Delaware Opportunities has received additional funds for the dairy distributions, they will have 2 additional distributions to the summer/fall schedule onsite in Hamden on September 8th and October 13th. Registration for both will go live one week prior, as always. There is NO dairy distribution in August, just the food distribution on August 24th, Delaware Opportunities will be distributing back to school supplies again this year, There are income eligibility requirements, more information will be released in the coming weeks.
1 of the women that accused Governor Cuomo of Sexual Harassment has filed a criminal complaint with the Albany County Sheriff's Department. The woman claimed that the Governor reached under her blouse and groped her breast in his office at the Executive Mansion, among other sexual advances. The State Assembly's Judiciary Committee has given Cuomo's Legal team's deadline of August 13th to provide additional evidence in his defense, Cuomo said that he is not planning to resign.

The State Health Department reported today that almost 72% of adult New Yorkers have received at least 1 COVID 19 Vaccine & 65.1% have completed their vaccine series. The Statewide 7 day rolling average for Positive COVID tests is .39%; The Southern Tier Counties is slightly higher at .42%.
Oneonta area Motorists are reminded that NYSEG and DDS Companies will be digging at Woodside Avenue & East Street today, through Friday. Additional information is available by calling the Department of Public Service at 432-2100.
The Unadilla Valley Central School District will host a 5K run/walk at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, for 14 year old Cooper Hine, who is a Unadilla Valley 8th Grader, who was seriously injured in an ATV crash in New Berlin recently. Another fundraising chicken barbecue and Chinese auction will follow at the South New Berlin Fire Department on July 17th. Hine is hospitalized at the Upstate Medical center in Syracuse.

State Police responded Saturday to an ATV crash in the town of Davenport. 35-year-old Raina Andrews of Davenport was operating the vehicle, when it exited the roadway, struck a ditch and she was ejected. Andrews was transported by LifeNet to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries. The investigation is on-going.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Walton resident June 19th on Delaware Street in the Village of Walton. Deputies observed a speeding vehicle traveling north on Delaware Street, they stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 28-year old Kassondra Pierce of Walton, A routine DMV inquiry revealed that Pierce’s driving privileges and vehicle registration were suspended due to an insurance lapse. Pierce was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle, speeding, operating an uninspected motor vehicle as well as other charges, her vehicle was towed from the scene & she was released to appear in the Village of Walton Court on a later date.

Officials announced the new name of the former NYSEG Stadium on Henry Street in Binghamton to Mirabito Stadium today. Mirabito Energy Products President Joe Mirabito told WCDO News he was approached by Binghamton Binghamton Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes about the Stadium sponsorship earlier this year & they could not pass the opportunity up:

Bayne said that NYSEG will continue to support Binghamton Rumble Ponies Baseball in a variety of ways behind the scenes, but from now on, the home of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be called "Mirabito Stadium."
State Police and local law enforcement statewide will increase patrols to combat drunk, impaired, and reckless driving throughout Memorial Day weekend. The enforcement period started today and runs through Tuesday, June 1st. Memorial Day is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year and Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols by State Police and local law enforcement agencies. Last year, Police issued over 8,000 Tickets over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.
The Annual Re-dedication Ceremony will be held at the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park on River Street, tomorrow at 11:00 AM. There is a new section to the wall, Visitors are advised to bring their own chairs & Masks will be required and social distancing should be maintained.
On Saturday, The Rolling Antiquers will be holding a free vintage car cruise-in at East Park in Norwich, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. East Park Place Street will be cordoned off, with the capacity to hold 40 cars, cars will be rotated throughout the day, COVID guidelines will be followed.

Temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on State highways will be suspended until Tuesday, to ease travel throughout Memorial Day weekend. Road work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs. Motorists are also urged to abide by New York's Move Over Law and to utilize the 64 text stops located statewide for texting, making phone calls, and other non-driving tasks.
Delaware County Public Health released their weekly COVID 19 report, with 14 new cases 16 active cases 2 hospitalized, and 69 quarantined, they report 2385 total cases and 47 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
This year’s Bainbridge Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday @ 10:30 am. Parade organizers said that anyone is welcome to participate, participants will be lining up on Pruyn Street near Payne’s Cranes, before 10:00 am. 47 year old Kristina Hand of Morris was sentenced in federal court to 2 years of probation, she was ordered to serve 50 hours of community service & pay $34,000 in restitution, for stealing that amount from the Morris Central School District, while serving as school treasurer from 2014 to 2020. Hand pleaded guilty to 2 counts of federal program theft, she admitted she stole about $24,000 by depositing checks payable to the school district into bank accounts that she controlled, and for stealing at least $10,000 more by using the school district’s Amazon account and credit cards to purchase personal items.
Identity thefts in New York surged during the pandemic with more than 67,000 complaints filed statewide in 2020, which was 85 percent more than the previous year and more than four times the annual total from a decade earlier, according to a report released today by New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Credit card fraud was the most common type of identity theft reported last year, with nearly 25,000 New Yorkers victimized.
The State Clinical Advisory Task Force approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for 12 - 15-year-olds. All New York State vaccination sites are open for walk-in appointments to all eligible individuals. Appointments can be made through the Am I Eligible tool or by calling 1-833-NYS-4-VAX.
Sidney Village Crews will be turning the water off this afternoon along West Main Street from Sunset to Pearl Street. The water will be shut off at around 2:30 PM for a couple of hours, as work is conducted on the water main near the Sidney High School.

About 1,300 members of SUNY Oneonta’s graduating class will be recognized tomorrow during 2021 commencement exercises that include virtual and in-person components, including an opportunity to cross the stage and hear their name called. The virtual ceremony is a full commencement program that will air Saturday, with 4 ceremonies based on academic major: School of Economics and Business at 9 a.m.; School of Education, Human Ecology, and Sports Studies at 11 a.m.; School of Liberal Arts at 1 p.m.; and School of Sciences at 3 p.m.
The State DOT is advising motorists that starting today; the right lanes of US Route 11 northbound and southbound in the Town of Dickinson in Broome County will be closed for approximately 1 year to re-construct the interchange of Exit 5 on I-81. During that time, the on and off ramps of I 81 northbound at Exit 5 will both be reduced to one lane. Travelers on US 11 should expect minor to moderate delays at peak commuting times. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.

The total number of COVID hospitalizations on Sunday was 3,834; of the 296,240 tests reported, 8,235 or 2.78% were positive, there were 58 fatalities.
Chenango County Public reported that they were down to 99 Active Cases, 455 Active Quarantines & 8 hospitalizations & a total of 3091 total cases. There have been 2816 Recoveries, 72 deaths; they have conducted over 101,000 Tests Performed.
The New Jersey Devils Hockey Team announced that they are terminating their minor league agreement with Binghamton after this season. The Binghamton Devils have been playing at another venue this season in New Jersey due to COVID concerns & New York's Regulations regarding mass gatherings.
State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating missing runaway, 16 year old Hannah Riley of Windsor. Police reported that Hannah never returned home from school last Thursday, April 15th, she was last seen wearing sweatpants, a pink sweatshirt with the word “Fly” on it, teal crocs and carrying a pink backpack with the word “Champion” on it, she did not have a cell phone with her. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies & SUNY Delhi University Police responded to a physical domestic disturbance involving a weapon on Main Street in Delhi last week. Deputies arrested 59 year-old Alan Reese with 2nd degree burglary, Criminal contempt & criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reese is accused of unlawfully entering a residence in violation of an order of protection and engaging in a domestic dispute with the victim. Reese was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail pending his re-appearance in the Town of Hamden Court on a later date.
State Police arrested 29 year old Matthew Bonser of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania for 1st degree Assault, Burglary & Robbery, he was also charged as a Fugitive for Justice in Pennsylvania. Police responded Saturday to a violent altercation in the Town of Barker, where Bonser allegedly broke into a residence & attacked a 71 year old resident, who was taken to Wilson Hospital. Bonser is accused of going to another residence & threatening the occupant with a knife & stealing his car. Bonser was spotted by a Broome County Deputy & Troopers, he was pursued until he crashed into another vehicle and a pole on Colesville Road. Bonser & the 87 year old driver in that crash were taken to Wilson Hospital. Bonser was processed at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
The Norwich Family YMCA announces the postponement of the 25th Anniversary Gus Macker Basketball in Downtown Norwich. With State guidelines for large scale events in New York State as they currently stand, Macker organizers cannot successfully manage a large "open access" event in our community and requirements as it would add extra costs to the implementation, they hope to have the 25th Macker tournament in July 2022 in Norwich.
The Rolling Antiquers of Chenango County announced that they are canceling their Memorial Day Weekend Car show this year. Organizers hope to hold their next show in 2022.

Governor Cuomo today announced that State Police and local
law enforcement will increase patrols to crack down on impaired driving and
underage drinking through Halloween. This special enforcement campaign runs
from today through Friday, November 1st.
Motorists can expect a number of sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI
patrols, Law enforcement will also be looking for motorists who are using their
phones and other electronic devices while behind the wheel. Drivers should also remember to "move
over" for emergency and hazard vehicles stopped on the side of the road.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 46 year old
Lyman McCann of Walton for Obstructing Governmental Administration & on a
Parole Warrant issued by the State Department of Corrections. McCann is accused of physically obstructed
the administration of law, he was remanded to Delaware County Correctional
Facility without bail, He was also
issued an appearance ticket to appear before the Town of Walton Court at a
later date to answer for the Obstructing Charge.
Adoption fees at the Susquehanna SPCA will be waived
tomorrow with the donation of cat, dog or kitten food. The "Howl'oween Pet Adoption Event"
will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday at the shelter on state Highway
28, in Cooperstown. Officials said that

truck- pedestrian accident at State Highway 10 and Pines Brook Road in the Town
of Walton. 70-year-old Edmund Jones of
Walton had stopped his vehicle to assist a turtle in crossing the roadway; he
was struck by a truck operated by 62 year-old Edward Sprague of Walton. Jones sustained serious internal injuries
& was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, State Police Commercial Vehicle
Enforcement Unit inspected Sprague’s truck, which was taken out of service due
to a number of safety violations.
Sheriff’s Deputies anticipate tickets to be issued upon completion of
the investigation.
The Sidney Police Department will be participating in
collecting unwanted, outdated or unused prescription or over-the-counter
medications for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday from 10:00 AM
to 2:00 PM. Sidney Police remind residents
that they will not be collecting needles, liquid medications or illegal
substances at this event, at the Sidney Police Department on Liberty Street.

State Police are investigating a 1 vehicle crash on State
Route 7 near Harpursville, where the car struck a tree. A passenger was killed and the name of the
driver or the driver's status has not yet been released.
Delaware County Sheriff’s department announced that
indictments were handed down by a Grand jury against 2 area women on drug
charges. 43-year-old Crystal Smith of
Endicott and 31-year-old Anna Kellam of Hancock were charged with criminal sale
of a controlled substance independently of each other, in Hancock. Kellam was already being held in the Delaware
County Jail on an unrelated charge, she is accused of selling prescription
drugs illegally in Hancock on 3 occasions. Endicott Police arrested Smith last
week on a warrant for allegedly selling Suboxone in Hancock on two
occasions. Kellam is being held on
$15,000 bail, Smith was being held in the Delaware County Jail without bail.

board 239 subcommittee approved a measure on the town of Guilford’s Renewable
energy law this morning, Town of Guilford Supervisor & County Planning

where the board will review the SEQR environmental Application; they may act on
it, and possibly act on the Renewable Energy Law. The Energy law proposal follows a proposal by
Calpine to erect up to 30 wind turbines in the town of Guilford. A Group known as the Concerned Citizens of
Guilford opposes the plan and is questioning the legality of the process the
town is using with its renewable energy law.
The State Department of Agriculture & Markets announced
the presence of Listeria in raw milk collected from the Muddy River Dairy of
Otego. Anyone who purchased raw milk
from Muddy River Dairy should dispose of it & contact the farm, more

on Friday evening near the Unadilla Valley Sports Center has died. 20 year old Jonathan Mayzak of South Carolina
succumbed to his injuries on Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in
Utica. An autopsy will be performed at
the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in the near future. The investigation is continuing with the
State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and The Chenango County District
Attorney's Office will be consulted at the conclusion of the investigation as
to whether additional charges are warranted against the driver, 31 year old
Edward Burnett of Utica.
Governor Cuomo signed legislation which prohibits employment
discrimination based on religious attire, clothing or facial hair. The new law
amends the State Human Rights Law to make clear that employers cannot refuse to
hire, attain, promote, or take other discriminatory action against an
individual for wearing attire or facial hair in accordance with tenets of their
religion. The legislation also requires
employers to reasonably accommodate an employee's religious practices.
The American Red Cross is holding 2 Blood drives in Sidney
& Oneonta today, to address the current blood shortage. The Sidney blood drive will be from 2:00 to

State Police responded to a crash on I-88 in the town of
Fenton Tuesday. 55 year old Douglas Peters of Amsterdam rear-ended an
unoccupied attenuator truck that was stopped in the passing lane on Interstate
88 just west of exit 2. The truck did
have its emergency lights and arrow stick activated. The operator of the attenuator truck was collecting
signage and not in a work zone. Peters
was ejected after his vehicle struck the concrete barrier, he was transported
to Wilson Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition, he was ticketed for
Failure to Exercise Due Care When Passing a Stopped, Standing or Parked Hazard
Vehicle and not wearing a Safety Belt.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 31-year-old John
Mahler of Walton Tuesday for obstructing government administration and harassment. Mahler is accused of intentionally
interfering with a Walton Fire Department investigation into a report of a tree
on utility wires in the Village of Walton; he was arraigned in Walton Village
Court and was released on his own recognizance.
Governor Cuomo today signed legislation limiting an
educational institution's ability to authorize any person who is not primarily
employed as a school resource officer, law enforcement officer or security
guard to carry a firearm on school grounds. Cuomo also directed State Police to
establish statewide regulations aimed at strengthening existing gun buyback
programs and create new programs for the safe removal of illegal, unsecured,
abandoned or unwanted firearms. This is
the 3rd signing by Governor Cuomo this week to tighten gun laws, he signed a
law extending the background check waiting period, banned bump stocks and
banned undetectable 3D Printed guns and expanded firearm safe storage laws.
Local sales tax collections for
the first 2 quarters of 2019 grew at a moderate pace compared to last year,
according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
Collections during the 1st & 2nd quarters grew by 3.4 &
3.2%, most regions upstate showed weak

Tuesday morning, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were
dispatched to the scene of a tractor trailer rollover accident at the
intersection of County Highway 26 and East River Road in the Town of
Hamden. 51 year old Ronald Greene of
Willow Grove, Pennsylvania was operating a trailer with liquid sugar on County
Highway 26 when the truck experienced brake failure, Greene lost control &
overturned. Greene was not injured; the
road was closed to traffic during the accident investigation and cleanup. Greene was ticketed for failure to stop at a
stop sign and inadequate brakes and was directed to answer those charges in the
Town of Hamden Court.

State Police responded to a crash on I-88 in the town of
Fenton Tuesday. 55 year old Douglas Peters of Amsterdam rear-ended an
unoccupied attenuator truck that was stopped in the passing lane on Interstate
88 just west of exit 2. The truck did
have its emergency lights and arrow stick activated. The operator of the attenuator truck was collecting
signage and not in a work zone. Peters
was ejected after his vehicle struck the concrete barrier, he was transported
to Wilson Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition, he was ticketed for
Failure to Exercise Due Care When Passing a Stopped, Standing or Parked Hazard
Vehicle and not wearing a Safety Belt.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 31-year-old John
Mahler of Walton Tuesday for obstructing government administration and harassment. Mahler is accused of intentionally
interfering with a Walton Fire Department investigation into a report of a tree
on utility wires in the Village of Walton; he was arraigned in Walton Village
Court and was released on his own recognizance.
Governor Cuomo today signed legislation limiting an
educational institution's ability to authorize any person who is not primarily
employed as a school resource officer, law enforcement officer or security
guard to carry a firearm on school grounds. Cuomo also directed State Police to
establish statewide regulations aimed at strengthening existing gun buyback
programs and create new programs for the safe removal of illegal, unsecured,
abandoned or unwanted firearms. This is
the 3rd signing by Governor Cuomo this week to tighten gun laws, he signed a
law extending the background check waiting period, banned bump stocks and
banned undetectable 3D Printed guns and expanded firearm safe storage laws.
Local sales tax collections for
the first 2 quarters of 2019 grew at a moderate pace compared to last year,
according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
Collections during the 1st & 2nd quarters grew by 3.4 &
3.2%, most regions upstate showed weak

State Police arrested 20 year old Bradley Dixon Jr., of
Madison for DWI & Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, after Troopers observed
Dixon's vehicle partially off the roadway on County Route 36 in the town of
Guilford, Dixon was sleeping in the driver’s seat, with the car running. Dixon was issued appearance tickets to the
town of Guilford court on Tuesday.
The A.O. Fox Hospital Foundation hosted its 20th Annual Golf
Classic at the Oneonta Country Club on June 24, bringing 27 donors and 140
golfers to raise funds for a new ultrasound machine in Fox’s department of
surgical services; they raised more than $50,000 this year.

old Amber Snell of Bainbridge for Aggravated DWI with Child Less than 15 as
Passenger plus 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child & several
other violations. Snell was observed by
a Trooper on County Route 32 in the town of Oxford driving with 4 unrestrained
children in the back seat, she was arrested, & the children were turned
over to a sober 3rd party. Snell was
arraigned in the town of Oxford court & was released on her own
recognizance and will reappear on July 8th.

the fork of the Chenango and Tioughnioga Rivers Thursday evening, following the
report stated that 3 kayakers were in distress, 2 kayakers were able to get out
of the river on their own but one kayaker was unconscious after his kayak
overturned. The kayaker has been
identified as 72 year old Dennis Healey of Chenango Forks, CPR was attempted,
but Healey was pronounced dead. The
investigation revealed that Healey was kayaking with a group of people, Healey
capsized and became entangled in debris, and an autopsy revealed that Healey
likely suffered a cardiac medical emergency.
State Police and local law enforcement agencies will
increase patrols to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic
infractions during the 4th of July holiday, through Friday, July 5th. State Troopers will conduct sobriety
checkpoints and target reckless and aggressive driving statewide in an effort
to keep New York highways safe during one of the busiest summer holidays for
travel. Last year, the State Police
issued nearly 10,500 vehicle and traffic tickets during the 4th of July
weekend. Troopers arrested 216 people for DWI and investigated 165 crashes,
which resulted in four fatalities and 244 injuries.
Chenango Sheriff’s department arrested 50 year old Randolph
Browning of Virginia for Criminal Sexual Act, Possessing a Sexual Performance
by a Child, Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, and
Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Detectives arrested Browning Jr. following a complaint of an older man
looking for a room at a local Motel to bring a female victim under the age of
16. Detectives found that Browning had sexual contact with a child less than 16
years old and also possessed child pornography.
Browning is currently being held at the Chenango County Correctional
Facility on other charges and is awaiting his court date.

Police will target speeding and aggressive drivers during a special
weeklong traffic enforcement initiative. This year's "Speed Week"
enforcement crackdown started yesterday and runs through next Wednesday.
Troopers will also actively patrol highway work zones and will target drivers
who violate the "Move Over" Law.
State Senator Jim Seward announced Senate approval
of legislation to help increase safety for limousine passengers, following the
crash of a limo that killed 20 people in Seward's district in Schoharie last
October:

Indictment Thursday relating to a narcotics trafficking investigation in the
Hancock area. Deputies arrested 39 year-old Wilbur Tyrrell, of Starlight,
Pennsylvania, on the Sealed Indictment Arrest Warrant as he attempted to flee,
on foot, across the bridge from the Village of Hancock into the State of
Pennsylvania. The Grand Jury accused Tyrrell of 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a
Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling Methamphetamines & Xanax, he
was also charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental
Administration.

tonight at General Clinton Park, American cancer Society organizer Heather
