The Tri-County Seniors is partnering with Delaware Opportunities to collect gift items for senior citizens in need this holiday season. The collections began this week & will run through Monday, November 28, with collection boxes at the Tri-County Senior Center in the Sidney Civic Center, Conklin Fashions in Bainbridge, Sidney Memorial Public Library and Trackside Dining in Sidney, and Jess F. Howes Building Supplies in Sidney Center. Suggested items to donate include calendars, stamps, scarves, gloves, books, crosswords, socks, toiletries, flashlights, small blankets, and gift cards, the items will be distributed to seniors through the Delaware Opportunities home meal delivery program.
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive today in Delhi from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, at the State University Farrell Student & Community Center, at 2 Main Street. Appointments can be scheduled by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS

Binghamton's annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally will return to August this year in Otsiningo Park. State Police updated information on Wednesday's head-on collision involving an SUV and a Trailways bus on State Highway 23 in the town of Davenport. The only occupant of the SUV, was 65-year-old Diane Bevins of Stamford, she was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the bus, 44-year-old Joanna Reedman of Astoria, and a passenger, 59-year-old Aris Vavasis of Hartwick were transported to Bassett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, 3 other passengers were not injured, the investigation is on-going.

Delaware County Public Health will be conducting a Car Seat Event today at the Sidney Head Start at the Civic Center. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand from 12:00 to 2:00 PM to check car seats and give instruction to parents and caregivers on proper car seat installation and use. Sidney Police Department arrested a Springfield Center woman for several charges during a traffic stop, after an officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The officer attempted a traffic stop, before the officer could exit the vehicle, the suspect took off. The officer pursued the vehicle onto I-88, the suspect stopped, put the vehicle in reverse and backed into the officer's vehicle, & left again. A 2nd officer joined the pursuit, & eventually, police arrested 19 year old Isabella Lepetich, who was charged with Driving while ability impaired by drugs, Operating without inspection, Illegal signal from parked position & Failure to obey a police officer. Lepetich was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court & was released & was ordered to appear in court at a later date. The investigation is still on going and more charges are expected to be filed.
The Resilient Sidney Open House drew about 35 to 40 village residents to the Civic Center yesterday for a look at prospective projects for Areas of Keith Clark Park & where Housing was taken down from flood damage. Sidney Village Mayor Andy Matviak told WCDO News what is next:

Today & tomorrow, Sidney Central School District Alumni will join retiring band director Gregg Norris on stage for 2 evenings of music. Both concerts begin at 7:00 pm in the Sidney High School Auditorium and are free and open to the public. Tonight's concert will highlight the regionally known jazz program, Saturday evening will feature the Concert Band program. Sidney Alumni from as far back as 1973 are scheduled to participate.
The Annual Dedication will be held tomorrow morning for the Sidney Veteran's Memorial Park, will be held at the Sidney Elks Lodge at 11:00 AM, it was moved due to expected inclement weather. Organizer Tom Ruff is also organizing a Golf Fundraiser on June 11th at the Sidney Golf Club, to help fund future improvements and upgrades to the Memorial Park, more details are available by calling Ruff at 518-256-7899.
