THE SIDNEY FOOTBALL TEAM WILL PLAY HARPURSVILLE-AFTON ON SATURDAY IN THE SECTION-4, CLASS-D SEMIFINALS, FOLLOWING A HEARING TODAY APPROVING THE ELIGIBILITY STATUS OF ONE OF HARPURSVILLE AFTON PLAYERS.   WCDO SPORTS WILL HAVE THE HARPURSVILLE AFTON -SIDNEY FOOTBALL GAME FROM TY COBB STADIUM AT UNION ENDICOTT AT 3:00 PM SATURDAY.


Governor Cuomo today announced that 39 businesses have joined START-UP NY and will expand in or locate to New York State through the tax-free program associated with colleges and universities across the state. The 39 have committed to create 817 new jobs and invest more than $30 million over the next 5 years. Locally at Binghamton University, 140 new jobs will be created through i3 Assemblies; a new manufacturing company that offers that produces electronic components medical diagnostic/imaging devices, cutting-edge space exploration and satellite technology; The Company will invest $8.2 million.
The Broome County District Attorney's Office arrested 54 year old Ned Woodruff of Windsor for making a terroristic threat, for allegedly threatening a Broome County Judge Joseph Cawley. Woodruff is accused of threatening to kill Judge Cawley, unless the Judge ruled favorably in a criminal matter, as Woodruff was charged with harassment last year after his home was burglarized and $280,000 was reportedly stolen from his home. Woodruff was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner will be held Saturday night at the Sundown Golf Course in Guilford. This year's Citizen of the Year is John Payne, and the business of the year if Nana's Keepsakes. Local Assemblyman Cliff Crouch will be the guest Speaker.
There are only a few more days to notify the "Operation Merry Christmas" staff about specific gifts for underprivileged children in our area. Coordinator Ginny Ireland said that the tags on the Christmas Trees would be in area stores shortly:

Magic City Music Hall announced today that Saturday evening’s concert with Rusted Root would be the venue’s final show. Over the past year the Music Hall has produced more than 2 dozen major concerts, including by REO Speedwagon, Kansas, and Third Eye Blind, among others. Ticket refunds for shows with Chase Rice and Josh Turner remain available at the place of purchase, including the Magic City Music Hall Box Office, as are refunds for any other previously postponed or cancelled concerts. The Music Hall Box Office will be open for refunds through 6:00 PM on Monday, after that, refunds may be obtained by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Magic City, P.O. Box 462, Endicott.

The Norwich Pumpkin Festival is preparing to celebrate their 18th year of FREE family fun and entertainment today & tomorrow. Activities are scheduled in East and West Parks in downtown Norwich with live music, street performers, contests, food & craft vendors and fireworks. A Chinese Auction will be held to benefit local efforts to bring service dogs to veterans in need of help. A Unadilla area couple that has a service dog is looking to raise money to assist other vets; Joshua Palmer currently has a service dog “Hampton” his wife Kristina Palmer told WCDO News about their plans:

The Chinese Auction drawing will begin at 4:00 PM behind the Unadilla library tomorrow.
The results of the Otsego County Conservation Association's "What's In Our Water?" program are in and, the overall quality of Otsego County's drinking water is very good, with a strong baseline of the water chemistry by which future contamination can be detected. The full will be unveiled and made available to the public at the Otsego Lakes Festival tomorrow at Lakefront Park in Cooperstown.

State Police have charged 22-year-old Ryan Webster of Morris with DWI, after a crash late Wednesday night on state route 20 in Edmeston. Webster was airlifted by LifeNet to Albany Medical Center with fractures and internal injuries, after his motorcycle went off the roadway, hit a fence and a tree, he was also ejected.
About 400 teams and thousands of spectators are expected to hit the streets of Downtown Norwich this weekend for the 20th annual Gus Macker 3 on 3-basketball tournament. The annual event is organized through the Norwich YMCA; full details are available at macker.com/local/norwich-ny.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 Town of Norwich residents for Neglect of an Impounded Animal. Charged were 53-year-old Keith Robinson and 64 year old Mary Randall, they are accused of keeping 4 dogs in crates for extreme lengths of time without cleaning the crates or having proper ventilation. Both will appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.
The city of Oneonta Department of Public Service will be flushing hydrants starting Monday. The flushing will occur over a 3 to 4 day period, including the neighborhoods around West Street in the vicinity of both the State University & Hartwick College. Residents may experience low water pressure of discolored water temporarily; more information is available at 432-2100

The Otsego county sheriff’s department arrested 52 year old Timothy Gregory of Unadilla on 2 counts of 3rd degree criminal sale of marijuana & criminal possession of marijuana, also charged were 54 year old Deborah Gregory of Unadilla, 53 year old Tracy Nichols of Unadilla & 22 year old Alexander Zienkker of Otego for criminal possession of marijuana.  The arrests follow an investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office, DEA special agents, Oneonta Police Department, and SUNY Oneonta police.  Police seized 2 ½ pounds of processed marijuana valued at $7,500, a digital scale and $520 in cash. All 4  face court action shortly.


The Otsego County Planning Department, the Otsego County Conservation Association, Opportunities for Otsego, and Sustainable Otsego, have teamed up to bring for a series of workshops on how homeowners, small businesses, and non-profits can get a thorough energy assessment of their home or office—at no cost to the homeowner or business owner.  The workshop series will kick off tomorrow in the Butternut Valley Room at SUCO’s Hunt Union, from 10 am until 1 pm, more information or applications for a free energy assessment can be accessed at 723-0110
