The arrest was a result of a 3-month investigation, Balsamo was charged with 2nd degree Manslaughter, 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment for a domestic incident that resulted in the death of 52 year old April Kestner of Honesdale Pennsylvania at his residence in the Town of Walton in December 2022. Balsamo was being held pending future court action.
Charlotte Bennett has filed a complaint in State Court claiming that the State is liable for Cuomo's alleged sexual harrassment of her & against the actions of Cuomo's top aides for failing to take corrective action after she reported the abuse. Bennett had previously filed a lawsuit against Cuomo, who has denied the allegations.
The Oxford Girls Basketball team finished the 2022-23 season with an appearance in the Class-D state championship game on Sunday in Troy. The Blackhawks fell to Hammond from Section 10 in the title game but earned an exciting semifinal victory on Saturday over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons from Section 2. Madalyn Barrows was the star of the weekend for Oxford as she tallied 43 points, 19 rebounds, 12 steals & 10 assists over the two games. She did all this while being sick and only being able to eat crackers and drink pedialyte. The Blackhawks finish the season at 22-6 and they were the first Chenango County Girls Basketball team to make the state finals since B-G did in 1999. Tomorrow is Election day, New Yorkers Statewide will be voting candidates to send to Washington, in the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Charles Schumer, he faces competition from Republican Joe Pinion & 3rd party candidate Diane Sare. 43 year old Ray Hyer of Unadilla was arrested in Ohio after he failed to appear in n Otsego County court earlier this year for sentencing on a criminal sexual act charge. Hyer was located in Sandusky, Ohio on October 21st, he was arrested and was extradited back to the Otsego County Jail, he faces additional charges on top of the original criminal sexual act conviction.
Broome County officials are investigating the death of an inmate in the Broome County Jail on Friday. 30 year-old Mitchell Lindow of Binghamton was being held on a murder charge when he was found deceased by Corrections officers conducting a head count, an autopsy was conducted Friday, no cause of death was determined.

Items seized included methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, ecstasy, Suboxone strips & Packaging materials and scales, The investigation is on-going.
State Police issued 11,601 tickets and arrested 189 people for impaired driving during the special traffic enforcement detail over Halloween weekend. The initiative targeted speeding and impaired drivers, began on Friday, October 28, and continued through Tuesday, November 1.
the Internal Revenue Service reports that some New Yorkers may be getting a 2nd stimulus check from the IRS. More than 9 million people may qualify to receive stimulus payments and tax credits, these are people who did not file a tax return because their income was too low. the deadline to file for the additional stimulus money is November 17th.
The Houston Astros won the 2022 World Series, artifacts from the team are coming to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Among the items donated, the Bat used by Yordan Álvarez in Game 6 when he hit a go-ahead 3-run home run, a Jersey worn in Game 2 and wristbands worn in Game 6 by Astros manager Dusty Baker, a Ball thrown by Cristian Javier in Game 4 and signed by all 4 pitchers who combined on just the second World Series no-hitter.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the State Liquor Authority is now accepting applications for new permits to allow craft beverage manufacturing businesses the ability to manufacture and sell alcoholic beverages while their liquor license is pending. These new permits can generally be processed and approved in less than 30 days, compared to applications for new licenses that currently take an average of six months, expediting the time it takes to open a new craft beverage manufacturing businesses throughout the state.
The State Health Department is warning New Yorkers about a potentially deadly virus found in ticks in New York State. This year, Ticks may carry the Heartland virus, which causes symptoms in humans such as fever, nausea, diarrhea, joint pain, and low white blood cells. The State Health Department reports that in tick-infested areas, avoid contact with soil, leaf litter and vegetation, Wear light-colored clothing with a tight weave, Wear enclosed shoes, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Consider using insect repellent, Avoid contacting vegetation & Avoid sitting directly on the ground or on stone walls.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics passed a motion Friday that orders former governor Andrew Cuomo to repay royalties from his book deal. The move is the second time the commission has ordered Cuomo to repay his earnings from the book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic.” JCOPE gave Cuomo approval to write the book in July 2020, he earned $5.1 million from the book, but an investigation by the State Assembly found that the book was written in part by state employees during their off-hours. Following the investigation, JCOPE rescinded the book’s approval. Cuomo’s team denied the allegations.
Beginning April 1st, the State DEC will be adopting changes to fishing regulations that will make fishing easier for New Yorkers. Changes include year-round fishing for Atlantic salmon as well as other lake and pond fish. Ice fishing will also be permitted on all waters, except for a few limitations. There are also new season opening dates for several species of fish, as well as changes to harvest sizes. The full list is available on the DEC's website.

Hall of Fame members Wade Boggs, Fergie Jenkins, Jack Morris, Tim Raines and Ted Simmons will be joined by at least one additional Hall of Famer as well as recently retired players representing all 30 major league teams for a seven-inning legends game at Cooperstown’s historic Doubleday Field. The Broome County District Attorney's office announced that a Grand Jury has handed down a 14 count indictment against 2 Deposit residents on a variety of drug charges. Johanna DeGraw & Marlon Graham were arrested Friday, police seized Heroin, Methamphetamines and Fentanyl following a raid on Wheeler Street in Deposit. Both are being held in the Broome County Jail awaiting future court action.
New York Farm Bureau members along with the Food Bank Association of New York State announced this morning that farmers from across the state donated 10,628,208 million pounds of fresh food and farm products this year through the month of November. That is 1.6 million pounds more of food compared to this time last year, and it translates to almost nine million meals
The Oneonta Common Council passed the resolution at Tuesday Night's meeting, renaming the City's Airport as the "Albert S. Nader Municipal Airport". Sam Nader served as Mayor of Oneonta in the 60's & was the driving force at having the Airport established over 50 years ago. The Common Council also passed the next fiscal year's budget at Tuesday's meeting.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested 32 year-old Andrew Baker and 26-year-old Terry Linen Jr. for possessing contraband while incarcerated in the Delaware County Correctional Facility. It is alleged that Baker possessed tobacco while in custody, and was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, Linen was found to be in possession of a disposable lighter which he had hidden inside his person. Linen was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband. Both Linen and Baker will appear in the Town of Delhi Court to answer these charges.
NY State of Health announced in the first 4 weeks of the 2019 open enrollment period, enrollment is outpacing last year, with more than 930,000 consumers enrolled or renewed coverage in a Qualified Health Plan or the Essential Plan for 2019. This funding includes $5.7 million to expand access to medication assisted treatment, $2.1 million to develop new recovery centers in areas of high need, and over $1.3 million for specialized treatment and recovery programs. These initiatives are being funded through the State Opioid Response Grant, which is administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Norwich City Police and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a ‘No-knock’ search warrant at a residence on Mitchell Street Wednesday; they arrested 50-year-old Patrick Gilbert, of Norwich, and 26-year-old Bethann Freelove of Norwich, for criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal nuisance. They are accused of selling cocaine or prescription medications, they were arraigned in Norwich City Court & both were remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $30,000 bail each pending future court action.
State Police arrested 23 year old Tylor Airwyke or Windsor on several counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus Criminal Possession of Marihuana. Troopers observed Airwyke traveling on State Highway 12 in the town of Greene, he was subsequently stopped, troopers learned that Airwyke’s license was suspended; they seized MDMA, cocaine and marijuana. Airwyke was arraigned in the Town of Greene Court; he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The fate of suspended Otsego County Corrections officer Ros Devlin has been turned over to the chairman of the Otsego County Board of Representatives David Bliss. The decision allows Bliss to order a medical examination of Ros Devlin, who is Sheriff Rich Devlin's son, and he can proceed reaching a decision of Ros Devlin's fate. Ros Devlin has been on paid suspension since January of 2017, after he allegedly threatened terroristic action against area school district & threatened suicide, while Sheriff Devlin allegedly resisted taking action against his son.
Governor Cuomo announced the grand opening of The SBH Binghamton Evaluation Center in Building 1 on the Broome County Developmental Center campus, at 249 Glenwood Road in Binghamton. The facility will include 50 Medically Supervised Withdrawal and Stabilization beds and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services is providing $1.5 million in annual operational funding for the program. Syracuse Behavioral Health was selected as the facility operator through a Broome County Request for Proposals process.

State Police arrested 3 local residents for 2nd degree Burglary that occurred October 15, 2017 at a home on State Route 206 in the town of Masonville. Rifles, tools and boxes of ammunition were taken, Investigators arrested 37 year old Jarred Cutting of Masonville in January, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. On Feburary 1, 30 year old Andrew Baker of Bainbridge, was arrested for Resisting Arrest & burglary, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Investigators later learned Casey Smith was incarcerated in the Otsego County Jail on unrelated charges. Smith was arrested by Investigators last week, & was arraigned and was returned to the Otsego County Jail.
Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride announced that Jury selection will continue Monday April 9 in the murder trial of Jeremy Coates. Coates is accused of Killing David Green in Oxford in 2016, Jury selection began Monday of this week and 12 jurors were selected before exhausting the entire list of potential jurors. A new list of potential jurors will report on Monday to continue selection for the required alternate jurors, that will be followed by opening statements and witness testimony. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
No injuries were reported after a pickup truck rear-ended a Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District bus Wednesday afternoon. State Police reported that 2 children and the driver were on the bus when it was hit at about 4:00 PM yesterday, the investigation is continuing, no injuries were reported.
The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting on Today in the District Conference Room at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.
State Police arrested 23 year old Tylor Airwyke or Windsor on several counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus Criminal Possession of Marihuana. Troopers observed Airwyke traveling on State Highway 12 in the town of Greene, he was subsequently stopped, troopers learned that Airwyke’s license was suspended; they seized MDMA, cocaine and marijuana. Airwyke was arraigned in the Town of Greene Court; he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The fate of suspended Otsego County Corrections officer Ros Devlin has been turned over to the chairman of the Otsego County Board of Representatives David Bliss. The decision allows Bliss to order a medical examination of Ros Devlin, who is Sheriff Rich Devlin's son, and he can proceed reaching a decision of Ros Devlin's fate. Ros Devlin has been on paid suspension since January of 2017, after he allegedly threatened terroristic action against area school district & threatened suicide, while Sheriff Devlin allegedly resisted taking action against his son.
Governor Cuomo announced the grand opening of The SBH Binghamton Evaluation Center in Building 1 on the Broome County Developmental Center campus, at 249 Glenwood Road in Binghamton. The facility will include 50 Medically Supervised Withdrawal and Stabilization beds and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services is providing $1.5 million in annual operational funding for the program. Syracuse Behavioral Health was selected as the facility operator through a Broome County Request for Proposals process.

State Police arrested 3 local residents for 2nd degree Burglary that occurred October 15, 2017 at a home on State Route 206 in the town of Masonville. Rifles, tools and boxes of ammunition were taken, Investigators arrested 37 year old Jarred Cutting of Masonville in January, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. On Feburary 1, 30 year old Andrew Baker of Bainbridge, was arrested for Resisting Arrest & burglary, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. The results are in from Tuesday's Village elections. In the Village of Afton Mayoral race, Cynthia Burnett defeated incumbent Mayor Sally Muller 58 to 51. In the Village of Walton, Stephen Condon & Joseph Cetta won the 2 seats on the Village Board, in Unadilla Paul Baldwin & Matthew Glynn won seats on the village board.
Governor Cuomo today declared a state of emergency for the counties in the Catskill regions, New York City & Long Island ahead of the coastal storm, which is bringing another round of heavy, wet snow through this evening. 300 New York National Guard service members have been activated and will be deployed to areas impacted by the storm, and a travel ban on tractor trailers on certain roads has been instituted due to the hazardous winter weather conditions, which restricts tractor trailers, short and & long tandems trailers, from entering several Interstate Highways.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s arrested 32 year old Andrew Baker of Bainbridge for Criminal Mischief. Baker is accused of intentionally damaging leg restraints while incarcerated at the Delaware County jail; he is scheduled to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on March 27th for arraignment.
State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced the guilty plea and conviction of Robert Niederriter of Kirkwood, and his business, Buffalo Head Bar & Grill, for failing to file numerous sales tax returns and remit over $59,000 in sales tax that was collected at the business. Niederriter paid $59,789 to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for the unpaid sales tax and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge.
State Police arrested 35 Year old Christopher Lindow of Binghamton for Driving While Intoxicated with a B.A.C of .29% and several traffic infractions. A passing motorist had contacted Chenango County 911 reporting that a vehicle was parked in the middle of the driving lane on State Route 26, in the town of Bainbridge. Lindow was arrested & was released on appearance tickets for town of Bainbridge Court on April 5th.
State Police arrested 49 year old Dwayne Lockwood of Guilford for DWI. Troopers were originally called to a dispute at a residence in the town of Butternuts but learned that Lockwood left the residence prior to their arrival. Lockwood was located by Troopers at a business nearby, he was arraigned in the town of Guilford Court, he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond pending an April 10th court date.
State Police arrested 19 year old Sarah Smith of Oneonta for Petty Larceny, for allegedly stealing state lottery tickets while employed at Leatherstocking Market and Fuels on County Highway 11 in the town of Davenport. Smith was arrested and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Davenport Court on March 27th.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 19 year old Isabella Crusan, of Schenectady with 3rd degree Assault during an investigation in the Town of Delhi where Crusan is accused of causing physical injury to another person. Crusan was arraigned at the Town of Davenport Court & was released on her own recognizance; she will appear in Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 41 year old Daniel Sulima of Walton, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, following a routine traffic stop in Walton. Troopers discovered that Sulima’s driving privileges were revoked, he was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with unsafe tires. Sulima was arraigned at the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $150 cash bail, pending future court action.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 38-year-old Cheryl Butler of Walton, Saturday for Felony DWI, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, & other charges. Deputies stopped Butler in the town of Delhi; she is accused of driving in an intoxicated condition with a 9-year-old passenger. Butler was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1000 in secured bond pending future court action.
Governor Cuomo announced $59 million in funding through the Weatherization Assistance Program to help cut utility costs for approximately 9,200 income-eligible families and seniors across the state. Funds will be released to a statewide network of non-profit organizations to conduct energy-efficiency work including air sealing, insulation, upgrading heating systems, and diagnostic testing to identify hazards such as carbon monoxide and mold. 22-year-old Gerard Bourgeois of Morris will spend 6 months in jail & will serve probation, after he pleaded guilty in Otsego County Court to 2nd degree assault. Bourgeois was charged for hitting a 62-year-old mentally disabled man in the head with garden shears in 2016, causing head injuries.
Oneonta police arrested 22-year-old Marquis Cunningham of the Bronx for criminal possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Cunningham is accused of having counterfeit $50 bills & driving with a suspended driver's license, he was arraigned & was sent to the Otsego County jail on $2,500 cash bail; he was released on bail & will appear in court to answer to the charges shortly.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office investigated a 2-vehicle crash on South Canal Street in the Village of Oxford that shut down the road for about 4 hours at about 12:30 Monday afternoon. A Vehicle operated by Miranda Gifford of Rome veered into oncoming traffic & she struck a truck operated by Danny Hall of Barton. Gifford was extricated from her vehicle and airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse by LifeNet. Hall and his passenger were uninjured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, & the Chenango County Bureau of Fire, is investigating a fire at 108 County Road 21 in the Town of Plymouth that claimed the life of Plymouth Fire Chief Frank Fowlston Monday. The fire was reported at about 2:00 AM, it appeared to have started in the living room. Fowlston was discovered inside the residence, the autopsy was conducted at Lourdes Hospital, it was determined that Fowlston died of smoke inhalation. Fire Departments from Plymouth, Norwich, North Norwich, Smyrna, and Sherburne fought the blaze, the cause is still under investigation.

Murphy is accused of possessing Methamphetamine, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. All were arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond. Foglianoa was also arraigned on the Bench Warrant on an additional $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond.

Investigators made several controlled purchases of crack cocaine from GRIFFIN; the case was presented to a Delaware County Grand Jury that returned an Indictment, charging GRIFFIN with 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. GRIFFIN was located in Endicott and was arrested Thursday; he was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await court action.

The Scoville-Meno Family of Dealerships announced the distribution of $10,000 to local charitable agencies. Scoville-Meno Auto Plaza in Owego presented a $2500 check to Tioga Rural Ministry; Scoville-Meno Chevrolet-GMC in Bainbridge presented a $2500 check to Catholic Charities of Chenango County; Scoville-Meno Chrysler-Dodge-Ram-Jeep in Sidney and Scoville-Meno Honda in Oneonta each presented $2500 checks to Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties.
NY State of Health, announced the Marketplace is now open for individuals looking to renew their health plan coverage for 2017. Current enrollees can update their account information, if needed, and enroll in a plan for coverage starting January 1st. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network marked the American Cancer Society's 41st annual Great American Smokeout today by calling on State leaders to protect the health of residents by allocating $52 million to support the New York State Tobacco Control Program. The Public Service Commission today endorsed Entergy Corporation's proposal to sell FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Oswego County to Exelon Corp. for $110 million. The state has authorized up to $7.6 billion in ratepayer subsidies to keep FitzPatrick and two other nuclear plants operational. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo says nuclear power is preferable to coal or natural gas as New York transitions to renewable energy. Federal regulators also must also approve the transfer.

Scoville-Meno Auto Plaza in Owego presented a $2500 check to Tioga Rural Ministry; Scoville-Meno Chevrolet-GMC in Bainbridge presented a $2500 check to Catholic Charities of Chenango County; Scoville-Meno Chrysler-Dodge-Ram-Jeep in Sidney and Scoville-Meno Honda in Oneonta each presented $2500 checks to Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties.
NY State of Health, announced the Marketplace is now open for individuals looking to renew their health plan coverage for 2017. Current enrollees can update their account information, if needed, and enroll in a plan for coverage starting January 1st.
