State Police were dispatched early Monday Morning to a report of a fire on Welton Street in the town of Colesville. 60 year old Wendy Sutton died as a result of the fire, Harpursville, Windsor, Ouaguaga and West Colesville Fire Departments responded. The fire is not believed to be suspicious & the investigation is ongoing.

State Police arrested 26 year old John Flora of Windsor for allegedly burglarizing residences in the town of Windsor. An investigation by State Police BCI arrested Flora at his residence. He was charged with multiple counts of 2nd degree Burglary & was taken to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

State Police charged 19 year old Madisyn Colsten of Binghamton for DWI after she allegedly drove her car into a house at 211 Dunbar Road in the Town of Windsor at 3:40 AM Saturday. The occupant of the home, the driver, and the passenger were not injured. Colsten has been issued an appearance ticket for October 13th.

State Troopers were dispatched by Broome County 911 to a one-car crash near the intersection of Fox Farm and Reagan Roads in the town of Windsor Wednesday morning. Troopers discovered that the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a utility pole, the driver was still in the vehicle and unresponsive. The unidentified driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and an autopsy was ordered.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 27 year old Ridge McCollum of Whitney point following an investigation into the report of a car in a ditch in Windsor. Deputies accuse McCollum of trying to ingest cocaine that was discovered by sheriff's deputies during their investigation. McCollum was charged with tampering with physical evidence, DWI, Criminal Possession of a controlled substance & obstructing governmental administration, he faces court action at a later date.

State Police arrested several individual allegedly involved in a Windsor Burglary in April, items stolen included a rowboat, propane tanks, several tools and household items. Police have arrested 23 year old Caleb Harris of Windsor, 46 year old Robert Harris of Windsor & 39 year old Jamie Klein of Kirkwood, all were processed & released pending future court action.

State Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on State Route 79 in the town of Windsor. 50 year old Brian Bidwell of Virginia was traveling southbound on State Route 79 when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and stuck a ditch. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 27 year old Dylan Katen of Windsor for possession and use of a credit card that was stolen during a burglary of a Town of Sanford residence in 2019. Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detectives learned the stolen credit card was utilized at a Deposit convenience store in December, they requested assistance from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division. The joint investigation led to Katen’s arrest, for 1 count of criminal possession of stolen property & petit larceny, he was arraigned by teleconference Friday night & was released on appearance tickets for Deposit Town Court on a later date.

The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet by Webcast at 10:30 this morning, to consider a request filed by Baron Winds to build 33 wind turbines in Steuben County. The Board recently re-approved plans for wind turbines in the towns of Sanford & Windsor; they have not yet acted on plans for the High Bridge Wind farms project in Guilford. The State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet today at 10:30 AM to consider petitions for rehearing of the Siting Board’s December 2019 approval of Bluestone Wind, LLC’s application for Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to build and operate a 124-megawatt wind facility in the Towns of Windsor and Sanford. The parties seeking rehearing are Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society, Broome County Concerned Residents and a resident of the Village of Johnson City. Bluestone Wind applied to construct and operate 27 wind turbines & its associated network, to reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, member of the public will be able to listen at dps.ny.gov/Webcasts.
