The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual “Commitment to Community” Dinner Saturday night. The event will be held at the Sundown Golf & Country Club starting @ 6:00 pm. This year's guest speakers will include State Senator Fred Akshar and Assemblyman Cliff Crouch.

The 2nd annual “Scare Fest” will be held on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the Otsego County Fair Grounds in Morris. Events planned are Hayrides, pumpkin carving contest, pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling and trick-or-treating on the fairgrounds from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The Greater Afton Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual fundraising golf tournament Sunday at 9:00 AM at the Afton Golf Course; Proceeds raised this year will benefit the Afton Community Theater.

Governor Cuomo defeated Cynthia Nixon easily for the Democratic Party Primary for Governor, also winning statewide Primary Elections were Kathy Hochul for Lieutenant Governor, & Letitia James for Attorney General. Local State Assembly incumbents Cliff Crouch & Bill Magee won their Primary challenges by large margins. Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin Jr. won his Primary election for the Republican nomination over challenger Robert Fernandez.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce announced that TEDxOneonta will host a “Ted” talk event tonight at the Goodrich Theater at the SUNY Oneonta campus. A variety of topics will be covered, tickets are available at tedxoneonta.com.

Oneonta officials invite Main Street businesses to an information session related to the Downtown Oneonta Improvement Fund on Friday at 8:30 AM at the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce offices at 189 Main Street in Oneonta. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Improvement Fund, which is a grant program to provide property and business owners a flexible funding mechanism to improve properties located within the Downtown DRI boundaries. Oneonta Police arrested 2 residents Tuesday on Drug charges after they executed a search warrant at the Mayrose Apartments on Lewis Avenue. Police arrested 56 year old Doris Frimpong & 31 year old Dashawn Braxton on 4 counts each of criminal sale of a controlled substance. Police confiscated crack cocaine & powered cocaine, packaged for sale, both were being held in the Otsego County jail pending court action.

State Police arrested 36 year old Henry Kortekaas of Laurens for Menacing & Resisting Arrest, after Troopers responded to a report of a fight in progress on Main Street in the village of Laurens. Kortekaas is accused of threatening 2 people with a knife, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond, pending action today in Laurens Court.

22 year old Richard Garreau of Sherburne has been arrested by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department, for allegedly stealing 5 guns and several other items from a Laurens residence. Garreau was allowed to live with and was given a job by the victim, who discovered that the items were gone once Garreau moved out. Garreau was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond pending court action.

Dairy farmers may be able to get money back from the revised Margin Protection Program this month, but they have to sign up before June 1st in order to benefit. Farm Service Agency representatives in each county office across New York State are available to meet with dairy farmers to discuss the program and its anticipated returns for each particular farmer and help farmers sign up if they are not already enrolled. FSA representatives are available in Delaware County at 865-4005 and in Otsego County at 547-8131.

The 4th annual Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Association Golf Tournament will be held on June 3rd at the Sidney Golf & Country Club, as a fundraiser for future work at the Sidney at River Street near State Route 8. Spokesman Tom Ruff explains:

Country music star Blake Shelton was announced today as this year's concert at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open. The Golf Tournament will run from August 13th to August 19th at En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott. The concert will be held the evening of Friday, August 17th, tickets go on sale March 28th through Ticketmaster.

Oneonta City Police arrested 30-year-old John Smith of Oneonta & 24-year-old Duane Oates of Schenectady foo multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, for allegedly possessing cocaine in their vehicle. Both men face action in Oneonta city court shortly; additionally Oates was wanted on a parole warrant & was sent to the Otsego County jail.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Department announced a missing persons alert, for 60 Year old Margaret Thayer, who is described as white, female, 5'5" tall 140 pounds, hazel eyes, she wears glasses, and may have been wearing a maroon winter coat.
