The United Way of Mid Rural New York has kicked off its fall fundraising campaign, for the 4 counties that they serve. Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco told WCDO news about this year's goal:

This Week is National Fire Prevention Week, and the Norwich Fire Department will have an Open House Wednesday for the public, Norwich Fire Chief Jan Papelino explains:

Chief Papelino said that the week also includes visits by the Fire Department to area schools, Wednesday's Open House will run from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the their 31 East Main Street location, with surrounding fire Departments and law enforcement agencies participating.
A Chenango County grand jury has handed up multiple felony indictments including drug possession and burglary. Valerie Anstey was indicted on 2 counts of 2nd degree burglary and 1 count of falsely reporting an incident, for allegedly entering a Greene residence on August 24th & 25th and filed a false trespass complaint with law enforcement. A Chenango County Grand Jury also indicted Loren Wildenstein Jr. for 3rd degree burglary and petty larceny, for allegedly entering a New Berlin Property on July 8 and for stealing property. The defendants are expected to appear in Chenango County Court for arraignments in the near future.
State Senator Peter Oberacker announced that he is running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District. Currently the District is is represented by Democrat Josh Riley, the seat will be on the November Ballot in 2026.

State Police responded Thursday morning to a motor vehicle crash on State Route 20 in Duanesburg. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 BMW driven by an unidentified 17 year old failed to make a complete stop as it turned left onto Route 20 & collided with a minivan driven by 63 year old Barbara Bryant of Schenevus, who was taken to an area hospital & succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. The driver and 2 passengers in the BMW, and a passenger in the minivan, 36 year old Robert Gaudino of Burlington Flats, were taken to Albany Medical Center. The driver of the BMW, was issued a traffic citation for failing to stop at a stop sign. The investigation remains ongoing.

Mohawk Valley Gives day will be held online on September 19th, to help raise funds for about 80 non-profits in Otsego County, Jeff Katz is the Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Otsego County, whose organization is participating in the event again this year:

One of the organizations that will benefit on the Mohawk Valley Gives event is the Unadilla Community Food Pantry, Elaine Reed is one of the Directors of the organization, she told WCDO that the benefit will go toward filling their pantry & help them hold events like the Resource fair that they held Monday:

Delaware County Business Alliance announced that Todd Pascarella has been named as the organization's new President, replacing Ray Pucci, who has retired. Pascarella has been a Delaware County Chamber & Business Alliance member for many years, and served on the board of directors for 6 years including as the Board chairman, he is also the executive director of the Catskill Revitalization Corporation, which has been recently rebuilding and restarting the Delaware & Ulster Railroad and he was co-founder of Union Grove Distillery in Arkville, and once served as the mayor of the Village of Fleischmanns.
The 1st annual Sidney Brew-to-Brew 5K on Saturday, had 180 participants finish the race and they raised about $3,000 to benefit the Uplift Collective and the Delaware Valley Humane Society. 25 year old Jon Hendley, from Oneonta, was the first male finisher and 30-year-old Lauren Castelucci of Apalachin was the first female finisher, with a time of 20:20.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute recently in the Town of Meredith, it was determined that the physical domestic had occurred in the presence of children where it was alleged that the suspect closed a car door on the victim’s leg with the intent to cause injury. Deputies arrested of 32-year-old Troy Ladlee for 3rd degree Assault, Menacing, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Ladlee was processed and was arraigned and released. Ladlee was directed to appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The Chenango County Historical Society and the Chenango County Historian’s Office will hold another “An America250 Conversation” as they seek input from the people of Chenango County on how local communities will participate in the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The next session is tonight from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus, at 20 Conkey Avenue.
