Unadilla Fire Department responded Monday Night at about 10:45 PM to a reported structure fire in the area of Buckhorn Lake Road and State Highway 7. Responding Firefighters discovered a working fire on the 2nd floor rear of the residence. Unadilla crews along with Wells Bridge crews were able to gain entry and knock the fire down. No injuries were reported, other Fire Departments assisting included Franklin, Sidney Sidney Center & Otego, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
State Police arrested 24 year old Robert Henness of Otego Monday for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. An investigation revealed that on multiple occasions, Henness inappropriately touched a child who is less than 13-years-old. Henness was processed at SP Oneonta and then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment and Processing. He was remanded to the Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The State Health Department reports a steady increase has been continuing in COVID 19 cases, along with many cases of various flu strains. From the period of Saturday through Monday, there were over 48,000 New Yorkers tested for COVID with 4438 positive tests, for an 8% positivety rate. Patient Hospitalization have increased to just under 3800, there were 363 ICU Patients & 153 on Ventilators, there were 94 deaths reported in Hospitals & Nursing homes. The State Health Department urges New Yorkers to get vaccinated & boosted for COVID 19 & to find out about flu vaccine clinics, contact your local health department or visit vaccines.gov/find-vaccines/.
The State Department of Labor announced that the state unemployment rate remained at 4.3% in November. Locally, Chenango & Otsego Counties had 2.7% Unemployment, Delaware County was at 2.9% in November.
The Chenango Arts Council's 2022 Member's Show and Opening Reception was postponed last week due to inclement weather, the event has been moved to tonight starting at 5:30 PM at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call reporting a one car motor vehicle accident last Thursday in the Town of Delhi. 45 year old William Smith of Bloomville was found to be operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition, and had been involved in a property damage motor vehicle accident. Smith was charged with Driving While Intoxicated & moving from lane unsafely. He was then released on an appearance ticket for Town of Delhi Court at a later date.
The Inauguration of Governor Kathy Hochul will be held on Sunday, January 1st, at 2:00 PM at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. The Governor will be sworn in and will then deliver her inaugural address.

The Winter storm is ready to leave a significant amount of snowfall on the region today through early Saturday Morning, Local Meteorologist Rich Townsend told WCDO News what to expect:

The Governor's Office announced that the State DOT will be sending extra snowplows to the affected areas of this storm, WCDO will have the CDO Stormwatch this afternoon & again tomorrow with a list of school closings and postponements.
State Police arrested 19 year old Jeffrey Bullis of Unadilla, for Criminal Contempt, Stalking, and Criminal Trespass, after Troopers were dispatched to a report of a physical altercation at the House of Consignment on Main Street in Unadilla. State Police reported that Bullis violated an existing order of protection by entering the business, he is accused of grabbing and shoving a victim, causing the victim to strike a window and door frame, another person intervened & held Bullis down until troopers arrived. The victim went to Tri-Town Hospital for an evaluation of injuries that were sustained during the incident. Bullis was also evaluated at Tri-Town Hospital for a complaint of pain but was released and processed at Troop C, Bullis was issued appearance tickets to the Unadilla Town Court on January 23rd. The investigation is on-going, more charges are possible.
The State Department of Labor announced that the number of private sector jobs in the State increased by 19,600, or 0.2%, to 8,080,000 in November. The State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.3% in November.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced that items from the World Champions Houston Astros is being displayed currently. Artifacts donated by the Astros include a Jersey worn by World Series MVP Jeremy Peña, wristbands & toothpicks from Manager Dusty Baker, a Glove used by outfielder Chas McCormick, spikes from Pitchers Justin Verlander & Ryan Pressly, and a ball thrown by Cristian Javier from the Game 4 combined no-hitter and signed by all 4 Astros pitchers as well as catcher Christian Vázquez.
State Police responded to the report of “shots fired” in the town of Andes, the investigation revealed that a 62-year-old female was injured when she accidentally discharged a semi-automatic rifle, suffering face and hand injuries. The responding trooper applied a tourniquet to subside the heavy bleeding to the victim’s hand, another officer from the Colchester Police Department applied a 2nd tourniquet until EMS arrived and the victim was transported to Bassett Hospital for treatment. Troopers reported that the rifle is not legal in New York State and was not New York Safe Act compliant, 58 year old Richard Geraghty of Andes, was charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced he will be running for re-election in 2023. 4 years ago, Korchak lost the Republican primary, but won the election on the Libertarian ticket.
The annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, begins today & runs through January 1st. Law Enforcement Agencies across the state are participating, last year 2,077 tickets were issued for impaired driving during the annual initiative.
Unadilla Valley Central School District voters approved a $17.8 million capital project by a vote of 114 to 18. The renovations and improvements will be funded through state aid and an allocation from the district’s reserve funds. The project is expected to be budget neutral, with no anticipated impact on the tax levy.
Area United Way programs are seeing only about 60% of their stated goals for the 2022 year, with donations being accepted through December 31st, Elizabeth Monaco currently heads up the United Way in Chenango, Madison, Delaware & Otsego Counties:

Law Enforcement agencies are investigating a 1 vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Vestal at Clayton Avenue and Lagrange Street. The initial report suggests that the vehicle left the roadway & struck a fence, 18-year-old Kadin Abdullah of Vestal was a passenger in the vehicle & he was pronounced dead at the scene, the investigation is continuing.

26 year old Kout Akol of Binghamton was convicted for 1st degree manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence & endangering the welfare of a child, in Broome County Court Wednesday. Akol was arrested on July 3rd of 2021 for the stabbing death of 27 year old Takecia Mitchell in her Binghamton apartment. Akol faces up to 25 years in prison, he will be sentenced on February 23rd.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Wednesday the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services has reversed its eligibility criteria for Critical Access Hospital status. The program allows rural healthcare providers to receive federal reimbursements to help ensure they are able to service patients. The rule reversal is expected to go into effect January 1st.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 28 year old Darrick Reynolds of Unadilla following a traffic stop in the Town of Morris November 10th. Reynolds was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Uninsured, Uninspected & Unregistered Motor Vehicle & Improper Plates Reynolds was taken into custody and turned over to Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, he will appear in court at a later date.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 43 year old Duane Dye of Edmeston following a traffic stop in the Town of Edmeston. Dye was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Registration Suspended & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Dye was found to be operating a motor vehicle on a public highway with a suspended registration and suspended driver’s license, he will Appear in Edmeston Town court at a later date.

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli audited the State Department of Labor regarding their failure to replace its long-troubled Unemployment Insurance system, which contributed to billions of dollars in improper payments sent out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The audit recommended the Department recommended the replacement of the system, take steps to improve the verification process to stop fraudulent claims, Department officials generally agreed with the audit’s findings and recommendations.
The State DEC announced that November 15th will be recognized as New York Recycles Day.. The DEC is working with SUNY partners to increase the ability to recycle items like glass, paper, and plastics, and to increase education to the public on best practices for recycling, more information is available at dec.ny.gov.

Oneonta police announced that 50 year old Taver Brown of Oneonta died last Thursday morning in a bicycle accident in Huntington Park. Brown died from head & neck injuries in the bicycle crash, he was not wearing a helmet, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Attorney General Letitia James, as part of a coalition of 40 attorneys general, today secured $391.5 million from Google for misleading millions of users about its location data tracking. A multi-state investigation found that Google failed to notify users that location tracking services were automatically turned on for web and app activity. Millions of consumers with Google accounts who used Google's apps, such as Google Maps, Google Search, Google Chrome, and other Google apps, were unaware that their location was being tracked.

Over 300 members of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers local 1529 voted to approve a new 3 year Contract from Amphenol of Sidney this afternoon. Governor Kathy Hochul joined Acting Superintendent Steven Nigrelli in honoring 218 new New York State Troopers as they graduated today from the 211th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Today's graduation increases the State Police ranks to 4,742 sworn members. 29 of the new Troopers will report to Troop C in Sidney.
Delaware County Deputies were dispatched On April 29th to a report of a burglary at Herman’s Trailer Sales in the Town of Walton, followed by additional reports of larceny and burglary from the same location, The Investigation revealed that rare antiques and jewelry stolen from the Herman's property were sold for cash at a pawn Shop in Utica. Items were recovered from Utica, Sidney Walton, Unadilla & South New Berlin, Deputies arrested 39-year old Francis Lupo of Walton & 44-year-old Luke Lupo, of South New Berlin Petty Larceny, criminal mischief & Burglary Charges, and 33-year-old Mistyblue Decker of Hancock for criminal mischief and petty larceny. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 48 year old Wayne Brostek of Schenevus following a traffic stop in the Town of Milford on October 5th. Brostek was charged with Operate out of interlock restriction, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Operating Without Insurance among several other similar charges, Brostek was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Milford Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's office arrested 23 year old Anna Genao of Franklin for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator charges as well as other violations following an investigation of a motor vehicle accident involving property damage and personal injury in Davenport on October 13th. Genao & other occupants were transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, after an investigation, Deputies arrested Genao, she was processed and released, & will appear in Town of Davenport Court at a later date.
The Board of Directors of Commerce Chenango announced the selection of Sal Testani as the organization’s new president and chief executive officer. Testani is a Norwich native , he has more than 16 years of experience as a senior leader with both MeadWestvaco and ACCO Brands in Sidney, & he will assume his new role on November 1. State Attorney General Letitia James released a report on the role of online platforms like 4chan & Twitch in the Buffalo mass shooting at a Tops grocery store where 10 Black individuals were killed and 3 others were injured. James' Office reviewed thousands of pages of documents and social media content to examine how the alleged shooter Payton Gendron of Conklin used online platforms to plan, prepare, and publicize his attack. The report also said that the platforms lacked of oversight, transparency, and accountability in allowing hateful and extremist views to proliferate, leading to radicalization and violence. Gendron faces numerous state & federal charges in connection with the shooting, and could face the death penalty if convicted on the federal charges.

Otsego County Department of Health & the CDC recommends that everyone who is not fully vaccinated to contact their Health Care Provder & complete the polio vaccination series as soon as possible, especially children. In Otsego County, only 80.4% of 2 year olds are recorded as having the recommended doses of polio vaccine, locally, Delaware County has a vaccination rate of 89.4%, and Schoharie County 88.8%. So far, 8 polio cases are being investigated in Rockland, Sullivan and Orange Counties.
The 7th Annual Binghamton Porchfest returns this Sunday, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM. Porchfest invites thousands of community members each summer for a free afternoon of live music performed from the residential porches, stoops, this year 165 local and regional bands and 59 host locations will participate. Food vendors and restroom locations will be set up and a free shuttle service is available throughout Binghamton's West End neighborhood.
The State Office of Cannabis Management announced that the State has begun accepting applications for the first adult-use cannabis retail dispensary licenses. The 1st legal retail dispensaries will be operated by those most impacted by the enforcement of the prohibition of cannabis, and those first sales will be made with products grown by New York farmers. New York’s recreational cannabis market is expected to reach $4.2 billion by 2027 and to create up to 60,000 jobs.

State Police are investigating the discovery of unidentified human remains, located in a remote area in the town of Morris. The remains are those of an adult female, approximately 4’9”- 4’11” in height, she was wearing Adidas jogging pants, a pink tank top, a black jacket with a pink zipper, and Carolina boots. A silver adjustable ring with a heart and a gold chain necklace were also located. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the New York State Police at 607-561-7400.
Governor Hochul announced that New Yorkers struggling with their electric and gas bills can get assistance from a $567 million assistance program, the majority of the money will help more than 327,000 low-income gas and electric customers pay their August bills. Funding came from the statewide COVID-19 bill credit program adopted by the State Public Service Commission & customers can expect to see the credit on their next billing cycle, beginning this month. The program will eliminate unpaid utility bills for eligible low-income customers who enroll in the Energy Affordability Program by December 31st of this year.
New York State has taken away prisoners' ability to receive packages sent directly from their family members, in a pilot program going on at select prisons around the state. The Department of Corrections implemented the pilot program in July, in an effort to prevent prisoners from receiving contraband, no timetable has been announced for a system wide implementation of the program.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office audited the Unadilla Valley School District, the audit found that Officials did not establish Non-Residential Tuition rates for special education students as required, & the District’s rates exceeded the State Education Department’s maximum allowable rate during 4 of the past 5 school years. The District overcharged 7 school districts by a total of $183,250. District officials agreed with the recommendations to have the rates in line with state regulations & they planned to initiate corrective action.

The Vestal Police Department released more details about Monday night's fatal head on accident on the Vestal Parkway, near Binghamton University. Police reported that a 2019 Chevy SUV driven by 21-year-old Stephan Moran of Binghamton crashed head-on into a 2016 Nissan, occupied by Alfred and Paula Latissa of Johnson City. Alfred Latissa was pronounced dead at the scene, Paula Latissa was taken to an area hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Moran was taken to Wilson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. So far, no tickets have been issued

Terry DeCutler of Sidney and Nicholas DeCutler of Unadilla, will be facing Grand jury Action in Otsego County Court shortly, both were charged with 2nd-degree murder for the May 30th fatal stabbing of 24 year old Kaleb O’Neill in an alleyway near 6 Dietz Street in Oneonta. The DeCutler brothers are being held pending Grand Jury Action, the investigation is ongoing.

Law Enforcement agencies are warning Motorcyclists to watch out for deer on state roads, following an uptick in that type of accident. The Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits are set to expire in the coming months, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is urging her colleagues to extend this coverage and save millions of Americans from losing their health care coverage:

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office recently conducted an audit of the Franklin Central School. The Key Findings were that District officials did not adequately manage network user accounts, periodically compare installed software to an authorized software inventory or develop an IT contingency plan. In addition to finding sensitive information technology control weaknesses, the audit found that 9 of the District’s network user accounts were not needed. District officials generally agreed with the Audit's recommendations and have initiated or indicated they planned to initiate corrective action.
Governor Kathy Hochul signed Alyssa's Law, requiring schools to consider the use of silent panic alarm systems when conducting review and development of their school safety plans. The bill is named after one of the victims of the 2019 mass shooting at the Marjorie Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Florida. The panic alarm systems cost just a few thousand dollars to purchase, and can be implemented in the classroom as a smartphone app.

State Police issued 15 tickets in Deposit Tuesday during an "Operation Hard Hat" detail. Troopers monitored traffic on the Interstate through Deposit while road crews made bridge repairs. During the detail, a trooper blends in with the workers and watches for risky and unsafe behavior. 15 tickets were issued, 11 of them were for Speeding.
The State Department of Labor released preliminary local area unemployment rates for May, the unemployment rate decreased to 4.4% in May, locally Chenango County had 2.8% unemployment, Otsego County 2.7% and Delaware County 3.1%.

New York celebrated Juneteenth today, when the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act was signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul. The law will make it easier to sue over discriminatory voting policies and require areas with a history of civil right violations to get approval before changing election rules.
The Associated Press reported today that New York’s new law barring sales of bullet-resistant vests to most civilians doesn’t cover the type of armor worn by Payton Gendron of Conklin, when he killed 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket, May 14th. Gendron wore a steel-plated vest, which stopped a bullet fired at him by a security guard in the supermarket. New York’s law restricts sales of soft bullet-resistant vests to people who work in law enforcement and the military, plus people in certain other professions that require protective gear, that list has not been finalized.

Oneonta Police arrested 31-year-old Terry DeCutler of Sidney and 34-year-old Nicholas DeCutler of Unadilla,, for 2nd degree murder, for the May 30th murder of Kaleb O'Neill in the alley near 6 Dietz Street. They were arraigned in City of Oneonta Court and were remanded to the custody of the Otsego County Sheriff pending court action on Wednesday. State Troopers were dispatched Friday to a report of a drowning at Highland Park in the town of Union. When troopers arrived, a 12-year-old boy had already been pulled out of the pool by lifeguards and CPR was being performed. The 12-year-old was not breathing and had no pulse. Troopers, EMT & members if the Endwell Fire Department eventually had the 12-year-old breathing and did have a pulse when he was transported to Wilson Hospital, & he was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital where he is still listed in critical condition.
Governor Hochul announced that $567 million is now available to help low-income electric and gas utility customers pay off past utility bills. This one-time, low-income utility bill credit will be applied to affected customers' bills by the utilities, & requires no action by customers enrolled in the EAP program, The credit is expected to be applied to customers' accounts by Aug. 1st. .

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection announced today that they are not in a position to shutdown the Delaware Aqueduct this fall as originally planned. State Police updated information on Wednesday's head-on collision involving an SUV and a Trailways bus on State Highway 23 in the town of Davenport. The only occupant of the SUV, was 65-year-old Diane Bevins of Stamford, she was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the bus, 44-year-old Joanna Reedman of Astoria, and a passenger, 59-year-old Aris Vavasis of Hartwick were transported to Bassett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, 3 other passengers were not injured, the investigation is on-going.
New York’s legislature passed legislation banning anyone under age 21 from buying or possessing a semi-automatic rifle. New York already requires people to be 21 to possess a handgun. Younger people would still be allowed to have other types of rifles and shotguns. The bill would also require anyone buying a semiautomatic rifle to get a license, the legislation heads to Governor Hochul's desk for approval.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she is appointing local Congressman Antonio Delgado as Lieutenant Governor of New York. Historic federal aid and better-than-expected revenues allowed for a steep increase in spending in the $220.5 billion enacted state budget, according to an analysis by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. DiNapoli expressed concerns about the growth in capital spending and debt. Transportation Security Administration officers at Hancock Airport in Syracuse stopped an unidentified Chenango County man from Sherburne with a loaded handgun at the Airport security checkpoint Monday morning. The a 9mm caliber handgun was loaded with 6 bullets, A TSA officer spotted it on the X-ray machine as the man’s belongings were being screened, Syracuse Police responded and confiscated the weapon. The man told officials that he had placed the gun in his bag when he went hiking and forgot that he had his loaded gun with him, he was not charged.

New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for April. All households participating in SNAP—including those already at the maximum level of benefits —will receive a supplemental allotment this month, for more information, go to otda.ny.gov.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced the results of school district audits. Locally, the DCMO BOCES audit showed that officials did not properly monitor and account for fixed assets. 32 of the assets valued at $64,300 were not properly accounted for, and others worth $47,500 did not have required asset tags, were not on the inventory lists and/or had incorrect or no location noted on the inventory list.

NYSEG reported that over 8800 customers were still without power this morning in the Tr-County Region, crews continue to work to restore the power as soon as possible.
2 people were injured & 3 dogs died in a house fire last night on Earls Road in Hartwick. The fire before 6:00 PM, 3 people lived in the home, 2 were sent to Bassett Hospital with smoke inhalation and 1 had minor burns. Firefighters from Hartwick, Fly Creek, Milford, Mt. Vision and Cooperstown responded, the cause is under investigation.
The American Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage due to the cancellation of blood drives and has issued an emergency request for all blood types. A Blood Drive is scheduled today at the A.O. Fox Tri-Town Campus in Sidney between 1:30 PM and 6:30PM in Conference Room N-112. Appointments may be made at redcrossblood.org, bassett.org or by calling 1-800-RedCross.
Sidney Police Department arrested 29 year old Edward Petti of Oneonta on a bench warrant issued by the Village of Sidney Court, for failing to appear in court. When officers attempted to make contact with Petti, he fled on a bicycle, leading officers on a pursuit. Petti was charged on the Bench warrant plus Obstruction of governmental administration & Resisting arrest, he was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court where he was released on his own recognizance to appear back in court at a later date.
A panel of appellate judges ruled that state Democrats engaged in gerrymandering when drawing new congressional district boundaries for the next decade. In a 3-2 ruling, the majority found the congressional map was unconstitutional. If upheld, the ruling would block the use of those district lines for the upcoming midterm elections in November. The court found Democratic lawmakers acted within their power to approve the maps, after a bipartisan redistricting commission failed to do so earlier this year.

Beckwith said that The Norwich YMCA is operating a shelter, The Smyrna & Coventry Fire Departments are operating as "Warming Stations", The Norwich High School will be a warming shelter with showers available, Otselic Valley Central school will have overnight shelter, showers & food available, The Sherburne Earlville School has food available for pick up only, The Unadilla Valley School will be open until 7:00 PM for shelter, And NYSEG is making dry ice available at the Fire Departments in Afton, Bainbridge, Greene, Guilford, Norwich & Smyrna.
NYSEG reported that nearly 100,000 customers were without power, one of the largest power outages ever in the Southern Tier, it may take another day or 2 to fully restore power.
The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services announced that they have lifted the State of Emergency Declaration, they report that all roads are open, but they urge that motorists drive with extra caution. All Otsego County offices were open today, Emergency Shelters have been set up at the Oneonta Armory, Clark's Sports Center in Cooperstown, Affected Students at SUNY Oneonta are being sheltered in the Alumni Field House. The Schenevus Fire House has Dry Ice & Bottled Water, Otsego County is working to distribute those items at other locations as it becomes available.
The Susquehanna SPCA is assisting pet owners without power & heat through its Emergency Boarding Program. NYSEG crews continued to work through the night, but thousands are still without power, NYSEG representatives announced that it could take another 24 to 48 hours to fully restore power. The American Red Cross opened 2 overnight shelters last night, for those without power & heat. 1 location was the Deposit Fire Department on 2nd Street, another was at the Trinity Church at 118 Oak Street in Binghamton.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 29 year old Nicole Robinson of Davenport, on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Town of Jefferson Court for Aggravated Harassment and Menacing. State Police learned Saturday that Robinson was staying in a residence in the Town of Davenport, Deputies located and arrested Robinson, she was turned over to State Police, to be arraigned on the arrest warrant, as well as additional charges resulting from the investigation.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 66 year old Clayton Monroe of Hartwick for multiple burglaries in Otsego County. Monroe was charged with 2 counts of Burglary, plus Grand Larceny, Criminal Mischief, 2nd & 3rd degree Assault, Possession of Burglar Tools, after Deputies were dispatched to a burglar alarm activation Sunday, they observed Monroe leaving in a vehicle at a nearby parking lot without lights on, a traffic stop was conducted, and Monroe was arrested. Monroe failed to comply with booking procedures and a corrections officer sustained an injury that required medical attention. Monroe was remanded to the Otsego County Jail, the investigation is on-going and additional charges are expected.
Delaware County Deputies observed an SUV traveling at 83 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on State Highway 17 in the Town of Colchester. Deputies arrested 36-year-old Christina Daggett of Central Square, her Driver’s License had been previously revoked for operating without insurance. Daggett was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operator, Speeding & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, she was released on an Appearance Ticket, returnable to the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in the Village of Walton on March 26th, 25-year-old Jonathan Stein had left prior to patrols arrival, he is accused of damaging property of the female victim. On March 30th, 2022 Deputies were contacted by Walton Police that they had Stein under arrest on unrelated charges. Deputies took custody of Stein, he was charged with 6 counts of Criminal Mischief, he was processed and released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Village of Walton Court at a later date.
Volunteer fire departments across New York will open their doors on Saturday, April 23rd, and Sunday, April 24th as part of the 13th annual RecruitNY weekend.  The Unadilla Fire Department will participate on both days as they need to add to their ranks, according to Spokesman Jeremy Johnson:

Sidney Police investigated the theft of tools and construction equipment from a local business last month. Surveillance cameras helped police in identifying the person responsible, & an arrest warrant was issued for 37 year old Peter Puglisi of Afton. On Monday, Sidney Police located Puglisi, he was taken into custody and charged with Petty Larceny, he was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court & he was released to appear back in court at a later date.
The Otsego County Department of Health will be offering an Additional Booster Dose Vaccination Clinic at the Otsego Meadows Complex on April 18th. A Registration link can be found on the Otsego County Department of Health webpage. Those eligible include anyone age 12 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised, they may choose to receive a second booster dose at least 4 months after the first booster dose, also all adults 50 and older regardless of health status may choose to receive a 2nd booster dose, also 4 months after the first booster dose. Several Area Fire Departments responded to a house fire on County Route 35 in the Hamlet of Sidney Center this afternoon. The house was completely destroyed, WCDO will have more information as it becomes available.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies, were dispatched Sunday to a Domestic dispute in the Town of Delhi. 28-year-old Michael Stein of Delhi allegedly engaged another person in a physical domestic dispute, and unlawfully imprisoned the victim in his residence. Deputies charged Stein with Unlawful Imprisonment, Menacing, and Reckless Endangerment, he was released on appearance tickets for Town of Delhi Court on a later date.

State Police arrested 60 year old Michael McBride of Oneonta for 2nd degree assault, tampering with physical evidence & criminal possession of a controlled substance, following an investigation into a February 24th domestic dispute. McBride is accused using a box cutter on a victim, he left the scene & was apprehended by troopers on State Route 7. McBride was arraigned & remanded to the Otsego County Jail pending court action..
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office announced Modified visitation procedures for inmate visitation beginning on Saturday, March 12th. Visitors are encouraged to make an appointment for visitation by calling 607-337-1967, Monday through Friday during normal lobby hours. Visitation will be on Saturdays and Sundays ONLY, 2 visitors will be allowed per inmate, for 1 hour. All visitors and inmates will be required to wear a face mask in the facility.
The Town of Sidney will hold an After Hours Open House on Friday March 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Town Of Sidney Office Building at 44 Grand Street. Refreshments & tours of the facility will be offered.
Freshman New York City Mayor Eric Adams is looking to see if the controversial Bail Reform bill passed 2 years ago can be reversed or altered, and give the option of bail back to the judges to decide, Local Assemblyman Joe Angelino agrees with that idea:

New York state is the only state that has a bail reform law that dictates that people accused of misdemeanors & certain felonies can not be remanded to jail before their next court date, Angelino said that there have been many cases where accused criminals are released, and immediately commit another crime.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 27 year old Austin Demuth of New Berlin Saturday following an investigation into a 2-car collision on Lyon Brook Rd in the Town of Oxford. Demuth was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & other traffic infractions, he had 2 active Arrest Warrants issued by Norwich City Court and he was taken into custody for the warrants. Demuth faces court action in Norwich City Court & Oxford Court at later dates.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 53-year-old Tina Kerschner of Sidney Monday on an Arrest Warrant for Violation of Probation. Deputies were contacted by the Village of Sidney Police Department that they had Kerschner in custody on unrelated charges. Kerschner was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility, where she will be held pending further order of the Delaware County Court.
A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held today FOXCARE in Oneonta from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM,. The Unadilla Valley School District will also host a blood drive today from 9:00AM to 1:00 PM, to make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS.
New York’s Republican Party leaders nominated Congressman Lee Zeldin as their candidate for governor Tuesday at a convention on Long Island. Zeldin will still face a primary challenge in June, as 4 other candidates are also pushing to be the Republican Gubernatorial nominee.
