The Dick’s Sporting Goods Open announced that Kelsea Ballerini will be performing at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott on Friday, June 26th next year. Chenango County Health Department reported that a raccoon found along State Highway 80 between Sherburne and Columbus was tested by the Wadsworth Laboratories, and was found to have rabies. Residents and visitors in the area are advised to not pick up or handle any stray or wild animal, If your pet or livestock is behaving strangely contact your veterinarian immediately. State Police & the Broome County Humane Society responded to a residence in the town of Union, to remove animals living in poor conditions. State Police were at the residence on another matter when they discovered deplorable living conditions inside the home. 50 animals which included dogs, cats, guinea pigs and birds were removed from the home, they were surrendered to the Broome County Humane Society. 3 children under the age of 17 were living in the home, their mother, 50 year old Rayelene Lott was charged with 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, The investigation is on-going at this time.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 58 year old Frederick Clarkson of McDonough for Strangulation, Criminal Mischief, Assault and Menacing, following a Domestic Dispute. Clarkson is accused of causing physical injury, menaced the victim with a blunt object, strangled the victim and took the victim’s phone preventing them from calling 911. Clarkson fled the scene prior to Deputies arriving and was later located in the City of Norwich and was taken into custody without incident, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on no bail.

State Police assisted the Susquehanna SPCA with securely removing several animals at properties located on Clark Lane and Pig Farm Lane in the town of New Berlin, after information was developed that the owner of the properties was violating a court order by possessing animals. 3 cows, 1 sheep, 3 dogs and 15 cats were removed and transported to the Susquehanna SPCA. Almost a year ago, over two dozen animals were located deceased and over 100 neglected animals were removed from the same property, 4 people were charged with numerous felonies and misdemeanors from the Agriculture and Markets Law, As a result of court proceedings, the owner of the property was not to own or possess any animals.

On February 27, State Police executed a search warrant at multiple properties on State Highway 80 in the town of Springfield. 8 dogs, 13 cats and A turtle were removed after they were observed to be in need of immediate medical care. They were all turned over to the Susquehanna SPCA. On Tuesday. 64 year old Brian Fleming, and 61 year old Theresa Fleming of Springfield, were both arrested for 11 counts of Torturing or Injuring Animals/Failure to Provide Sustenance and 2 counts of the Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, They are scheduled to appear in the Springfield Town Court on April 3rd.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated an animal abuse case where multiple cats were living in a residence, the owner was advised to get the animals treatment and was provided with contacts for local humane societies and veterinary clinics, she failed to improve the living conditions of about 70 cats, the majority of the animals were voluntarily surrendered to a 3rd party. Deputies were assisted by the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society and the Delhi Veterinary Hospital in Delhi to ensure the proper care of the animals. Deputies discovered that several animals died, they arrested 66 year old Gail Kutler of Walton for 5 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals & 60 counts of animal cruelty. Kutler was taken to the Delaware County Correctional Facility where she was held for arraignment, she is scheduled to appear at a later date in the Town of Walton Court.

State Police arrested 24 Year Old Fiona Taylor of Norwich & 47 year old Lauren McKinley of Norwich in connection with a case of animal neglect in Chenango County last month. On January 22nd, 56 animals were removed from a property on Mudge King Road in the town of North Norwich. During the execution of a search warrant, 30 horses, a pig, 7 sheep, 4 goats, 4 chickens, 7 dogs and 3 cats were in need of immediate care and were transported to various local animal rescue locations, 12 dead animals were observed on the property that included horses, goats, pigs and chickens. Taylor & McKinley have been charged with 16 counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and 65 counts of Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance Both women were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at the North Norwich Town Court on February 26th.
