State Police arrested 73-year-old Csaba Fekete of Bainbridge, for 2 felony counts of Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree. Troopers were advised of 2 incidents where Fekete was allegedly sounding a loud alarm outside his home and then yelling at separate neighbors, which violated an order of protection. Fekete was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge court and was remanded to the Chenango County jail on $20,000 cash bail. His next court date is pending.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & State Police arrested 23-year-old Geraldo Rivera of Greene for 2nd degree Burglary. Deputies arrested Rivera following a report that he was found inside the victim’s residence by the victim. Rivera was arraigned in the Town of Greene Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail pending future court action.

The year marked the 131st edition of the Delaware County Fair.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit upheld New York State's denial of a water quality certification for the proposed Constitution Pipeline. The Pipeline would include construction of 100 miles of new natural gas pipeline across Central New York, crossing more than 250 streams and more than 80 acres of wetlands. In 2014, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the pipeline but conditioned that approval on certification from New York State, the State DEC denied the certification on the grounds that they failed to provide sufficient information that the project would meet the state’s standards.
The Sidney American Legion will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, to assist the Sidney Historical Association, as they are looking for a permanent building or space for their museum. More information is available at 237-4762

The concert will take place greenside following the completion of the First Round of Play on Friday August 18th on the McIntosh Soundstage.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that New York has agreed in principle to join a state-federal $465 million settlement with Mylan Inc. New York led a coalition of states in the investigation that resolved allegations that Mylan knowingly underpaid rebates owed to Medicaid for the drugs EpiPen® and EpiPen Jr.® that were dispensed to Medicaid beneficiaries. Under the settlement, New York will receive $38.5 million.
State Police arrested 60-year-old Lawrence Jaeger of Edmeston for felony Grand Larceny, after troopers were advised of a theft of funds from the Burlington Flats Fish and Game Club, in the town of Hartwick. An investigation determined that, while acting as the club treasurer, Jaeger had stolen just over $50,000 from the club funds, from June 2010 up until May 2017. Jaeger was arraigned in the town of Hartwick court and was released without bail; his next court date is on September 13th.

State Police arrested 41 year old Steven Sapinsky, of New Berlin, 26 year old Sabrina Gray of New Berlin & 30 year old James Bailey of West Edmeston, for Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine & Petty Larceny. Troopers responded to a report of shoplifting from the Dollar General on State Route 12 in the town of Norwich, and then driving away, the suspect vehicle was stopped & troopers accused the 3 of stealing items commonly used to manufacture meth. Sapinsky, Gray, and Bailey were arraigned & were remanded to the Chenango County jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond. Their next court date is pending.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a Tractor Trailer; roll over motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Highway 26 and East River Road, in the Town of Hamden. 30 year-old Nelson Perez-Aybar was hauling a tanker trailer, loaded with liquid sugar, he failed to properly shift down while descending the grade & was unable to come to a stop before entering the intersection, he attempted to turn at a speed of 20 to 30 miles per hour, tractor-trailer than overturned and slid into an earthen embankment. Perez-Aybar was not injured; he was issued several traffic tickets for Town of Hamden Court.
Governor Cuomo announced that the state has adopted regulations implementing New York's landmark Paid Family Leave program. Starting January 1, 2018, Paid Family Leave will provide employees with wage replacement and job protection to help them bond with a child, care for a close relative with a serious health condition, or help relieve family pressures when someone is deployed abroad on active military service. Employees are also entitled to be reinstated to their job when their leave ends and to the continuation of their health insurance during their leave.
The State’s private sector job count increased by 23,900, or 0.3%, in June to over 8,079,000, a new record high, according to preliminary figures released today by the State Department of Labor. Since 2009, New York has added more than 1.1 million private sector jobs and experienced employment growth in 66 of the past 78 months. In June, New York’s statewide unemployment rate increased from 4.4% to 4.5% in June.
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer is calling on the U.S. Department of Agriculture to offer an extended level of crop insurance protection to New York barley farmers. New York State’s brewing and distilling industries are booming, but Schumer said that the Barley farmers should be granted access to the same federal protections that are available to farmers in 11 other states. Schumer's request to the USDA follows a recent success where the USDA agreed with Schumer’s request to extend a more basic level of federal crop insurance to 44 Upstate New York counties.
$14.8 million has been returned to 21,271 victims of wage theft between January and June of 2017, which is on pace to exceed last year's totals of $26.4 million returned to 23,600 workers. These wage recoveries are a result of state efforts to root out worker exploitation, in the Southern Tier, $35,600 was retrieved for 90 workers who were denied pay that they earned.

The State Office of General Services announced a public auction for state-owned property located in Broome County at 362 and 372 Prospect Street in the town of Dickinson. The Auction will be conducted at 11:00 AM this morning, the 2 buildings on the two parcels are being auctioned together as a pair.
