Delaware County Public Health
announced that the Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will hold
their next meeting today from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in Delhi. The Council is
made up of parents and professionals who consider early intervention issues for
children.  Today's meeting is open to the
public, it will be held in the Delaware County Public Health Conference Room
located at 99 Main Street Delhi.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will hold their 1st Friday Eat & Meet this Friday in Hobart, from 8:30 to 10:00 am at Liberty Rock Books at 678 Main Street. The guest speakers are Paul Van der kruik of the Leatherstocking Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Kimberly Lorraine of the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties.

The CDC and the State Health Department are urging New York State Residents to get their flu vaccine as soon as possible, as an early flu season has already started. A flu outbreak in 1 Michigan school district led that district to close with students & teachers experiencing a flu outbreak. The FDA has approved a new flu vaccine that will be rushed to the market to try to slow down the latest strain of the flu.

State Police and local law enforcement have increased patrols to crack down on impaired driving and underage drinking through Halloween. The enforcement campaign runs through Thursday and is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. During last year’s initiative there were 1,593 accidents, 226 injuries, 1 fatality, Troopers also arrested 248 people for DWI and issued more than 9, 057 tickets for speeding, distracted driving and other traffic violations.

The Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will hold a meeting today that is open to the public, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will be meeting today to oversee the Early Intervention Program. The Council’s meeting will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Ogden Free Library in Walton, more information is available at 832-5200. The mission of the Program is to enable the County’s infants and toddlers under the age of 3, who are disabled, developmentally delayed or at risk for disability and their families to access an appropriate array of services and supports to maximize his/her potential.

A Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council meeting will be held at the Sidney Library tomorrow. Delaware County Public Health Spokesperson Vera Buell told WCDO News who should attend this meting.

The Oneonta Common Council has been called in for a special meeting today at 5:00 PM. The meeting will be held to discuss the next city budget, it will be held in the Common Council Chambers in City Hall & is open to the public.

The Chenango Arts Council will feature the No BS! Brass Band on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the Martin W. Kappel Theater, 27 West Main Street in Norwich. Council Spokesperson Alecia O'Neill said that the band has gained international acclaim quickly, since they were booked a year ago:

The Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will hold a meeting this morning at 10:30-12:30 at the Sidney Memorial Library. There will be fun activities for children at 10:30 provided by our local Occupational and Physical Therapists. During the discussion portion of the LEICC meeting we will review steps of transition from Early Intervention to Preschool.
