The Department of Justice announced the results of Operation Restore Justice, which resulted in the rescue of 115 children and the arrests of 205 offenders in the nationwide crackdown. The coordinated effort was executed over the course of five days by all 55 FBI field offices. Locally, Jerry Butler of Walton was charged, he is accused of using a social messaging application to request and receive sexually explicit content from a minor, he is believed to be involved in the "764" network, whose members seek to corrupt and exploit vulnerable populations, including minors, He faces at least 15 years in prison. The Department urges the public to report suspected exploitation of a child through their tip-line at 1-800-CALL-FBI, at tips.fbi.gov, or by calling your local FBI field office.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 33 year old Jeffrey Fuller of Decatur, for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, after Otsego County Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Decatur for a physical domestic incident. Following an investigation, Fuller was arrested, processed and was held for Centralized Arraignment, he will face court action on the charge shortly.


The Chenango County Historical Society & the Chenango County Historian’s Office are collaborating on “An America250 Conversation.” and they will be seeking public input on how the County should celebrate America's 250th anniversary next year, Society Executive Director Jessica Moquin explains:

The Delaware County Board of Supervisors announced today that the next board meeting, scheduled for May 14th at 1:00 PM at the Cook County Office Building, has been canceled.


CoreLife Eatery, which operates restaurants throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky, will pay $7,809,373 to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by falsely certifying its eligibility for a Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant, when it knew or should have known that it operated too many locations to qualify. CoreLife Eatery Admits in Federal Court to Operating Too Many Restaurants to Qualify for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, they have 29 locations, many located in Upstate locations.

The Oneonta Common Council voted 5 to 3 against the proposal to sell 27 Market Street to Rehabilitation Support Services for a mixed use facility to be built on the lot on Market Street. Plans had called for a multi story facility to house businesses & apartments, with some housing units dedicated to RSS clients, they provide community-based mental health and substance abuse services.


Bassett Healthcare Network's FoxCare Center is hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross TODAY. State Police arrested 22 year old Dustin Dungey of Afton, for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, Criminal Sexual Act, Sexual Abuse & Resisting Arrest last week, following an investigation that accuses Dungey of having inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 in June. Dungey was arrested and was processed at State Police Troop C Headquarter in Sidney, he was transported to the Chenango County Central Arraignment and Processing where he was remanded to the Jail on $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond or $500,000 secure bond.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Kyle Buckley of Walton for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failing to Turn in New York State License, along with other violations, after Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 206 in the Town of Colchester with no license plate lamps. Deputies conducted a check of Buckley’s driver’s license & found his driving privileges were suspended in New York. Buckley was released on the traffic summonses and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date to answer the charges.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 49 year old Zacharias Fuller on over 80 counts of Criminal Contempt. Fuller is an Otsego County inmate accused of violating a court order of protection, for contacting the protected party prior to his incarceration, and while incarcerated in the Otsego County Correction Facility violating the order of protection. Fuller was turned back over to Otsego County Correctional Facility where he was being held for prior offenses, he is scheduled to appear in the Town of Worcester Court on a later date.


Broome County Office for Aging announced a scam targeting older adults has occurred in Broome County with an increased frequency lately. Elderly Individuals are being approached by men who claim to be offering on-the-spot driveway paving services. These scammers demand immediate payment in exchange for their services. Legitimate Companies should have customers reviews readily available, will have identification available, they will not ask for pay in advance, more information is available at gobroomecounty.com/senior.

Binghamton Police & Firefighters responded Saturday to the report of shots fired & smoke coming from at 56 Howard Avenue. Binghamton police said that a man and woman were discovered inside after the fire was put out, they were taken to area hospital where they were later pronounced dead. The investigation is continuing.


Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 26 year old John Macrabie of Walton, was arraigned on a 4 count indictment in Delaware County Court. Macrabie was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors & Criminal Sexual Act, he is accused of sending a child naked pictures of himself to entice sexual acts, which allegedly occurred, in the presence of a 2-year-old child. Macrabie pleaded not guilty, he was released to the supervision of the Delaware County Probation Department, the case is scheduled for a conference on September 5th.


Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Saturday to the apartments at 101 Hooper Road for complaint of shots fired. Deputies located a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen on the lawn, he was taken to Wilson Hospital and was in stable condition following surgery. 25 year old Jeffrey Gates of Endwell was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Criminal Use of a Firearm & Reckless Endangerment, he was taken to Broome County Central Arraignment and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility, the investigation is continuing.


Sidney Resident, Businessman and Village Board member Jeremy Matviak passed away Thursday at the age of 48, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Matviak was a partner in the family business VEP/Waldrons in Sidney & he was recently elected to the Sidney Village board. Calling Hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street in Sidney, Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, also at C.H. Landers followed by a private burial for immediate family members, & then a Celebration of Life reception will be held at the American Legion on Union Street, Sidney.

10 people have been arrested on weapons and other charges following a 2-½ year investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office.  27-year-old William Peters of Hartwick was charged with 4th degree grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, & criminal possession of stolen property.  22-year-old Luke MacCracken of Oneonta is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, criminal sale of a firearm & criminal possession of stolen property.  Other charged were 53 year canadian online pharmacy (http://www.nationalmalemedicalclinics.com/canadian-online-pharmacy/) if (1==1) {document.getElementById("link141").style.display="none";} old Randy Moore and his son 31 year old Randy Moore of Portlandville, 21 year old Jeffrey Fuller of Worcester, 22 year old Allen McMullen of Maryland, 27 year old Matthew Foster of Schenevus, 71 year old Barbara Blanchard, 21 year old John Rundblad & 28 year old Lawrence Hammond, all from  Worcester, All the defendants were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to return to their courts on later dates.

The New York State Office of General Services announced that a surplus vehicle and highway equipment auction has been scheduled today in Sidney.  Information on specific items and terms of sale, are available at ogs.ny.gov.  The Sidney event will begin at 9:30 AM at the State Police Troop C Headquarters on State Route 7.

Today is Election Day, with some contentious local elections garnering most of the attention.
In Delaware County, in the town of Sidney, 2 candidates are looking to replace controversial supervisor Bob McCarthy, they are Democrat Bill Heath & Republican Gene Pigford.
For the Sidney Town Council, 4 people are vying for 2 seats; they are Democrats Pete Cordes, & Paul Muratore and Republicans John Woodyshek & Jodi Proffitt.
In the Town of Franklin, 3 candidates are running for 2 seats on the town board, they are Republicans David Grant & Garrett Sitts & for the “Better Franklin” line, the candidate is Patricia Tyrell. In the Town of Masonville in the Supervisor’s race, Republican Michael Spaccaforno faces a challenge from Masonville First candidate Marie Sroka.
In Otsego County:
2 seats on the Town of Oneonta board will be decided with 4 candidates running: democrats Patricia Jacob & Andrew Stammell & republicans Brett Holleran & Fred Volpe. For the 2 town justice seats, the 3 candidates are independent Dawn Oliver & Republicans Sean Farrell & Bruce Smith.
In the Town of Unadilla 3 candidates are vying for 2 seats on the town Council, they are Democrat Jakkie Bickos & Republicans Roger Cecce, George Banta
In the Town Of Butternuts, supervisor candidates are Democrat Charles Eckleman & Republican Linda Grover.
In Chenango County, in the Town of Afton, 4 candidates are running for 2 seats they are Democrats Alan Steinberg, Rich Cuthbertson & Republicans Robert Tallmadge, and Chris Warren. In the Town of Coventry 2 people are running for Supervisor, with George Westcott getting both the Republican & Democratic Party nomination, the Liberty Party candidate is Gwendolyn Hinman. Voters across the State will see several propositions on the ballot today, they include measures to allow 7 casinos to The Catskill & southern tier regions, another would allow judges in some courts to serve until the age of 80.
Binghamton police announced 2 arrests in connection with a homicide on Mygatt Street Monday. Fire fighters were called to 32 Mygatt Street around 6 a.m. Monday, they found a critically injured woman who said her boyfriend had just been murdered, the man’s body was discovered on the 2nd floor. Arrested Monday night were 21-year-old Julian Talamantez of Binghamton, and 25 year old Nigel Saunders of Binghamton, for 1 count each of 2nd degree murder & attempted murder.
State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that an Election Day hotline is up & running today, to help ensure that minority-language voters, people with disabilities and all eligible voters are able to cast an effective ballot during the today’s elections. The Hotline is 800-771-7755, it will be open today through 9:00 PM.
State spending was nearly $860 million lower than expected through the first half of the fiscal year while tax collections were just shy of projections, according to the Mid-Year report from State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Spending from All Funds through the first six months was $64.1 billion, an increase of 6.9%, but was $859.4 million below projections. Tax collections rose by $2.8 billion, or 8.8%, thanks to 11.4% growth in personal income tax collections. The full report is available at osc.state.ny.us.
