Attorney General Letitia James today secured an agreement with one of the nation's largest insulin manufacturers, Novo Nordisk, to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for five years. The agreement also requires Novo Nordisk to implement a program with pharmacies to let uninsured patients know before they pay that they are eligible for the insulin cap. Today's agreement follows earlier agreements with two other large insulin makers, Eli Lilly and Sanofi, to cap insulin prices at $35 a month for uninsured New Yorkers.
NYSEG officials reported that many customers were still without power this afternoon around the tri-county region, following last night's powerful thunderstorms. NYSEG Reported about 1200 without power in Broome county, about 600 in Otsego County, 120 in Chenango County & about 25 in Delaware County, as crews continue to restore power in areas that had downed trees & power lines.
After hundreds of calls to the Oneonta Police Department to respond to various Issues at the Town House Inn on Main Street in Oneonta, City officials have decided to try to shut the motel down, Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek told WCDO news what they are doing:

In recent weeks, Oneonta Police have responded to a shots fired complaint, there was also a fatal overdose there recently, among the 400 incidents reported at the Town House Inn. Mayor Drnek said that the Oneonta Police Department, like many others, is short staffed and can't spend many hours a week responding to the same location repeatedly.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 13th, to a report of vandalism in the Town of Kortright. It was reported that someone had driven a bulldozer on West Kortright Church Road causing extensive damage to the roadway, on September 4th, Deputies arrested Robert Sargent for Criminal Mischief, he was released on an appearance ticket, for the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.
The Community Foundation for South Central New York announced that the Chobani Community Impact Fund Grant Proposal Guidelines are available online. Foundation Executive Director Tina Barber explains:

Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 32 year old Nicholas Durbin formerly of Deposit, appeared for arraignment on a 4-count indictment in Delaware County Court. Durbin is charged with Sexual Abuse & Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, for allegedly sexually abusing a 4-year-old child on 4 separate occasions, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, and he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $50,000.00 cash bail.
The 29th annual Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival will occur this Saturday and Sunday, in East and West Parks, downtown Norwich, spokesperson Celeste Friend comments:

The New York Hot Farm Pulling Series tractor and truck pull has been rescheduled for Saturday at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich. The initial pull date was scheduled for July 4 but was canceled due to weather. Gates open at 4 pm. with tractor pulls starting at 6:30 pm. Admission is $10 and previously purchased tickets will be honored. In memory of 911, all first responders will be granted free admission with valid identification.
Hospice of Chenango County will hold a fundraising Chicken Barbecue Sunday in Norwich, to raise money for their programs. Hospice Spokesperson Sarah Greene told WCDO News about some of the programs that the money from such fundraisers helps:

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced that they have located Dalton Lannon in Kirkwood. Lannon was wanted on an outstanding warrant for violating his probation for criminal mischief, the Sheriff's Office received many tips from the public after announcing that they were looking for Lannon on Wednesday.

Argo said that Basset operates the largest school based health network in New York State with 21 schools in 17 area districts participating in the program.
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Friends of the Upper Delaware River, and the Upper Delaware River Tailwaters Coalition will hold a public information meeting to discuss the 2023 Delaware Aqueduct shutdown. DEP officials will be discussing the details of the upcoming shutdown and repair project and how it will impact the management of the Delaware River basin reservoirs and the Upper Delaware River. The Meeting will be held on April 11th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hancock Town Hall, 661 West Main Street, Hancock, a Zoom Link can also be obtained from one of the organizing agencies.
The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced that 39 year old Richard Lance of Kirkwood, was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in State prison after entering a plea of guilty to Failure to Comply with the New York State Sex Offender Registration Act. During August of 2022, Lance reported to law enforcement that he was residing at an address in the Village of Johnson City, while he was actually residing at the Dell Motel on Upper Court Street. Lance was convicted of a 3rd degree Rape in 2008 in Broome County.
The Jericho Arts Council will bring back David Davis & The Warrior River Boys this Saturday night at the Bainbridge Town Hall Theater, spokesman Phil Wade explains:

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 24 year old Patrick Combs of Grand Gorge pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, in Delaware County Court. Combs stole over $3,000.00 from the Roxbury Country Store, also, on January 15th, he operated a motor vehicle on State Highway 30, while impaired by drugs. Combs will be sentenced to 1-3 years in state prison for his conviction of Grand Larceny & 364 days in jail for driving while his ability was impaired by drugs, the sentences will run concurrently.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Rex Jordan for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, DWI, Unlawful Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & Numerous other Vehicle and Traffic violations. An Otsego County Sheriff’s deputy and State Parks Police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on State Highway 205, Jordan failed to comply and became involved in a 1 car motor vehicle accident, he was taken to Bassett Hospital. Police discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out Oneonta. Jordan was discharged from Bassett before charges were filed, A warrant was issued & he was located by the Oneonta City Police Department who arrested him on unrelated charges. Jordan was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility, Additional charges are pending.

Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputies stopped the vehicle a short time later and found it to have switched plates and no insurance, Lynch was also found to possess crack cocaine and MDMA. Lynch was released on an appearance ticket & is set to appear in the Town of Morris Court at a later date.
The Chenango County Department of Public Health is offering a free rabies clinic for Chenango County pet owners on Saturday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Guilford Highway Department, located at 223 Marble Road in Guilford. The clinic is for Dogs Cats & Domesticated Ferrets.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be performing at the Forum in Binghamton on Friday, May 5th with shows at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Tickets will go on sale on today at ticketmaster.com or at the Broome County Arena Box Office.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 31 year old Courtni Baker of Sidney was arraigned today on Grand Jury Charges in Delaware County Court . A Grand Jury handed up a 10 count indictment, including charges of vehicular assault, Aggravated vehicular assault, 2nd degree Assault, And Escape, for the February 15th incident where Baker is accused of Hitting 14 year old Anielle AK McEwan Lomnicki on Sharon Street in Sidney as she was walking home from school. Baker is accused of driving while intoxicated at the time of the incident, with a BAC of higher than .18, she is being held in the Delaware County Jail on $100,000 cash bail, $250,000 secured bond or $1 Million Dollars Partially Secured bond.
35-year-old Bruice Jeffrey of North Norwich was arrested by Chenango County Sheriff's Deputies Sunday after allegedly stealing more than $130,000 from an elderly person. The arrest followed an investigation into Jeffrey started by a claim from the Chenango County Social Services Department, he is accused of stealing from an elderly person's account for 7 years. Jeffrey was charged with 3 counts of grand larceny and petty larceny, he was released with an appearance ticket and is due back in court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested Timothy Taylor of Franklin for Endangering Welfare of a Child and Sexual Misconduct Taylor is accused of performing sexual acts with a 15 year old female in the Town of Hancock. Taylor was processed and issued an appearance ticket to appear before the Hancock Town Court at a later date.
Lisa Driscoll of Harpersfield has joined the Delaware County Board of Supervisors. Driscoll replaces long time Supervisor James Eisel , who retired recently due to health issues.
Governor Hochul announced that approximately $110 million was awarded to 86 projects through 2 grant programs to improve water quality across the state. Locally, Town of Chenango will get $10 Million for a new treatment technology at its Northgate facility to help meet State standards and improve water quality by reducing the amount of phosphorus entering the Chenango River and the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Over 5200 complaints were received regarding price gouging defective merchandise & poor customer service at retail establishments, over 3,000 were landlord or tenants complaints. over 2800 were about credit, banking & mortgage issues, over 2700 complaints were about consumer services organizations like COVID testing facilities, dry cleaners, restaurants or movers, and over 2500 for automobile sales & service.

The Broome County District Attorney's office announced that 53 year old Robert Randolph of Endicott was sentenced after pleading guilty to felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance. Randolph was caught with large quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl when police raided his motel room in Endicott in August of 2021, he was on parole from a previous conviction for selling methamphetamine. Randolph was sentenced to 5 years in state prison followed by 2 years of post-release supervision.
59-year-old Norman O’Neil of Endwell died Friday after he fell through the ice when he and 1 other man were ice fishing in Tioga County. Tioga County Sheriff's Office and area EMT's & Firefighters responded, The sheriff’s office reported that the other man fell through the ice but pulled himself out but was unable to save O'Neill, First responders pulled O’Neil out, he was not responsive attempts to resuscitate O’Neil, he died from the injuries he sustained. The unidentified companion was taken to an area hospital & was treated and released.
Commerce Chenango announced that they are looking for nominations for their Board of Directors. Tioga County Sheriff's Office and area EMT's & Firefighters responded, The sheriff’s office reported that the other man fell through the ice but pulled himself out but was unable to save O'Neill, First responders pulled O’Neil out, he was not responsive attempts to resuscitate O’Neil, he died from the injuries he sustained. The unidentified companion was taken to an area hospital & was treated and released.

The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Units are participating in a national effort to call attention to human trafficking. Members are educating Commercial Drivers about human trafficking, and providing a card that contains the number for the National Human Trafficking Hot-line, which is 888-373-7888.
Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded last Tuesday to a domestic incident at the Knights Inn in the Town of Union and arrested 60 year old Samuel Stukes of Endicott. Stukes was in violation of an order of protection and was wanted by the Binghamton Police Department. Deputies heard a disturbance coming from the rear of the motel building at the same address, 43 year old Keith Johnson of Endicott was found engaging in a physical fight a 15-year-old child, he resisted arrest, tried to fight with deputies and was tased and subdued. Johnson was charged with 5 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, & 1 count each of Obstruction, Resisting Arrest & Harassment. Both Stukes and Johnson were taken into custody.
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce is holding a Legislative Leadership Forum with area lawmakers, on Wednesday April 12th at the Old Schoolhouse Inn & Restaurant in Downsville. The event will begin at 9:00 AM, Chamber members can register at delawarecounty.org/events.
The Getthere Mobility Program is looking for Volunteer Drivers in Delaware County. Drivers will bring County Residents to Appointments, Shopping, Drivers are reimbursed at 62.5 cents a mile as well as $100 for training. More information is available at gettherescny.org, or by calling 833-373-4040. Getthere is a program of the Rural Health Network of South Central New York.
State Police are searching for 58 year old Jan Dager of Salisbury in Herkimer County. Dager has been missing since January 10th, he was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a black T-shirt, with no jacket, he is 5'8" & about 225 pounds with white hair, he left in an unknown direction, he did not have a cell phone with him. Anyone with information should call 315-366-6000.

The City of Oneonta Police Department is investigating the discovery of a deceased individual in Neahwa Park Saturday. No other details have been released, pending the results of an autopsy.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced her plans to seek re-election to another 6 year term in the U.S. Senate. Gillibrand has served in the Senate since 2009, prior to that she served in the House of Representatives serving much of the WCDO listening area.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive is being held in Oneonta today at the Quality Inn on State Route 23. The Blood Drive runs from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, Appointments can be made with the Red Cross App, calling 1-800 RED CROSS or going online to redcrossblood.org.
