Town of Sidney Board member Kevin Greene and Engineer Darius Palmer are exploring a plan to possibly turn part of the former Acco complex into an aviation college. A meeting was held Friday with local lawmakers, Economic Development experts & SUNY Delhi representatives to see if these plans could come to fruition, according to Kevin Greene:

Greene said that Palmer approached him with this idea after returning to Sidney after College, which called for aviation industry classes & training at the former Acco Building, which is right next to the Sidney Airport.

Otsego County Area Candidates for public office will participate in a debate this evening at the Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street in Oneonta. Candidates for Oneonta Mayor, Oneonta 7th Ward Common Council, Town of Oneonta Supervisor, & County Representatives for the 4th & 13th District will participate, starting at 6:00 PM.

The Sidney American Legion announced that they will hold their annual Halloween Kids Party on Friday October 31st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. There will be snacks, a costume contest & games for the kids.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 20th, to a 2 car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sidney, in which one driver had reportedly left the scene. With the assistance of the Village of Sidney Police Department, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Joshua Crisell of Sidney, and the vehicle was located at a residence in Sidney. Deputies charged Crisell with Reckless Driving, driving to left of pavement markings, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Crisell was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Sidney Town Court at a later date.

Village of Sidney announced that due to a tie on the voting last month for the Village Board of Trustees, a special election will beheld today to break the tie between Patricia Cristelli & Luther Higley, who each had 44 votes. A Runoff Election will be held Today in the 1st floor Board room at the Civic Center at 21 Liberty Street from 12pm – 9pm.

The Village of Sidney announced that there will be a Public Hearing on the Tentative Budgets for General, Water and Sewer Funds for the Village of Sidney on Monday, April 14 at 7:00 PM. Sidney Mayor Ray Baker told WCDO News about this year's proposed budget:

Village of Sidney announced the results of Tuesday's Village election for the Board of Trustees. Victor Tartaglia won one term with 65 votes, while Patricia Cristelli & Luther Higley each had 44 votes. Due to the tied votes for the 2nd Trustee Term there will be a Runoff Election held on Tuesday April 1st, in the Board room at the Civic Center at 21 Liberty Street from 12pm - 9pm. The Village of Unadilla announced that Kaleigh Barber & Crystal Lee Dimeo Johnson won seats on the Village board Tuesday.

State Police at Troop C in Sidney announced that 9 people were arrested for DWI or related charges over the Superbowl Weekend initiative. In New York State slightly more than 30% of the fatal crashes are alcohol related. In New York State, a driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle may be considered legally impaired if their BAC exceeds 0.05% & there are legally intoxicated if their BAC is 0.08% or greater. In a recent study, 16% of weekend nighttime drivers tested positive for illicit drugs.
