The Norwich Theatre Company will perform the Neil Simon classic "Barefoot In The Park" next month, at the Martin W. Kappel Theatre in Norwich, Chenango Arts Council spokesperson Mary Beth Miller said that the tickets will be available tomorrow & auditions will be later this week:

Oneonta Police Department responded Thursday to the report of several loud popping sounds at the Town House Inn at 318 Main Street. Officers discovered that a firearm had been discharged in the parking lot, no firearms were found at the scene. The Investigation indicates that no individuals were injured and unoccupied vehicles had been struck by the projectiles. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Oneonta Police Department at (607) 432-1111.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25 year old Tyler Gano of Worcester for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, following an investigation in to a report of motor vehicle that was stolen from the Hartwick Commons parking lot in October of 2022. The motor vehicle was located abandoned in Worcester, Gano was located Saturday in Oneonta and was taken in to custody by deputies. The defendant was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.

Otsego County Department of Health will have a free rabies vaccination clinic today for Dogs, Cats & Ferrets today at the Neahwa Park Pavilion in Oneonta. The clinic runs from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, more information is available at 607-547-4230.

The State DEC has issued a Air Quality Health Advisory for Fine Particulates until midnight tonight, across most of the state, due to wildfire burning in Quebec. The State Health Department reported that short-term health effects include irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and shortness of breath. Exposure to elevated levels of fine particulate matter can also worsen medical conditions such as asthma and heart disease. More information is available at on.ny.gov/nyaqi or 800-535-1345.

Oneonta City Police are investigating the death of a man found in a Fox Hospital Bathroom on May 31st. The identity of the deceased has not been announced, Fox Hospital officials said that the man was not a patient, Emergency personnel attempted to revive the man unsuccessfully. The results of an autopsy performed Monday in Binghamton have not been released, foul play is not suspected.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce announced that potential public transportation options for Delaware County will be the topic of a presentation on May 16 at 11:00 am in the Meeting Room of the Delaware County Business Center at 5 ½ Main Street in Delhi. The Chamber has been working with County and State officials, private transportation operators, healthcare and human service organizations, regional employers, and national transportation associations on a 7-month study of public transit options. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Rex Jordan for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, DWI, Unlawful Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & Numerous other Vehicle and Traffic violations. An Otsego County Sheriff’s deputy and State Parks Police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on State Highway 205, Jordan failed to comply and became involved in a 1 car motor vehicle accident, he was taken to Bassett Hospital. Police discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out Oneonta. Jordan was discharged from Bassett before charges were filed, A warrant was issued & he was located by the Oneonta City Police Department who arrested him on unrelated charges. Jordan was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility, Additional charges are pending.

A.O. Fox Hospital and Bassett Healthcare Network announced that FoxCare Fitness in Oneonta will be closing permanently as of June 1 for Gym memberships, Spokesperson Gabby Argo told WCDO News that the pandemic made things harder for the facility to remain open as a Gym:

Argo said that Bassett has been discussing a possible collaboration with the Oneonta YMCA but so far no agreement has been reached. The last day of operations at FoxCare Fitness will be May 31.

The City of Oneonta announced that a safety concern on the exit ramp in the City’s Parking Garage located on Market Street, The ramp was immediately closed Monday and a structural engineer brought in , who advised that repairs to the ramp are required before it can be safely re-opened to vehicular traffic. The top level of the parking garage and the exit ramp will remain closed until those repairs can be made. Also, City officials announced that their contractor, R.B. Robinson Contracting, will begin construction for Gardner Place Street Reconstruction project on Wednesday, This project will continue thru the end of June 2023. Work includes replacement of sanitary and storm sewer mains, including new sewer laterals to residents and businesses, and full street reconstruction including some sidewalks and curbs followed by final restoration and stripping.

19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro announced he will host town halls in Otsego, Delaware Counties next week, Molinaro said that the town halls will be an important part of his tenure in Congress:

A.O. Fox Hospital and Bassett Healthcare Network announced today that FoxCare Fitness in Oneonta will be closing permanently as of June 1. Hospital and network leadership reached the decision following an extended period of declining membership and operational challenges, many of which are directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last day of operations at FoxCare Fitness will be May 31.
