Police in Vestal announced that they are seeking 87 year old Charles McGlynn of Vestal, as a missing vulnerable adult. McGlynn suffers from dementia, and may require medical attention, he was last seen Tuesday afternoon at about 3:00PM on Hazel Drive in Vestal, he may be driving a 2009 grey Honda Civic with license plate number ANW-2161, he is described as a white male, 6'1", about 150 pounds, with white hair & a mustache, and blue eyes & wears glasses, he was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a blue jacket. State Police and the American Red Cross are Co-hosting the 5th annual State Trooper Christopher Skinner Memorial Blood Drive in Kirkwood today. Trooper Skinner was intentionally run down by Almond Upton while he was conducting a traffic stop on I-81 in 2014, a blood drive has been held in Skinner's memory every year since his death. The blood drive today runs from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM at the 5 Mile Point Fire Company at 16 Crescent Drive in Kirkwood. The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will hold their next Friday Breakfast event in Walton on January 11th. The event will run from 8:30 to 10:00 am at the Castle on the Delaware 139 Stockton Avenue in Walton. The featured speaker is Perry Dewey, Superintendent at DCMO BOCES, who will talk about on-campus, work-ready training programs for graduating high school seniors and how Delaware County's educational leaders are collaborating with the business community. Former Broome County Family Court Judge Rick Miller has had a lawsuit filed against him by 2 former employees in his office of sexual harassment. The lawsuit claims that Miller subjected the employees to harassing and abusive behavior at least 50 times between 2015 and June of 2017. Miller was removed from the bench in 2016.

Chenango County has 3 solid waste and recycling facilities operated by the Department of Public Works, the Pharsalia Landfill, plus 2 Transfer Stations, 1 in the Town of North Norwich and the other near Brisben.

4 Deposit men have been arrested in connection with a stabbing at the McDonald's on Main Street in Johnson City on December 20th. 2 men were taken to Wilson Hospital with stab wounds, Arrested for 2 counts each of gang assault were 22 year old Dane Edwards, 33 year old Jay Moore, 24 year old Travis Dise & 31 year old Christopher Nugent of Deposit, they were taken into custody without incident and will appear in court at a later date; additional arrests are expected.

Illegally manufactured fentanyl was the driving force behind a 45.2% increase in deaths involving synthetic opioids from 2016 to 2017, according to a new report by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In all, there were 70,237 drug overdose deaths in 2017. Opioids were involved in 67.8%, or 47,600 of those deaths. Of those opioid-involved overdose deaths, 59.8% of them, or 28,466, were due to synthetic opioids. A separate report from the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics released earlier this month found that in 2016 fentanyl surpassed heroin as the most commonly used drug in overdose deaths in the US.

The state Department of Health announced Thursday that the flu virus is prevalent in New York state. Health care workers, who are not vaccinated, are now required to wear a surgical procedure mask around patients. The department has also launched a flu tracker that allows people to stay up-to-date about flu rates in their county. Department reps say there have been over 3,000 flu cases in the state so far this season

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual State of The State Breakfast on January 2nd at the SUNY Oneonta Otsego Grille in the Morris Conference Center. The event will begin at 8:30, State Senator Jim Seward & Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig will be among the guest speakers.

The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service will be replacing a water main valve located on West Ann Street today. Work is to take place starting at 8am with water outages to begin at 9am. Residents on West Ann, Baker, London, Wilcox, and River Street (between Ann and Wilcox) will be without water for the duration of the project. Oneonta Police arrested 28 year old David Thomas of Oneonta for attempted Murder, Assault and Strangulation, following a domestic dispute. Police accuse Thomas of twisting the unidentified woman's neck “in a violent manner,” causing extensive damage, she was transported to Fox Hospital & was transferred to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown where she required surgery.

State Police are seeking the public’s assistance locating the people responsible for throwing 2 dogs out of an SUV on I-81 Wednesday. Troopers patrolling I-81 in the Whitney Point area spotted a tractor trailer parked in the left lane, Wednesday morning, they observed the truck driver carrying one badly injured dog and another following behind him. A State Police K9 handler bandaged the injured dog to stop bleeding, the Broome County Humane Society was contacted and took possession of the dogs. The truck driver observed a Dodge Durango SUV slow down, roll down their rear window and throw the dogs out of the window. Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 749-1614.

The Salvation Army Empire State Division provided nearly 4 million meals to individuals and families who needed it most, through last year’s Annual Red Kettle Campaign. This year, with just 10 ringing days left in this year’s campaign, the kettles are trending short of the statewide goal. Volunteer bell ringers are needed throughout The Salvation Army's 48-county region. An hour of bellringing yields enough money in the kettle to provide thirteen meals. The New York State Department of Health is advising parents/guardians, caregivers and health care providers to be aware of the signs and symptoms of enterovirus EV-D68, which has now been confirmed in 39 children in New York State. EV-D68 can cause mild to severe respiratory illness, or no symptoms at all. EV-D68 infection most commonly results in mild symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, cough, body aches and muscle aches. Severe symptoms, may include wheezing and difficulty breathing. Recent cases in NYS have been confirmed among individuals who reside in Western and Central New York, the Capital Region and Long Island, and specimens have been received from other regions for specialized testing at Wadsworth. 18 Year Old Gunnar Hassard of Oneonta has been arrested and charged with a hate crime after allegedly posting pro-Nazi posters around the SUNY Purchase campus, where he was a freshman. Hassard is accused of hanging 16 posters containing Nazi imagery, swastikas and images of Adolph Hitler; he was arraigned in Harrison Town Court yesterday and charged with Aggravated Harassment in the First Degree, a class E felony.

The Department of Environmental Protection announced plans to build a $34 million hydroelectric facility at Cannonsville Reservoir, which should produce enough electricity to power more than 3,500 homes each year. DEP officials announced that they will host 2 public meetings today, 1 at 9:00 AM at the Deposit State Theater, at 148 Front Street in Deposit & another at 12:30 PM at the Upper Delaware Council office, 211 Bridge Street in Narrowsburg. Governor Cuomo & area leaders announced the start of construction on the $20.5 million Canal Plaza with 48 apartments and new commercial space to Binghamton's North Side. The project will transform and revitalize land that is currently a brownfield; it will include 3 commercial suites totaling about 15,000 square feet, 1 of which will be occupied by Catholic Charities of Broome County for the operation of Encompass Health Home, which will deliver assistance to Medicaid-eligible adults and children with chronic medical and/ or behavioral health conditions. The project will be partially funded with $1.1 million in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery funding from the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28 year old Kristin Shoulars of Milton, after she was stopped for Traffic violations on State Highway 17 in the Town of Hancock. During the stop, it was found that her privileges to operate a motor vehicle were suspended, a search of the vehicle revealed that she was in possession of several controlled substances. Shoulars was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, she was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court where she was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bond.
A New York City man arrested for selling heroin and cocaine in Norwich, has pleaded guilty to drug charges. 21 year old Kodi Glenn pleaded guilty to 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; Glenn will serve 3 years in prison plus 2 years of probation.
8 people were left homeless following a fire on Main Street in Worcester Tuesday night. Fire was visible from the rear of the home when firefighters first arrived, all residents escaped without injuries. Fire Fighters from Oneonta, Schenevus, East Worcester, and Westford fire departments responded, with no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Delaware County supervisors released their preliminary, proposed 2019 budget to the public on Wednesday, November 14 which reflects a 1.5602 % increase from the 2018 budget. There will be a public hearing on the proposed 2019 budget, at the next Board of Supervisors meeting Today at 1:00 PM at the Charles Cook County Office Building at 111 Main Street, Delhi.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 39 year old Michael Allen of Delhi with disseminating indecent material to minors and endangering the welfare of a child. Allen is accused of electronically sending pornographic material to a minor. Allen was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court, where he was later remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Faculty in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. Allen is set to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date for further court proceedings.

ACCO Brand employees rallied together for the Sidney United Way campaign this year, with 250 employees taking part in this year’s fundraiser. New York State’s unemployment rate fell to 4.0% in October 2018, matching its lowest level on record, according to preliminary figures released by the State Department of Labor. The number of unemployed New Yorkers fell in October, from 397,600 to 387,700, its lowest level since April 2001. There was also a 26,600 person increase in the state’s civilian labor force, the largest monthly gain recorded since March 2004. Current labor force data extend back to 1976.
The Delaware County Board of Supervisors has proposed a 103 Million dollar budget proposal for fiscal year 2019 this week. The plan calls for a Property tax increase of about 1.56%. A public meeting will be held on the budget at the next board meeting on November 28 at 1:00 PM in Delhi.

State Police arrested 38 year old Annvernette Ellis of Edmeston for Driving While Intoxicated, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation plus several traffic tickets. A trooper on patrol near the intersection of State Highway 20 and State Highway 8 observed Ellis commit several traffic offenses, a traffic stop was initiated and found Ellis was drinking an alcoholic beverage while driving, she also possessed oxycodone. Ellis was arraigned & was remanded to jail pending future court action.

24 Year old Kevin Perry of Laurens was sentenced in Otsego County Court to 2 concurrent prison terms of 25 years to life. Perry pleaded guilty to 2 counts of 2nd degree murder for the killing of his parents Solveig & Timothy Perry, in the family home in Laurens last December.
The State Department of Transportation reminds motorists to obey the "Move Over Law". DOT Officials remind motorists that they should slow down & move over for vehicles with flashing red, white or amber lights, such as DOT vehicles, tow trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, & police vehicles.

The State Health Department announced 5 suspected cases of the Acute Flaccid Myelitis virus in New York. So far, 4 of the cases were reported just outside of New York City and a 5th case in Buffalo, Health officials confirmed 39 cases of EV-D68 in children across the state, which is a virus that is linked to Acute Flaccid Myelitis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that they are investigating 155 suspected cases of AFM nationwide.
The State Labor Department announced local unemployment rates today. Statewide, the rate was at 4.1% for September, in Chenango County, unemployment was 3.6%, in Delaware County, 3.9% and in Otsego County, 3.5%.
State Police arrested 45 year old James Mumbulo of Edmeston for 27 counts of Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals, after State Police were dispatched to check the welfare of several animals at a rented dairy farm on County Route 20 in Edmeston. Troopers located 27 deceased cow carcasses and several inches of manure, there was no food or water in the barn. After consulting with a veterinarian and the District Attorney’s office, Mumbulo was arrested. He was released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Edmeston Court on November 19th.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 24 year old Frances Thomas of Harpersfield for cruelty to animals; failure to provide proper food and sustenance. Deputies allege that Thomas failed to care for a dog over a period of time, failing to provide it with proper food, water, shelter and veterinary care. Thomas was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at the Harpersfield Town Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 2 people after a traffic stop on State Highway 28 in the town of Otsego. The driver, 20 year old Victoria Sawyer of Worcester, NY was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, The passenger, 32 year old Brandon Brinson of Wilmington, North Carolina was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container. Sawyer and Brinson were arraigned in the town of Otsego Court and released on their own recognizance and will reappear at a future court date.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department investigators have filed more charges against 29 year old Lacey Benson of Fish's Eddy, for 2 counts of Promoting Prison Contraband. Benson was being booked into the Delaware County Jail on Separate Charges, when she was found to possess a hypodermic syringe with the needle attached, hidden inside her body, later that same day she was found to be in possession of 2 more hypodermic syringes with needles attached, inside the Delaware County Jail. Benson was arraigned & was sent back to the Delaware County jail without bail.
State Police arrested 26 year old Thomas Harris of Unadilla for DWI, Reckless Driving and Harassment Sunday, after a trooper monitoring State Highway 357 observed
Harris driving at about 100 miles an hour. Harris was stopped; his B.A.C was measured at .20%. Harris is also accused of making numerous threats of physical violence
toward troopers and their family members. He was arraigned in the town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000
property bond.
Norwich Fire Department responded Monday night at about 10:30 PM, to a Trailer Fire on River Street. Investigators believe that the cause of the fire was from a tree that
took down a power line, the trailer was a complete loss. No injuries have been reported.
New York sent an estimated $24.1 billion more in tax payments to Washington than it got back in federal spending in federal fiscal year 2017, getting back 90 cents for every dollar, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. In 2017, New York was one of just 11 states that sent more to Washington than it  received. Only New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut fared worse while New Mexico fared the best. While New York received 10 cents less per dollar of taxes, most states received more than they paid.
Assemblyman Cliff Crouch encourages new farmers to apply for the state’s New Farmers Grant Program. Empire State Development and the state Department of
Agriculture recently announced $1 million in new funding is now available to promote agricultural growth and support people who are entering or newly entered farming
with individual grants worth up to $50,000. For the past 5 years, the program has awarded nearly 90 farms with grants totaling $3.27 million.
Governor Cuomo today announced $5 million in state funding is available to support the recruitment and retention of Certified Recovery Peer Advocates and nurse
practitioners to assist New Yorkers suffering from addiction. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services will award up to 170 grants to
certified outpatient and opioid treatment providers to help secure approximately 120 nurse practitioner and 50 Certified Peer Recovery Advocate positions across the
state.  Applications will be accepted through November 7th. Interested parties can review the Request for Applications at oasas.ny.gov.
SUNY Broome celebrated the grand opening of a $12.7 million advanced manufacturing building yesterday. The Advanced Manufacturing Center was built on the site of
the old mechanical building, the new facility houses classrooms and high-tech labs for welding, soldering, fermentation and food processing; the building is already in

Governor Cuomo announced the Syracuse Mets are committing to sign a lease extension to call Syracuse home for at least 25 years. New York State is committing $12.5 million to Onondaga County's major renovation project at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, in preparation for the arrival of the Mets' minor league franchise in 2019. The Governor also announced the team has been renamed and will now be known as the "Syracuse Mets."

Governor Cuomo announced that the New York Air National Guard is preparing to deploy 75 Airmen from the 106th Rescue Wing to assist in the response to Hurricane Michael, which is hitting the Florida panhandle today. The Airmen from the 106th Rescue Wing will deploy to Gulfport, Mississippi with one HC-130 search and rescue aircraft, one HH-60 Pave Hawk Rescue helicopter and two inflatable rescue boats. In addition, the New York Army National Guard is preparing to deploy 2 heavy lift helicopters to Tallahassee, Florida with 20 Soldiers. The HC-130 can conduct search operations from the air and can refuel helicopters in flight, which extends the range of the helicopters.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department and State DOT Inspectors conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on State Highway 30 in the Town of Colchester. 3 Inspections were conducted; Deputies issued 17 summonses for various safety violations including unsafe tires, uninspected motor vehicle, unregistered vehicle, loose cargo, spreading debris on the highway, & inadequate brakes. 2 of the vehicles were taken out of service, 1 driver was arrested for a displaying a forged commercial motor vehicle inspection certificate and issued multiple summons returnable to the Town of Colchester Court.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested 46 year old Michael Lynch of Sidney following the execution of a search warrant at his County Highway 23, Town of Sidney, and residence. The Regional Economic Development Council awards will include $690,000 for the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, located on the site of the original 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair held 50 years ago. Bethel Woods will use the state funding for the 50th anniversary event for next year, which is planned as a 3-day festival like the original event.

The Broome County Health Department has confirmed 2 cases of the West Nile Virus in recent weeks. Both Patients were hospitalized and both are recovering. Mild cases usually feature a fever, headache, body aches and occasionally skin rash or swollen glands, more serious cases include high fever, neck stiffness, muscle weakness and an altered mental status. Public health officials say the key is to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes, through insect repellent, screens and the elimination of standing water.
The Governor’s Administration and Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced an October 11 roundtable event in Oneonta to discuss the upcoming 2020 Census and steps to ensure a full count of all New Yorkers. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office announced that 34 year old Timothy Adams of Sherburne will be charged shortly, in Connection with the Monday Morning Robbery at
The Sherburne Mirabito Convenience Store. Adams is accused of forcibly stealing items in the store & throwing hot coffee in the store clerk's face before fleeing the
scene. Monday afternoon, deputies located Adams, who had harmed himself with a knife and fled on foot to a nearby overgrown field where he was later apprehended.
Officers administered first aid to Adams, he was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, upon release, he will be charged with 2nd degree Robbery.

Hartwick College officials revealed today that 1 of their graduates was a victim of the Schoharie crash that killed 20 on Saturday. Officials said that class of 2015 graduate
Savannah Bursese was killed Saturday in the Schoharie Limousine crash; she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Political Science and Business Administration.
State Police & The NTSB are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash.

Possession of Marihuana & Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Officers seized 7 grams of Methamphetamine, 5 ounces of Marijuana, prescription pills, Digital scales
and drug packaging materials as well as 5 shotguns and rifles & $5,188 in cash from suspected drug sales. Price was arraigned in the Town of Colesville Court today and
was remanded to the custody of the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility without bail.

Governor Cuomo announced that the driver of the limousine involved in Saturday's in Schoharie, did not have the appropriate license to be driving the vehicle. Cuomo also announced today that the vehicle in question was inspected last month & failed the inspection. State attorneys are seeking a cease and desist order to stop Prestige Limo from operating until the investigation into the accident has been completed. 18 people in the vehicle, including the driver were killed; also 2 bystanders were killed in a convenience store parking lot when they were struck by a vehicle that had been struck by the limo. The investigation is continuing.
The state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services' Office of Fire Prevention and Control held their 21st annual ceremony Monday morning in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. 28 names were added today, many of the names added in recent years were from New York City Fire Department who died from illnesses associated with working at the World Trade Center after the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks.
Corning announced that they will invest 11 million dollars for upgrades to their Oneonta Plant. The upgrades will allow for the company to keep 175 jobs at the plant, local officials also expect that the Corning Expansion could help attract more businesses to locate at the railyard redevelopment project area.
Drug Overdose deaths from Opioids have declined in Broome County. In the first 9 months of 2018, Officials said that there were 22 overdose deaths, in 2016 there were 60 deaths, and in 2017 there were 55. Most of the deaths were male, the average age was 41.
The city of Oneonta Department of Public Service will flush water mains in a portion of the low-service area, starting at 9:00 this morning. Work will continue until 4:00 PM, Flushing is expected to take place through the end of the week. Streets where service will be affected include Main Street and various side streets in the City’s East End.

State Police and the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 30 and S30A in the town of Schoharie. A Ford Excursion limousine was traveling in a southwestern direction on State Route 30 and failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 30A. The limousine traveled across the intersection into a parking lot and struck a 2015 Toyota Highlander which was unoccupied and parked; the Highlander then struck and killed 2 pedestrians. 20 victims were killed, all 18 in the limousine, including the driver, and the two pedestrians. The investigation is ongoing.
Otsego County Sheriff Department arrested 31 year old Joel Young of Exeter, after he pointed a shotgun at a Sheriff’s Deputy during a domestic dispute call. The deputy entered the residence and attempted to arrest the defendant, who fled from into his bedroom & retrieved a shotgun and pointed it at the Deputy. Young was taken in to custody following a physical struggle, he was arrested for Menacing a police officer, Criminal Possession of Weapon, Resisting Arrest & Harassment, he was arraigned in the Town of Otsego Court, & was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond and he is scheduled to reappear at a later date.
State DOT announced the completion of a $2.7 million pavement resurfacing project on Interstate 88 in the town and city of Oneonta. The 3.9-mile improvement project between Exit 13 and 16 included the milling & repaving, the shoulders were also given a surface treatment and all pavement markings were replaced. Curb ramps at the ends of the Exit 14 and Exit 15 off ramps were improved to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Fire Prevention Week is this week & the Firemen's Association of the State of New York is urging New Yorkers to ensure their smoke alarms are in proper working order, they specifically encourage New Yorkers to install smoke alarms equipped with sealed-in, non-removable batteries that last for 10 years. According to the National Fire Protection Association, three of every five home fire deaths occur in homes without smoke alarms or working smoke alarms. Firefighters frequently encounter smoke alarms with missing or dead batteries.

Attorney General Barbara Underwood today announced an agreement with Uber to settle allegations it intentionally concealed a 2016 data breach in violation of state law. The settlement requires Uber to adopt a data breach notification and data security practices and a corporate integrity program for employees to report unethical behavior, and hire an independent third party to assess its data security practices. It also requires Uber to pay a record penalty of $148 million. The agreement followed a 2016 breach where hackers informed Uber that they had downloaded the personal information of 25 million riders and 7.7 million driver in the U.S., Uber ultimately paid the hackers $100,000 to conceal the breach.
With the award of the multi-million dollar Downtown Revitalization Improvement Grant, the City of Oneonta and SUNY Oneonta are collaborating to bring Artspace to Oneonta to conduct a feasibility study to regarding a possible implementation of a self-sustaining arts development project. A judge has denied a motion by ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver regarding his bail request, pending the appeal of his corruption conviction and seven-year prison term. U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni has denied Silver's request Monday, she stated that the substance of Silver's appeal lacks merit, and the sole purpose of the request was to stall Silver starting his prison term on October 5th. Silver was sentenced to 12 years in prison after his first conviction in 2015, that conviction was overturned after the U.S. Supreme Court redefined the boundaries of public corruption, then a 2nd jury convicted him
earlier this year, for taking $5 million illegally by using his political power for personal gain.

The State Department of Health should be doing more to insure that nursing homes are properly inspecting, maintaining and testing their medical equipment, according to an audit released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Auditors found that while DOH completes its surveys on time and reports deficient practices to the public, as required, but they only looked at a small number of items in the facilities and could be missing equipment defects. In visits to 36 facilities, auditors found several pieces of poorly maintained equipment, including a transport wheelchair that was covered by rust, mold or mildew, and a suction machine, used to remove airway fluid, covered in dust. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators arrested 49 year old Christopher Knipper of Harpersfield for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Falsifying Business Records. Knipper is accused of possessing a stolen motor vehicle that he took to a scrap yard where he had claimed ownership of the vehicle. He was arraigned in the Town of Davenport Court and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash or $20,000 secured bond.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 33 year old Nicholas Andrews of Preston for criminal sale of a controlled substance & criminal possession of a controlled substance Friday, after deputies executed a Search Warrant. Andrews was arraigned in the Chenango County Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility with $12,000 bail. Norwich Police Department and Chenango County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29 year old Shawn Banks of Oneonta for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, following an accident on State Highway 28 in the Town of Meredith. Deputies discovered that Banks had his driving privileges suspended; he was also issued a summons for failure to keep right. Banks was released on tickets and is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date.

Empire State Development announced that Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney will construct a 5-megawatt solar farm on its industrial campus. The solar farm will utilize a large land site in the Village that would otherwise be unusable because it is located in a floodplain, will provide power to the rest of Amphenol’s operations and will promote stability of the electrical supply as the power generated goes back into the grid-especially during peak usage periods in the summer. Chenango County Sheriff's Department arrested 46 year old Robert Coleman of Smithville for DWI and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sheriff’s Deputies were patrolling the area of State Hwy 220 in the Town of McDonough when Deputies came across a vehicle that had been involved in an accident. Coleman's vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Coleman was processed on the charges and released until a later date in the Town of McDonough Court.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department responded to the report of a man with a shot gun near the Charlotte Valley School Monday. The school was in lockdown while deputies investigated, the man with the shot gun was a hunter in the area behind the Davenport head Start, the lockdown was lifted, and no arrests were made.

Governor Cuomo today requested that the federal government grant a Major Disaster Declaration for 8 counties devastated by flash flooding during severe storms in August. A Declaration would result in financial assistance from the federal government for emergency protective measures, debris removal, and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure. 47 year old William Holtslander of Unadilla was found guilty by an Otsego County Court Jury on 13 counts of 1st degree sexual abuse. Holtslander was convicted after 4 hours of deliberation by the jury, for molesting a girl under the age of 11, 13 times; he faces sentencing on November 13th.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33 year old Scott Lord of Deposit Wednesday. Deputies stopped a vehicle on Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson for various violations, Lord is accused of lying about his name, possessing methamphetamine, heroin, crack cocaine, and LSD, he was charged with 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, plus Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Impersonation, and numerous Traffic violations. Lord was processed & was released on appearance tickets for Town of Dickinson Court at a later date.
The Otsego County Department of Health reported that a raccoon tested positive for rabies in the town of Milford today. The raccoon was killed by a dog that was not current with rabies vaccination, it will be placed on 6 month quarantine, and there was no known human exposure to the raccoon. Otsego County Sheriff Department attempted to stop a vehicle Wednesday afternoon on State Route 23 in the town of Morris for speeding. The vehicle's operator failed to comply, a pursuit through the Village of Morris. Deputies reported that during the pursuit, the unidentified driver attempted to pass another vehicle when his engine exploded and the vehicle caught fire. The suspect was taken into custody, numerous charges are pending, and firefighters from the Morris Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced the guilty pleas of Joseph Zupnik & Daniel Herman, the former owners and operators of Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cooperstown, for endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person. Herman and Zupnik's guilty pleas included admissions that between May 28th and June 1st 2016, they recklessly acted in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of a physically disabled person & failing to provide sufficient staff to provide the necessary care for one Focus resident, including, nutrition, medications, and incontinence care. Zupnik and Herman face sentencing on October 10, 2018.

Otsego County held its 21st annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day this past weekend, with a Friday event in Unadilla & the Saturday event at the Meadows Office Complex in Cooperstown. Governor Cuomo signed legislation that expands the benefits available to eligible crime victims, who have not been physically injured, to include reimbursement of crime scene cleanup and domestic violence shelter costs. The change will allow victims of hate crimes or domestic violence cases to apply for compensation for these expenses from the state Office of Victim Services. Under current law, crime scene cleanup and shelter costs incurred by crime victims were excluded.
State Police arrested 57 year old Cornelia Dawson of Massachusetts for Aggravated DWI with a reportable B.A.C. of .21%, as well as several other traffic tickets, after Troopers monitoring I-88 in Oneonta Dawson's vehicle cross into the shoulder several times. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 32 year old Bradley Wallace of Delhi for 3rd degree assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, and unlawful imprisonment, following an investigation of a domestic dispute in the Town of Delhi. Wallace was arraigned in Town of Delhi Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1000 secured bond.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released the results of an audit of the village of Deposit today. The Audit found that the Board did not ensure all disbursements were approved before payment and listed on an approved abstract & did not ensure all disbursements were supported and for proper purposes. The audit found that the board began to enforce the collection of delinquent real property taxes in March 2016, but $172,900 remains outstanding. DiNapoli's report recommended that the board Review, audit and approve all disbursements before payment, unless otherwise allowed by law, Ensure disbursements are adequately supported and for proper purposes & that they should audit the Clerk-Treasurer’s records and report at least once a year.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 69 year old Alan Tiffany of Walton on a criminal summons issued by The Town of Sidney Court for Harassment. The arrest followed an investigation into a report of a disturbance at a Rest Area on I-88 in the Town of Sidney on July 18th, where Tiffany is alleged to have subjected another person to unwanted physical contact. Tiffany is scheduled to appear at Town of Sidney Court at a later date to answer the charges.
29 year old Mark Briley was arrested by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office for failing to mail his identification form within 10 days to the state Sex Offender Registry and leaving the state. Briley is on parole in New York, he was located in New Jersey and extradited back to New York, he was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Oneonta Court for August 14th. Briley was charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a fellow inmate at Otsego County Jail in 2006, he is a level 2 sex offender & he is required to register for life.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year old James Cormier on a charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle and unlicensed driver, following a traffic stop on Meredith Street in the Village of Delhi. Governor Cuomo today appointed a workgroup to draft legislation for a regulated adult-use marijuana program for the legislature to consider in the upcoming session based on the findings of a multi-agency study he commissioned in January. The study, led by the Department of Health, concluded that the positive impacts of a regulated marijuana market in New York State outweigh the potential negative impacts, and that areas that may be a cause for concern can be mitigated with regulation and proper use of public education that is tailored to address key populations. The workgroup will be overseen by Counsel to the Governor Alphonso David; it will consist of experts in public health, public safety and economics, and the leaders of relevant state agencies.

The jury reached their decision in less than 30 minutes, Zindle was convicted of performing sexual acts with a boy under the age of 15 on 9 occasions, he faces sentencing on August 27th in Otsego County Court.
Governor Cuomo has a large lead against his challengers, according to the latest Quinnipiac Poll. Cuomo topped Democratic challenger Cynthia Nixon by 59 to 23% among registered Democratics, against Republican candidate Marc Molinaro, Cuomo had a 43 to 23% lead.
State Police arrested 27 year old Dillion Beadle of Norwich for Driving While Intoxicated after he was involved in a two car crash. Troopers were dispatched to a crash on State Highway 12 in Norwich. No serious injuries were reported. Beadle was turned over to a sober third party and is scheduled to appear in the town of Norwich Court on August 2nd.
The New York State Departments of Health and Agriculture & Markets cautioned New York residents, visitors and farmers about the continued importance of taking measures to protect against ticks, as a new tick species, the "longhorned tick," was recently discovered in Westchester County. The State Department of Health reported that the longhorned tick has transmitted disease to humans in other parts of the world, and may pose a threat to livestock. The Department of Agriculture and Markets encourages livestock owners and veterinarians to also be vigilant for unusually heavy tick infestations, if longhorned ticks are suspected, farmers should consult with their veterinarians and contact the Department at 518-457-3502.

Former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos on Tuesday was found guilty of fraud and corruption in a retrial stemming from his efforts to help his son receive a no-show job. His son, Adam Skelos, was also found guilty of eight charges as well. It was the second time Dean and Adam Skelos were found guilty of the charges in a federal courthouse. The faced a retrial this year after their 2016 convictions were tossed following the Supreme Court’s reinterpretation of the definition of theft of honest services.
State Police arrested 2 people after a traffic stop on State Route 12 in Chenango. 31 year old Derrick Jenks of Greene was arrested for 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 27 year old Leigha Nault of Greene was arrested for 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, & Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks and Possession of a Controlled Substance Outside of Original Container. Nault was operating a vehicle on State Route 12 which was not insured. After an investigation, troopers located marijuana, heroin, LSD, and several different types of illegal fireworks. Nault and Jenks were released on appearance tickets in the town of Chenango Court on July 24th.

The Village of Unadilla was awarded funds under the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program, for $375,000 to provide a Village-Wide Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program. Property tax levy growth for local governments will be capped at 2% for the 2019 fiscal year, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. This figure affects the tax cap calculations for all counties, towns, fire districts, 44 cities and 10 villages. The tax cap limits tax levy increases to the lesser of the rate of inflation or 2% with some exceptions, including a provision that allows municipalities to override the tax cap. The State Department of Health today announced the filing of emergency regulations adding any condition for which an opioid could be prescribed as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana. Effective immediately, registered practitioners may certify patients to use medical marijuana as a replacement for opioids, provided that the precise underlying condition for which an opioid would otherwise be prescribed is stated on the patient's certification. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 28 year old Samantha Rogers of Hancock on a Bench Warrant issued by the Binghamton City Court due for failure to appear in court to answer charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Rogers was later turned over to Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies for arraignment in City of Binghamton Court.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies received a complaint of a red motorcycle on State Highway 28, in the village of Delhi, traveling at a high rate of speed. A responding Deputy was unable to safely pursue the motorcycle due to its speed. Deputies located and identified the operator of the motorcycle as 29 year old Kyle Vandewerker of Oneonta, who was clocked at 109 miles per hour. Vandewerker was issued Traffic Tickets for reckless driving, speeding, and speed not reasonable and prudent and was released to appear in the Town of Delhi Court to answer the charges on a later date.

State Police arrested 39 year old Allen Shew of Afton, for Criminal Trespass & Disorderly Conduct. Troopers responded to the Mirabito on Main Street in Afton, Shew is accused of throwing items inside the store, kicking the glass door and throwing items outside. Shew was arraigned in the town of Afton Court. He is scheduled to reappear on July 23rd, and advised never to return to the store.

cocaine, marijuana and other drugs, O’Brien was arraigned & he was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

Governor Cuomo today announced the completion of a $2.2 million project to expand and revitalize the Chenango Valley State Park beachfront and swimming area as
part of the New York Parks 2020 initiative. The project includes expanded sand beach area with multiple swim areas, a new splash pad area adjacent to the beach, and a
new corkscrew waterslide. This year, there are 3 week-long sessions with 9 total classes offered at Chenango Valley State Park, more than 80 children will learn to swim

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29 year old Donald Kern of Sidney for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals. Deputies and Hancock Village Police Department responded in March to the report of a dead dog in the Delaware River, that had been fatally shot. Kern was identifed as the owner, Deputies recovered a rifle illegally sold by Kern, that was used to kill the dog. Kern was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court Sunday morning and was remanded to the Delaware County jail on $1,000 cash bail pending further court action. Kern will face additional firearms related charges shortly.
The American Red Cross is facing an emergency blood shortage following a difficult Fourth of July week for blood donations; with hundreds fewer blood drives than a typical week and a resulting decline in donations. The Broome County District Attorney’s office announced that 27 year old Thomas Sessions of Whitney Point was arraigned Wednesday in Broome County Court, in connection with a March 23rd attack that seriously injured a Lisle resident. Sessions was located earlier this month in Arizona and taken into custody. The grand jury indictment charges Sessions with attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, & attempted 1st & 2nd degree assault; he is accused of striking the victim in the head after knocking on the victim’s door & claiming to have a disabled vehicle.
A new report released Monday by a coalition of New York State law enforcement officials, public health experts and elected officials, showed that The Delaware County had the highest rates of gun-related suicide and homicide. The research focused at the rate of homicide and suicide in each county from 2012 to 2016, the report showed that for every 100,000 residents of Delaware County, there were 13.4 gun-related deaths, & the a rate of suicide by gun at 12.9. Other counties that ranked high were Allegany, Wyoming, Cattaraugus and Sullivan counties. New York State’s overall gun-related death rate was 4.4 deaths per 100,000 residents, which is below the national average of 11.8 deaths per 100,000 residents.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19 year old Cordell Witherow of Plymouth for 3rd degree Assault. Witherow is accused of causing serious physical injury to an unidentified male victim. Witherow was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Plymouth Court at a later date.
Chenango County Sheriff's Department arrested 24 year old Cara Kaskeski of Mount Vision, for Welfare Fraud & Offering a False Instrument for Filing. Kaskeski allegedly collected more than $9,000 in child care assistance from July 2014 through November 2017 which she was not entitled to receive, she was issued appearance tickets to appear in the City of Norwich Court at a later date.

Following the delivery, a search was conducted at the home of 32 year old Andrew Davis, A search of the residence leads to the recovery of the package, digital scales, cellphone, & other items, Davis was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 42 year old Patrick Renner Jr. of Stamford for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & violating the terms of his probation. Renner is accused of driving a vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Stamford on Thursday with a revoked driver’s license and without an ignition interlock device, from a previous DWI conviction. Renner was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail pending further court action.
State Police arrested 36 year old Jennifer Grant of Westford for DWI, Operating a Vehicle While Registration Suspended, & Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, plus numerous traffic tickets. Troopers stopped Grant while on Otsego County Highway 34 after they observed her cross the center line and drive onto the shoulder. Grant was released to a sober third party and given appearance tickets to the town of Westford Court on July 17th.
State Police arrested 35 year old Todd Bailey of Cobleskill for felony Criminal Mischief, plus 3rd degree Assault & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Chenango County District Attorney Joe McBride announced that 34 year old Tobias Rundstrom-Wooding pleaded guilty this morning in Chenango County Court to 2nd degree murder and 1st degree rape.

Jabari Ashe of Binghamton was sentenced to 25 years to life in Prison in Broome County Court for the fatal shooting of Tyquan Gumbs in Binghamton on April 28th of 2017. Ashe was charged with 2nd degree murder, he was found guilty in Broome County Court recently following a 3 day trial.

The state Department of Health billed drug companies for $425.9 million in Medicaid drug rebates after auditors alerted the department to rebates it missed out on, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Auditors determined that, with the inception of Health and Recovery Plans, The Department of Health did not take appropriate steps to ensure that Health and Recovery Plans-related drugs were identified and processed for rebate invoicing, erroneously excluding those drugs due to inadequate monitoring of the rebate process. Rebates were not invoiced and collected from manufacturers until after auditors informed Health Department officials of the errors.
State DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos announced that this weekend is Free Fishing Weekend in New York State. Each year, New York offers six free fishing days. The Free Fishing Weekend takes place during the last full weekend in June; additional Free Fishing Days include National Hunting and Fishing Day, which will be September 22nd this year, plus Veterans Day in November, and the weekend preceding Presidents Day in February. The State Legislature has passed the Drug Take Back Act. The bill creates a statewide pharmaceutical take-back program and holds drug companies accountable for proper disposal, it also aims at protecting New York's water supplies from improper drug disposal. The bill was passed by the State Senate in their final days of the 2018 session, it passed in the Assembly several weeks earlier, and it now goes to Governor Cuomo for consideration.

Former State Senate Leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam returned to a Manhattan Federal Court room Tuesday, they will be retried on corruption charges, after their previous convictions were tossed on appeal. Both were convicted in 2015< dean Skelos was accused of using his political influence to get his son Adam a series of “No Show” jobs with salaries totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. The 2015 convictions were tossed after the US Supreme Court changed the definition of public corruption, which allowed for retrial for Skelos & former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.

The State Department of Labor released preliminary local area unemployment rates for May 2018. The State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 4.6% in April to 4.5% in May 2018. Locally, Chenango County had 4.3% unemployment, Delaware County had 4.5% & Otsego County had an even 4% unemployment in May.
State Senator Fred Akshar of the Senate Joint Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, announced funding for 17 County jails throughout New York State in order to fund substance use disorder treatment and transition services. The Task Force advocated for, and secured, $3.75 million in the 2018-19 state budget to help implement, support, and expand these services. Locally, the Broome County Jail will get $400,000 in funding for this program.

State Police arrested 29 year old Elliott Hazlett of Davenport for DWI with a BAC of .20%. Troopers responded to a 1 vehicle accident on State Highway 23 in the town of Davenport, where Hazlett drove his vehicle off the roadway and into a tree. Hazlett was released on appearance tickets and is due in the town of Davenport Court on June 26th.

Troopers observed Colon speeding on Interstate 88 in the town of Otego, he was arrested for DWI & several other violations, He was arraigned in the town of Laurens Court & was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
The New York State Department of Health today announced it will develop a regulatory amendment to add opioid use as a qualifying condition for medical marijuana. Opioid use joins 12 other qualifying conditions under the state’s Medical Marijuana Program. Currently, patients can be eligible if they have been diagnosed with cancer; HIV or AIDS; ALS; Parkinson's disease; multiple sclerosis; spinal cord injuries, epilepsy; Huntington's disease; post-traumatic stress disorder; or chronic pain. State Police arrested 34 year old Travis Robinson of Worcester for Aggravated DWI, with BAC of .18%. During their investigation, troopers learned that Robinson was wanted in the state of Florida. Troopers saw a vehicle stopped along the side of I-88, they accuse Robinson of being intoxicated. Robinson was arraigned in the town of Maryland Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail. He is being held without bail pending his extradition hearing.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident Saturday night in the Town of McDonough. 35 year old Craig Gray of Oxford was operating an ATV and entered Corbin Road from a driveway. 24 year old Phillip Jackson was operating a Pick-up Truck on Corbin Road when he struck Gray as he entered the roadway. Gray was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Town of Plymouth man for 3 counts of Grand Larceny, Scheming to Defraud, and Issuing a Bad Check, in Sherburne and Plymouth. 48 year old Russell Davis of Plymouth was arrested after he allegedly stole three separate vehicles from three separate victims using checks with insufficient funds. 2 of the vehicles were recovered & returned, the 3rd was sold for scrap. Davis was arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s arrested 2 County Jail inmates on prison contraband and drug charges, they have obtained an arrest warrant for a 3rd inmate that is in jail at the Elmira Correctional Facility. Correction officers seized Suboxone during a jail search, which was alleged smuggled into the jail by 33 year old Chad Ostrander of Grand Gorge, it was later distributed to inmate Randy Condon Jr. of Sidney & Justin Crandall of Sidney. Ostrander and Crandall have been charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, they were arraigned, Ostrander & Crandall were sent back to the Delaware County Jail, Condon was returned to the custody of the State Department of Corrections and will be arraigned on a later date.
The human remains found buried beneath a fire pit in the backyard of a Lake County Florida property have been positively identified as Michael Shaver of Laurens, who has been missing for since 2015. The remains found on Laurie Shaver’s property in Clermont, Florida, Police are treating Shaver’s death as suspicious and Laurie Shaver remains the sole suspect. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
The State DEC announced that an official with the Public Works Department in Norwich has been charged with unlawful disposal of solid waste. George Carnrike was charged in relation to an incident in early May, when city employees assisted the Chenango County Sheriff's Office with the clean-up of a "tent city" along the Chenango River, used needles and bags of garbage were collected. The program requires manufacturers of cleaning products to disclose chemical ingredients, byproducts and contaminants with the potential to trigger asthma in adults and children, on their websites. Governor Cuomo today announced that more than $43.8 million will be awarded to support cancer prevention and early detection programs statewide over the next 5 years. The programs receiving these funds participate in the New York State Cancer Services Program, which aims to reduce disparities in breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer incidence and mortality through free cancer screening for uninsured and underinsured, low-income populations. Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced that in May, there was no overdose deaths in the County for the 2nd straight month, there were also no overdose deaths in February. There have been 8 overdose deaths in Broome County this year so far, there had been at least one every month for 5 years prior to February.
The Main Street Revitalization Project in continuing in Sidney. Crews have been cementing the West Side of the street this week, today, Trees were being placed in the ground on the East side of the street. The whole project is expected to be completed in Late July.

Governor Cuomo announced an extreme risk protection order law that would prevent individuals determined by a court that are likely to engage in violent conduct from purchasing, possessing, or attempting to purchase or possess any type of firearm. The legislation would make New York the first state in the nation to empower its teachers and school administrators to prevent school shootings by pursuing court intervention. No law currently exists in New York State that enables a court to issue an order to temporarily seize firearms from a person who is believed to pose a severe threat of harm to himself, herself, or others unless that person has also been accused of a crime or family offense.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the Walton Volunteer Fire Department Emergency Squad responded to a tractor trailer accident in the Town of Walton last Thursday. 37 year old Joel Klinegardner of Sidney Center was towing a trailer carrying a log skidder, the vehicle’s brakes failed, Klinegardner lost control, the truck struck a sign, the trailer detached & overturned in a parking lot, the truck struck a tree before coming to rest, Klinegardner was not injured, charges will be filed at the conclusion of this investigation.

Richards was part of an arrest of 16 people charged with operating a meth lab in the Southern Tier. Richards will be sentenced August 9th in US District court in Binghamton, for his guilty plea for possessing the pseudoephedrine, an over the counter medicine used to manufacture methamphetamine.
The State Legislature approved of Barbara Underwood remaining as interim attorney general in the aftermath of Eric Schneiderman's resignation. Underwood will stay on as the Attorney General until the end of the year; she will not seek election for the office in November.
State DEC officials are warning New York Motorists to be on the lookout for turtles in the road. Thousands of turtles are killed each year in New York by vehicles; Turtles migrate to nesting areas in May and June, and are more likely to cross roads near rivers and marshy areas. State environmental officials remind drivers that they should only stop and move turtles when conditions are safe.
The Arc Otsego is accepting artwork submissions for its 14th Annual Voice event, which will be held July 27th through August 10th in the Fine Arts Building at SUNY Oneonta. The opening reception will be held on July 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, anyone living in New York State who is 18 years of age or older and has an intellectual and/or other developmental disability may submit artwork for consideration. The artwork submission form is available at www.arcotsego.org. The deadline for submissions is June 10th.
A.O. Fox Hospital will offer training for teenagers interested in becoming junior volunteers. The training is scheduled for July 10th from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the Fox Hospital’s Education Department. The State Department of Labor released preliminary local unemployment rates for April. The number of private sector jobs in the State was 8,155,700 while the State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.6% in April. Locally, Chenango County's unemployment rate was 5.6%, Delaware County was 6% & Otsego County was at 5.1%
The State DOT will host an open house public information meeting this evening at 6:00 PM at the Colesville Town Hall on Welton Street in Harpursville regarding the Dilly Road culvert replacement project. The proposed work zone traffic control will require an approximate 2 week closure of Dilly Road at the intersection of State Route 7. Traffic will use a three-mile, six-minute detour. Dilly Road accommodates an average of 60 vehicles daily. The project is in the preliminary design phase. Construction is currently scheduled for the 2019 construction season.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 55 year old Kathleen Denario of Oneonta for Resisting Arrest, False Personation, Petit Larceny and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Deputies attempted to arrest Denario on a Probation Warrant issued by Otsego County & after a complaint in the parking lot of the Hobart Inn where Denario was located. Denario was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond, pending action in Town of Stamford Court at a later date.
New York State Commissioner of Health Dr. Howard Zucker today announced that influenza is no longer prevalent in New York State. Dr. Zucker previously declared influenza prevalent in the state on December 13th; it peaked during the week ending February 17, 2018, when there were more than 18,252 laboratory-confirmed cases in one week. As of May 12, 2018, 128,020 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza have been reported and 23,317 people have been reported as hospitalized with influenza in New York this season. There have been 6 pediatric influenza-associated deaths this flu season.

A free Orchestral Concert will be held tonight at the CHENANGO ARTS COUNCIL at 7:30 pm. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 51 year old Mohamed Yvonnas, of Brooklyn, for DWI aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle & operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Yvonnas had a .13% blood alcohol content while he was operating a motor vehicle in the Town of Meredith, he was also found to be an illegal immigrant and to have an active warrant for DWI from New York City. Yvonnas was arraigned at the Town of Davenport Court and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000 cash bail or $10,000 bond pending future action in Town of Meredith Court at a later date.
