The Delaware County Family Court Judge candidates are Porter Kirkwood & Gary Rosa, the 4 candidates for 2 Sidney town board seat include incumbent Bill Heath, plus Eric Wilson, Jeannette Hinckley & Loddie Marsh.
The "Camp Hope" Launch Party will be held Sunday, at the Unadilla Community Field Behind the Library from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. The organization is looking to raise money for a dog training facility to be built in Sidney, to give Post Traumatic Stress Disorder service dogs to veterans free of charge. Sundays’; event will feature a live dog demonstration, raffles, food provided by the Unadilla House and entertainment by the band Sundown. Governor Cuomo today announced that more than 132,000 available jobs are now listed on New York State's Jobs Express website. Jobs Express sorts thousands of jobs by region and occupation, and allows users to search jobs based on zip code and travel distance. In the Southern Tier, there are over 4,700 jobs listed currently.
Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills reminds residents to be aware of a number of IRS scams that have been reported recently. The scams try to trick taxpayers into providing personal and financial information & may involve intimidation tactics to coerce victims into making false tax payments that are collected by the scammer. Sheriff Mills said that you should not share any personal or financial information with these callers, & that the IRS will never make such calls to private citizens. Those with questions can contact the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040, you can report scams to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1-800-366-4484, or the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov.
On Thursday, a Chenango County resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for falsely reporting an incident. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14 year old juvenile following an investigation into a bomb threat at the BOCES in North Norwich. The juvenile wrote a bomb threat on the wall of the school knowing that there was no bomb in the school, he was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.
A Benefit for the Tri Town Relay for Life will be held Saturday Night from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Sidney Elks Lodge on River Street. Noted area singers will perform oldies music, refreshments are available, and tickets will be available at the Elks Club door.

A 4th Cal Harris Murder trial has been scheduled to begin March 2nd 2016 in Schoharie County court. Harris was convicted wife in Tioga County Court for the murder of his estranged wife Michelle on or around September 11th 2001. A trial in Schoharie county court earlier this year ended with the jury unable to come to verdict. Prosecutors have until October 5th to file motions regarding a bid by the defense for dismissal.
Delaware County Deputies stopped 22-year-old Mark Frederick Tuesday night; Deputies stopped him for driving 107 miles per hour on State Highway 17 in the Town of Hancock. Frederick was ticketed for speeding, reckless driving, failure to comply, consumption of alcohol in a vehicle and a number of other violations. Frederick was arraigned in the Town of Hancock Court and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1500 cash bail pending further court action.
The "Glow with the Flow" benefit walk/run will be held at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge on the evening of September 26th, to benefit Ken Long, a Binghamton area man suffering from cancer & facing huge expenses. Heather Bucalos is a Bainbridge native & is in remission from cancer herself, she is putting on this event:

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested 26-year-old Dustin Sundal of Unadilla on 1 count of Reckless Driving. It is alleged that Sundal drove his motorcycle in a reckless manner, which resulted in a personal injury motorcycle accident, he will return to Town of Tompkins court at a later date.
Governor Cuomo issued a warning to college students returning for the fall semester that purchasing fake IDs is not only illegal, but also increases the chances of becoming a victim of identify fraud. Investigators from the State DMV have found dozens of examples of underage license holders becoming victims of identity theft after purchasing fraudulent identification online from overseas companies. According to the Federal Trade Commission, 18% of identity theft victims were ages 20 to 29; about 6% were 19 years old or younger, these age groups are less likely to regularly track bank account and credit card activity, pay for identity theft monitoring services, and use discretion when sharing information on social media. Nearly 16,000 identity theft complaints were logged last year in New York State.

Oneonta Police Department arrested 18-year-old Ryan Rosario of the Bronx for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. The charges stem from an investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in July of 2014, Rosario is currently being held in the Greene Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.
State Police arrested 56-year-old George Miner of Port Crane, for Sexual Abuse & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. State Troopers received a report of child abuse from the Broome County Child Protective Services, Miner is accused of subjecting a girl less than 14 years old to sexual contact, he will answer to the charges in Town of Fenton Court on May 28th.
The state Assembly passed a bill this week to try to get young adults into continuing the state's farming tradition, local Assemblyman Bill Magee Chairs the Assembly Agriculture committee:

The Attorney General offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, have filed a lawsuit against 4 phony cancer charities. The lawsuit alleges that the Cancer Fund of America, Children’s Cancer Fund of America, Cancer Support Services, and The Breast Cancer Society scammed more than $187 million from unsuspecting donors, including $3 million from New Yorkers since 2008. The Children’s Cancer Fund of America and The Breast Cancer Society have entered into settlements, Litigation is proceeding against the remaining defendants. The proposed settlement include judgments of $137 million and require that 2 of the charities be prohibited from working as not-for-profits.
Governor Cuomo announced new initiatives to streamline regulatory burdens placed on the state’s farmers. The Strategic Interagency Task Force on Lessening Obstacles to Agriculture suggested an Easier Pesticide Registration Process, Faster Recertification Process for Pesticide Applicators & Simplifying Categories for Pesticide Applicators. The changes are expected to be placed into effect in the coming weeks.
The State DEC is now accepting public comments through June 29 on 3 regulatory proposals for hunting and trapping of wild turkey, deer and fisher. The changes cover fall turkey hunting seasons in most areas of the state; modifications of antlerless deer hunting seasons in portions of the state, changes to the Deer Management Assistance Program procedures statewide & reduction of the current fisher trapping seasons in northern New York. regulation changes could be in effect this fall Pending review of the public comments, More information is available at dec.ny.gov.

The legislation would establish a statewide violent felony offender registry, which would require offenders to register with the State Department of Criminal Justice Services upon release from prison. Seward said that the bill has never advanced out of committee to the floor of the assembly for consideration.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has agreed to resign, he will officially give up his position as speaker to Majority Leader Joseph Morelle. Last Thursday, Silver was arrested by the FBI for allegedly accepting $4 million in payoffs and kickbacks.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that his office has been alerted to a scam involving an individual posing as Sam Wilson from the Attorney General’s Office. Consumers should not return this call to the number provided and should be aware that the Attorney General’s Office would never notify any individual or business about pending litigation in a telephone call. Individuals should contact the Federal Trade Commission at (877) FTC-HELP or ftc.gov, or contact the Attorney General’s Office at (800) 771-7755 or ag.ny.gov.
