A Windsor man has pleaded guilty to Robbery in the 3rd degree. According to the Broome County District Attorney, Scott Frost admitted he stole a motorcycle and threatened to shoot the owner while he was on parole for a burglary in 2014 in Tioga County. Frost will be sentenced in December 2022 and faces two to four years.
The Raymond Corporation will kick off its 8th annual Manufacturing Day event, Celebrating a Century of Innovation, on Friday. This year is the 3rd year Raymond’s Manufacturing Day will be an entirely virtual event. State Police are reminding the public that the New York State Police PBA does not solicit money by phone. Recently, State Police have seen reports that someone from a “607” area code is contacting citizens and seeking donations. Anyone who receives one of these phone calls, do not give out your personal information and hang up.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Benedict of Binghamton, Stephen Parsons of Greene, and Melissa Johnson and Patrick Hill, both of Smithville Flats, for Grand Larceny for allegedly stealing a utility trailer and utility terrain vehicle in the Town of Kirkwood. The suspects & the stolen items were found in Binghamton, all 4 face court action shortly.

State Police were dispatched Tuesday morning at about 5:40 AM, to a report of a tractor trailer rollover on I-88 east at exit 9 in the town of Sidney. An investigation revealed that an Old Dominion Freight Line tractor trailer with a rear tandem trailer overturned. The driver, a 38-year-old male of Albany, was not injured. The right lane was shut down and reopened around 8:00 AM.
State Police were dispatched Friday to Huckleberry Hill Road in the town of Middletown for a report of a missing 79-year-old woman with dementia. Numerous troopers, State Police K9, State Forest Rangers, Fire and EMS responded to the area, plus a State Police drone was utilized in assisting with the search. The 79-year-old woman was located in a heavily wooded area off Huckleberry Hill Road and sustained minor injuries. She was turned over to EMS and transported to Margaretville Hospital for further evaluation.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 27 year old Austin DeMuth of Guilford following a vehicle pursuit Monday afternoon with a motorcycle, from the Town of Smithville & into Cortland County & Broome County. DeMuth was taken into custody, following a pursuit on foot in Whitney Point, he was transported to Wilson Hospital with minor injuries, & he was charged with Unlawful fleeing, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest and numerous traffic violations. DeMuth also had a warrant out of the Town of Norwich Court, he was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court and was remanded with no bail and is to return to court on a later date.
State Police arrested 3 Binghamton men for attempted murder in connection with a shooting in West Corners in July. Arrested were Keith Harris, Alex Shoga & Tavin Wilson, they were arraigned at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries on July 25 in the town of Union.
Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that makes imitation weapons easily identifiable, allowing law enforcement to identify a device as fake when assessing threats. The law also said that permissible imitation weapons must be easily identifiable & must be colored white, or several bright colors, or be made of transparent or translucent materials.
U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $5.4 Million dollars in federal funding for 3 Central New York and Southern Tier airports. Greater Binghamton/Link Field will get about 2.2 Million Dollars to reconstruct airfield guidance signs and to reconstruct or replace the airport lighting vault.

The dogs are bred in factory like facilities, and are physically, mentally, and medically compromised puppies sold at retail outlets, the bill has not yet been signed by Governor Hochul.

The State Department of Health updated New Yorkers on the poliovirus, following the identification of polio in early June wastewater samples in Rockland County, the virus has now also been detected in wastewater samples in Orange County. Analysis by the CDC has found 7 positive samples from Rockland & Orange Counties, which are genetically linked to the individual case of paralytic polio previously identified in a Rockland County resident. Officials urge New York Residents to get updated on the Polio Vaccine as soon as possible, More information is available at health.ny.gov/diseases.
State Police reported a 104% increase in gun seizures this year compared with same period in 2021. The increase includes a Major Gun Bust by New State Police Unit, where 30 illegal guns were seized, including Assault Rifles and Ghost Guns; with multiple suspects arrested. Governor Hochul secured $2.5 Million in the State Budget for 14 Positions for New State Police Gun Trafficking Interdiction Unit
Delaware County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at D's Pizzeria in Walton and arrested Damien Falconio on 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 1 count each of Forcible Touching, Unlawful Imprisonment & Persistent Sexual Abuse. Falconio was convicted of 3rd Degree Rape & Sexual Abuse in 2012, he was released from state prison as a Level 3 Sex Offender in August 2016 and just completed his parole supervision in June. Falconio was arraigned and remanded without bail to Delaware County Correctional Facility. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed at a later time.
Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 25 year old Clayton Truax of Roseboom on 2 counts of Assault & Endangering the Welfare of child. Truax is accused of hitting his child with a metal bottle, causing an eye injury, he was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded Wednesday to a report of a trespass in progress at a Town of Norwich residence. A male and two females were found and detained at the location, the vehicle driven to the residence was reported stolen from New Hartford in June. Deputies Arrested Aaron Gabriel, Tami Lyn Gray of Norwich and Jennifer Pollock of Norwich, for 2nd degree Burglary, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Conspiracy, all are being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at D's Pizzeria in Walton and arrested Damien Falconio on 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 1 count each of Forcible Touching, Unlawful Imprisonment & Persistent Sexual Abuse. Falconio was convicted of 3rd Degree Rape & Sexual Abuse in 2012, he was released from state prison as a Level 3 Sex Offender in August 2016 and just completed his parole supervision in June. Falconio was arraigned and remanded without bail to Delaware County Correctional Facility. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed at a later time.
Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 25 year old Clayton Truax of Roseboom on 2 counts of Assault & Endangering the Welfare of child. Truax is accused of hitting his child with a metal bottle, causing an eye injury, he was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded Wednesday to a report of a trespass in progress at a Town of Norwich residence. A male and two females were found and detained at the location, the vehicle driven to the residence was reported stolen from New Hartford in June. Deputies Arrested Aaron Gabriel, Tami Lyn Gray of Norwich and Jennifer Pollock of Norwich, for 2nd degree Burglary, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Conspiracy, all are being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

State Police responded Thursday Morning to a 2-vehicle-crash on State Route 23 in the town of Roxbury. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation revealed that a 79-year-old woman was traveling east on State Route 23 when she crossed over the double yellow line into the opposite lane of traffic, she struck a Curtis Lumber flatbed truck, which unsuccessfully attempted to avoid the crash. The woman was pronounced deceased on scene, her name will be released following the notification of family, The driver of the flatbed was taken to Bassett Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
Rochester police officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz was killed and Officer Sino Seng was injured in an ambush shooting Thursday night. Mazurkiewicz was a 29-year veteran of the Rochester Police Department, he was patrolling with Officer Seng when a male approached them and opened fire. Seng was shot in the lower body and is expected to survive, a woman who witnessed the attack was also shot and was injured with non-life-threatening injuries, the investigation is continuing.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced $387 million is being delivered to 1,452 local governments across the New York State to help boost their pandemic response infrastructure. The announcement is part of the State's ongoing preparation efforts to tackle any potential pandemic-related surges this fall and winter. This financial backing is made possible by the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, part of the American Rescue Plan Act, which provides relief for smaller local governments who have shared in the public health response. The amount local governments will receive is available at budget.ny.gov.

The hotline, 888-TREAT-NY, was launched by the State Department of Health after reaching an agreement to utilize the Virtual ExpressCare Platform operated by NYC Health + Hospitals. The hotline is available to all New York residents.
Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 62-year-old James Sullivan of Vestal pleaded guilty to felony charges of the criminal sexual act and 1st degree sexual abuse. Sullivan admitted that he engaged in sexual conduct with a male child under the age of 11 for a 6 year period, Sullivan will serve 7 years in prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision, when he is Sentenced in October.
The Norwich DRI Local Planning Committee will be holding a meeting today at 3:30 PM in the Community Room at Commerce Chenango at 15 South Broad Street in Norwich. The LPC will officially vote on the final slate of projects to be recommended for DRI funding and included in Norwich’s Strategic Investment Plan. This meeting is open to the public.

State Police responded Thursday to a motorcycle crash on State Highway 8 in the town of Masonville. 54 year old Joseph Beers of Sidney was traveling south on State Highway 8 when he left the roadway and struck a guide-rail. Beers was transported to AO Fox Hospital's Tri-Town Campus in Sidney, where he was pronounced dead.
The Gus Macker tournament gets underway today in Norwich, with early registration, with hundreds of teams participating in the annual tournament, which returns after a 2 year break due to the pandemic. Jamey Mullen is one of the organizers & he told WCDO News that this a family event:

After more than 3 months of training, the class graduated 10 handlers and their K-9 partners as certified in patrol techniques. Corporal Clark and Deputy K-9 Edge are now certified for patrol, with specific training in obedience, tracking individuals, locating discarded or secreted items, criminal apprehension and handler protection. Corporal Clark and K9 Edge will return to the Academy this fall and further their training and certification in explosives detection.

The Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 47 year old Lance Johnson of Binghamton was found guilty on all counts in Broome County Court Thursday, for the fatal shooting of Alison Salisbury of Binghamton and for the shooting of Shannon Brooks of Conklin, on August 7, 2020. Johnson will be sentenced on October 7th.

The Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 47 year old Lance Johnson of Binghamton was found guilty on all counts in Broome County Court Thursday, for the fatal shooting of Alison Salisbury of Binghamton and for the shooting of Shannon Brooks of Conklin, on August 7, 2020. Johnson will be sentenced on October 7th.

Norwich Police Chief Rodney Marsh and Norwich Fire Chief Jan Papelino will be meeting with the public on Saturday in Downtown Norwich. Both will be at Deja Brew from 9:00 to 11:00 AM for a "Coffee with the Chiefs" event.
Starting Monday, June 6,, NYSDOT will be conducting single lane closures on State Route 28 between Lewis Rd and Turnpike Rd in the Town of Meredith to facilitate a shoulder-widening safety project. Alternating one-way traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic signals 24/7 through mid-August. At that time, the alternating closure zone will move south on NY-28 and is scheduled to last through Mid-October. The scope of this next closure is yet to be determined. A new Travel Advisory will be issued as the time approaches.
Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Douglas Ostrander of Roseboom for 1st degree Rape, Predatory sexual assault against a child, course of sexual conduct, criminal sex act & Endangering the welfare of a child, the alleged sexual abuse happened in the towns of Milford, Cherry Valley and Roseboom. Ostrander was remanded to the Otsego County jail on $25,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond.

State Police updated information on Wednesday's head-on collision involving an SUV and a Trailways bus on State Highway 23 in the town of Davenport. The only occupant of the SUV, was 65-year-old Diane Bevins of Stamford, she was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the bus, 44-year-old Joanna Reedman of Astoria, and a passenger, 59-year-old Aris Vavasis of Hartwick were transported to Bassett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, 3 other passengers were not injured, the investigation is on-going.
New York’s legislature passed legislation banning anyone under age 21 from buying or possessing a semi-automatic rifle. New York already requires people to be 21 to possess a handgun. Younger people would still be allowed to have other types of rifles and shotguns. The bill would also require anyone buying a semiautomatic rifle to get a license, the legislation heads to Governor Hochul's desk for approval.
Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a Car Seat Event today at the Sidney Head Start at the Civic Center. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand from 12:00 to 2:00 PM to check car seats and give instruction to parents and caregivers on proper car seat installation and use. Norwich City Police arrested 42 year old Todd Jackson of Norwich for allegedly setting a dumpster on fire at a Norwich senior living facility in the early morning hours on Saturday, April 30th. The fire damaged the dumpster & surrounding fences, The Norwich Fire department quickly extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported. Jackson was arrested Thursday for 2nd & 3rd degree criminal mischief and 5th degree arson, he was arraigned in Norwich City Court and held on $10,000 bail.
The Bainbridge Rotary Club is sponsoring their 19th Bike A-Thon tomorrow at General Clinton Park. The proceeds from pledges will be used to purchase a refrigerator unit at the Bainbridge Community Center, more information is available at 607-226-7744.
University of Maine Chancellor's office announced that Michael Laliberte will be the next president of the University of Maine at Augusta starting August 1st. 27 year old Vincent Cavalieri was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge in Oneida County Court for injuring 2 people in a Camden Restaurant when he accidentally discharged his firearm. Cavalieri pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment, in additional to the conditional discharge, he will be resigning from the Cooperstown Police Department, he will have his pistol license suspended for a year.

Several Fire Departments responded to a fire at 775 State Street in Port Dickinson Early this morning. The Osbourne family home was completely destroyed in the fire, that was reported at about 1:00 AM today, the investigation is ongoing, one member of the family was airlifted to a Syracuse Hospital for smoke inhalation issues, and is expected to be discharged shortly.
The Otsego County Department of Health reported 3 more fatalities due to COVID-19 last week, Otsego County has had 108 deaths from the virus since it started 2 years ago. 7 people were hospitalized & County Health Department officials still report that the level of community transmission remains "high," they report a 7 day positivity rate at 5.6%.
The Northeast Classic Car Museum is raffling off a 1965 Mustang Convertible this year. The drawing will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 12th, in the Lobby of the Museum on Rexford Street in Norwich. The raffle is open to U.S. residents age 18+. Projects submitted under this Open Call will be reviewed by the Norwich DRI Local Planning Committee to be considered for inclusion in the Norwich Strategic Investment Plan. Delaware County Public Health reported 100 new Cases of COVID 19 for the week of February 12th to the 18th, with 1 more death reported. Delaware County has had 14 deaths from the virus since the beginning of the year.
The Governor's Office and the State Health Department reported another decline in COVID 19 numbers Saturday, with 170,969 tested & 2640 testing positive, for a positivity rate of 1.54%. Patient hospitalizations were down to 2,574, with 443 in an ICU Bed & 245 on ventilators. there were 38 deaths from the virus Saturday
