Springbrook will receive $5 million from Tom Golisano as part of a $360 million donation to over 80 nonprofit organizations. In 2010, Golisano provided funds to establish the Golisano School, which expanded services for children with autism. In 2012, the organization completed the $22.5 million Coming Home Campaign, opening the Tom Golisano Center for Autism, a state-of-the-art facility offering specialized care and support for people with autism.

23 year old Nalya Jimenez of Sidney pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court Tuesday to 1 count of Welfare Fraud, she was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge. Jimenez admitted to providing false information while applying for SNAP, she failed to report recurring income from several sources - including a full-time position that would have rendered her ineligible to receive the benefits. Jimenez improperly received $5,679 in public benefits, she has agreed to pay the entirety of $5,679 in 30 days of sentence. If she fails to pay, she could face a year in jail.

The City of Oneonta Fire and Police Departments are currently investigating a fire that occurred at 47 Chestnut Street Thursday afternoon. Emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 1:03 PM, finding smoke showing from a second story window above the Oneonta Theatre. A single fatality has been reported and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Oneonta Fire and Police Departments were assisted by the West Oneonta, Otego, Franklin, Sidney, Cooperstown, and Worcester Fire Departments; the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Shortly afterwards, she was arrested and then released on her own recognizance while the case was pending. Separately, a felony complaint was filed against Ms. Kingsbury alleging the sale of illegal narcotics in the Town of Davenport on May 21, 2024.

Village of Sidney officials announced that starting on September 1st, there will be an added "Manganese Removal Capital Project Debt Service" fee of $34.35 per quarter on your water bill. Kingsbury was indicted by the Delaware County Grand Jury on March 7, for possessing several stolen guns. On July 29, Kingsbury appeared in Delaware County Court for a conference on his pending indictment. After the conference, he pleaded guilty, he admitted that he possessing a stolen shotgun in Sidney in July of 2023.

State Police arrested 35 year old Spencer Gransbury of Walton for 5 counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. An investigation revealed that Gransbury was in possession of images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest follows an investigation stemming from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. On August 2, a search warrant was executed at Gransbury’s residence, he was arrested and processed & was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for Central Arraignment.

Nyseg reported that about 3600 customers were still without power this afternoon, following last night's thunderstorms that downed trees & power-lines across the state. Crews are working to get power back on before another round of potentially destructive thunderstorms again tonight.
State Police arrested 44 year old Erica Miller of Unadilla Saturday night, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers were dispatched to the Speedway at State Routes 7 and 8 for a report of a female passed out inside a vehicle while at the pumps. Troopers then observed the same vehicle traveling erratically on State Highway 7, Troopers conducted a traffic stop & after performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Miller was arrested & was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Unadilla Town Court on August 20th.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a forcible touching complaint last month, their Preliminary investigation revealed that 63-year-old Michael Kudrewicz of Delhi allegedly forcibly touched another person, on July 10th, Investigators with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kudrewicz for 1 count of Forcible Touching, An Order of Protection was also issued by the court, prohibiting Kudrewicz from having any contact with the victim. Kudrewicz was later released & he will reappear at the Town of Delhi Court at a later date to answer the charge.
State tax receipts totaled $29.9 billion through the 1st quarter of the current State Fiscal Year, which is 594 million higher than Budget Department estimates according to the the State Comptroller's office. Sales tax receipts increased by 0.4%, in the month of June over last year. The State’s General Fund ended June with a balance of $49.6 billion, $2.1 billion higher than projected & $5.4 billion higher than last year, due to higher than anticipated tax collections and lower than anticipated spending.

On Sunday night, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one car motor vehicle accident with entrapment on State Highway 357, in the town of Sidney. Deputies arrived on scene and observed that the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to rollover, then coming to rest off of the roadway. Deputies made contact with the driver, 65-year-old Lawrence Peloso of Mount Upton. Deputies charged Peloso with DWI, driving with a BAC greater than 0.08%, Moving from lane unsafely, and Speed not Reasonable and Prudent, Peloso was released on tickets returnable to the Town of Sidney Court at a later date.
