The State Health Department tested 96,359 New Yorkers for COVID 19 Monday, with 1393 new positives reported, the state total since March is over 466,900. Hospitalizations increased again to 705 statewide, there are 158 patients in ICU Beds & 72 are on Ventilators. There were 9 more deaths reported from the Virus Monday, the state death toll was up to 25,536.
Chenango County Public Health announced their latest COVID 19 numbers this morning; they are up to 262 active cases, with 9 active cases & 3 hospitalizations & 100 Active Quarantines. Chenango county reports 7 deaths, 231 recoveries & they have conducted over 30,300 tests since March.
UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich today announced that they have re-instated visitor restrictions, following the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Chenango County and the Southern Tier. The Visitor Restrictions will be at the hospital and all of its off-site locations, with some limited restrictions regarding end of life patients & pediatric care. In addition, all patients, staff, vendors and visitors will continue to be screened upon arrival at any UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital location. U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is calling for the inclusion of the Restart Act to support live event venues that are struggling to recover after a summer of limited or no operations due to the COVID 19:

Governor Cuomo announced that Thursday was the 35th straight day that New York State's COVID-19 infection rate has been below 1 percent. There were 880 new cases diagnosed Thursday out of 89,722 tests, the number of positive tests since March is 442,791. The number of patients hospitalized for the virus was 474, with 120 in ICU beds & 54 on ventilators. There were 5 deaths Thursday, bringing the state Death Toll to 25,382.
Chenango County Public Health announced today that they are up to 242 COVID 19 cases since March, with 10 Active Cases, 1 hospitalization, 114 Quarantines 7 deaths, 210 recoveries & a total of 24,832 tests performed.
The Broome County Health Department announced Friday that they are reporting a total of 1293 COVID 19 cases since March. They now report 82 deaths, 1149 recoveries, 423 are being monitored by the Health Department, and they have conducted over 46,000 tests.
The Community Foundation for South Central New York has released the results of their most recent survey of the needs of local non-profits as they continue to respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In August, as a follow-up to an earlier survey done, the Foundation surveyed local organizations including non-profits, school districts, economic development agencies and others, 111 responded with ongoing concerns about lost revenue, cash flow, the mental health of employees and clients, and the expectation that their circumstances will likely be worse in 2021. Commerce Chenango hosted the very first ‘Sofa Soiree’ on Thursday evening, in a Zoom celebration of member businesses and individuals, who were chosen by their peers for accomplishments throughout this past year. Winners were announced in a variety of categories, Employer of the Year was NBT Bank, New Business award went to Hidden Springs Brewhouse, the Non-Profit award went to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, the good Neighbor award went to Shane Butler of the Chenango County Planning Department and Emerging Professional award went to Julia Miller of the Blueox Corporation.
State Police are reminding residents to keep valuables out of their vehicles and to keep their unattended vehicles locked. Troopers in the Oneonta area have recently responded to numerous complaints of vehicles that have been gone through and items have been taken. Police remind residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to 911.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar submitted his proposed county budget by Zoom Thursday. Broome County is facing hard economic times due to the economic shutdown following the COVID 19 pandemic earlier this year, a no -frills budget with a small tax decrease was forwarded by Garnar for consideration by the Broome County Legislature, all New York Counties are waiting to see if the next federal COVID relief package will finally contain aid to state & local governments.
The Board of Directors for the Village Bountiful have decided that they will open their new market in the Willow Bend Plaza at 1004 State Highway 7 in Unadilla later this month, Spokesperson Jakkie Bickos explains:

Otsego County Department of Health continues to investigate a large outbreak of Coronavirus involving SUNY Oneonta. Over the past 2 days 14 new cases have been reported. Currently, there are 829 total confirmed cases with 665 cases linked to SUNY Oneonta, there were 11 confirmed cases in Hartwick College, and 2 have since recovered. 268 active cases are currently residing in the county, and there are no hospitalizations.
Delaware County is reporting 2 new positive test results for COVID-19 and no additional recoveries today. The known active cases in the County as of today is 8, all are isolated at home. To date there have been 116 confirmed positive cases of COVID19 in Delaware County, with 69 people now under mandatory quarantine, 6 people have died and 102 have fully recovered.
The State Labor Department announced that payments for the Lost Wages Assistance program, which provides an additional $300 in weekly benefits to unemployed New Yorkers, will begin next week. Up to 2.4 million New Yorkers are eligible for the program, including 435,000 who must submit an additional certification to qualify, the Certification System Launches today, Payments Begin on a Rolling Basis Next Week.
The American Red Cross is hosting a "Never Forget 9/11" Blood Drive today at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. All Blood types are needed; the drive runs from 12:00 PM - 06:00 PM, Appointments can be made at redcrossblood.org.

The State Health Department issued an update on the Kawasaki Disease-like syndrome that has affected children with COVID 19 in the state that killed 3 young people earlier this year. The State Health Department has investigated 240 cases of the syndrome & published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine. 1 of the findings is that the hyper-inflammatory syndrome is associated with cardiac dysfunction& the majority of the patients in the study had no documented underlying conditions. The Research will be continuing.
The State Health Department announced that there were 534 new positive coronavirus tests statewide on Monday, bringing the total number up to 412,878. The number of death was up to 25,126 with 8 more deaths reported Monday attributed to the virus.
Governor Cuomo announced today that New York has added 3 more states to the travel advisory; Illinois, Kentucky and Minnesota. Governor Cuomo also added Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico to the advisory, along with 34 states. Anyone traveling to New York from the location mentioned in the advisory must quarantine for 14 days to monitor for coronavirus symptoms.
The State Division of Consumer Protection is reminding businesses and consumers about a State law related to telemarketing activity during a declared state of emergency. The law passed last year, makes it unlawful for any telemarketer to make an unsolicited sales call to any person under a declared state of emergency or disaster emergency, the law was amended earlier this year to include pandemics. Any consumer who has received an unsolicited telemarketing call is encouraged to report it at donotcall.gov or by calling 888-382-1222.

Brandon Clark appeared in Oneida County Court today & asked the judge to withdraw his guilty plea for the murder of 17-year-old Bianca Devins. Clark will be assigned a new attorney, he had pleaded guilty to killing Devins in Utica during the weekend of the Boilermaker race in 2019 & positing pictures of the deceased teenager on social media, which led to his arrest. Clark claimed in court that his previous attorney coerced him into pleading guilty earlier this year.
Johnson City Police have identified that person found dead in a pickup truck Friday as 27 year old Omar Terry of Johnson City. Terry was found in a wrecked vehicle near Exit 70 of State Route 17, he had both gunshot & stab wounds, 25 year old Brandon Rose of Endicott has been charged with the murder.
The Otsego County Planning & Solid Waste Department announces the cancellation of this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Day Collection Event. The event is anticipated to return in the fall of 2021. Individuals with questions can call the department at 547-4225.

57 year old Robert Bresee of Norwich has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for transporting and possessing child pornography, according to federal prosecutors & the FBI. Bresee was previously convicted in Chenango County Court of 1st degree Rape, and was sentenced to 15 years’ in prison; he admitted that while on post-release supervision he uploaded child pornography. Bresee was additional sentenced to another 15-year term of supervised release, & he is designated as a Level 3 Sexually Violent Offender, will be required to continue to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Starting today, renters across the state impacted by the pandemic can apply to a new COVID Rental Assistance Program, for tenants who lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. New Yorkers can access program applications at hcr.ny.gov/RRP starting; the Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance.
The Empire 8 Athletic Conference Presidents Council today announced the postponement of all fall athletic competition for the 2020 season due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a member of the Empire 8, Hartwick College affected teams include men’s football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s field hockey, women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball.

The Corona Virus Number continue to climb in New York State, but at a lower rate than in recent weeks, Governor Cuomo said that even with the large numbers unveiled every day, he doesn't feel that people are getting numb to this crisis:

The Governor said that the number of Hospitalizations has stayed about the same over the last 3 days, and the number of discharges of hospitals has been steadily increasing, suggesting that they may now be hitting the apex.
Governor Cuomo announced that system that has been set up to distribute Ventilators where they are needed is underway. The "Surge and Flex" hospital system led to the distribution of 802 ventilators downstate, 38 were deployed to Rockland County, 36 were deployed to Westchester County, 505 were deployed to New York City and 223 were deployed to Long Island.
Chenango County Public Health announced their latest Coronavirus Statistics today, they report 46 confirmed cases, with 80 Precautionary Quarantines, 292 Mandatory Quarantines, 7 Active Hospitalizations, 7 Recoveries, after administering 212 tests.
The Otsego County Department of Health announced that they now have 33 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, 4 are hospitalized, 9 have recovered & there has been 1 death. 113 people are in mandatory quarantine, 2 people on precautionary quarantine, 43 people have been released from quarantine.
The Sidney Central School District will continue to provide food service to the school community; however, there will be changes to the weekly schedule, Sidney Superintendent Eben Bullock explains:

Governor Cuomo gave the latest Coronavirus statistics this morning, there are now 102,863 positive cases, with over 14,800 hospitalized, 3,731 are on ventilators in ICU Beds, there are 2,935 deaths, but 8,886 have been discharged following recovery. Local residents who have similar items to donate can drop them off at the old Macy's building in the Oakdale Mall Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The State budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year is wrapped up, State Budget Director Robert Mujica said that the state will lose 10 billion dollars in revenue between now & July 15th, due to the virtual shutdown of the state, and the push back of filing state taxes until July 15th, all due to the Coronavirus. The budget shortfall is expected to be about 15 billion dollars in the new budget, the state does have some money in reserve to deal with it, the final budget will be revisited in the months ahead after the number of Coronavirus cases decreases to manageable levels & non-essential workers can go back to work & state tax revenues can be collected again.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating complaints of vandalism to an agricultural field in the Town of Hamden. A vehicle was identified as a result of surveillance camera images, Deputies arrested 18 year-old Austin Moxham of Delhi with driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to display a front license plate, unlawful possession of marihuana & criminal mischief. Moxham was issued appearance tickets for Town of Hamden Court on a later date.
The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will meet on April 9 at 10:30 AM to consider petitions for rehearing of the Siting Board’s December 2019 approval of Bluestone Wind, LLC’s application for Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to build and operate a 124-megawatt wind facility with 27 wind turbines in the Towns of Windsor and Sanford. The Siting Board determined that the facility met the statutory requirements for certification; the parties seeking rehearing are Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society, Broome County Concerned Residents and a resident of the Village of Johnson City. The meeting will be conducted by teleconference at dps.ny.gov/Webcasts.

graders, that need a device, will be receiving a Chromebook, also from 9:00 AM
to 12:00 Noon, in front of the Jr./Sr. High School.

sew protective fabric masks for health care staff responding to COVID-19. There

Aging announced that they are able to offer assistance to seniors who have been

since Sunday, bringing the total above 20,800.
Governor Cuomo will sign an executive order to mandate that hospitals
increase capacity by 50%, and he is still asking the federal Government to
invoke a wartime law to mandate that companies make needed healthcare items
like masks, scrubs & ventilators, to stop the bidding war between the
