36 year old John Pierre Regazzi of Delhi pleaded guilty to Assault, Forcible Touching and Criminal Contempt in Delaware County Court Wednesday, where he appeared for his scheduled pre-trial hearings. A jury trial was scheduled to commence on February 9, but Regazzi decided to enter a guilty plea, he will be sentenced to 5 years in state prison, to be followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, he will also be required to register as a sex offender for at least 20 years upon his release from state prison, and there will be a final order of protection in favor of the female victim. After pleading guilty, Judge Rosa remanded Regazzi back to the Delaware County Correctional Facility pending sentencing on April 1.


State Lawmakers have had a little over a week to look over Governor Hochul's Executive State Budget proposal, Assemblyman Joe Angelino comments:

Lawmakers have until April 1st to get the budget passed in time for the start of the next fiscal year.


Chobani announced that they awarded $400,000 in grants to 40 nonprofit groups through the eighth annual Community Impact Fund. The grants will go to organizations in Central New York, Idaho, Philadelphia and Muskegon Michigan. Locally, the Afton Central Schools will use the funds to build a greenhouse for agricultural education and to supply fresh produce for the FFA Food Pantry. The Food Bank of Central New York will support its Senior Grocery Program, the Norwich City School District will expand its backpack program, the Oneonta Middle School will provide grocery gift cards to families throughout the year, and the Cooperstown Food Pantry will use its grant to offer year-round farmers market vouchers, SNAP matching and CSA shares from regional farms.


Sidney Federal Credit Union announced a $1 million community support initiative for 2026, titled "Why SFCU? 1 Million Reasons," the initiative seeks to make a difference in the lives of residents throughout the region, Chief Retail Officer Andrew Smith explains:

An Endicott man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing 27 iPhones from a FedEx facility while working for the company. Last Friday the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded to a larceny complaint at FedEx Freight East, at Industrial Park Drive in the Town of Kirkwood. Security at the facility advised that someone had been stealing from iPhones since April by sneaking them out of the facility in his coat pocket. After reviewing footage, 22 year old Leon Roberts of Endicott was charged with 3rd degree Grand Larceny. Roberts was arraigned at Central Arraignment Part and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Kirkwood Court.

In Delaware County: Republicans will vote for a candidate for County Treasurer between Ronda Williams & Carli Pinner; In the Town of Sidney 4 Republicans are running for 2 seats on the Town Board, between Richard DeCola, Frank Selleck, William Hunt & Andrew Hinkley. There are no Democratic Party primaries in Chenango or Delaware Counties & there are no primaries in Otsego County this year.


On Monday Morning, the Colchester Town Police Department, the Downsville Fire Department and Emergency Squad, responded to a reported motorcycle accident on State Highway 30 & Delaware County Highway 7. The operator of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old female, left the roadway and struck a ditch, she was ejected, sustained serious injuries and was transported by LifeNet of New York to Albany Medical Center for advanced medical care.


State Police today announced that Troopers issued 27,208 total traffic tickets during the special “Speed Week” traffic enforcement campaign, from June 9th to June 15th. Troopers issued 12,703 tickets for speeding and 1,184 total tickets for Move Over Law violations. Locally, Troop C issued over 2300 tickets, including over 1400 tickets for speeding and 184 for violating the "Move Over" Law.

Norwich Police Department concluded a two-month investigation into allegations of child abuse and sexual abuse, they arrested 33 year old Rolando Antonio of Guatemala, for Sexual Abuse & Forcible Touching, he is accused of sexually abused a 3-year-old child in the City of Norwich. On Thursday, officers and detectives from the Norwich City Police Department & State Police, arrested Antonio, he was arraigned in Norwich City Court and is being held on $20,000 bail, with a court appearance scheduled for a later date. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected.


Saturday will be "AIRPORT DAY 2025" from 8 AM to 3 PM at Eaton Airport in Norwich. The event is free to the public, rides are available and their will be various exhibits, The event is rain or shine.


There will be a Village Election for registered voters in the Village of Oxford Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM at the Oxford Fire Station, on Main Street. 45 year old Cruz Garcia of Fleischmanns pleaded guilty in Delaware County court Tuesday to Strangulation, he is now clear to be deported. Garcia initiated a violent encounter against a female victim in 2023, a 3 count Indictment was returned for Strangulation, Unlawful Imprisonment, and 1st degree Rape, the victim was transported to a hospital because of the injuries sustained. Garcia has been incarcerated since his arrest for this incident, , which occurred while Garcia was released on separate unrelated felony charges of DWI in Orange County, plus Garcia lacked legal status in the United States and was wanted by Immigration, on a 3rd unrelated conviction, Garcia will be deported & a sentence of time served was deemed appropriate.


Afton Central School District will be running on a 2-hour delay today for all students. All field trips and after school activities will be canceled for the day, as the district has had issues with water quality since Wednesday morning.

25 year old Carlos Santiago of Arkville appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to 3rd Degree Grand Larceny. Prior to pleading guilty, Santiago admitted that he and 2 other individuals entered City of New York property by breaking through a locked gate and they stole a DEP owned woodchipper. Prior to his guilty plea, Santiago paid full restitution for the damage of the locked gate, the Court adjourned sentencing and placed Santiago on interim probation, his sentence will be determined based upon his performance on probation.


41 year old Brandon Empie of Unadilla pleaded guilty in the Town of Davenport Court Tuesday to 1 count of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drugs. On April 30, 2023, State Police were dispatched to State Highway 23 in the Town of Davenport for a disabled vehicle, 2 individuals were found to be unresponsive in the vehicle, Empie became responsive and failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, it was determined that he was impaired by drugs, he faces sentencing at a later date.

Assemblyman Joe Angelino and State Senator Peter Oberacker sponsored legislation to honor New York State Trooper Jill Mattice, who was killed in a car crash on January 20th, 2010, on State Route 23 in the Town of Morris, when her vehicle sideswiped an oncoming tractor trailer. Mattice was the first female State trooper killed in the line of duty since the agency's inception in 1917. State Highway 23 east of the Village of Morris, could soon be known as the Trooper Jill E. Mattice Memorial Highway. The legislation passed both houses of the Legislature & was sent to Governor Hochul for approval.


Officials with the Utica Boilermaker race announced that the annual event, set for July 13 this year, is completely filled up for the 15K race & there will be no more available slots to sign up for, however, people can sign up for the wait list, in case some runners drop out before the race day, Runners can also sign up for the 5K race instead. The demolition of the IBM Old Building Group in Endicott should be completed shortly, as Gorick Construction has been tearing down condemned building along McKinley Avenue. After the structures have been leveled, the rubble will be removed, and there will be some preparation of the site for potential future development, The IBM buildings have been condemned for 20 years. The cost of the demolition was about $8 Million dollars, paid for by the State & Broome County’s ARPA funds.


The Afton Central School District announced that they have canceled classes & all after school activities today, following the continuing issue with water quality. Afton students were sent home early yesterday, following the issue with water quality in Afton.

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors approved of a plan to safeguard an original County landfill cell, County Solid Waste Manager Tyson Robb Explains:

Robb said that the project has been slowed down somewhat with all of the rain in the County since the start of the project.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office has responded to the scene of a car crashing into a tree in the Village of Milford at about 1:00 PM today on State Route 28. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office, Otsego County EMS and the Milford Fire Department were currently at the scene, initial reports suggest that the car left the roadway and struck a tree. Traffic may be delayed in that area for clean up & accident reconstruction work.


The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating 39 year old Stephanie White, who is wanted on a probation violation. White is described as a white female, about 5'1" with brown hair & hazel eyes, anyone with information should call 607-832-5555 or go to "Submit A Tip" on the Sheriff's Office App.


The Afton Central School District closed at 11:30 this morning & all after school activities are canceled. The water in Afton was discolored or dirty, the Village of Afton Public Works Department told WCDO News that there was no water main break, but road crews using jack hammers adversely affected the quality of the water earlier today, it should clear up and there is NO order to boil water in effect.

37 year old Daniel Klenchik pleaded guilty to Tampering with a Witness in Broome County Court, he made a threatening video phone call to intimidate a victim involved in his pending criminal case, while he was incarcerated at the Broome County Jail, Klenchik will be sentenced to 2 to 4 years in New York State Prison on July 18.


State Police will be hosting a car seat check today, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Troop C Headquarters on State Route 7 between Sidney & Unadilla. State Police car seat technicians will check if the seat is installed properly or if there are any recalls with the current seat you have. Norwich City Police Department conducted a no-knock search warrant at 35 Pleasant Street as part of an investigation methamphetamine and fentanyl sales. 10 people were arrested on various drug & Criminal Nuisance charges. Arrested were 55 year old Todd Diamond, 66 Year old Charles Bates, 34 year old Todd Diamond, 52 year old Loreen Diamond, 27 year old Andrew Palmer, 24 year old Stephanie Donnelly, 58 year old Howard Grome, 37 year old Travis Foster, 42 year old Matthew Tiedemann & 29 year old Richard Garreau, all of Norwich. The arrests followed a months-long investigation into drug activity, investigators successfully conducted controlled purchases of the drugs, a search warrant executed Thursday which led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab inside the home. The State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was called in to collect hazardous materials, Norwich Fire and Codes Department condemned the property.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39 year old Richard Terrell of Afton following an investigation into the report of a stolen UTV from the Town of Harpursville. The investigation led Detectives to the Town of Afton, they were able to recover the stolen UTV from that location, the UTV sustained significant damage Terrell was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Terrell was taken into custody without incident and arraigned & was held without bail and is to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 53 year old Robert Smith of Sidney, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol, and Operating a Motor Vehicle against Interlock Restrictions, and several other violations following a Traffic Stop in the Town of Unadilla. Smith was found to have a revoked driver’s license in New York State, he was processed and released & will appear in court at a later date.

Oneonta Fire Department responded at about 1:30 this morning to a structure fire at 5 Grand Street. An Occupant in 1 of the apartments reported a kitchen fire, crews found light smoke showing from the exterior of the building, they encountered heavy smoke and poor visibility on the 2nd floor, they located the involved apartment and quickly extinguished the fire. The Department reported that all 6 residents from the 3 affected apartments have been displaced and will remain so until repairs can be completed. 1 occupant was taken to A.O. Fox Hospital for evaluation, 1 resident's cat perished in the fire. Assistance was provided by the Sidney Fire Department FAST Team, West Oneonta Fire Department was on stand-by, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Due to inclement weather, Wednesday's Rumble Ponies game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Mirabito Stadium has been suspended with the score 2-2 entering the top of the sixth inning. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced that the Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 5-count indictment against Jeramiah Burke of Margaretville. Each count of the five count Indictment accuses Burke of Menacing a Police Officer, on March 9th, in the Town of Middletown, he is accused of intentionally place or attempt to place several different uniformed police officers, including State Troopers and Deputies, in reasonable fear of physical injury by displaying a knife while such police officers were in the course of performing their official duties.

State Police arrested 24 year old Evan Eldred of McDonough following an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his residence Tuesday. In June of 2023, Troopers received information in Virginia that an adult man had inappropriate communications, sent sexually explicit images and was soliciting a juvenile, During the execution of the search warrant Eldred was found to be in possession of 5 assault rifles and high-capacity magazines, he was charged with 9 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, disseminating Indecent Material to Minors, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was arraigned at the Norwich City Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail, $75,000 partially secured bond.


The State Department of Labor announced the number of private sector jobs increased by 3,700, to 8,463,100 in February 2025. The State's unemployment rate decreased from 4.4% in January to 4.3% in February, the State's labor force participation rate increased from 60.8% in January to 60.9% in February 2025.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37 year old Brenda Manwarren of Oxford for Torturing or injuring animals & Failure to provide sustenance. Manwarren was accused of failing to provide food and water for a dog over the span of 3-5 days, she was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Oxford Court and released.


Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that Phillip Alvarez of Endicott pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in Broome County Court. As part of his plea agreement, Alvarez will be sentenced to 10 years in state prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision for the drug charge, he will also receive a 7-year prison sentence followed by five years of post-release supervision for the weapons charge. On July 24th 2024, a search warrant executed by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, they seized Cash, ammunition, weapons, cocaine and digital scales. Alvarez will also forfeit $5,566.00 in drug proceeds.

The Norwich Police Department has arrested 20 year old Wyatt Gould of Plymouth following a Grand Jury indictment. Gould was charged with 2nd degree Manslaughter, Vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, driving while impaired by drugs, reckless driving and other charges, Gould is accused of operated an SUV on January 1st on Cortland Street, while under the influence of drugs, he went onto the sidewalk & fatally struck 68 year old James Wright of Norwich, who was out for a morning walk, he was pronounced dead at the scene.


Broome County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged 20-year-old Jordan Wilson with 2nd degree Rape & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, following an investigation into statutory rape in the Town of Colesville. Wilson was taken into custody, arraigned, and released, Detectives executed additional search warrants & discovered video recordings of Wilson engaging in sexual acts with the minor victim. Wilson was arrested again and charged with 3 counts each of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, and Possession an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, Wilson is in custody at the Broome County Jail.


Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task executed a search warrant Thursday in the Town of Fenton, where they recovered methamphetamine, synthetic cannabis, Digital scales, Packaging material and $2,508 in US Currency. 53 year old Fred Montgomery of the Town of Fenton, was charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus 2 Counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Montgomery was arraigned and remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility

The Norwich Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian death that occurred on Cortland Street in the City of Norwich on January 1st, at approximately 8:00 AM. The victim was 68 year old James Wright, who was walking on the sidewalk of Cortland Street when he was struck, he succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The driver of the vehicle in question is a 19-year-old-male who did not sustain any injuries, the investigation is ongoing, and the Norwich Police Department was assisted by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team, as well as the Chenango County District Attorney’s Office.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38 year old Christie Coon of Afton for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, in the Town of North Norwich recently. Coon was found to have a suspended New York State drivers license and was in possession of Methamphetamine, she was transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was released on an appearance tickets for North Norwich Court at a later date.


Otsego County is looking to hire full & part time employees for the positions of Advanced Life Support Technician and Basic Life Support Technician. The positions include multiple benefits, more information is available at otsegocountyny.gov.


3 people were injured when a bar drink exploded, at the Courtside Bar & Grill in Binghamton. 1 person was hospitalized, 2 others were treated at the scene, Binghamton Police arrested one person for unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor, and the investigation is continuing.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a speeding vehicle with switched plates recently, 29 year old Adam Robinson and the passenger, 35 yr old Honesty Muller, both of Hamden. were arrested. K9 Dexter located a quantity of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. Robinson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Aggravated unlicensed Operation and Reckless Driving among many other similar charges. Muller was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Both Muller and Robinson were released on appearance tickets and scheduled to appear at the Town of Hamden Court at a later date.


Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving a female with facial injuries in the Town of Chenango. 49 year old Benjamin Engbrecht of Chenango was charged with 2nd and 3rd Degree Assault, Menacing, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest & Obstruction of Governmental Administration, he was taken to Central Arraignment & he was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
