State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli & the State Department of Financial Services announced the approval of the Butternut Valley Banking Development District as a participant in the Banking Development District program and deposited $35 million in New York State funds to Sidney Federal Credit Union’s new Morris Branch. SFCU Senior Vice President Andrew Smith said that it was a team effort with the Butternut Valley Alliance & State Officials to make this happen:

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced the indictment of 51 year old David Gensler of Delhi, for 1st degree Rape, Stalking, Unlawful imprisonment & Sexual Abuse. Gensler is accused of forcibly compelling another person to engage in sexual contact, engaging in a course of conduct with the intent to cause mental and emotional harm, restrained another person which exposed them to risk of serious physical injury and forcibly compel sexual abuse against another. The investigation is ongoing, Gensler was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail.

The Joint Commission on Public Ethics passed a motion Friday that orders former governor Andrew Cuomo to repay royalties from his book deal. The move is the second time the commission has ordered Cuomo to repay his earnings from the book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic.” JCOPE gave Cuomo approval to write the book in July 2020, he earned $5.1 million from the book, but an investigation by the State Assembly found that the book was written in part by state employees during their off-hours. Following the investigation, JCOPE rescinded the book’s approval. Cuomo’s team denied the allegations.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested 32 year-old Andrew Baker and 26-year-old Terry Linen Jr. for possessing contraband while incarcerated in the Delaware County Correctional Facility. It is alleged that Baker possessed tobacco while in custody, and was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, Linen was found to be in possession of a disposable lighter which he had hidden inside his person. Linen was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband. Both Linen and Baker will appear in the Town of Delhi Court to answer these charges.

State Police arrested 3 local residents for 2nd degree Burglary that occurred October 15, 2017 at a home on State Route 206 in the town of Masonville. Rifles, tools and boxes of ammunition were taken, Investigators arrested 37 year old Jarred Cutting of Masonville in January, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. On Feburary 1, 30 year old Andrew Baker of Bainbridge, was arrested for Resisting Arrest & burglary, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. Investigators later learned Casey Smith was incarcerated in the Otsego County Jail on unrelated charges. Smith was arrested by Investigators last week, & was arraigned and was returned to the Otsego County Jail.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s arrested 32 year old Andrew Baker of Bainbridge for Criminal Mischief. Baker is accused of intentionally damaging leg restraints while incarcerated at the Delaware County jail; he is scheduled to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on March 27th for arraignment.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Department Investigators arrested 38-year-old Jennifer Fogliano of Masonville on a Bench Warrant from Village of Sidney Court for Failure to Appear on a Grand Larceny charge. When officers responded to Fogliano’s residence, occupants locked themselves in rooms and refused to comply. Officers eventually arrested Fogliano, 37-year-old Jarred Cutting of Masonville, 31-year-old Andrew Baker of Masonville, 22-year-old Ashley Murphy of Sidney Center for Obstructing Governmental Administration. Murphy is accused of possessing Methamphetamine, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. All were arraigned in the Town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond. Foglianoa was also arraigned on the Bench Warrant on an additional $1000 cash bail or $2000 bond.

The Public Service Commission today endorsed Entergy Corporation's proposal to sell FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Oswego County to Exelon Corp. for $110 million. The state has authorized up to $7.6 billion in ratepayer subsidies to keep FitzPatrick and two other nuclear plants operational. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo says nuclear power is preferable to coal or natural gas as New York transitions to renewable energy. Federal regulators also must also approve the transfer.
