The United States Attorney's Office announced that 20 year old Jerry Butler of Walton pleaded guilty in US District Court to receiving child pornography. Butler admitted that in January and February 2025, he used a social media messaging application to receive child sexual abuse material from an out-of-state minor victim. Butler exchanged approximately 20,000 messages with the victim in which Butler persuaded the victim to create and send him sexually explicit depictions of herself, or he would publicly embarrass her if she did not comply with his demands. Butler faces a term of imprisonment of at least 5 years and up to 20 years in prison when sentenced in October, he also faces a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life. Butler will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The Department of Justice announced the results of Operation Restore Justice, which resulted in the rescue of 115 children and the arrests of 205 offenders in the nationwide crackdown. The coordinated effort was executed over the course of five days by all 55 FBI field offices. 3 murder suspects are in custody after a joint police operation between the U.S. Marshals, Southern Tier SWAT Team, the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force and the Endicott Police Department Wednesday night. U.S. Marshals Service notified Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies of 3 murder suspects possibly staying in Endicott, for a murder, robbery & Arson on January 20th in Norristown, Pennsylvania. A search warrant was obtained for 1104 Monroe Street in Endicott, the law enforcement agencies executed the search warrant & arrested 29 year old Daquan Allen, 18 year old Damon Brantley & 28 year old Jerry Butler, they were taken to the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility as fugitives from justice, where they were remanded, & are awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.

Toys for Tots works with the U.S. Marine Corps to provide a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. The Toys for Tots program was created in 1947 and has distributed 584 million toys to date to 265 million children.

Otsego County Sheriff's Department arrested 41 year old Jeremiah Butler of the town of Maryland, following an investigation into a November 13th motor vehicle accident in the Town of Middlefield. Butler was charged with Felony DWI, operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC of .08 of higher, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable & prudent along with other charges, Butler was released on an appearance tickets for Town of Middlefield Court at a later date.
