Oneonta police chief Dennis Naylor announced today that he has accepted a position at the Director of Research, Development & Training with the New York State Association of chiefs of Police. Naylor will continue to serve as Oneonta Police Chief through mid- January 2017.

Crowds gathered at the Eichler residence on Country Club Road in Oneonta this morning to witness a 94-foot Norwegian Spruce tree being removed; it will become the 2nd tallest Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree ever. The tree was removed this morning; it will be transported to New York City, where the set up will begin Saturday. The tree will be lit up as part of a nationwide broadcast on November 30th.

The Oneonta city planning commission meeting scheduled for November 16th has been cancelled. The next regular meeting will be held on December 21st in the Common Council chambers at Oneonta City Hall at 7:00 PM.

A rally in support of the Sioux at Standing Rock of North Dakota is being held this afternoon in the Muller Plaza in Oneonta from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Delaware County Public Health, SUNY Delhi and A.O. Fox and O’Connor Hospitals will be hosting an event on campus at the Okun Theatre in Farrell Hall at SUNY Delhi today at 12:30 pm, entitled “Painting SUNY Delhi Yellow Day”. the event is designed to help prevent the spread of the Human Papillomavirus. On Wednesday Oneonta Police assisted the Otsego County probation Department with items located during a routine visit of a person on probation. Officer confiscated 40 bags of heroin, Packaging materials, Scales & A small quantity of marijuana, police arrested 30 year old Daniel Londner of Oneonta for Criminal possession of a controlled substance, Criminally using of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana, Londner was held pending arraignment in the City of Oneonta Court

The 11th Annual OH-Fest, a sponsored by Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta is Saturday, with a carnival on Main Street from 1;00 to 5:00 PM, featuring games, bands, street performers, inflatable rides, arts and craft vendors, food vendors, and more. At Neahwa Park, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a free rap concert.

Tri-Town Theatre will feature their production of The Odd Couple directed by Tri Town Theatre's founder Jack Deuel. The city of Oneonta & Otsego Now will host an informational meeting for area business people, regarding Governor Cuomo’s 6th round of consolidated funding applications. Oneonta Police, State Police BCI, State University Police at Oneonta and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department with K9 Ozzie, served a search warrant at 9-11 Elm Street in Oneonta Thursday. Police seized marijuana, prescription medication and $4,000 cash, they arrested 21 year old Glen Carey, from Malverne, 21 year old Gregory Garcia of Franklin Square, 21 year old Nicholas Monaco of Nyack for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. the 3 are accused of possessing Xanax Pills, Marijuana, counterfeit $50 bills, they were being held pending arraignment in the City of Oneonta Court.

Chenango River Theatre will host its 9th Annual Big Cash Raffle from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Saturday, at the Genegantslet Golf Club. $9,550 in cash prizes will be awarded to the 7 lucky ticket holders with winning numbers – only 250 tickets will be sold.
