Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Christopher Ashton of Otego for Sex Offender Failure to Notify Change of Address. The investigation revealed that Ashton, who is a level 1 sex offender, did not report a change of address to the State Sex Offender Registry within 10 days, he was arrested, processed and was released on an Appearance Ticket to the Town of Middlefield Court at a later date, he was being held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility on a parole warrant.

State Police arrested 62 year old Kenneth Friedlander of Oneonta for Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Menacing and Resisting Arrest, after Troopers were dispatched to Oneida Village Mobile Home Park in the town of Oneonta. Friedlander is accused of attempting to set a trailer on fire with a paper bag that he set on fire, and threatening to kill people, he barricaded himself in a bedroom, when the Troopers made contact with him, he charged at the Troopers with a pair of scissors, he continued to resist arrest, even after a taser was deployed but was ultimately placed in handcuffs. Friedlander was processed and was transported to the Otsego County Jail for Central Arraignment.

The State DEC collected the fox from the Town of Otsego on September 9th, it was held until tested this week, there were no animal or human exposures. 49 year old Keith Audette of Hamden pleaded guilty to Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, in Delaware County Court Tuesday, Audette admitted that he had been previously convicted of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated in Chenango County in 2015, he also admitted that he drove a motor vehicle in the Village of Walton on April 9th while under the influence of methamphetamine. Audette is expected to be sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision, and his license will be revoked, he will also be required to pay any fines and surcharges imposed by the Court.

A check for $4,000 was presented by the Rotary Club of Cooperstown to support a partnership between Bassett Healthcare Network’s Cancer Institute and the Cooperstown Food Pantry that delivers free food to cancer patients in need across the region. The matching grant, made up of a $2,000 grant from Central New York Rotary and a $2,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Cooperstown, will help the program continue. The Cooperstown Food Pantry, located at 25 Church Street, & currently serves between 45 to 50 households.

Troopers were dispatched to the report of children locked inside a hot vehicle and screaming at the Oneonta Walmart parking lot on a 99 degree day. The children were exhibiting signs of distress from the heat, Good Samaritans gave the children water, they were removed from the car and were taken to Fox Hospital & 39 year old Kurtis Carpel of Mount Upton, NY was charged with 2 counts of Reckless Endangerment and 3 counts of Aggravated Driving While Impaired with Child as Passenger after an investigation revealed that he was impaired. Carpel was taken to Otsego County Jail for Centralized Processing and Arraignment.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced that 27 year old Brandon Morse of Edmeston was charged with cashing a stolen check last month was arrested again over the weekend for falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement. Morse is accused of lying to authorities about a man outside of his residence with a gun. Prior to the February arrest, Morse allegedly stole a $3,500 check from a local business and cashed it illegally. Morse was released with an appearance ticket and is due back in court at a later date.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 34 year old Ashley Williams of Laurens on 2 counts of Torturing or Injuring Animals/Failure to Provide Sustenance. Williams was arrested following an investigation into a report of loose horses in the road in the Town of Laurens on December 11th of last year. During the course of the investigation, it was found that Williams did not provided proper care for her animals, Williams was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Laurens Court for a later date.

Deputies found 23-year-old Bayso Vannavongsa of Binghamton early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Country Club with a non-life threatening wound to his chest. He was transported to Wilson Hospital for evaluation. State police attempted to stop the vehicle that allegedly left the scene, and the 2 occupants, Savannah Perry and Carson Vanco of Endicott, fled but were found on Powderhouse Road. Police accuse Vanco of shooting the arrow at Vannavongsa, The investigation is on-going and criminal charges are expected.

State Police responded to Otsego County Highway 13 and Hawks Road in the town of Pittsfield for a report of a vehicle on fire with a person trapped inside. Troopers learned that firefighters were already on scene and confirmed that the vehicle was fully engulfed with a person inside who was deceased. An investigation revealed that the 36-year-old female operator went off the roadway, struck an embankment and a tree.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 20 year old Christopher Becker of Unadilla for Criminal Mischief and Menacing, after a trooper responded to a report of a man who broke windows at the Betty Beavers Gas Station in the town of Otego. Becker allegedly broke windows of the store and threatened the owner of the gas station with a golf club. He was arrested on scene by a trooper and was transported to Otsego County Central Arraignment and Processing.

Wolle is accused of performing a lewd act in the presence of minors, he was sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at a later date. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the family.

In the town of Morris, portions of Dimock Hollow Road, Gulf Road & Pittsley Road are closed.
