A rally against the proposed CONSTITUTION Pipeline is scheduled in downtown Oneonta later today.  The rally will be in front of Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street in Oneonta at 5:00pm. The rally is in response to the Paradigm Liaison Services meeting inside Foothills for local government and business leaders.


Assemblyman Cliff Crouch will be hosting an informational forum on the NY SAFE Act tonight.  Crouch said that the law did receive a few changes during the budget negotiations:

Crouch will co-host tonight’s forum with Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr., Chenango County Clerk Mary Weidman and SCOPE President Steve Aldstadt, it will begin at 7:00 PM at the Oxford Rod and Gun Club at 214 Ingraham Road, Oxford.  The meeting is open to the public.


The town of Unadilla is hosting a Spring Clean up at the town highway garage on Martin Brook Road, from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM today.  Accepted items include electronics, metal without rubber, white goods, clean waste oil, and tire.  More information is available at 369-5466 or 369-4433.


Motorists are advised that State Route 17 eastbound between exit 71 Airport Road and exit 72 Front Street will be reduced from three travel lanes to one travel lane for pavement work again today.  Traffic will be shifted to the left lane, the work will be performed between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Route 17 will be opened to two lanes of travel.


The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in the Guilford Cafeteria to discuss district business. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:30 PM.

State Assembly minority Republicans are proposing a constitutional amendment that would allow voters the ability to remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before his or her term has expired, Assemblyman Cliff Crouch explains:

The legislation was revived following the continuing string of arrests and indictments of elected officials, 19 other states currently allow recall elections.


The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Robert Bowers of Fenton following an investigation into a fight in the Town of Fenton.  Deputies reported that after the fight was broken up, Bowers returned to his trailer, grabbed a shotgun. & fired one round through his ceiling.  Bowers was charged with 1-Count of  2nd degree Reckless Endangerment & 1 Count of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, he was processed at the Broome County Sheriffs Office and released on two appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Fenton Court at a later date.


State troopers from Sidney  arrested 43-year-old Crezette Harris-Shoulders of Mansfield, Ohio for Improper Log Book. The arrest was the result of a report of a tractor-trailer blocking State Route 206 in Bainbridge, the Investigation revealed the tractor trailer had run out of fuel, State Police assisted with traffic control until the vehicle could be refueled,  Harris-Shoulders was issued a Ticket returnable to the Town of Bainbridge Court on May 13th.

The city of Oneonta will hold their annual Arbor Day ceremony tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM, in the lower level of Wilber Park.  A tree will be planted in memory of Frank  Stevens, who served  on the city’s environmental board.


The City of Oneonta Police Department is attempting to identify a female subject who  allegedly stole a laptop computer from a Min Street business and fled the scene in a silver Toyota sedan.  Anyone with information, can contact the City of Oneonta Police Department at 607-432-1111, option 0. pictures of the suspect are available on the Oneonta police department facebook page.


The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested two persons after finding them trespassing on the property of the Greater Binghamton Health Center in the City of Binghamton. Charged were 34-year-old Yancey Powell of Tampa Florida and 30-Year-old Robert Felton of Johnson city, they are accused of attempting to steal a metal fence in order to sell it for scrap.  Powell & Felton were each charged with trespassing, larceny and conspiracy, they were processed and released on appearance returnable to the City of Binghamton court at a later date.


29-year-old Kevin Buie of Endicott pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter and 2nd degree assault, in connection with a crash that left killed 35-year-old Jonathan Pratt and seriously injured 35-year-old Joseph Dirig in downtown Binghamton last September.  Buie is being held in the Broome County Jail pending sentencing on June 19th.
