Governor Cuomo held his daily Coronavirus briefing at the new LaGuardia Airport in Queens today, he was asked about the possibility of schools reopening in the fall:

Several regions in the state moved into Phase 2 of the Reopening this week, & the expectation is that the Southern Tier Region & other upstate regions could enter into Phase 3 by the end of the week or into the weekend. The State Health Department announced that they are reporting over 380,000 cases of the Coronavirus since early March, the rate of people testing positive is slightly over 1% state wide. The death toll is up to 24,404.
Chenango County Public Health announced a 6th death from the Coronavirus today. They report a total of 135 cases, 2 patients are hospitalized, 69 are quarantined, 124 have recovered, and about 6400 tests have been conducted.
The Unadilla Flag Day Parade has been rescheduled, on Sunday June 14th at 6:30 PM. The parade has been changed into a Drive-By Parade, and the public is welcome to attend, & they must abide by Social Distancing Guidelines & wear a face mask. The procession will start at the Unadilla Elementary School & will continue to the I-88 Interchange with State Route 7, there will be no Flag Day Ceremony at the Community Field this year.
New York State Supreme Court Justice Michael Coccoma of Cooperstown will retire at the end of the month, after a lengthy career on the bench. Coccoma served as the Otsego County District Attorney, Otsego County Court judge, before becoming a State Supreme Court judge, spending 10 years as the Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for courts outside of New York City.
Organizers for the annual Oneonta Hometown 4th of July Festival has been cancelled; organizers expect that it will be able to resume in 2021.
State Senator Fred Akshar will be taking his Town Hall Meetings online to talk with local leaders and constituents in the 52nd Senate District. The Virtual Town Hall will be held today at 6:00 PM; Residents who would like to participate are asked to register at Akshar.NYSenate.Gov.

The State Police will target speeding and aggressive drivers during a special weeklong traffic enforcement initiative, starting Thursday through Wednesday, June 17th. Troopers will also actively patrol highway work zones and will target drivers who violate New York’s "Move Over" Law.
Delaware County is reporting 1 new case of COVID-19 and no additional recoveries. To date there have been 79 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, with 17 quarantined, 2 are isolated in the hospital, 7 are isolated at home, 5 people have died and 65 have fully recovered.

The Bainbridge Development Corporation is helping to develop a new master plan for the town of Bainbridge, Corporation President Dave DeClue explains:

DeClue said that the last master plan developed by the town of Bainbridge was done with the assistance of SUNY Oneonta in 2002 & 2003.
The city of Oneonta announced their first meetings for 2017. City hall will be closed on Monday January 2nd, it will open on Tuesday for the Common council meeting at 7:00 PM, on the agenda for that meeting, the council has designated many items as surplus & up for sale, and the complete list is available at publicsurplus.com. The Oneonta Board of public Service will hold their first meeting on January 5th at 4:00 PM.
Congressman Chris Gibson will leave Congress after 3 terms in Washington, representing the 19th district. Gibson accepted a job offer from Williams College, in Massachusetts. He will begin in February as a visiting lecturer on leadership, & he will continue to live in Kinderhook New York. Gibson may also write another book, and pursue other possible academic positions; Republican John Faso will replace him in the 19th Congressional District.
Congressman Richard Hanna of the 22nd district in New York State will leave Congress after serving 3 terms in the House of Representatives. Hanna has decided to retire at the age of 64 from Public service, he also owned a successful construction company in Barneveld prior to running for Congress, he said that he wishes to spend more time with his family, which includes 2 elementary school aged children. Hanna will be replaced by Claudia Tenney.

State Police will also be out in full force across the state for New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day this year. Troopers will be looking for speeders, aggressive drivers, drivers using hand held devices, and drunk or impaired drivers.
Governor Cuomo announced that between December 21st to 23, Members of the administration participated in volunteer events held at 18 organizations statewide to distribute 4,065 toys, coats and school supplies to communities in need. Donations, provided by businesses and individuals, were brought to drop-off locations across the state and collected by organizations at holiday gatherings ahead of the distribution events.
State Commissioner of Health Dr. Howard Zucker reminded all New Yorkers to test their homes for radon, an invisible, odorless and tasteless gas that can ultimately be fatal. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.; Test kits are available through the State Department of Health's for $11 at www.health.ny.gov. Tests of residential basements in New York State found elevated radon levels in about 37% of the homes.

Governor Cuomo signed legislation designed to improve the ability of workers and the Department of Labor to tackle wage theft in New York State. The legislation improves on the 2010 Wage Theft Prevention Act, it contains additional improvements in retaliation protections for vulnerable workers, transparency provisions to help advocates and workers identify cases of wage theft, and it also streamlines reporting provisions to lessen burdens on law-abiding employers.
State Senator Jim Seward & Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin will be sworn in for another term each at their respective positions, tomorrow at the Otsego County Courthouse in Cooperstown. Seward will be sworn into office for his 15th 2-year senate term. Otsego County Representative Rick Hulse Jr. will serve as master of ceremonies. Supreme Court Justice Michael Coccoma and Otsego County Judge Brian Burns will administer the oath of office; the ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. at the County Courthouse at 197 Main Street Cooperstown.
The Governor’s 2015 State of the State Address will be held at the Convention Center in Albany’s Empire State Plaza on January 7th at 1:30 PM. New Yorkers wishing to attend should visit governor.ny.gov to register, from today until Monday, January 5th at 12:00 PM. Seating is limited and tickets are non-transferable. In the event that the number of requests exceeds available seating, attendees will be selected by lottery. Guests will be notified of their selection via email by January 5th.
State DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala of Binghamton is retiring. Fiala served as the Broome County Executive before taking over the DMV in 2011 when she was appointed by Governor Cuomo. A successor for Fiala has not yet been announced.
The Broome County Legislature has passed a law that increases their pay. The new law would tie increases in pay for non-union county employees to the raises negotiated for union workers. The bill passed by a 9-4 vote Monday night. It still faces a public hearing and the signature of County Executive Debbie Preston before becoming law.

One of the projects is the Colliersville Boat Launch in the Town of Milford, where $17,160 was used for a canoe/kayak slide and stairs to access the Susquehanna River. An Otsego county couple will be featured on ABC TV news’s 20/20 Friday night. Paul Sohacki & Katherine Gannon lived on 12 acres near Cooperstown, they were arrested after making complaints to the county District Attorney’s office about their neighbor Gene Ellis, whose driveway to access his land crosses slightly onto the couples land. The couple recorded videos of Ellis using the driveway in question, the investigation & complaints by a 3rd party led to Sohacki & Gannon facing charges of stalking Ellis. The segment will run on ABC television Friday night starting at 10:00 pm.

Governor Cuomo will deliver 2 inaugural addresses Thursday, as he begins his second term in office. Cuomo will speak at noon at 1 World Trade Center in New York City, and then at about 4:30 PM, he is scheduled to deliver a second inaugural address at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society. Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor-elect Kathy Hochul will be officially sworn in on New Year’s Eve at the Governor’s Mansion in Albany.
A Chenango county man has been arrested for allegedly driving while impaired by drugs and getting a vehicle stuck in mud in a person's yard Sunday. Cortland County Sheriff's Department arrested 50-year-old Timothy Green of McDonough on charges of driving while impaired by drugs, driving an uninspected, uninsured vehicle with improper license plates, & driving without a license. Green was taken to Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond pending court action

All occupants escaped without injury, the fire destroyed Cole's Truck Parts and Don’s Diesel, where investigators believe the fire started. 11 area fire companies assisted Davenport Firefighters
An Otsego county jury found 2 Kingston men guilty of 1st degree attempted robbery and 4th -degree conspiracy last week. Jury deliberation lasted only 75 minutes, before issuing guilty verdicts on 24 year old Anthony Placido & 25 year old Victor Deleon, both were arrested for trying to rob 2 people at gunpoint in Oneonta on November 14th 2013. Both face sentencing on February 20th
