Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 18-year-old Joshua Davis, of Downsville Thursday on a multitude of charges following a 6-month investigation into sex crimes involving numerous victims. Davis is charged with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, 6 counts of sexual misconduct, and 7 counts of 2nd degree Rape, for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a child, and other related incidents. Davis was arraigned and was released on his own recognizance, he then surrendered to Deputies on 5 additional counts of sexual misconduct, from a separate investigation, he was arraigned in Walton Village Court on the 2nd round of charges & is scheduled to re-appear at Walton Village Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 30-year-old Patrick Ford of Delancey, Saturday for Grand Larceny & Petty Larceny, following a report of a stolen wallet in the Town of Delhi. Ford is alleged to have stolen a wallet containing a credit card and a sum of cash from a residence in the Town of Delhi; he was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
The Hometown 4th of July will be held in Oneonta tomorrow, with a full schedule of family activities. The Color Run will be hedl from 9:00AM to 12:00 NOON in Neahwa Park. At noon the 4th of July Parade will go down Main Street starting at the Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street. The rest of the festivites will be held from 1:00 pm to 11:00 PM in Neahwa Park, featuring Live Music, various Activities, Food, a free Oneonta Outlaws Baseball Game & the Fireworks Display at 9:30 pm.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is urging FEMA to process requests quickly to assist the Mohawk Valley area, which was hit with heavy rain, flash flooding & a possible Tornado near Vernon Downs over the weekend. Schumer said that if a disaster declaration is made, grant assistance would be available to state and local governments and certain nonprofit organizations to reimburse costs incurred from emergency work, and repairs or replacement of damaged facilities. FEMA usually covers 75% of the costs after a disaster declaration.

Governor Cuomo announced that juries in New York State would be allowed to consider a photo array shown to a witness by police. Previously, State law prohibited photo arrays from being introduced as evidence at trial; the State also has adopted a standard protocol for law enforcement to follow when showing photos to witnesses for purposes of identifying the perpetrator of a crime.
A Windsor man was arrested for DWI after he drove to the State Police barracks in Kirkwood to pick up a friend who had been arrested. 32-year-old Christopher Swawola of Windsor was intoxicated and Troopers determined that he drove to the barracks with a BAC of .18. Swawola was released to a third party, and will appear in the Town of Kirkwood Court on July 11th.

State Police & local law enforcement agencies, will increase patrols to crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions this 4th of July weekend. Troopers will conduct sobriety checkpoints, along with speeding and seat belt enforcement details, & they will also be looking for distracted motorists using their phones and other electronic devices while behind the wheel. Drivers should also remember to “move over” for stopped emergency and hazard vehicles stopped on the side of the road. State Police will also be targeting the illegal sale of alcohol to minors during the enforcement period from Saturday through midnight Tuesday, July 4th
Governor Cuomo announced that lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York highways will be suspended TODAY until 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 5th, in order to accommodate travelers during the busy Independence Day holiday weekend. Some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.
The Delaware County Public Works Committee will host a public presentation on the proposed rebuild and relocation of the county highway garage. The Meeting will be held on July 12 at 7:00 PM at Delaware Academy in Delhi.
Governor Cuomo signed a bill Thursday, which prohibits low-level sex offenders from becoming drivers for ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft. The state's law allowing ride-sharing took effect Thursday, it initially blocked Level 2 and 3 sex offenders from driving for the companies, which allow passengers to summon drivers using smartphone apps. Earlier this month, the state legislature voted to expand the law to also block Level 1 Sex Offenders.

The Main Street Sidney Revitalization Project will be getting underway next week. Sidney Grants Administrator John Redente explains:

The Project first calls for new wider sidewalks, with benches, & new trees within rain gardens. Both lanes of Main Street will be open, all businesses will be open their normal hours. Work will begin near the Sidney Library & work down to the railroad tracks.
Animal Adventure in Harpursville announced that the "Giraffe Cam" will be back up & running, after world wide viewing online of April the Giraffe giving birth to Tajiri several weeks ago. Animal Adventure operator Jordan Patch said that Tajiri will definitely be there this summer & possibly beyond that:

Patch said that the Giraffe cam would run 6 days a week from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday through Friday on the Animal Adventure YouTube channel. Other cameras will be up around the park in the shortly.
The Sidney Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual dinner this evening. This year's "Citizen of the Years" will be honored, they are Paul Eaton and Carl Griffith, and The “Business of Years” is the Sidney Elks Club, who will host the Annual Dinner tonight, the doors open at 5:30, dinner is served at 6:30.
State DMV Officials announced that fake emails pretending to be from the department, and seeking the payment of fines, is a hoax. The DMV does not seek the payment of fines by Email, they suggest that you delete the email & never give out any financial information from unsolicited emails.
The Sidney Municipal Airport will host an Open House & Fly-In Breakfast this Sunday. The event runs from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Sunday. Plane rides & demonstrations & live music are also planned.

State Police arrested 58 year old Gasper Ciraolo of Bainbridge for Criminal Possession of Marihuana & traffic violations, after a traffic stop for a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker on County Road 39 in the Town of Bainbridge. The Trooper detected the odor of marihuana in the vehicle, a search found about 28 grams of marijuana. Ciraola was arraigned in the Town of Bainbridge Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $500 cash bail or $2,500 property bond. His next court date is on June 27, 2017.
Another American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held today in Norwich, at the offices of Commerce Chenango at 15 South Broad Street. The drive will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 PM, Parking is available in the city lot behind Hummel's, with access to the Commerce Chenango offices from that lot. The Sidney Emergency Squad announced that they will hold a free community C.P.R. training class on Saturday. Spokesman Ray Baker explains:

Baker said that the event will be held at the Sidney fire department training center on River Street from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Squad Members will answer questions & teach the new CPR techniques.
On Saturday, the Gilbertsville Village Improvement Society will celebrate its 136th birthday with a Gilbert Block Party from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be live music, a silent auction and a raffle. All proceeds will go to fund the restoration for the re-installation of the original Gilbert Block Victorian soda fountain at the Gilbertsville Value Way.
