State Troopers at Troop C in Sidney arrested 45-year-old Keith Hoefer of Unadilla for unlawful possession of marihuana. The arrest resulted from a vehicle and traffic law stop on State Route 7 in Unadilla, Hoefer was found to possess 14 grams of marihuana. He was issued a ticket returnable to the Town of Unadilla Court at a later date.
Sidney village police arrested 61 year old Robert Holt of Unadilla on a charge of petty larceny. Holt is accused of taking a misplaced envlelop with $1,000 cash belonging to someone else, in the lobby of the Sidney Federal Credit Union’s Main Branch. Holt faces court action in February.

State police arrested 31 year old Ian Ward of Unadilla for felony aggravated DWI and unlawful possession of marihuana.  The arrest occurred after Ward was observed asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle stopped in the middle of Interstate 88 in Oneonta.  Troopers Broke a window & placed the vehicle in park, Ward had a previous DWI conviction, making this arrest a felony, Ward was arraigned at the Oneonta town court and remanded to the Otsego county jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.

State police at Sidney arrested 31-year-old Howard Archer of Unadilla for unlawful possession of marihuana.  The arrest resulted from a vehicle stop on Pine Hill Road in Sidney.   Police searched Archer’s vehicle & confiscated 15 grams of marihuana and two smoking pipes with burnt marihuana residue, Archer was released on tickets returnable to the Sidney town court on December 12th.

State Police in Norwich report that a body of a deceased male was located submerged in the Unadilla River in the Town of Butternuts, about 2 miles south of South New Berlin. The discovery followed the search by State Police, New Berlin Police, State Forrest Rangers, Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies and Civilian volunteers, searching for 45 year old Daniel Reimers of New Berlin, who was last seen on November 7th. The investigation is continuing.

State police arrested Bradley Falkenmeyer of Bainbridge for 2nd degree burglary and 2 counts of criminal possession of a weapon.   The arrest followed an investigation of a theft of firearms on Kilkenny Road in Unadilla in August.   The stolen firearms were recovered; Falkenmeyer was arraigned at the Otsego town court and remanded to the Otsego jail on $10,000 cash bond.

State police report that 21 year old Maisie Grant of Norwich was killed, when she drove her car into a tree Monday night.   Grant was driving on River Road in Unadilla, when she failed to negotiate a corner & crashed into a tree.  Grant was pronounced her dead at the scene.

State police at Sidney arrested 52 year old Colleen Layton of Binghamton for aggravated unlicensed operation. The arrest resulted from a vehicle and traffic law stop on State Highway 7 in Unadilla, A check of her driving privileges in New York State showed she was suspended nine times.   Layton was arraigned in the Unadilla court and released on her own recognizance to return on October 21st.

Governor Cuomo aims to reduce distracted driving by unveiling special "Texting Zones" along the New York State Thruway and State Highways.  The new zones will give motorists a pull-off area to park and use their mobile devices, in many cases, Existing rest stops and parking areas will serve as Texting Zones, and signage will be placed along the highway to inform drivers where the Zones are located.  New Texting locally will be located on I-81 in Whitney Point, New York route 17 at East Branch & Roscoe, & I-88 at Unadilla & East Worcester

Otsego County held the annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day this past weekend in Unadilla & at the Meadows Complex in Cooperstown.  457 households took advantage of the program, with DEC officers supervising the collection of an estimated 300 pounds of unwanted pharmaceuticals to be incinerated.  Approximately 50 automotive batteries were collected by Interstate Battery, Suburban Energy Services collected 92 propane cylinders & Volunteers diverted 270 gallons of latex paint from the waste stream, to be re-mixed by Golden Artist Colors for re-distribution to not-for-profit agencies.
