State Police responded Saturday Night to a 1 vehicle crash on County Highway 1 and Little Dingle Hill Road in the town of Andes. An investigation at the scene determined that 27 year old Ethan Ray Kennedy of Delhi lost control of his vehicle & went off the roadway and struck an embankment causing the vehicle to roll and land on its roof. Kennedy did not survive.
State Police arrested 30 year Patrick Mott of Homer following an investigation into a child sex abuse case. Mott was charged with Rape, Sexual Abuse, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for allegedly, having inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 11. Mott was processed and was being held for arraignment.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Benedict of Binghamton, Stephen Parsons of Greene, and Melissa Johnson and Patrick Hill, both of Smithville Flats, for Grand Larceny for allegedly stealing a utility trailer and utility terrain vehicle in the Town of Kirkwood. The suspects & the stolen items were found in Binghamton, all 4 face court action shortly.

State Police responded to a report of a motorcycle that crashed on I-81 Friday. A trooper located a Harley Davidson that had crashed into a guide-rail in the town of Marathon. The operator, 44 year old Daniel McPhillips of Throop, Pennsylvania was later located deceased, The investigation is on-going.

Firefighters from Unadilla & Wells Bridge responded to a fire at 184 Merriman Hill Road Sunday. The fire was confined to a garage, no injuries were reported & the investigation is continuing.

The Franklin Fire Department responded Sunday night at about 7:30 pm to State Route 28 & Case Hill for a structure fire. Several area fire departments were called for mutual aid, firefighters were at the scene until about 9:30 pm, no injuries were reported, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Officials with the Susquehanna SPCA announced a black and white French Bulldog named Luna is suspected of being stolen from her own yard on the corner of State Routes 51 and 23 in Morris Sunday. The dog is a registered service dog for a disabled man, a 10 mile search by volunteers was unsuccessful, anyone with information is asked to call (607) 258-4112.

Judge Patrick McAllister has ordered the state's congressional and state Senate primaries to be delayed until August 23 to provide time for Jonathan Cervas to replace maps that were ruled unconstitutional. McAllister moved the primaries Friday from their original date of June 28, Cervas will finish drawing new maps by May 20, New York is set to hold gubernatorial and state Assembly primaries in June.

34 year old Patrick Kain of Norwich pleaded guilty in federal court to 3 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and 1 count of committing a felony involving a minor by a registered sex offender. Kain admitted that from about 2016 through 2019 he created sexually explicit images and videos of 3 different victims, each of whom was about 5 years old, he also possessed about 90 videos and 10 images of child pornography not involving his own victims, on a laptop and at an online storage account, Kain faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 35 years and a maximum sentence of 160 years, a $250,000 fine and restitution to the victims, when he is sentenced on October 6th -
The Community Cultural Center of Sidney will have their official Ribbon Cutting ceremony this Saturday at 1:00 PM, at the corner of Bridge & Main Street. The 1st use of the building will be for an art exhibit, and then many other options will be available, according to Executive Director Pat Cristelli:

Just after 4:30 p.m., Jason Johnson was taken into custody near a river bank off State Route 79 in Colesville.

EARLY AFTERNOON UPDATE:

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police responded to East Windsor Road in Colesville to check on the welfare of an individual at 8:35 PM Wednesday night, . Law enforcement did exchange gunfire with Johnson, State Trooper Becky Seager was shot in the hip & was taken to Wilson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Multiple agencies are looking for 34 year old Jason Johnson this afternoon, he is described as a white male, 5’7 and 160 pounds with a Mohawk style haircut, he was last seen in the East Windsor Road area near Thorn Hill. He is considered armed and dangerous, It’s possible that Johnson may be operating a 1996 Ford F-250 pick-up truck, blue in color with the NY license plate HZV7759, Police said that the public should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.

State Police and local law enforcement will conduct special enforcement efforts designed to deter drinking and driving during St. Patrick's Day weekend. The traffic enforcement detail runs through Sunday, Drivers can expect sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and stings targeting underage drinking and illegal sales of alcohol to minors during the campaign. State Police will also be ticketing distracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices. During the 2017 St. Patrick's Day weekend enforcement effort, Troopers made 229 arrests for DWI and issued nearly 15,000 tickets.
State Police arrested John Griffioen for Reckless Endangerment & Disorderly Conduct, after troopers discovered that Griffioen deliberately caused a traffic hazard by parking his vehicle in the middle of West Hill Road in the town of Worcester, which almost caused a school bus with 31 passengers to collide with his vehicle. He is accused of approaching the bus and shouting at the bus driver. Griffioen was released on appearance tickets and is due in the town of Worcester Court on March 20th.
State Police arrested 39 year old Jillenia Murphy of Afton for DWI, Obstructing Governmental Administration and several traffic infractions. Troopers were dispatched to Oak Hill Road in the town of Afton for a 1-car accident, they located Murphy and her vehicle stuck in the snow. Murphy refused to submit to a breath sample or allow troopers to take her fingerprints and was charged with obstructing governmental administration. Murphy was arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail or $2,000 bond; she faces court action in the town of Afton Court & Town of Unadilla Court on March 26th.

Hill is accused of having sexual contact with a victim less than 14 years old several times in the Town of Nanticoke; Hill was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Nanticoke court on February 25th.

State Police responded to a Broome County 911 report of a hunting accident in the Town of Sanford. 2 separate groups of hunters were hunting when 45-year-old Duane Wayman of Binghamton failed to observe another hunter & shot him. 50-year-old Andy Patrick of Johnson City was injured near his right eye, the right side of his chest and his left shoulder. He was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. All hunters possessed valid licenses, the investigation is ongoing.
State Police arrested 44-year-old Wayne Johnson of Oneonta for aggravated DWI with a BAC result of .23% and several other traffic law violations. The arrest occurred after troopers responded to an Otsego County 911 report of a vehicle in a ditch off of Emmons Hill Road in the Town of Oneonta. Troopers observed Johnson sleeping behind the wheel of a Pick Up stuck in a ditch, they accuse Johnson of being intoxicated when he tried to back his truck up and got it stuck. Johnson was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court on October 6th .

State police at  Norwich arrested 42 year old Patrick Seeley of Norwich  for criminal obstruction of breathing and 2nd degree harassment.  The arrest resulted following a dispute on Dan Main Hill Road in Norwich,  Seeley was arraigned in the Norwich town court and released on his own recognizance to reappear on November 21st.  The judge issued an order of protection for the victim.
