The City of Oneonta announced that a contractor working for Firstlight Fiber will be installing new underground fiber cable on Ford Avenue between the intersection of Main St. and the Community Bank driveway entrance, starting at 7:00 AM until the Work is completed. The road will be closed to one lane of traffic with flaggers and temporary no parking will be implemented for both sides of the roadway throughout construction. State Troopers initiated a traffic stop Sunday on a vehicle for moving unsafely from its lane. Troopers observed a pill container in the vehicle driven by 43 year old Adam Morley of Deposit, the contents was later identified as oxycodone. Troopers also discovered methamphetamine and a pump action shotgun that had been reported stolen in South Carolina. Morley was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the passenger, 27 year old Taylor Fineout of Hancock, was found in possession of a 30-round illegal high-capacity ammunition magazine, as well as methamphetamine, he was charged with Unlawful Possession of an Ammunition Feeding Device, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Both individuals were processed and were released on appearance tickets for Deposit Town Court on May 4.

State Police arrested 21 year old Colby Gravelin for Grand Larceny, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Troopers observed a vehicle with vehicle and traffic infractions, a traffic stop was initiated, Gravelin failed a Field Sobriety Test, Gravelin was found to be in possession of suspected illegal drugs. Troopers learned that Gravelin was a suspect in a larceny from Home Depot in Oneonta in December, where he allegedly left the store with about $1700 in merchandise without paying for it, Gravelin was issued appearance tickets for the Oneonta City Court & Oneonta Town Court at later dates.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Justin Quakenbush of Oneonta Monday for Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer and Reckless Endangerment. Deputies arrested Quackenbush following a report of a stolen vehicle, Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle in the City of Norwich, they initiated a traffic stop and Quackenbush failed to comply and led Deputies on a pursuit through the City and into the Town of New Berlin. Quackenbush stopped in South New Berlin where he was taken into custody, he was transported back to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office for processing and was arraigned & he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 bail.

The City of Oneonta announced a Traffic Alert regarding the Lettis Highway Lane Closures. Starting today, motorists can expect northbound lane closures on Lettis Highway (Route 23) between Fair Street and Main Street for approximately two weeks while drainage work is underway as part of State DOT's Oneonta Roundabout project.
