45 year old Dustin Yannuzzi of Binghamton, was found guilty by a Broome County Jury last week for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. On October 2, 2024, Yannuzzi drove at a high rate of speed, engaging in conduct to unlawfully flee members of the State Police. Yannuzzi threw packages containing methamphetamine, from the vehicle, which was recovered by the Police. Yannuzzi was subsequently taken into custody at a local hotel, he faces sentencing on August 21st in Broome County Court, As a second felony drug offender, Yannuzzi faces a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 14 years in State Prison, plus 5 years of Post Release Supervision.


State Police responded to a one vehicle fatal crash on State Route 12 in the town of Hamilton. Prior to the crash, reports were received regarding an erratic driver, the vehicle was found off of the roadway into a guardrail. The driver was identified as 78 year old William Kilts of West Edmeston, he was pronounced dead at the scene, an autopsy is scheduled to determine whether Kilts was suffering from a medical issue that may have contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 22 year old Isiah Eckler of Cooperstown, for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation & Harassment, following an investigation into an incident in the Village of Cooperstown. Eckler was processed & was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending arraignment


State Police have concluded their Memorial Day Weekend Patrols statewide, and Construction sites will be re-opened today throughout the State. Statistics regarding arrests will be released shortly, On Memorial Day weekend in 2025, Troopers arrested 245 people for driving while impaired, issued 12,062 total tickets, and investigated 774 crashes, which resulted in 3 fatal crashes.


US Senator Chuck Schumer introduced the "Family Grocery and Farmer Relief Act” at Brooks Barbecue in Oneonta Monday. Schumer said that 4 companies own 67% of the pork, 60% of the chicken, and 85% of the beef,” leading no competition in the food industry, and higher costs for everyone. If passed through Congress and signed by the president, meatpacking conglomerates could control only one type of meat and the Federal Trade Commission would enforce the legislation. Schumer said the bill could brought to the floor for a vote soon.

32 year old Michael Kimball of Binghamton was found guilty of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief & Unlawful Fleeing A Police Officer In A Motor Vehicle, by a Broome County Jury Thursday. On February 26, Kimball led police from 3 different agencies on a chase through Binghamton and Port Dickinson while driving a stolen pickup truck. A relative of the owner of the stolen pickup truck tried to intervene by placing his own pickup truck on the street in order to stop Kimball from fleeing. The pursuit persisted, with Kimball apprehended in a wooded area, he faces sentencing on July 27th & faces up to 1 1/3 to 4 years in New York State Prison.

The Village of Sidney Police Department arrested of 45 year old Harun Spence in connection with the Armed Robbery Friday Afternoon at Smiley's on West Main Street. Sidney Police, State Police & Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene, they uncovered evidence regarding the vehicle used to flee the crime. Saturday Night, Sidney Police & State Police found Spence & he was taken into custody without incident, a firearm & other evidence was recovered, Spence was charged with 1st degree Robbery, Criminal use of a Weapon, Grand Larceny & Menacing, he was transported to the Delaware County Central Arraignment Court, Sidney Village Mayor Ray Baker commended Chief Oliver & the Sidney Police Department:

The Sidney Police Department stated that the investigation is continuing, more charges may be pending.


42 year old Mary Cutting of Sidney was sentenced to 6 years of incarceration to be followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, for selling fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Village of Sidney. State Police performed 2 controlled purchases of illegal drugs from Cutting, A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 2-count indictment for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Cutting was sentenced to 3 years in prison with 2 years of post-release supervision, she requested multiple adjournments of her sentencing, she is accused of committing additional crimes during that time. Cutting was apprehended on April 8th, the DA's office moved to void the previous plea agreement & they requested the 6 year sentence.


The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings, a company that owns and operates select Minor League clubs affiliated with Major League Baseball. The Double-A Mets affiliate will continue playing at Mirabito Stadium as all front office staff remain in place, Richard Tylicki, will continue as General Manager.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported 2 car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thompson Hollow Road and Jensen Road in the Town of Middletown Monday. Initial reports stated that 1 vehicle was on fire and the 2nd vehicle contained an entrapped person within. 2 good Samaritans heard the collision and went to the scene, they were able to extinguish the fire and provide first aid to both drivers until the arrival of first responders. 41 year old John Todd of Roxbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene, 65 year old Daniel Plummer of East Branch was extricated, he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center by Life Net and is currently in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident,


The Norwich City Police Department is seeking help in identifying an individual who committed a gunpoint Robbery of Holt’s Hemp Emporium at 20 South Broad Street in Norwich this afternoon at approximately 1:10 pm. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’01, wearing light tan camouflage pants, a blue hoodie, and a black helmet with a black backpack, he displayed a handgun and left with stolen cash, he was last seen driving a red and white Yamaha racing motorcycle and on State Route 12, anyone with information is asked to contact Norwich City Police at 607-334-2424.


The State Department of Labor released preliminary local area unemployment rates for April. The State's area unemployment decreased 1/10th to 4.0% in April, Chenango County had 2.5% unemployment in April, Delaware County had 2.9% & Otsego County had 2.8%.


The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s National enforcement effort is underway, it coincides with the Memorial Day holiday, & runs until June 4th, According to the Traffic Safety Administration, in 2021 there were 11,813 unbuckled passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in the United States, 57% of passenger vehicle occupants killed at night were not wearing their seat belts. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced A Public Safety Town Halls taking place in Windsor. Sheriff Fred Akshar, Undersheriff Sammy Davis, and other members of the Sheriff's Office will be on hand to discuss public safety issues, answer questions, The Windsor Public Safety Town Hall will take place from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Windsor Central High School Cafeteria.


Governor Kathy Hochul announced more than $112.9 million has been awarded to 70 projects through the Restore New York Communities Initiative. The City of Binghamton will be awarded $2 million for the Crowley Factory Lofts project. The project, located at 149 and 135 Conklin Avenue, will restore the waterfront building's second and third floors with 48 one and two-bedroom market rate housing units. The ground floor will be flexible commercial space. Also, the City of Norwich will receive $2 million for the Norwich Hotel project, to repurpose an existing vacant, unoccupied building at 14-16 South Broad Street into a 45-room boutique hotel.


The Town of Sidney announced that the section of the Back River Road between Crane Hill Rd and Rte 357 will be closed Today & tomorrow for road repairs.

The State Department of Health has added hotel workers to the vaccine eligibility list, and they further refined which restaurant workers and hired drivers can get vaccines.  People added to the vaccine list include Restaurant employees, including workers in permitted soup kitchen and congregate meal programs, Restaurant delivery workers, Public-facing hotel workers & For-hire vehicle drivers.  More information is available at am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.


Chenango County Public Health has confirmed 10 additional Chenango resident deaths attributed to COVID-19 recently.  Officials reported that the total represents a culmination of weeks of record requests and reviews and not a sudden acute loss of life. The County now reports 63 deaths from the virus in the year since the virus was discovered in New York State.  Currently, the county has 64 Active Cases, 223 Active Quarantines & 8 Hospitalized.


It's been a year since the first COVID case was confirmed in New York State, Currently; Broome County has had a total of 14,451 positive cases, with 314 deaths. There have been over 13,300 recoveries.  Statewide, over 38 million have been tested for COVID, with over 1.6 million testing positive, there have been 38,660 deaths.


NYSEG crews responded to power outages from last night's high winds.  NYSEG reported that over 2000 Chenango County customers were without power last night for several hours, with much smaller outages reported in other area counties.   Most of the power in the local counties was restored by earlier this afternoon.


The Glimmerglass Festival announced today it will build an outdoor stage on the festival grounds, where it will present 4 operas between July 15th & August 17th.  Tickets go on sale March 31st; more information is available at glimmerglass.org.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 men Monday for possessing controlled substances in the Town of Otselic.  The Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on Coakley Road in the Town of Otselic, 31 year old Chad Youngs was operating a rental vehicle, without a license, Youngs was found to be in possession of 69 bags of heroin, methamphetamine, packaging material, and a digital scale. Youngs was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 2 counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, A passenger, 30 year old Zachary Bumpus was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance; both men were issued appearance tickets for Town of Otselic Court at a later date.


The next meeting for the General Clinton Canoe Regatta will be held this evening.  Volunteers are needed for a variety of items for this year's event; tonight's meeting will begin at 7:00 PM at Galaxy Bowl in Bainbridge.


Delaware County Public Health reported 12 new COVID 19 cases Monday out of 126 tested; they have 98 active cases, 11 hospitalized & 366 in quarantine.  Delaware County has had 1534 cases in the year since COVID first was diagnosed in New York State.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle for traveling 80 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone Friday in Hancock.   The driver of the vehicle was 60 year-old Lisanne Swim of New Milford, Connecticut, a routine inquiry of State DMV records revealed that Swim’s Driver’s License was revoked in 2009 as a result of an alcohol related offense. Swim was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding; she was released & will appear in the Hancock Town Court on a later date.


A 3rd woman has come forward & claimed that Governor Cuomo made unwanted advances to her at a September 2019 wedding.  33 year old Anna Ruch told the New York Times about the incident; State Attorney General Letitia James is already investigating 2 other reports that former aides to the Governor were sexually harassed by him.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer announced that New York will receive 54 billion dollars from the latest Stimulus package; residents are expected to get about 9 Billion Dollars in direct payments.  Schumer said that there was still no Stimulus money for State & Local Governments in this package; he hoped that would be included in January under the Biden Administration.


State Police arrested 34 year old Brandon MacLaury of Guilford & 25 year old Candace Cullipher of Oxford, who were illegally living at the Unadilla House Hotel. MacLaury and Cullipher were each charged with 3rd-degree burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance,  MacLaury was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.  They are accused of possessing Methamphetamines and a rifle, they were processed at the Troop C Sidney Headquarters and were released on appearance tickets for Unadilla Town Court on January 11th.


As the state deficit from the pandemic balloons to 15 billion dollars, the state announced the closure of 3 prisons and the displacement of about 900 corrections officers.  The state will close the Clinton Correctional facility in Dannemora, plus the Gowanda facility in Western New York and the Watertown facility in Jefferson County.


Governor Cuomo signed the New York Automatic Voter Registration Act of 2020 into law, requiring designated State agencies to establish an automatic voter registration system as proposed by the Governor in the State of the State address.  The new law designates the Department of Motor Vehicles and other State agencies that interact directly with New York residents to work with the State Board of Elections to integrate agency and voter registration applications.  Applicants will also be given the opportunity to choose a political party.


The Chenango County Sheriff's Office announced today that the Chenango County Correctional Facility has suspended inmate visitation in response to the threat of the Corona Virus Pandemic.  The situation will be closely monitored, and inmate visitation will resume as soon as possible, but will remain suspended until further notice.


Chenango County Health Department reported 16 more cases of COVID 19 today, as area counties continue to see an uptick in cases attributed to "Living Room Spread" from family gatherings around the recent Thanksgiving holiday.  Chenango County has 94 Active Cases, 346 quarantines, & 9 people are hospitalized.


State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli reminds New Yorkers to check the state database to see of the state has any money belonging to residents.  The state has 16.5 Billion dollars in unclaimed funds, more information is available at osc.state.ny.us.

Governor Cuomo announced today that the residential tenant eviction protection has been extended to January 1st.  The state's Safe Harbor Act protects tenants from COVID-related residential evictions and foreclosures. Last week, the governor also announced an emergency moratorium on evictions and foreclosures for commercial tenants is being extended through October 20th.


Chenango County Public Health announced their latest COVID 19 numbers Monday.  They have had 249 cases since March; currently there are 2 Active Cases, 1 hospitalization, 73 Active Quarantines 227 Recoveries, 7 deaths and over 28,600 Tests Performed.


The Broome County Health Department’s contact tracing team has interviewed a confirmed positive COVID19 case who reported having participated in the New York Off-Road Association Boondocks event in Pitcher. The confirmed positive individual was there September 19th & 20th.  The Broome County Health Department also reported that a positive COVID case was from a person who was at the Old Union Hotel at 246 Clinton Street in Binghamton on Monday, September 21 between 4:00 and 8:30 PM.  The Health Department asks anyone who was at either location during those periods to quarantine until October 6th, anyone exhibiting symptoms should immediately begin self-quarantine and contact a medical provider.


Hartwick College today reported no new cases of COVID-19 have been detected among students or staff.  The current number of active cases is down to 2, their total number of cases detected on campus since August 1, 2020 is 18.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department & State Police investigated a 2-car fatal accident Friday morning in Delhi.  Killed were 74 year old Sandra Elmore and her passenger, 80 year old Eugene Mills, both of Downsville.  Elmore was driving north on state Route 10 when her car crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with a car driven by 32 year old Michael Beilby of East Meredith.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation by members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division and State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.


Governor Cuomo reported 866 COVID 19 cases on Saturday out of more than 84,000 tests conducted, bringing the Statewide Total to 455,626.  Patient Hospitalizations were back up to 541, there were 155 patients in ICU beds, & 59 on ventilators, there were 6 Deaths Saturday, the state death toll is 25,456


Village of Delhi Police Department arrested 58-year-old Gary Stevens of Delhi for Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child and 1st degree Rape; he is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a child less than 11 years of age. Stevens was remanded without bail to the Delaware County Jail after his arraignment.   This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed in this case.


Delaware County Sheriff Office arrested 21 year old Sean Gillespie of Bovina following an investigation into the forgery of personal checks that were stolen from a Town of Bovina home.  Deputies charged Gillespie with 3rd degree grand larceny and 18 counts each of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a forged instrument & offering a false instrument for filing, for allegedly stealing nearly $4000 by using 18 stolen and forged checks, he was arraigned virtually & was released on his own recognizance pending his appearance in the Town of Delhi court on a later date.

60-year-old Robert Doyle of Windsor was arrested on a
variety of drug charges, by the Broome County Special Investigations Task
Force.  Police searched Doyle’s home at
118 Main Street in Windsor, they seized Crystal Meth, Mollies, drug packaging
materials and digital scales used to weigh narcotics & a stolen 12-gauge
shotgun.  Doyle was charged with multiple
counts of Criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of
stolen property & criminally using drug paraphernalia, he faces court action
shortly.


State Police arrested 27 year old Gary Garbera of Oneonta
for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, DWI, Refusal to Submit
to a Breath Test, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Inspection among other
charges.  Troopers initiated a traffic
stop on Clinton Street in the city of Oneonta after they observed Garbera with
an equipment violation, he was arrested & Troopers learned that Garbera’s
licensed was revoked and he had a bench warrant with the city of Oneonta Police
Department.  He was arrested and
processed then released to Oneonta Police.


State Commissioner of Health Dr. Howard Zucker today
announced that influenza is no longer prevalent in New York State. The
declaration means that healthcare workers who are not vaccinated against
influenza are no longer required to wear masks in areas where patients are
present.  Flu activity in the state peaked
during the week ending February 23rd, when there were more than
9,600 confirmed cases in 1 week.   There
were 106,755 cases of influenza with 18,513 hospitalizations, & 6 pediatric
influenza-associated deaths.


The Village of Sidney Spring Brush & Leaf Pick Up will

Law Enforcement agencies in Delaware County are searching for 23 year old Cody Conkling, who was last seen Sunday afternoon on Parker Hollow Road in the town of Unadilla.  Conkling is described as 23 years old, White, with Brown Hair, Blue eyes & a beard, he was wearing a Gray flannel shirt, Jeans , work Boots & a hat, he is 6'1" tall, weighs about 190 pounds,  Anyone with information is asked to contact state Police at Troop C at 561-7400.


Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 3 people on
burglary charges following a vehicle pursuit Thursday.  Norwich City Police officers were first
involved in the pursuit into the Town of Norwich, Sheriff’s Deputies &
State Police then attempted to stop a Subaru operated by 24 year old Dakota
Davenport after he was clocked at 101 mph on County Road 32.   Davenport and front seat passenger 36 year
old Zane Marvin continued to McDonough, they are accused of throwing saws,
clothing, gun cases, and BB guns from the vehicle.   Davenport stopped in the Town of McDonough
and fled on foot, 26 year old Macey Newkirk and Marvin were taken into custody.   Davenport was eventually located & was
taken into custody.  All 3 were charged
with Burglary and Reckless Endangerment. Davenport was charged with additional
Traffic Violations; they were arraigned in the Town of Oxford Court and were
remanded to the custody of the Sheriff’s Office.

Yorkers from unknown exposure to toxic chemicals:

the DEC & the State Health Department & the Department of State to
develop regulations establishing on-package labeling requirements for
designated products indicating the presence of potentially hazardous chemicals,

Due to a change in the House of Representatives voting
schedule, 22nd district Congressman Anthony Brindisi has rescheduled
his Binghamton town hall at American Legion, 39 Louisa Street in Binghamton,

Oneonta Police Department is holding special education sessions for community
members about emergency preparedness in the event of an active shooter in a

This Wednesday is the last day
to register for an upcoming workshop on substance abuse, targeted at business

The Tioga Downs Resort and
Casino in Nichols received a package addressed to a casino hotel guest, which
contained 10 ounces of crystal methamphetamine.
State Police personnel assigned to the casino detail contacted State
Police CNET, they identified the hotel guest as 34 year old Michael Champlin of
Camillus, and Investigators were granted a search warrant to search Champlin’s
room and his vehicle.  Those searches
lead to the seizure of additional methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  Champlin was charged with Attempted
Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was arraigned in the Town of Nichols
Court, where he was remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail.


Broome County Special
Investigations Unit Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant Friday
afternoon at 32 Linden Street in the City of Binghamton, Task Force
investigators Seized Cocaine, Marijuana & Numerous controlled substance
prescription pills, weapons, ammunition, $7,737.00 of suspected drug sale
proceeds Drug packaging materials and digital scales.  37 year old Frederick Felton and 36 year old
Brandy Griffin were arrested on a number of drug charges, they were being held
for future court action.


New York State’s celebration of
the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held on January 21,

State Police CNET officers & Oneonta Police Department executed a search warrant at 5357 State Route 7 in Oneonta's East End. Police arrested 35 year old Benjamin Bockus of Oneonta for multiple counts of Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance, plus Criminal Possession of Marihuana, Criminal Nuisance and 2 counts of Criminally using Drug Paraphernalia. Police seized approximately 48 grams of cocaine, approximately 300 grams of psychedelic mushrooms, concentrated cannabis, 2.5 pounds of marihuana, 3 digital scales, cellular phones, drug packaging material and $7,985.00 in cash. Bockus was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
State Police at Troop C have released the results of their crackdown on impaired drivers over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. 11 impaired driving arrests were reported by Troop C, while statewide, there were 217 impaired driving arrests in New York State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Bassett Healthcare Network announced that William Streck will return to the organization to assume the role of President and CEO, following the decision by current CEO Vance Brown to step down effective April 20th, , to pursue opportunities outside of Bassett. Streck served as Bassett’s President & CEO from 1984 to 2014, he then joined the Healthcare Association of New York State as Chief Medical and Health Systems Innovation Officer. Streck will also be tasked with developing a long-term leadership strategy for Bassett Healthcare Network. Last fall, William LeCates, was appointed acting president of Bassett Medical Center and will be president of Bassett Medical Center when the network CEO transition is completed.

State Police arrested 25 year old Chad Darwesh of Schenectady for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and Controlled Substances in Non-Original Container and several traffic infractions. Troopers observed Darwesh speeding on Interstate 88 in Otego, A passenger 30 year old Michael Horton of Schenectady, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Darwesh was arraigned in the town of Otego Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
41 year old Louisa Garcia of Oxford pleaded guilty to making a false claim against the United States for assisting in the preparation of a false tax return. Garcia admitted that she prepared 110 false tax returns between 2011 and 2014, resulting in an intended loss to the United States of $848,196. Garcia faces up to 8 years in prison, post-imprisonment supervised release of up to 3 years, and a maximum $250,000 fine, when she is sentenced on July 17th.
The New York State Fair Officials announced today that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members "Blondie" will take the stage on the fair's opening day on the Chevy Court. Opening day for the Great New York State Fair is Wednesday August 22nd at 8:00 pm.
The Delaware Academy Girls Basketball Team will celebrate their State Championship on Wednesday, with a parade down Main Street in downtown Delhi at 5:30 PM. The parade will line up at 5:00 PM at Clinton Street & will end up by the Social Services Building on Main Street, more information is available at delhischools.org.
Main Street in Oneonta was closed for a brief period this Morning, as Oneonta Firefighters tackled a small boiler fire, that required an evacuation, at the former Oneonta Hotel building, across from Muller Plaza. The fire was out quickly, Main Street was re-opened, no injuries were reported.


Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig will deliver the annual State of The City Address tonight at 7:00 PM, during the Oneonta Common Council meeting. Prior to the annual address at 6:15, Mayor Herzig will present the annual Trailblazer Awards in the City Hall Lobby.
Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced that a $5,000 reward was issued for information leading to the arrest of 20 year old Valentino Mondolfi, who is a witness in the ongoing Broome County Court murder trial of Jabari Ashe. Mondolfi is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Binghamton Police at 772-7080.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputy’s arrested 48 year old Michael Wright of Walton for DWI & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, after deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the Town of Tompkins. Wright is also accused of driving with a revoked license; he was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $500 cash bail. Wright is to re-appear in the Town of Tompkins Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 21 year old Johnathan Ruland of Lancaster, Pennsylvania for DWI, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Ruland was stopped at a checkpoint on State Highway 7, in the town of Unadilla, troopers accused Ruland of possessing marijuana and cocaine & he was wanted on a warrant with the Village of Sidney Police. Ruland was arraigned in the town of Unadilla and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,500 bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the town of Unadilla on April 9th.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 54 year-old Lorraine Hahn of the Walton for DWI in the Village of Walton, she was also issued a ticket for operating a motor vehicle with inadequate brake lights. Hahn was released on an appearance ticket and scheduled to appear before the Village of Walton Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Dean Martin of Walton, on 1 count each of 3rd degree Assault & Menacing, after an investigation of a domestic incident in the town of Walton Saturday. Martin is accused of threatening an individual with a knife, & causing a physical injury with his fist. Martin was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 bail or $5,000 in bond, pending future court action in the Town of Walton Court.
Applications are now being accepted for the operation of custom craft beverage production centers to provide space and equipment to those looking to produce beer, wine, or cider for home consumption. The State Liquor Authority will provide new licenses to facilitate the production, to both current craft manufacturers looking to expand or businesses seeking to open a stand-alone custom homemade craft beverage production center. Governor Cuomo signed legislation last year, creating the new license authorizing the creation of custom craft production centers where craft beverage amateur brewers and cider makers can utilize the expertise, space and equipment of existing facilities to produce craft beverages for personal consumption. Governor Cuomo announced that over $3.1 million dollars in wages and interest during the first quarter, has been returned to 1,367 workers by the State Department of Labor. In addition, more than $125,500 in civil penalties have been assessed against employers in violation of prevailing wage law and 14 individuals or business entities have been debarred since the beginning of the year. Locally, 76 Southern Tier area workers were awarded over $168,000 in back wages through this effort.

State Police responded Friday to a report of a 1-vehicle rollover fatal accident on State Highway 17 in the Town of Sanford. The investigation revealed that the operator of an Econoline van fell asleep at the wheel, the vehicle drifted off the road and overturned multiple times before coming to rest. 5 of the 7 occupants were transported to Wilson and Lourdes Hospitals to be evaluated for non-life threatening injuries, however, 1 Passenger; 70 year old Dennis Pitts of Rochester, was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital, he was pronounced deceased. The investigation is continuing.
A Delaware County Grand Jury handed down Sealed Indictments last Thursday regarding the illegal sale of prescription drugs. Sheriff's Office Investigators arrested 49-year-old Louis Aulicino of Franklin, for 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling Morphine and Oxycodone from his residence between early November 2016, and late January of this year. Sheriff’s Investigators also arrested 46 year old Richard Mattice, of Delhi, on 3 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling Hydrocodone in the Village of Delhi between July, 2016, and late January of this year.
Norwich Police unveiled 20 new officer body cameras to increase transparency and accountability while improving relationships between law enforcement and the community. Officers began utilizing the body cameras on patrol and in the field earlier this year. The cameras are always on and rolling footage, the officer maintains control over when the camera starts to record and save footage. Funding for the equipment was secured through a $50,000 Public Protection Grant by State Senator Fred Akshar in the State Budget.
