The FBI arrested 59 year old Peter Bardunias of Clifton Park, for attempting to entice a minor to engage in prohibited sexual activity. The complaint alleges that over the past 2 weeks, Bardunias, who is a Senior Vice President with the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, sent messages to an individual he believed to be a 15 year-old girl during which he discussed violent and sadistic sexual activity, however the individual was an undercover law enforcement official. Bardunias traveled to meet the would-be minor and was taken into custody. A federal search warrant executed at Bardunias’ residence found sex toys, restraints and a knife, he was ordered held in by a Federal Court judge Tuesday pending a detention hearing set for this Friday.
24 year old Deanna Eignor of Hobart pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Possession of a Firearm, back on January 12th, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Buena Vista in Delhi for a suspicious person & drug complaint involving 2 vehicles. Eignor was observed getting out of a vehicle with a backpack that contained a firearm. Co-defendant Kenneth Dillmann, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in state prison, Eignor is expected to be sentenced to 1 year in jail for this conviction at a later date.
The Unadilla Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire in the town of Unadilla on State Route 7 near the State Police Barracks, around 12:00 AM earlier today, Unadilla Firefighters were able to make an aggressive push into the residence and contain the fire to the room of origin. Crews were back and in service by 4:45am, Unadilla was assisted by Sidney Fire Department & EMS, and the Wells Bridge, Franklin, Otego & Sidney Center Fire Departments.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand discussed the impact of rising health insurance premiums on New Yorkers across the state and to call on Republicans to extend the health insurance subsidies before the November 1st deadline,

A Chenango County Grand Jury handed up felony indictments recently, Shane Lum was indicted for criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of cocaine, following a June 1st arrest in New Berlin. Also, Sherri Campbell was indicted for failing to register an address change, within the 10 days required by law for sex offenders, both will appear in Chenango County Court in the near future.

Norwich Police arrested 27 year old Caleb Alexander of Columbus Ohio for Criminal Impersonation following an investigation into an adult who was using foul language and disrespecting staff at the Norwich YMCA. Alexander was using a number of incorrect identifications, detectives learned that Alexander later went to Norwich High School, where he allegedly used a false name, date of birth, and address in an attempt to enroll and gain access to the school. Detectives located Alexander a short time later, and he was taken into custody without incident. Alexander was wanted on a parole/probation warrant from Ohio for robbery and impersonating a police officer. Ohio authorities have confirmed that they intend to extradite Alexander to face those charges. Norwich Police stated that no children were harmed, and the suspect never made it beyond the high school office. Alexander is currently being held pending an extradition hearing in Chenango County Court.

State Police arrested 32 year old Joshua Shurtleff of Castle Creek for 2nd degree Assault & Criminal Contempt, after Troopers were dispatched to a report of an order of protection violation, they determined that Shurtleff was violating a full stay away order of protection, when Troopers attempted to place him under arrest, he resisted arrest and began fighting with Troopers. Shurtleff was ultimately placed in handcuffs, he was checked out at a local hospital then processed & was transported to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.

U.S. Senators Schumer and Gillibrand announced that over $21 Million dollars in federal funding has been allocated to upgrade airport facilities and equipment at 16 airports across the State. This federal funding was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, locally, the Greater Binghamton Airport will receive $181,174 to Reconstruct 51,000 square feet of existing terminal building and replaces the electrical system and associated lighting.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced Lactalis USA will invest more than $75 million to upgrade both its Walton and Buffalo facilities, enabling them to expand capacity and gain efficiencies. The projects in Delaware and Erie counties include the purchase of new equipment and upgrades that will allow the dairy manufacturer to retain more than 800 full time jobs and create more than 50 new jobs. The Walton plant produces Breakstone’s Sour Cream and Cottage Cheese. It will undergo a $15 million modernization, focusing on automating and expanding the cottage cheese and sour cream production lines, enhancing efficiency, capacity, and sustainability.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 33 year old Tyler Clark of Unadilla for Criminal Contempt, Harassment, Criminal Mischief & Trespassing following an investigation into a complaint in the Town of Unadilla. Clark is accused of entering the victim’s property, in violation of a valid order of protection, and intentionally caused damage to the Victim’s vehicle, he was subsequently arrested and held at the Otsego County Jail to await arraignment.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 42 year old August White of Broadalbin for Sex Offender Failure to Notify Change of Address, White was charged following an investigation where he relocated from a residence in the Town of Otego and did not make the proper notification to the Sex Offender Registry, an arrest warrant was applied for and granted through the Town of Middlefield Court. White was arrested by outside agencies on unrelated charges and remanded to several different correctional facilities. On June 10th, he was released from prison in to the supervision of New York State Parole Officers & was turned over to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office for Arraignment, he is expected to be held in Jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Brent Trimbell of Hobart, he is accused of engaging in forcible sexual contact with 1 of 2 victims, and that multiple offenses were perpetrated by Trimbell against the victims in the Towns of Sidney, Delhi, Kortright, and Andes, while serving as the victim’s softball coach. Trimbell was charged with 1st degree Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse and 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $300,000 bail or $600,000 secured bond. Sheriff DuMond urges any additional victims of sexual abuse by Brent Trimbell, or any person having information about other abused victims to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (607) 832-5633.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Saturday to a 1 car motor vehicle accident on River Road in the Town of Colchester. Deputies arrived on scene and observed that a vehicle had gone off the side of the road and struck a telephone pole. Deputies made contact with the driver, 19-year-old Nolan Barnhart of Downsville, he was arrested and charged with DWI, & driving with a BAC of 0.08% oor higher, moving from lane unsafely and speed not reasonable and prudent, Barnhart was released on appearance tickets, directing him to return to the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
Attorney General Letitia James’ Office of Special Investigations released its report on the death of a man who died following an encounter with the State Police in Otsego County. On December 22 in 2021, a trooper responded to a call reporting a suicidal individual at an apartment in Unadilla. When the trooper arrived, he saw Mark Beilby Jr. holding a knife to his chest in the kitchen. The trooper tried to persuade him to drop the knife, Beilby refused, threw kitchen knives at the trooper, and the trooper shot Beilby in response, he was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. After an investigation, which included footage from body-worn cameras, legal analysis and interviews, the investigations office concluded that a prosecutor would not be able to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt at trial that the trooper’s actions were justified under New York law, criminal charges will not be pursued against the officer.

Robb said that the project has been slowed down somewhat with all of the rain in the County since the start of the project.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office has responded to the scene of a car crashing into a tree in the Village of Milford at about 1:00 PM today on State Route 28. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office, Otsego County EMS and the Milford Fire Department were currently at the scene, initial reports suggest that the car left the roadway and struck a tree. Traffic may be delayed in that area for clean up & accident reconstruction work.
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in locating 39 year old Stephanie White, who is wanted on a probation violation. White is described as a white female, about 5'1" with brown hair & hazel eyes, anyone with information should call 607-832-5555 or go to "Submit A Tip" on the Sheriff's Office App.
The Afton Central School District closed at 11:30 this morning & all after school activities are canceled. The water in Afton was discolored or dirty, the Village of Afton Public Works Department told WCDO News that there was no water main break, but road crews using jack hammers adversely affected the quality of the water earlier today, it should clear up and there is NO order to boil water in effect.

37 year old Daniel Klenchik pleaded guilty to Tampering with a Witness in Broome County Court, he made a threatening video phone call to intimidate a victim involved in his pending criminal case, while he was incarcerated at the Broome County Jail, Klenchik will be sentenced to 2 to 4 years in New York State Prison on July 18.
State Police will be hosting a car seat check today, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Troop C Headquarters on State Route 7 between Sidney & Unadilla. State Police car seat technicians will check if the seat is installed properly or if there are any recalls with the current seat you have. Norwich City Police Department conducted a no-knock search warrant at 35 Pleasant Street as part of an investigation methamphetamine and fentanyl sales. 10 people were arrested on various drug & Criminal Nuisance charges. Arrested were 55 year old Todd Diamond, 66 Year old Charles Bates, 34 year old Todd Diamond, 52 year old Loreen Diamond, 27 year old Andrew Palmer, 24 year old Stephanie Donnelly, 58 year old Howard Grome, 37 year old Travis Foster, 42 year old Matthew Tiedemann & 29 year old Richard Garreau, all of Norwich. The arrests followed a months-long investigation into drug activity, investigators successfully conducted controlled purchases of the drugs, a search warrant executed Thursday which led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab inside the home. The State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was called in to collect hazardous materials, Norwich Fire and Codes Department condemned the property.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39 year old Richard Terrell of Afton following an investigation into the report of a stolen UTV from the Town of Harpursville. The investigation led Detectives to the Town of Afton, they were able to recover the stolen UTV from that location, the UTV sustained significant damage Terrell was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Terrell was taken into custody without incident and arraigned & was held without bail and is to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 53 year old Robert Smith of Sidney, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol, and Operating a Motor Vehicle against Interlock Restrictions, and several other violations following a Traffic Stop in the Town of Unadilla. Smith was found to have a revoked driver’s license in New York State, he was processed and released & will appear in court at a later date.

Former area Republican Congressman Marc Molinaro has been nominated to head up the Federal Transit Administration. The FTA supports various transit systems nationwide, Molinaro would report to the Secretary of Transportation. Molinaro sat on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure during his congressional tenure.
Governor Kathy Hochul launched a new “You’re Hired” initiative to recruit public sector workers into State service. The announcement comes as the federal government prepares to lay off thousands of federal workers. Fired Federal workers can go to ny.gov/wewantyou.
State Attorney General Letitia James announced she secured a $16.75 million lawsuit settlement from DoorDash. The settlement resulted from DoorDash misleading consumers and its delivery workers, by using the tips intended for them to subsidize the Door Dash employees guaranteed pay. Attorney General James said that DoorDash would pay employees $16.75 million in restitution and up to $1 million in administration costs.
The State Department of Health has approved $8 million in funding for constructing a new Chase Memorial Nursing Home and Rehabilitation facility adjacent to the existing site in New Berlin. State Police arrested 24 year old Paige Wallace of Guilford for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a crash on State Highway 23 in the town of Morris, they found a vehicle that went off the roadway and struck a guiderail. Wallace failed Field Sobriety Tests, She was additionally found in possession of illicit substances and metal knuckles. Wallace was issued appearance tickets to the Morris Town Court on March 10, 2025. State Police arrested 12 people for DWI or driving while ability impaired by drugs, in Troop C, during the week of February 17th to the 23rd.
State Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado announced that he would not seek re- election next year on the tickets with current Governor Kathy Hochul next year. Delgado said “all options are on the table”, making it possible that he may challenge Hochul for the Democratic Party Nomination for Governor. Hochul's office announced that they have begun taking steps to identify a new running mate for 2026. Delgado previously served in Congress, serving much of the WCDO listening area in the then 19th District.

Charges have been brought against individuals involved in the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks in December at Marcy Correctional Facility. On Thursday in Oneida County Court, it was announced that individuals involved with the incident have been charged with murder, manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Charged with manslaughter were Sgt. Michael Mashaw: plus Officers David Walters & Michael Fisher, charged with Murder: Officer David Kingsley, Matthew Galliher, Nicholas Anzalone, Anthony Farina & Christopher Walrath, also, Nicholas Gentile was charged with tampering with evidence.
20 year old Elijah O’Neill of Unadilla was sentenced to 6 months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility to be followed by five years of probation supervision. Last July 26, the Village of Sidney Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on River Street, Elijah O’Neill was the driver of one of the vehicles. Sgt. Dionne discovered a loaded 40 caliber Glock in the vehicle, O'Neill admitted that it was his pistol, and that he did not have a pistol permit, it was discovered that the firearm was stolen. O'Neill pleaded guilty in County Court in November & was sentenced this week.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 18 year old Kayla Gonsalves of Maryland New York with 14 counts of Grand Larceny, for allegedly using a debit card that she had no permission to use and attempted to make multiple transactions through Door Dash. Gonsalves was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
