State Police arrested 39 year old Joshua Skobern of Johnson City after an investigation into an arson at self-service car wash in Endicott. Skobern was charged with Criminal Mischief, 5th degree Arson after Troopers responded to Enviro Auto Wash on Watson Boulevard for damage that occurred on April 12, to a car wash payment kiosk. An investigation determined that Skobern punched the payment kiosk then struck it with a spray wand and then used a lighter to burn the face-plate, causing damage. Troopers located Skobern at his residence. He was taken into custody and was processed and was issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on April 28.
UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the Norwich Family YMCA, will host a free educational program tonight focused on helping baseball and softball players stay strong, and injury-free throughout the season. UHS Spokesperson Melissa Stagnaro explains:

Norwich Police executed a search warrant Friday on East Main Street & Arrested 52 year old Delf King, following a Chenango County Court indictment. King was charged with 3 counts of Burglary, Attempted Robbery, and 2nd & 3rd degree Assault. King was arraigned on the charges & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $40,000 bail, pending future court action.

State Police announced that 61-year-old Michael Crandall from Oxford, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash between his motorcycle & a school bus Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Chenango County routes 35 & 32 in the town of Oxford. Crandall was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, the school bus had 8 children on board, a 12-year-old child was evaluated at Chenango Memorial Hospital, no other children reported injuries. The unidentified school bus drive & an aid were evaluated at the scene and did not need further treatment, The crash remains under investigation.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Benedict of Binghamton, Stephen Parsons of Greene, and Melissa Johnson and Patrick Hill, both of Smithville Flats, for Grand Larceny for allegedly stealing a utility trailer and utility terrain vehicle in the Town of Kirkwood. The suspects & the stolen items were found in Binghamton, all 4 face court action shortly.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the implementation of booster doses into the State's COVID-19 vaccination program Monday. In accordance with CDC's recommendations, individuals must have received the Pfizer vaccine for their initial vaccine series at least six months ago will be eligible, along with those who have underlying health issues. Individuals who received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not currently eligible for a booster dose, but may be in the near future.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies patrolling State Highway 10 in the Town of Delhi last Friday night, observed and stopped a vehicle that was being operated erratically, crossing the solid yellow center lines. 41-year-old Melissa Pycroft of Hobart was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or more, failure to keep right and moving from lane unsafely. Pycroft was released on appearance tickets directing her to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on a later date to answer the charges.

Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa is under fire, for saying to some state lawmakers in a ZOOM meeting that the administration "Froze Up" after being asked last summer for information by the US Department of Justice, regarding the death toll in the state’s nursing homes from COVID 19. Local State Assemblyman Joe Angelino is the Ranking Republican on the Assembly Oversight, Analysis and Investigation Committee, he told WCDO news of his reaction:

The State Health Department has released updated statistics in the last week that greatly increased the number of deaths of Nursing home residents to over 12,700, by including those who died from COVID while in a hospital. This Afternoon, DeRosa clarified her statements by stating that Governor's Office had asked State Lawmakers to wait for the administration’s response on Nursing Home deaths, so the administration could first resolve the Federal inquiry, she said that they were fully transparent with the Federal & then state inquiries in that order. Some Lawmakers are calling for limiting the Governor's emergency powers & for the resignations of DeRosa; many have also been calling for the resignation of State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker.

Chenango County Public Health reported another COVID related death today, bringing their total to 49. The report 102 active cases, 280 quarantined & 20 hospitalized, their total number of cases is up to 2285.

The unidentified 64 year old driver from the Bronx was traveling at an unsafe speed, and made an unsafe lane change, he went through the guiderail and into the median, struck an earth embankment, the truck continued & the tractor became detached & overturned and came to rest in the median between the over passes for State Line Road. The driver was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, the truck is registered to Lae Transport Corp in Newark, New Jersey, the investigation is continuing.

The parties seeking rehearing are Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society, Broome County Concerned Residents and a resident of the Village of Johnson City. County have arrested 35 year old Jason Mendez on a murder charge, after he was
asked not to smoke near a family’s 6 children in a 7-11 Convenience Store
parking lot Wednesday. Mendez is accused
of ramming his car into the family twice, killing the mother of the 6 children,
Melissa DeLoatch, and injuring her husband & all 6 children, who were taken
to an area hospital. Mendez is being
held for court action in Haverstraw town Court.
34-year-old Heather Kasmarcik of Johnson City pleaded guilty
in Broome County Court for criminal sexual act, for engaging in sexual conduct
with a girl less than 14 years of age, according to Broome County District
Attorney Steven Cornwell. State Police had
arrested Kasmarcik and Derrick Cervini last year for allegedly sexually
assaulting and raping 3 children from 2014 to June 2016. Kasmarcik will be sentenced on May 22nd.

29 year old Corey Robinson was sentenced to 15 years in state prison today in Broome County Court, for the shooting of 46 year old Erika Smith-Cunningham, in Johnson City on Easter Sunday. Robinson had been at a house party at 92 Crocker Avenue in Johnson City; he left after a fight broke out & returned later & fired a shotgun into the building, fatally striking Smith-Cunningham. Robinson fled to Georgia; he was extradited back to New York to face prosecution.

Jeremy Coates of Oxford was sentenced today in Chenango County Court to to life in prison without the possibility, for the murder of David Green in September 2016. Melissa Crispell, pleaded guilty to robbery in connection with the Green case, she was sentenced today to 15 years in prison with 5 years of post-release supervision.
State Senator Fred Akshar announced that there will be a free "Shed the Meds" event, at the Oakdale mall in Johnson City Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Drop off point will be in the mall parking lot near the back entrance of the UHS Stay Healthy facility. The trial of Jeremy Coates began today in Chenango County Court, Coates is accused of murdering disabled Veteran David Green, by blunt force trauma to the head, in green's Oxford home in September 2016. Melissa Crispell pleaded guilty last May to 1st degree robbery for her involvement in the crime.

State troopers have identified the 3 people that were found in a submerged SUV in Gatehouse Pond in Tully Tuesday. The bodies of 34-year-old Jaime Bell, 26-year-old Melissa Avery and 5-year-old Maryssa Houston were found inside the vehicle when it was pulled from the pond, Police said that the 3 were heading for a family barbecue nearby, when their Ford Explorer veered off the road, struck a guardrail & went into the pond. The investigation is ongoing & is expected to take several weeks.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies investigated a 1-car accident Tuesday evening on State Highway 206 in the Town of Tompkins that resulted in a Walton woman being air-lifted to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Joshua Crisell of Walton lost control of his vehicle when he reached for an item in the vehicle causing the vehicle to run off the roadway, strike a number of small trees and overturn. A passenger in the vehicle, 29-year-old MistyBlue Crisell, sustained back and head injuries and was airlifted to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. Crisell was charged with failure to keep hands on the steering wheel, moving from lane unsafely and operating a motor vehicle out of license class, he would face action in Town of Tompkins Court at a later date.
