46 year old Jamie Crowley of Windsor was found guilty by a jury of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2 counts of Menacing in Broome County Court, on July 3, 2021, Broome County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Crowley’s home after reports of Crowley firing a gun at a woman’s car who turned around in his driveway, and at responding deputies, who returned fire, Crowley sustained non-life threatening injuries. Crowley was sent back to the Broome County Jail following the guilty verdict.

A Windsor man has pleaded guilty to Robbery in the 3rd degree. According to the Broome County District Attorney, Scott Frost admitted he stole a motorcycle and threatened to shoot the owner while he was on parole for a burglary in 2014 in Tioga County. Frost will be sentenced in December 2022 and faces two to four years.

Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a 2-car accident on I-86 in the Town of Windsor. During the investigation, 39 year old Michael Morgan of Queens, failed a field sobriety test & was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. Morgan was processed and released on tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor Court.

Firefighters from Bainbridge, Guilford, Mount Upton, Masonville, Coventry, Franklin, Trout Creek, Afton and Sidney all responded to a structure fire at the Auto Plus Store at 4 Front Street Monday Night at about 9:00 PM. Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started, the store was closed when the fire broke out, no injuries among fire fighters were reported.

3rd Annual Windsor Partnership Corn Festival & Tractor Show will be held tomorrow at Klumpp Park in Windsor. No injuries were reported, the structure sustained significant fire damage. Mutual aid was provided by fire fighters from Windsor, West Windsor, Harpursville, Ouaquaga and Afton.

The State DEC has expanded its Drought Watch to about 2/3rds of the state's land, as dry weather conditions continue. The watch now includes all of the counties south of the Mohawk River Valley, & excludes those in the Adirondacks, Eastern Great Lakes, Westchester County & New York City. DEC Officials are encouraging residents in affected counties, particularly those dependent on private groundwater wells, to conserve water whenever possible during the coming weeks. No mandatory restrictions are in place under a state drought watch.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 35-year-old Jason Johnson of Nineveh has been found guilty of attempted murder & several other charges for the shooting of State Trooper Becky Seager on June 9th , 2021. Troopers responded to East Windsor Road for a welfare check, Trooper Becky Seager was shot in the hip, which was followed by a 19-hour manhunt, Johnson was found the next day at State Route 79 near the Susquehanna River in the town of Colesville.

The Trial of Jason Johnson of the town of Colesville continues in Broome County Court. Johnson is accused of shooting State Trooper Becky Seager in June of 2021, Jason's father, David Johnson is accused of tampering with evidence on behalf of his son. Police had been called to the East Windsor Road locations for the report of shots fired, Johnson was apprehended following a 19 hour manhunt, Trooper Seager was hospitalized after being shot in the hip.

Several Fire Departments responded to the report of a fire at the Town of Windsor barn Thursday afternoon. The investigation revealed that the fire started in the bay area of a garage, with fire damage to the entire garage itself with most of the damage occurring in the bay area. Windsor, West Windsor, Harpursville, West Colesville, 5 Mile Point, Deposit fire departments responded, no injuries were reported.

State Police and multiple agencies responded Sunday Afternoon at about 4:35 PM to a 1 vehicle crash off Interstate 81 south at the exit 1 off ramp in Kirkwood. The driver, 40-year-old Andrew Morley of Windsor, was transported to Wilson Hospital with serious injuries. A 14-year-old male passenger of Windsor was pronounced deceased after being transported from the scene & a 12-year-old female passenger of Windsor, was eventually taken to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Former long time WDLA co-owner Amos Finch of Walton passed away Tuesday, following a lengthy illness. Finch was born in Sidney Center, In 1975 he purchased WDLA, and later added stations in Deposit & Delhi, before selling them in 2000. Private arrangements were conducted by CH Landers Funeral Chapel of Sidney, and he will be buried at Highland Cemetery in Sidney Center in the spring. State Police Bureau arrested 50 year old Kenneth Drumm of Windsor for the felony of Sexual Abuse. Drumm was charged after an investigation revealed he had inappropriate contact with a child younger than the age of 13. Drumm was arrested and processed and was turned over to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. A full stay away order was issued to the victim.

State Police BCI unit arrested 26 year old Simon Braungard of Windsor for Sexual Abuse, following an investigation where he is accused of forcibly subjecting a victim to sexual contact on January 5th. Braungard was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
