Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 42 year old Christopher Devins of Milford, for Sex Offender Failure to Report Change in Status, following an investigation in to a report of a Registered Sex Offender operating a Facebook account not listed on his sex offender registry, and doing so under a false name. Additionally, Devins was found to have prior convictions of violations of the sex offender registry, he was located by deputies at his residence in the Town of Milford and taken in to custody without incident, he was processed and turned over to corrections staff to await further court proceedings.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Benjamin Combes of New Lisbon on 38 counts of Criminal Contempt. The Investigation revealed that Combes contacted the protected party of an order of protection 38 times while incarcerated in the Otsego County Correctional Facility. Combes was processed and returned to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await further court proceedings.


The United Way of Mid Rural New York Campaign Ends, & they are seeking donations to try to meet their annual goal. Donations help various programs, donations can be made online at uwmrny.org/Donate.


A 2025 Virtual Challenge hosted by the Bainbridge Glow Run will benefit former B-G Bobcat Apryl Mazepa, who has been battling cancer for 14 years and needs financial assistance to pay for medical expenses. Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation that requires large fossil fuel companies to pay for critical projects while creating a ‘Climate Superfund’ to support New York-based projects that bolster New York’s resiliency to climate impacts like flooding and extreme heat, it also closes a loophole that broadens laws against "Fracking" in New York State.


New York Farm Bureau announced that Governor Hochul signed 10 bills into law that were endorsed by them this year. 1 law authorizes the direct intrastate and interstate shipment of alcoholic beverages, which allows distilleries & cideries the same shipping privileges enjoyed by wineries and liquor stores, another Clarifies the law that requires each livestock and equine rescue facility to hold a Domestic Animal Health Permit and another Allows the DEC commissioner to enter into contracts for maple tree tapping and sap production on state lands, another new law allows for fresh produce from farms for incarcerated individuals.

A Flood Warning continues for The Delaware River near Delhi, it has crested and is expected to fall below Minor Flood Stage this morning. At the West Branch of the Delaware River At Walton, Minor flooding is occurring and the river is expected to fall below flood stage late today and continue falling until early Sunday morning, Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.


State Police and local law enforcement agencies will participate in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, through January 1, 2025. In addition to the DWI checkpoints and patrols, law enforcement officers will be watching for speeding drivers, distracted drivers and drivers violating the “Move Over Law,” which requires motorists to exercise extreme caution when passing any vehicle that is stopped in or on the side of the road.


Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Matthew Baird of Columbus, for Sexual Abuse, Forcible Touching, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, after they received a complaint of Sexual Abuse. Baird was accused of having sexual contact with a juvenile victim. Baird was arraigned in Chenango County Centralized Arraignment where he was remanded to the custody of the Chenango County Correctional Division on $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, and a $75,000 partially secure bond at 10%.


The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37 year old William Killenberger of Worcester on multiple charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Investigators received information that Killenberger was in possession of firearms at his residence in East Worcester, After execution of the search warrant, multiple firearms were located with corresponding ammunition. Killenberger was previously in custody following an unrelated incident and was processed and was then lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 36 year old Justin Baker of Sidney was sentenced to 2 and ½ years in prison and 1 year of post-release supervision In court on Monday. Baker was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, after having admitted to possessing methamphetamine in the Village of Sidney on September 11, 2023. Baker was also ordered to provide a sample of his DNA for inclusion in the State DNA data bank and to pay fines and surcharges, he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to begin serving his sentence.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Joshua Hunt of Unadilla for failure to notify a Change of Address, as stipulated by the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Hunt is accused of relocating from his residence in the Town of Unadilla and did not make the proper notifications to the Sex Offender Registry, an arrest warrant was applied for and issued by the Town of Middlefield Court, Hunt was located by the Sidney Police Department and turned over to deputies on the warrant. Hunt was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.


The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is participating in the "No Empty Chair" campaign, this week. The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies statewide are stepping up their enforcement near area high schools. These patrols will focus on a different traffic safety threat each day of the week including cell phone use and texting while driving, speeding in school zones, seat belts and child restraints, graduated driver license provisions and underage drinking and impaired driving. The campaign occurs each year prior to Proms & Graduations for High school Students, motor vehicle crashes continue to be a leading cause of death and serious injury for people ages 16-20.


The Investigation continues into the murder of 12-year-old Aliza Spencer, with a collaborative effort by the Binghamton Police Department, State Police & the FBI. On April 21, 2021, Spencer was shot and killed while walking with her family near their home on Bigelow Street in Binghamton. There is a $32,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest. Student applications and pre-recorded audition submissions are due by Monday, April 29, 2024, The Mid-York Scholarship Committee will select and notify a winner by Friday, May 3, 2024. Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies and Corrections Officers are now equipped with a new FDA-approved opioid antagonist will be carried in addition to Narcan by select members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Road Patrol and the Corrections divisions as part of a pilot program. The new “Fentanyl Fighter,” drug is a nasal spray designed to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and quickly help restore blood pressure, breathing and consciousness to those experiencing a potentially fatal overdose.

The State Comptroller's office audited the Deposit Village Board, the audit found that the Village Board made 93 credit card purchases during the audit period, they did not ensure compliance with the Village’s credit card policy and approved 83 credit card purchases totaling $20,659 without the required supporting documents to show funds were being expended for legitimate Village purposes. The audit's Recommendation was to Ensure the deputy clerk complies with the Village’s credit card policy and that each claim has sufficient supporting documentation before authorizing payment. Village officials planned corrective action.


The American Red Cross will hold another Blood Drive today in Delhi. Today's Drive will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Delhi Alliance Church, on State Route 28, appointments can be made at RedCrossBlood.org, with the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 79 year old Ronald Johnson of Cooperstown for forcible touching & harassment. Johnson was charged following a complaint in the Town of Hartwick, where Johnson, while working in his capacity as a Realtor, is accused of forcibly touching the intimate parts of another person while the defendant was conducting a house showing. Johnson was arrested by investigators this week, he was processed and was being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for arraignment.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 32 year old Kayla Lum of Burlington Flats for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, Operating a vehicle without the required interlock device, among other related charges. Lum was issued tickets to appear in court at a later date, the Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Otsego County Probation Department.

33 year old Corey Koch of Deposit pleaded guilty to Attempted Burglary in Delaware County Court, for illegally entering the First Baptist Church located in the town of Deposit, and stealing property. Koch will likely be sentenced to a 5-year term of felony probation supervision, if he violates the terms and conditions of his probation, he faces 1 and 1/3 to 4 years in state prison.


Congressman Marc Molinaro & House Speaker Mike Johnson will meet Thursday at 1:00pm at the Broome County Sheriff's Office in Binghamton, where they will meet with Deputies, law enforcement from neighboring departments, local emergency responders, they will discuss public safety issues and funding for law enforcement.

Firefighters in Greene responded Wednesday afternoon to a fire at a barn on Chenango County Route 32. No injuries were reported, the owner was able to remove all 4 horses from the barn safely, the structure was a total loss.
