42 year old Justin Hobbie of Springfield Center was sentenced in US District Court to 200 months in prison for persuading 3 teenage girls to perform & record sexual acts and send them to him through the internet.  Hobbie was a Physical Education teacher in Cooperstown prior to his arrest, he was also sentenced to a 15-year term of post release Supervision, after he completes his prison term, he was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of about $10,000 & he will be required to register as a sex offender.


Officials with the Otsego County Fair announced that they will cancel this year's event.  Organizers are planning to hold the Fair in Morris in August of 2021.


Chenango County Public Health announced that they have had 146 positive cases of the Coronavirus since March.  They have 24 in quarantine, no one is hospitalized, there have been 6 deaths, and over 11,000 tests have been conducted.


Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced that the Oneonta Community Advisory Board will be formed shortly, as the city's citizens & Oneonta Police will discuss Oneonta Police policy, as mandated by Governor Cuomo.  The committee will include Oneonta Police Chief Doug Brenner, plus a cross section of local community leaders & residents.  Each Police force in the state has until April 1st of next year to get their policies discussed with the community they serve.


Regatta Row 2020 will continue this year with the auction of Adirondack chairs made up from canoe paddles & decorated by local artists, Jericho Arts Council Spokesperson Rachel Hares told WCDO News about the chairs:

The chairs on display in front of businesses along North & West Main Streets in Bainbridge, along with some mini canoe paddles painted by area young people. The State Health Department is continuing with research regarding the effects that Air Conditioner Filters may have on curtailing the spread of the COVID 19 virus in restaurants, malls, gyms & other inside businesses with heavier densities, Governor Cuomo commented on Wednesday:

The state Health Department announced that over 4 million tests have been administered since March, with 394,954 positive tests, there were 10 deaths Wednesday from the virus, and the state death toll is 24,877.  Hospitalizations statewide were at 878 on Wednesday.

State Police arrested 42 year old Jennifer McCluskey of Otego for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  A trooper was dispatched to a one-car crash on County Highway 3A in the town of Unadilla, the trooper discovered that McCluskey’s vehicle was in the embankment, McCluskey was arrested, processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Unadilla court on July 27th, & was turned over to a sober third party.


State Police arrested 19 year old Ryan Spence of Port Crane for Driving While Intoxicated, after Troopers were dispatched to a one-car crash on State Route 369 in the town of Fenton.  Spence traveled off the roadway and struck a tree; He was arrested and released on appearance tickets to the town of Fenton court then released to a sober third party.


Delaware County Public Health announced Wednesday that they have had 82 total Positive Results for COVID 19.  76 people have recovered, no one is isolated at home, & no one is hospitalized, 6 have died, 17 are quarantined, over 3700 people have been tested.


The Northeast Classic Car Museum is preparing to reopen its doors on Friday, July 10th, in accordance with the State’s phased reopening plan with many health and safety procedures being followed.  The Museum will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only through the month of July.  The Museum will then reevaluate whether to expand operating hours for the month of August.

Governor Cuomo announced today that the state now has over 251,690 cases of the Coronavirus, Hospitalizations are down to 16,076 & the number of deaths statewide was 441 Monday, making the state death toll at 14,788. The Governor said that the plans going forward are for the re-opening of the state on a regional basis, they need to ramp up testing as soon as possible before sending people back to work, & then they must track down the people associated with anyone who tests positive:

The Governor said that some Hospitals will also be allowed to perform elective surgeries, where the Corona Virus is reported in much smaller number, and where the lack of activity led to some hospitals actually laying off employees in spite of the pandemic.


Delaware County Public Health reported that they had no new positive coronavirus cases Monday, they still have 62 confirmed cases, with 8 cases referred back to the patients home county, 4 are hospitalized, 17 are isolating at home, 4 have died & 75 are quarantined.


Chenango County Public Health announced their latest Coronavirus stats today.  They have 78 total cases, with 7 in a hospital, 47 recoveries, and 149 people are in quarantine.


The Sidney Town Board will meet Thursday April 23rd at 7:00 PM; the meeting will be available for viewing on "Zoom".  Also, the Sidney Town Clerk’s office has a walk up window to do business and keep the social distance. Hours are Monday -Thursday 9:00 to 4:00 to Fridays 9:00 to Noon.

Sidney School District Superintendent Eben Bullock announced that the district will continue to provide food services, with a bulk food delivery on Wednesday, All food deliveries will be door to door for those that have signed up.  More information is available at 561-7703.


Broome County Health department reported Monday that they now have 215 positive cases of the Coronavirus; they now report 11 deaths, 339 in quarantine & 49 recoveries.


State Senator Fred Akshar is asking constituents to answer his latest online survey regarding Reopening New York State, Questions include "Do you support or oppose a regional reopening plan for New York State versus a one-size-fits all approach for both upstate and downstate, & How do you feel about returning to restaurants and retail stores if Governor Cuomo eases the current restrictions.  The survey can be found at Akshar.NYSenate.Gov.


The Village of Bainbridge Board of trustees will hold their next meeting today at 6:30 PM.  The meeting will be held remotely, those who are interested in viewing the meeting should call the village clerk's office at 967-7373 to get the code.

New York State has tested over 32,000
people, & there are more than 7100 cases of the Corona Virus with 35
deaths, so Governor Cuomo today announced that that 100% of employees of non-essential
must now stay home:

Cuomo said that they are
concentrating on acquiring more hospital beds in existing facilities, hospital
beds for makeshift sites that are not in use for their usual purposes and above
all, Ventilators for those in the ICU Units with the Coronavirus.  New York will implement a 90-day moratorium
on evictions for residential and commercial tenants.


On Monday, a Red Cross EMERGENCY
Blood Drive will be held at the Sidney Fire Department Training Center on River
Street.  Blood supplies are extremely low
as a number of Blood Drives were cancelled due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the
blood drive will be held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday.


The State DEC and NYSERDA announced
that more than $24 million is now available to replace diesel-powered transit
buses with new all-electric transit buses.
As part of the state’s $127.7 million allocation of the federal
Volkswagen Settlement, NYSERDA will administer approximately $18.4 million to
fund the new electric transit buses through the New York Truck Voucher
Incentive Program and the New York Power Authority will manage $6 million for
associated charging infrastructure.


The National Baseball Hall of Fame’s
collection of documents, oral histories and video is available online for fans,
while the museum is closed to the public due to the COVID 19 situation.  The Museum’s Digital Collection is available
at collection.baseballhall.org; historic videos are also located on the Hall of
Fame's YouTube channel.


BC Transit announced today that they
will not be collecting fares from riders, and partitions have been set up to
keep riders at least 6 feet away from each other.  Intense cleaning of the busses has been
continuing over the last 3 weeks.


Delaware County
Officials announced today that the Solid Waste Site is still open, but that are
asking visitors to visit as little as possible and to get in and out as quickly
as possible.  Also, Effective Saturday
March 20 the SWMC will operate on a cashless pre-paid debit basis only, for
customers wishing to dispose of construction & demolition debris,
furniture, and any waste items subject to tipping disposal fee. More

The Small Business Administration
announced that the statewide disaster declaration for New York is now in place,

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans online at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.  Green also said that those businesses that
want to get the exemption forms that want to be considered as
"Essential" can get it at Commercechenango.com.


State Senator Fred Akshar today
announced a new resource available to his constituents in the 52nd Senate
District seeking information on the government's response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19
public health crisis.  Akshar and his
staff have posted a collection information and resources related to Coronavirus
on his website, Akshar.NYSenate.Gov.


Bassett Healthcare Network announced
that all elective surgeries are being postponed during the response to the
COVID-19 pandemic. This includes non-essential medical, surgical and dental
procedures at all Bassett Healthcare Network hospitals and outpatient surgical
facilities.


The Otsego County Planning Department
announced that Otsego Express Routes 5, 6, 9 are all suspended starting Monday
March until further notice.


The Jericho Arts Council announced
that the David Davis & the Warrior River Boys concert scheduled for
Saturday March 21st has been cancelled due to concerns about the Coronavirus.

Emergency crews in Chenango County closed down State Route 12 following the report of a 1 car crash at about 9:45 this morning near Greene.  Early reports stated that the vehicle in question rolled over & caught fire, with at least 1 person trapped inside.  WCDO News will have more details as they become available.


The Village of Bainbridge
announced that their crews repaired a Water Main Break today.  The leak was discovered at about 11:00 AM
today in a 4" water main near Lambrecht's auction property, Village Water
customers on Guilford Road, Searles Hill Road, Bliss Road & Crest Drive
were affected, the repair was completed at about 12:30 this afternoon, some
residents may experience muddy water, they are advised to let it run until the
water clears.


The Jericho Arts Council is
looking to sponsor 20 artists for their annual Regatta Row Sidewalk display,
prior to the General Clinton Canoe Regatta.
The artists will again work with Adirondack Chairs made out of canoe

State Police have arrested a
Town of Mohawk man, accused of fatally shooting his father.  Trooper responded after a 911 call from 20
year old Alexander Eller at around 5:45 this morning, who admitted that he had
shot his father.  56-year-old Dallas
Eller Jr. was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, he was pronounced dead
at the scene,   Alexander Eller is in
police custody, charges & court action are pending.


The New York Mets have announced
Lorenzo Bundy as the Rumble Ponies manager for the 2020 season. Bundy replaces
Kevin Boles, who was promoted to minor league field coordinator after managing
the Rumble Ponies for one season.  Bundy
has most recently managed in the Mexican League. He won three championships and
was named Manager of the Year twice during his time in the Mexican League.  The Rumble Ponies open their season at home
on April 9 against the Akron RubberDucks.


The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of
28 year old Tanner Leone of Norwich for violating the terms of his parole from previous
charges of Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Assault.  Deputies took custody of Leone following a lengthy
high speed vehicle pursuit, he was additionally charged with Reckless
Endangerment, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer and multiple traffic offenses,   Leone was arraigned in the City of Norwich
Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000
bond & faces court action in the Town of New Berlin Court on Wednesday.


Otsego County Sheriff’s department arrested 39 year old
James Sitts of Laurens for the theft of a motor vehicle 1 day after being
released from jail on the new bail reform law on a Burglary Charge.  Sitts was charged with Grand Larceny &
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property following an investigation into a report
of a stolen pickup truck in the Town of Laurens.  Sitts was released on from jail on December
31st after being held in Otsego County Jail for Burglary, he was arraigned on
the new charges & was remanded back to the Otsego County Jail.


A.O. Fox Hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open its
new Food “Farmacy” program this afternoon at their Tri-Town Campus in
Sidney.  The prescription food location
will provide emergency food, education, and navigation services to patients and
their families in need, according to Program coordinator Sarah Buttice:

Fox is partnering with a number of local businesses and food
pantries for supplies, practitioners will create referrals based on key social
determinants or diagnoses that place patients at risk for food insecurity.


State Police arrested 44 year old Steven Haney of Franklin,
last month for Aggravated DWI with a B.A.C of .18%.  Troopers were dispatched by Delaware County
911 to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway in the town of Franklin.  The troopers observed Haney in the running
vehicle and sleeping in the driver’s seat.
Haney failed standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently
arrested.  Haney was processed and
released on appearance tickets to the town of Franklin court.


State Police arrested 38 year old Gary Jennings Jr. of
Unadilla for the felony Aggravated Driving While Impaired by Drugs with Child
as Passenger.   A trooper was dispatched
by Otsego County 911 to a report of a one-car rollover on State Route 7 near
State Route 357.  Jennings was operating
the vehicle and had a 1-year-old in the vehicle with him when he crashed.  Both Jennings and the child were transported
to A.O Fox Hospital for observation and were released.

Governor Cuomo unveiled a
proposal to help grow New York's craft beverage manufacturing industry by
reforming antiquated prohibition-era laws that will remove barriers to new
investments. The Governor's proposal will make it easier for movie theaters to
sell alcoholic beverages; and modernize New York's Alcoholic Beverage Control
law to help higher education institutions train the next generation of the
craft beverage workforce. The bill would also create a post-secondary
institution program license to meet growing workforce demand.


The State Health Department
reported a sharp increase in the number of laboratory-confirmed flu cases and
hospitalizations statewide.  The past
week saw another sharp increase in flu cases. Last week, 9,211
laboratory-confirmed flu cases were reported to the State Department of Health,
a 74-percent increase in cases from the week prior. This flu season, 22,763
laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported to the Department. The number of
weekly hospitalizations has also increased, with 1,387 New Yorkers hospitalized
for lab confirmed influenza, up 119 percent from last week. So far this season
in New York, 3,592 flu-related hospitalizations and one flu-associated
pediatric death have been reported.


State Police arrested an East
Meredith man twice last month for driving while ability impaired by drugs.   On December 8th, troopers arrested 65 year
old Peter Maguire after they were dispatched to the Mirabito Gas Station in
Bainbridge after employees observed Maguire stumble out of a vehicle and then
sit at a table and fall asleep.  On
December 14th, State Police arrested Maguire again after they were dispatched
to the report of an unconscious male parked in a gas station parking lot in the
town of Davenport, Troopers located Maguire in the driver’s seat with his keys
in the ignition, he failed sobriety tests, he was arrested & was arraigned
in the town of Harpersfield court and released on his own recognizance.  Maguire will appear in town of Bainbridge
court on January 7th.


State Police arrested 36 year
old Elizabeth Fabricius of Afton for Aggravated DWI with a BAC of .18%.  Fabricius was stopped on Interstate 88 in the
town of Sidney when a trooper initiated a traffic stop for vehicle and traffic
violations, she was processed then released to a sober third party & faces
court action in the town of Sidney court on January 9th.


The Otsego County Chamber will be hosting CEO Tim Johnson of
Otsego Electric Cooperative for Coffee and Connections morning mixer this
morning at 8:30 AM.  The event will be
held at the Otsego Now/Chamber office 189 Main Street 5th floor Oneonta.


The Jericho Arts Council is hosting a show with Susquehanna
String Band tonight at the Town Hall Theater.
The Susquehanna String Band show will begin at 7:00 PM, tickets can be

State Police & local law enforcement agencies are hosting “Coffee with a Cop” on Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at The Tulip and The Rose Café at 435 Main Street in Franklin.  The public is invited to talk with law enforcement about concerns and ask questions.
