Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged 41
year old Wade Johnson of Davenport, Wednesday for making an unsafe lane change,
leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle, and driving while
intoxicated, following a report of a vehicle into a utility pole on Charlotte
Creek Road in the Town of Davenport. Deputies say Johnson fled the scene of the
accident after the collision and was later apprehended at an address in the

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 31-year-old
Joseph Clark of Franklin, New York on a bench warrant issued by the Town of
Franklin Court for failure to pay fines on a previous charge of Disorderly
Conduct, stemming from an incident in the Town of Franklin earlier in
2018. Clark was arraigned in the Town of
Delhi Court and released on his own recognizance. Clark is scheduled to return to the Town of
Franklin Court at a later date.

Firefighters from a dozen area companies responded to a blaze on Porter Hollow Road in Port Crane at about 8:00 PM Sunday. Firefighters were on the scene for about 4 ½ hours, No injuries were reported , and the unidentified family of 4 were left homeless.
Sheriff Cutting reports on December 6th, 2018 the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested an inmate for assaulting a Corrections Officer. Members of the Detectives Division arrested Michael J. Perry, age 42 who was incarcerated on a separate charge. It is alleged that Perry assaulted a Corrections Officer in an attempt to get to another inmate within the facility. Perry was processed for Assault in the Second Degree and arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court. He was remanded back to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.
Firefighters from Franklin, Oneonta, West Oneonta, Otego, Sidney, SIdney Center, Treadwell & Wells Bridge responded early this morning to a fire at 161 HODGE ROAD in the town of Franklin. The fire was called in at about 12:10 AM; The home was destroyed in the blaze, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lee Smith and Harold Baines have been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Today’s Game Era Committee, it was announced today on MLB Network. The Today’s Game Era Committee considered a ballot of six former players, 3 former managers and 1 former executive whose contributions to the game were most significant from 1988 through the present. The Today’s Game Era Committee held meetings today in Las Vegas, site of Baseball’s Winter Meetings. Smith and Baines will be joined in the Hall of Fame Class of 2019 by any electees who emerge from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America voting, which will be announced on Tuesday, January 22nd.
Retiring State Senator John Bonacic announced that he will be closing his Delhi Office on Friday December 21st. anyone needing to contact Senator Bonacic can call the Middletown Office at 845-344-3311 until the end of the year. Bonacic decided to retire this year after serving for decades in both the State Assembly & State Senate.
State Police arrested 30 year old Dustin Freeman of Morris after he allegedly threatened a victim with a knife and sexually assaulted the victim in the New Berlin area. Freeman was charged with 1st degree Rape, Criminal Sexual Act and Unlawful Imprisonment, after Troopers located Freeman in the city of Rome, where he fled on foot. He was taken into custody & was transported to Norwich where he was processed and later arraigned in the town of Norwich Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail without bail. An order of protection was also issued by the judge to the victim. The investigation is still on-going.
A Town of Norwich resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment. Deputies arrested 61 year old Larry Conant after an incident that occurred on a Norwich Central School bus in the town of Guilford. Conant, was a school bus aid, he allegedly used unnecessary force on a 7 year old child. Conant was released on an appearance ticket for a later date.
A Town of Norwich resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Criminal Contempt. Deputies arrested 20 year old Jeremy Thomas After responding to a complaint at a business in the Town of Norwich it was found that Thomas violated an order of protection. Thomas was processed and released on an appearance ticket. Thomas is to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

Luis Rojas will join the New York Mets Major League coaching staff for the 2019 season, filling the new position of Quality Control Coach. Rojas served as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies manager for two seasons, The Mets have yet to name a replacement for Rojas in Binghamton. The Rumble Ponies will start their 2019 home schedule at NYSEG Stadium on April 11, 2019 against the Erie Sea Wolves.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 24 year old Kyle Gardner of Franklin for DWI, & Driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, following a 1-car accident in the Town of Franklin, where the vehicle was found to have travelled over an embankment. Gardner was subsequently released on an appearance ticket and scheduled to appear before the Town of Franklin Court at a later date.
The Oneonta Common Council will hold a special meeting today, regarding the budget for the next fiscal year. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM at the Common Council Chambers at City hall.

State Police Responded to an apparent Murder Suicide in the town of Stamford Tuesday, after 57 year old Christopher German of South Kortright failed to show up for work in Cooperstown. Troop C BCI Captain Scott Heggelke Explains:

Captain Heggelke said that the incident occurred after 9:00 PM Monday; The Delaware County Coroner's Office ordered the bodies removed for autopsies, which were being performed at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton this afternoon, the official cause and approximate time of death is expected to be in the final Autopsy report, which may be released later today.

The Trial for Ernest Franklin of Guilford has been delayed again, until early next year. Franklin & his wife Heather are accused of killing their developmentally disabled son & setting fire to their house to cover up the murder in the town of Guilford in March of 2017. Ernest Franklin is being held without bail pending the start of his trial; Heather Franklin was released on bail.
State Police arrested 25 year old Taylor Nelson of Afton for 2 counts of Criminal LOUDESPossession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drugs, & Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Troopers were dispatched to the Sunoco on County Route 39 in the town of Bainbridge to check the welfare of a male slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle. Troopers determined that Nelson was impaired and was in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and items used to measure drug quantity. Nelson was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on no bail.
State Police arrested 51 year old Marianne Stanislawski of Chenango for Grand Larceny, for allegedly taking advantage of a 75-year-old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s. An investigation revealed that Stanislawski knew the victim for several years; she would visit him weekly at his residence and help him run errands. The investigation further revealed that Stanislawski was making cash withdrawals that the victim did not approve of. Stanislawski was arrested and arraigned in the town of Oxford Court and released on her own recognizance and is to appear in court at a later date. An order of protection was issued by the judge protecting the victim.
The results are in from the State Board of Elections in the U.S. Senate seat, Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand by a 2 to 1 margin over Republican Chele Farley, in local Congressional races, in the 19th District, Democrat Antonio Delgado defeats incumbent John Faso by about 3%. In the 22nd District: Democrat Anthony Brindisi defeats incumbent Claudia Tenney. In State Office races, Incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo defeated all challengers to win a 3rd term as Governor, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli easily defeats all challengers for another term., and the new Attorney General will be Democrat Letitia James. In the race for the 6th District State Supreme Court seat, Republican Joe McBride wins. In area State Senate races, in the 42nd district, Democrat Jennifer Metzger wins over Republican Ann Rabbitt for the seat previously held by the retiring John Bonacic, in the 51st district, Republican Incumbent Jim Seward wins re-election for a 17th term, in the 52nd district , Incumbent Republican Fred Akshar was unopposed. In local State Assembly Races, in the 121 District: Republican John Salka defeats longtime incumbent Bill Magee, in the 122 District: Incumbent Cliff Crouch easily defeats Conservative Nicholas Libous, in the 123rd District: Democratic incumbent Donna Lupardo was unopposed & in the 102nd District: Democrat Aidan O’Conner wins by a slim margin over incumbent Republican Christopher Tague. Rich Devlin is re-elected as Otsego County Sheriff & David Harder is re-elected as Broome County Sheriff.

An investigation revealed that Klinegardner was working as a home health aide for the deceased victim; she was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the town of Tompkins Court on December 6th.

State Police arrested 23 year old Moshe Rabinovitz of Brooklyn for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, after Troopers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle where Rabinovitz was a passenger, after the vehicle was observed speeding on State Route 17 in Hancock. Troopers located amphetamine salts in Rabinovitz’s possession; he was arrested and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Hancock Court on September 23rd.
State Police arrested 21 year old Dylon Wall of Davenport for the Criminal Mischief, False Personation and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, after a trooper was dispatched to the Walmart in Oneonta after a complainant reported that Wall smashed her front windshield. After an investigation, Wall is accused of intentionally damaging her property, he was located at his residence, he was also found to have marijuana in his possession & he allegedly gave troopers a false name. Wall was arraigned in the town of Oneonta Court and is scheduled to reappear in court on September 20th; he was turned to State Police in Norwich from open warrants in Chenango County.
State Troopers arrested 4 people after a vehicle was stopped for traffic violations on County Route 41 in Afton. After an investigation, the driver, 25 year old Priyank Raj of New Haven, CT was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and several traffic violations. 3 passengers, 31 year old Michael Bueno of Cliffside Park, New Jersey 26 year old Watchaiapon Chiamsatchamongkho, of Massachusetts & 19 year old Jahennye Fortado of New York City were all arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, for allegedly possessing marijuana and MDMA. All 4 were arraigned in the town of Afton Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 cash or $7,000 bond, pending court action on August 27th, in the town of Afton Court.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one car, roll-over, accident in the Town of Hamden Friday afternoon that resulted in 18 year old Lilliana Bevilacqua of Franklin, sustaining minor injuries. Bevilacqua was driving on Covert Hollow Road when she lost control on a curve due to excessive speed, her car entered a ditch, struck a tree and overturned several times. Bevilacqua exited her vehicle, she was transported to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi for treatment of an arm injury. Deputies issued Bevilacqua traffic summonses for speed not reasonable and imprudent, failure to keep right, and making an unsafe lane change and directed her to appear in the Hamden Town Court on a later date to answer those charges.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 47 year old Timothy Smith of Walton for 1 count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Unlicensed Operator, following a traffic stop. Deputies discovered that Smith’s Driver’s License had been suspended, he was released on an appearance ticket and scheduled to appear before the Town of Walton Court at a later date.
The Oneonta Parks & Recreation committee wwill hold their next regular meeting this evening. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM at the Common Council Chambers at City Hall, and is open to the public.

State Police arrested 37 year old Matthew Millard of Endicott for DWI with a reported B.A.C .22%. A trooper on patrol responded to a 911 complaint of a tractor trailer driving erratically on I-88, the trooper observed the tractor trailer travel into the shoulder several times. Millard was arrested for DWI & was released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Oneonta Court on August 7th.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Friday to a report of a 1-car motor vehicle accident on Richardson Hill Road in the Town of Masonville. Deputies found the driver, 20 year old Holden Smith of Sidney Center lying on the shoulder of the roadway with an apparent broken leg. Smith’s car was found over the embankment at that location and was found to have impacted a tree head on. Further investigation revealed that Smith was driving to Sidney Center from the Ithaca area at the time of the accident, and that Smith had consumed prescription medications prior to the accident. Smith was later transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment of the injuries sustained from the collision.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 34 year old Patricia Ware of Sharon Springs for Petty Larceny; she is accused of taking various items from a home that she is a caretaker for in the Town of Franklin. Ware was arraigned at the Town of Hamden Court & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $3000 cash bail or $6000 bond. She was scheduled to appear before the Town of Franklin Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 24 year old James Joyce of Colesville for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle & Reckless Endangerment, plus more than a dozen traffic tickets after he attempted to elude troopers while on an ATV. A trooper on State Route 7 in Unadilla observed Joyce on an ATV as he passed an ambulance with its emergency lights activated and over a double solid yellow line. Joyce fled from the trooper, nearly striking a pedestrian. The pursuit was terminated In Bainbridge when Joyce drove onto railroad tracks & he tipped over. Joyce was arraigned in the town of Bainbridge Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond, pending court action on July 24, 2018.
State Police arrested 33 year old Ashlie Keesler of Downsville for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Child Under 15 or Under as Passenger, & Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test. A trooper on patrol observed Keesler and two children walking on State Highway 30 in Colchester, an investigation revealed that Keesler had been involved in an accident and her vehicle went over an embankment. Keesler and the children were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital. Keesler was arrested and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Colchester Town Court on August 7th.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 71 year old Phyllis Brown of Denver, New York for DWI, failure to maintain lane and failure to notify DMV change of address. The arrest was the result of a civilian report that Brown was driving erratically in the Village of Margaretville, nearly causing multiple collisions in the opposing lane of travel. Brown was released and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Middletown Court at a later date.

The 56th General Clinton Canoe Regatta was held over the Memorial Day weekend with over 1,000 paddlers participating. The popular 70 mile 2 person race was a close one, the team of Andy Triebold & Steve Lajoie won their 8th race by beating 2nd place finishers Serge Corbin & Guillaume Blaise by a little under 5 minutes, but the real excitement was the sprint to the finish for the 2nd place position, where Corbin & Blaise beat local pros Trever LeFever & Ben Schlimmer of Oneonta by 3 seconds. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy’s arrested 30 year old Connie Zachow of Franklin for 2nd degree Assault, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, escape and 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, after she allegedly struck a Deputy in Franklin. Zachow was arraigned at the Town of Sidney Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 secured bond, pending action in Town of Franklin court at a later date.

The Chenango County DPW announced that they will close County Route 37 between County Road 36 & Keach Road in the town of Guilford, on Tuesday May 29th. Crews will be replacing a large culvert, which could take between 7 & 10 days to complete. Detours are suggested along Marble Road & Keach Road, more information is available at 337-1710.
Chenango County Sheriff’s department arrested 2 Town of Pharsalia residents following an investigation into stolen property. Chenango County Sheriff’s Detectives and Deputies performed a search warrant on a property in the Town of Pharsalia; they discovered numerous items that were reported stolen, along with cultivated marihuana. 38 year old Todd Jackson was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance & Unlawful growing of cannabis. Jackson was arraigned in the Town of McDonough Court and released on his own recognizance. 34 year old Chelsea Evanoff was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful growing of cannabis, she was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Pharsalia Court on a later date.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Department arrested 36 year old Zane Marvin of Pitcher for criminal contempt and criminal mischief. Marvin was charged following an investigation into a complaint of an order of protection violation, after Marvin allegedly went to the residence of the protected party and kicked in the front door causing damage to the door. Marvin was arraigned in the Town of Pitcher Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $500 cash bail.

Governor Cuomo announced that more than $9.7 million has been awarded to 12 Southern Tier municipalities through Round 5 of the Restore New York Communities Initiative. Southern Tier Projects include the demolition of the former Endicott K-Mart, to redevelop that site, in the Town of Sherburne - $1,000,000 will be used for the restoration of the Sherburne Inn, in Johnson City, $942,300 will be used for the Remediation and rehabilitation of 19 Avenue B for the Southern Tier Agricultural Foundry Development & in Binghamton, $60,000 will be used to demolish blighted properties & turn the areas into a greenspace & to redevelop the site for an affordable housing development
Democratic Congressional candidate Anthony Brindisi announced that he will hold a series of town halls in the 22nd Congressional district. Live town hall meetings will be held on April 25th at 7:00 pm at the Norwich Family YMCA, & on May 21st at 6:00 pm at the American Legion at 177 Robinson Street in Binghamton. Brindisi is looking to unseat republican congresswoman Claudia Tenney in the November election.
32 year old Jillian Hren of Walton arrested Sunday by State Troopers for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance, after Troopers were called to the Mirabito gas station on Main Street in the village of Franklin, where they discovered Hren asleep in her vehicle with the engine running. Hren was released with appearance tickets for the Village of Franklin Court on April 10.
Officials with SFCU announced today that they will not hold their annual "Hometown Day Parade" again this June, due to the Main Street Revitalization project, and the inability to find a suitable alternative route. Plans call for the parade to be brought back in June of 2019, with the official announcement expected in the Spring of 2019.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 53 year old William Davis of Sayreville, New Jersey on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Franklin Court, for Criminal Contempt. Davis is accused of violating an Order of Protection last November. Davis was released on his own recognizance and is set to return to the Town of Franklin Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Cuomo leads actress Cynthia Nixon by a 66 to 19% margin, according to a Siena College poll released this week, The same poll also had Cuomo with a 2 to 1 advantage over both State Senator John DeFrancisco and possible Republican candidate Marc Molinaro

State Police arrested 54 year old Michele Bookhout of Schenevus, for Aggravated DWI with a B.A.C of .19%. Troopers were dispatched to a one-car rollover on State Highway 7 in the town of Milford, Troopers located Bookhout uninjured in her vehicle. Bookhout was issued tickets and released. She is scheduled to appear in the town of Milford Court on April 10, 2018.
State Police arrested 22 year old Rene Flowers of Oneonta for Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and 2 counts of Harassment, Troopers were called to Oneonta Job Corp, Flowers allegedly pushed, punched and choked 1 person & pushed another. Flowers was issued appearance tickets and released. He is due in the town of Oneonta Court on March 27th.
State Police arrested 34 year old Christopher Davis of Otego for Criminal Mischief and Criminal Contempt, after Troopers were called to a residence on State Route 357 in the town of Franklin for a dispute Monday. Troopers determined Davis had violated an order of protection and also damaged property, he was located in Cooperstown where he was arrested. Davis was issued appearance tickets and is due in the town of Franklin Court on March 22, 2018.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 50-year-old Robert Misner of Franklin following an investigation into a Hit & Run property damage accident at the Franklin Central School. Misner was operating a Subaru Friday evening on Institute Street in the Village of Franklin when the vehicle left the roadway, entered onto the Franklin School Campus and ran over shrubbery and decorative stones. Misner was subsequently ticketed for leaving the scene and failing to report a property damage accident.

Fire Fighters in Unadilla responded to a Fire at 42 Ontio Terrace in Unadilla Wednesday afternoon. The two story building was fully involved when crews arrived, Fire Fighters from Wells Bridge, Sidney, Franklin, Otego, Sidney Center responded, no injuries were reported, the investigation is continuing.
