The National Baseball Hall of Fame Military Classic will be held Saturday, at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Seven Hall of Famers and 25 big league stars will participate in the seven-inning legends game during Memorial Day Weekend festivities that will honor baseball’s longstanding connection to the military. The State DOT & State Police closed I-88 between Exits 10 and 12 in both directions until further notice, A large amount of soil has eroded underneath the roadway, this is not due to a culvert collapse, but to an as yet unknown water issue. Crews from the New York State Department of Transportation are on the scene assessing the issue. Motorists are advised to follow the established detour routes on to State Route 7, Detour signage is in place to guide motorists. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available from the DOT. Motorists are urged to allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution while traveling along detour on State Route 7.

Delaware County Business Alliance announced that Todd Pascarella has been named as the organization's new President, replacing Ray Pucci, who has retired. Pascarella has been a Delaware County Chamber & Business Alliance member for many years, and served on the board of directors for 6 years including as the Board chairman, he is also the executive director of the Catskill Revitalization Corporation, which has been recently rebuilding and restarting the Delaware & Ulster Railroad and he was co-founder of Union Grove Distillery in Arkville, and once served as the mayor of the Village of Fleischmanns.
The 1st annual Sidney Brew-to-Brew 5K on Saturday, had 180 participants finish the race and they raised about $3,000 to benefit the Uplift Collective and the Delaware Valley Humane Society. 25 year old Jon Hendley, from Oneonta, was the first male finisher and 30-year-old Lauren Castelucci of Apalachin was the first female finisher, with a time of 20:20.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute recently in the Town of Meredith, it was determined that the physical domestic had occurred in the presence of children where it was alleged that the suspect closed a car door on the victim’s leg with the intent to cause injury. Deputies arrested of 32-year-old Troy Ladlee for 3rd degree Assault, Menacing, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Ladlee was processed and was arraigned and released. Ladlee was directed to appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Minimum Wage employees across the state will see their paycheck go about for the New Year. New York City employees for large companies will see an increase to $15 dollars an hour; Long Island and Westchester County workers will see the minimum wage set at $12 dollars an hour, the rest of the state will see an increase to $11.10 an hour.

So far this season more than 1,300 people have been hospitalized with the flu.

Koch suffered a head injury and was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton where he was treated and released. A small quantity of milk was spilled as a result of the accident, the DEC Spill Response Team was notified, Koch was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Commercial Vehicle, moving from lane unsafely and criminal possession of a controlled substance, he was arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.

The Johnson City Police Department arrested 26-year-old Tyler DeCamp of Deposit as the 5th person involved in the stabbing of 2 men at a Johnson City McDonalds last week. Decamp was charged with 2 counts of attempted murder, he is accused of stabbing both victims. He was taken into custody in Johnson City Thursday, 4 others were already charged in connection with the incident Monday. Decamp was being held at the Johnson City Police Department pending arraignment.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 36-year-old Dean Martin of Walton, on 1 count each of 3rd degree Assault & Menacing, after an investigation of a domestic incident in the town of Walton Saturday. Martin is accused of threatening an individual with a knife, & causing a physical injury with his fist. Martin was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 bail or $5,000 in bond, pending future court action in the Town of Walton Court.
Governor Cuomo announced that over $3.1 million dollars in wages and interest during the first quarter, has been returned to 1,367 workers by the State Department of Labor. In addition, more than $125,500 in civil penalties have been assessed against employers in violation of prevailing wage law and 14 individuals or business entities have been debarred since the beginning of the year. Locally, 76 Southern Tier area workers were awarded over $168,000 in back wages through this effort.
The Cancer Services Program of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie will offer free health screenings to women 40 or older that are uninsured or underinsured, in partnership with Bassett Healthcare. Norwich Police unveiled 20 new officer body cameras to increase transparency and accountability while improving relationships between law enforcement and the community. Officers began utilizing the body cameras on patrol and in the field earlier this year. The cameras are always on and rolling footage, the officer maintains control over when the camera starts to record and save footage.
