Police in Troy have released the names of the 4 victims in a quadruple homicide in a basement apartment. Police reported that the bodies of 5-year-old Shanise Myers, 11-year-old Jeremiah Myers, their mother 36 year old Shanta Myers and 22 year old Brandi Mells were found dead Tuesday afternoon, Police are trying to determine when the murders occurred and who committed the murders. Troy Police are receiving assistance from the State Police.

A new cub recently came to reside at Animal Adventure Park, The female cub is 3 months old, its addition will be will be celebrated on World Lion Day, Friday, August 10th, with the celebrations continuing throughout the weekend.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34 year old Russell Mills of Delancey for Criminal Mischief. Mills is accused of intentionally preventing another person from placing a 911 phone call to law enforcement during a domestic dispute. Mills was arraigned & was released on his own recognizance; he will reappear in the Town of Hamden Court for further court proceedings at a later date.
New York Farm Bureau has released its annual “Circle of Friends,” naming 172 New York State Legislators to this year’s list. The “Circle of Friends” honor is based upon each legislator’s voting record on issues of agricultural importance as well as other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that New York Farm Bureau has either supported this year. Local “Circle of Friends” recipients for 2017 are State senator’s Fred Akshar, John Bonacic, Jim Seward & Assembly Members Cliff Crouch, Gary Finch, Pete Lopez, Donna Lupardo & Bill Magee.
The Broome County Legislature approved the proposal to accept $3 million dollars in state money to help turn the former Broome Developmental Center into an Opioid Crisis center operated by a Syracuse Healthcare group. The center could be open as soon as next month, and could treat up to 3200 patients suffering from Opioid Addictions.
The 2017 Greater Binghamton Job & Career Fair is being held today. Many area employers will have representatives at the Job Fair, which is being held at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.

Governor Cuomo announced a new statewide initiative to examine cancer patterns and the potential causes of cancer in 4 regions across the state that have a higher incidence of certain cancers. The Department of Health will be reviewing cancer data, potential demographic and occupational factors, and will consult with the DEC on environmental factors contributing to the cancer clusters.
New York State today filed a notice of intent to sue the Environmental Protection Agency for violating the federal Clean Air Act by failing to curb ground-level ozone pollution that blows into New York from upwind states. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said that at least 1 in 3 New Yorkers breathe air with unhealthy levels of smog pollution. The EPA's own studies demonstrate that pollution from states upwind of New York contributes substantially to the state's dangerous smog problem.
The Oneonta Police Department is asking the local public for assistance, following possible acts of vandalism. The Police Department announced that the bathrooms at Neahwa and Wilber Parks sustained damage within the last few days. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Detective Division at 432-1111 or submit an anonymous tip on the department's facebook Page. to local.nixle.com/tip/city-of-oneonta. New York residents stand to lose more than $72 billion in reported deductions for income and property taxes if proposals to change the federal tax code are implemented, according to a report issued today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Among the deductions the administration has targeted are those for state and local taxes, New Yorkers reported more than $72 billion in such federal deductions in 2015, including $51.7 billion for income taxes and $20.9 billion for property taxes.

State Police arrested 34 year old Michael Graziano of Oneonta, for Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records, after troopers were advised of a theft by an employee that had occurred at Springbrook in the Town of Milford. Graziano allegedly falsified business records to steal over $7,000 in pay; he was arraigned in the Town of Milford Court and was release on his own recognizance. His next court date is on December 12th.
State Senator Fred Akshar, & Assembly Members Donna Lupardo and Cliff Crouch will hold a public Town Hall Meeting today, to discuss the ongoing repurposing of the Broome Developmental Center to provide substance abuse treatment to individuals struggling with addiction. Officials from the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, Syracuse Behavioral Health, Broome County Department of Social Services and the Broome County Health Department will answer questions and address concerns related to the repurposing project. The event will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Chenango Valley High School.
Governor Cuomo announced $7.5 million to construct, rehabilitate and improve the homes of 367 income-eligible families across New York. The funds are awarded through New York State Homes and Community Renewal's Affordable Home Ownership Development Program, administered by the Affordable Housing Corporation. In the Southern Tier, a $600,000 grant will go to Delaware Opportunities for the acquisition and rehabilitation of approximately 15 homes located on scattered sites in Delaware County. $290,000 grant to M-ARK Project, for the acquisition and rehabilitation of approximately 10 homes located in Delaware County.
Governor Cuomo has signed legislation to remove barriers for businesses in New York seeking brand label registration for alcoholic beverages. Currently, the law requires brand label registrations to be filed by certified mail, registered mail or overnight mail. Under the bill the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law will permit brand label registration applications to be submitted electronically and filed every three years, rather than every year. The bill also permits the Authority, or third party, to charge a processing fee for electronic submissions.
Delaware County Public Health will be sponsoring a free EPA Certified Lead Renovator 8-Hr. Training Course today at the Walton Town Hall. ConTrax, LLC is conducting the class. The class is sponsored by Delaware County Public Health; it will include all course materials, manual, refreshments, lunch and certificate of completion. Free tuition offered on a first come basis, with preference given to Delaware County residents, businesses, rental property owners, home improvement contractors and their employees.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office Investigators have arrested 29-year-old Jason Lagano of Erin New York, on a Delaware County Grand Jury Sealed Indictment Warrant issued earlier this year as a part of a narcotics investigation. Lagano was arrested at the Susquehanna County Jail in Montrose, Pennsylvania, where he has been held as a Fugitive from Justice. Lagano is accused of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling methamphetamine in the Town of Deposit earlier this year Lagano was transported back to Delaware County Tuesday, he was arraigned in Delaware County Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail pending further court action.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Department arrested 2 County residents on Drug charges. Deputies arrested Chauncey Couse of Oneonta and Nichole Conklin of Laurens, for 2 counts each of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly selling heroin in the City of Oneonta. Couse was already being held in the Otsego County jail on a previously charge, with Couse's bail set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, Conklin was jailed on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond, pending future court action.
Assembly Republicans are calling for a package of ethics reforms to be passed prior to the end of this year's session. Local Assemblyman Cliff Crouch comments:

The package of bills calls for oversight of economic development plans, Implementing 8-year term limits for legislative leaders and committee chairs; Replacing the Joint Commission on Public Ethics with a new, independent five-member Commission on Official Conduct; Prohibiting the spending of campaign funds for criminal defense fees; and Creating a new crime of failure to report corruption.
The application for the Excelsior Scholarship opened on Wednesday, where SUNY students whose families make up to $125,000, can apply for tuition-free college. Students must be New York State residents, plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY 2 or 4-year college, take 30 credits per year, and graduate on time with an Associate’s Degree in 2 years or a Bachelor’s Degree in 4 years. Recipients must also plan to live in New York State equal to the length of time they received the award. Applications are available at hesc.ny.gov/excelsior; they will be accepted through Friday, July 21st. Over 3,300 students applied on the 1st day Wednesday.
Governor Cuomo today commended the State Senate & Assembly for passing the bill calling for the minimum age of marriage to be raised from 14 to 17. Previously, a child could get married at 14 in the state if approved by the parents & a judge, that has now been raised to 17. Governor Cuomo will sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk.
New York lawmakers held a hearing Wednesday on the effectiveness of state services for victims of human trafficking. Government officials and representatives of advocacy groups and community service providers testified Wednesday, earlier this year the Assembly passed a package of bills addressing human trafficking, those bills have not yet been addressed by the full Senate.
State Police were alerted to an alleged threat on Facebook that 2 students at Harpursville High School were going to "shoot up the school". The alleged perpetrators were 2 subjects that came into the State Police barracks in Kirkwood to report what was posted. State Police and Harpursville School District administrators determined that there was no credible threat and that the posting was done by a third party. State Police arrested a 15-year-old student and they were charged with making a terroristic threat. The student was released to the custody of their parent and will appear in Family Court at a later date.

Otsego & Delaware Counties will lift their travel bans at 6:00 PM, Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced that due to the large amount of snow on city streets, all street parking is prohibited until further notice, regulations at the city parking lots & municipal garage will be suspended. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution if they must drive.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced the indictment of 12 members of a criminal theft and fencing ring in New York and 27 other states. A 41-count indictment, unsealed in New York Supreme Court today, charged the 12 alleged co-conspirators with enterprise corruption, money laundering, criminal possession of stolen property and conspiracy. During "Operation Sticky Fingers," State Police & other law enforcement agencies seized more than 5,300 stolen electronics and ink cartridges from the enterprise's alleged kingpin, Richard Rimbaugh; and from various members of his crew. millions of dollars in merchandise was stolen from Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, and other retailers, investigators also seized more than $7.7 million dollars from the defendants' homes, financial institutions, and their Amazon and Pay Pal accounts.

A fire at Munson's Building Supplies on Oneonta's East End was extinguished quickly this morning. The fire was electrical in nature and only minimal damage was reported. Fire fighters from Oneonta, Pindars Corners, Otego & Milford responded.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that Securities industry profitability rose by 21%, while the average bonus paid to employees in New York City’s securities industry increased by 1% to $138,210. Pretax profits for the broker/dealer operations of New York Stock Exchange member firms, totaled $17.3 billion in 2016, the highest level in four years. The industry added 2,800 jobs in 2014 and 4,500 jobs in 2015.
1 person was killed & 8 people escaped from the Skylark Motel Fire in Vestal Tuesday Morning. Officials said that fire fighters were slowed down getting to the scene by the winter storm; the name of the deceased has not yet been released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
17 year old Kyle Jaramillo of Oneonta was arrested by City police after they allegedly found drugs and stolen goods in his apartment. Jaramillo was charged with 2nd degree burglary. Grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a controlled substance & endangering the welfare of a Minor, Police seized heroin, televisions, stereo speakers, an air rifle and sneakers that were reported stolen recently for an Oneonta residence. The investigation is continuing, anyone with information is asked to contact Oneonta Police Detectives at 432-1111 option 4. All tips will remain confidential.

Female lawmakers in New York say early voting would make it easier for all New Yorkers - and particularly women - to cast a ballot. Several legislators on Monday urged Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders to include early voting and automatic voter registration in the state budget expected to be approved by April 1. Compared to other states New York has low voter turnout rates and is one of a minority of states that still doesn't allow early voting.
A new bill is proposing a requirement for gender-neutral bathrooms in New York State. The Legislation was introduced in the Assembly to make all single-occupancy restrooms in public places gender neutral. Traditional signs for men's and women's rooms would be replaced to indicate accessibility to any gender.

Otsego & Delaware Counties will lift their travel bans at 6:00 PM, Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced that due to the large amount of snow on city streets, all street parking is prohibited until further notice, regulations at the city parking lots & municipal garage will be suspended. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution if they must drive.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced the indictment of 12 members of a criminal theft and fencing ring in New York and 27 other states. A 41-count indictment, unsealed in New York Supreme Court today, charged the 12 alleged co-conspirators with enterprise corruption, money laundering, criminal possession of stolen property and conspiracy. During "Operation Sticky Fingers," State Police & other law enforcement agencies seized more than 5,300 stolen electronics and ink cartridges from the enterprise's alleged kingpin, Richard Rimbaugh; and from various members of his crew. millions of dollars in merchandise was stolen from Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, and other retailers, investigators also seized more than $7.7 million dollars from the defendants' homes, financial institutions, and their Amazon and Pay Pal accounts.

A fire at Munson's Building Supplies on Oneonta's East End was extinguished quickly this morning. The fire was electrical in nature and only minimal damage was reported. Fire fighters from Oneonta, Pindars Corners, Otego & Milford responded.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that Securities industry profitability rose by 21%, while the average bonus paid to employees in New York City’s securities industry increased by 1% to $138,210. Pretax profits for the broker/dealer operations of New York Stock Exchange member firms, totaled $17.3 billion in 2016, the highest level in four years. The industry added 2,800 jobs in 2014 and 4,500 jobs in 2015.
1 person was killed & 8 people escaped from the Skylark Motel Fire in Vestal Tuesday Morning. Officials said that fire fighters were slowed down getting to the scene by the winter storm; the name of the deceased has not yet been released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
17 year old Kyle Jaramillo of Oneonta was arrested by City police after they allegedly found drugs and stolen goods in his apartment. Jaramillo was charged with 2nd degree burglary. Grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a controlled substance & endangering the welfare of a Minor, Police seized heroin, televisions, stereo speakers, an air rifle and sneakers that were reported stolen recently for an Oneonta residence. The investigation is continuing, anyone with information is asked to contact Oneonta Police Detectives at 432-1111 option 4. All tips will remain confidential.

Female lawmakers in New York say early voting would make it easier for all New Yorkers - and particularly women - to cast a ballot. Several legislators on Monday urged Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders to include early voting and automatic voter registration in the state budget expected to be approved by April 1. Compared to other states New York has low voter turnout rates and is one of a minority of states that still doesn't allow early voting.
A new bill is proposing a requirement for gender-neutral bathrooms in New York State. The Legislation was introduced in the Assembly to make all single-occupancy restrooms in public places gender neutral. Traditional signs for men's and women's rooms would be replaced to indicate accessibility to any gender.
