The village of Morris will conduct its 38th annual community-wide Yard Sale Day on Saturday. The event will feature dozens of family sales, food tents, and vendors in the village park.

The 56th General Clinton Canoe Regatta gets underway tonight, through Monday Memorial Day. Tonight features the Generation Gap Races, & the Taste of the Regatta event, Saturday features the scout races, the Dan Elwood Memorial Walk/Run, A Wrestling tournament & the Hall Of Fame Inductions. Sunday will feature various races, the Regatta Music Festival & Regatta's Got Talent, & Monday will feature the 70 Mile races from Cooperstown to Bainbridge. Carnival Rides, the Flea Market & Craft Area will be open at General Clinton Park all weekend, Fireworks will be featured Saturday & Sunday Nights, sponsored by Acco Brands & NBT Bank respectively.
The Rolling Antiquer's Old Car Club of Norwich will have their Annual Car Show and Flea Market Saturday and Sunday at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich. Over 100 trophies will be awarded over the many classes on the 2 day event.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded to a 911 call of a domestic dispute April 29th at the East Branch Motel in Hancock. Deputies were notified that the victim had escaped from the suspect and was now locked in another room of the motel, she was removed from the scene and transported to Delaware Valley Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and later released. Deputies found 31 year old Donald Ostrander of Deposit in a wooded area, he was charged with Burglary, Strangulation, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Menacing, Unlawful imprisonment, Criminal mischief & assault, he was arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail pending further court action.
The Norwich City School District will hold their annual School Budget meeting today. The meeting will be held in the Norwich City School District office at 6:30 tonight, all school budget votes state wide will be held on May 15th.

Officials at Afton Motorsports Park announced that this Friday night will be a practice night & not a racing night. Practice will also be held on Monday May 7th.
The Otsego County Health Department announced that a Rabies vaccination Clinic for Dogs, Cats & ferrets, will be held tonight in Oneonta. The Clinic will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Neahwa Park.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office cleaned up “Tent City” which was located along the Chenango River behind the North Plaza on City of Norwich property. The Sheriff’s Office cleaned up between 50-60 used needles, 16 – 50 gallon sized garbage bags of garbage and other larger items that were left behind by the occupants. Clean up took several hours and involved the Norwich Fire Department, Oxford Fire Department and the City of Norwich DPW.
State DOT Officials announced that work has resumed on the $3.2 million rehabilitation of the East Bosket Road Bridge over County Route 28 in Windsor and State Route 17 in Sanford. The project, scheduled for completion this fall, will replace the concrete bridge deck and install new steel railings along each side of the structure. The approaches to the bridge also will be repaved.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brent McDaniel of Norwich after executing a search warrant Monday. McDaniel was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, he was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail pending additional court action.

Oneonta Police responded Friday night to the report of an 18 year old SUNY student, jumping naked from the top level of the Municipal Parking Garage & sustaining multiple injuries. The unidentified student was taken to Fox Hospital for treatment following the 10:30 PM incident.
Commerce Chenango will hold their Annual Report to the Membership Luncheon at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich today. The lunch will serve to recognize retiring business owner Hal Skillin of Skillin’s Jewelers.

Binghamton City Firefighters responded to a blaze at 38 Columbus Park East early this morning at about 1:30 AM. The building had been boarded up, but investigators believe that homeless people had been staying there. The fire was knocked down quickly, with heavy damage to the front of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation, no injuries have been reported.
The Chenango Arts Council announced that the opening Reception & the Lucy Funke Award Scholarship announcement would be moved from tomorrow at 5:30 PM to Friday March 9th at 5:30 pm. The Student art exhibit will be displayed as originally scheduled, at the Chenango Arts Council in Norwich.

26 school districts have been designated as fiscally stressed under State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s Fiscal Stress Monitoring System, which is a decrease from 59 districts that were listed in stress last year. None of the local schools were listed in significant stress, however 3 of the 7 are in “moderate fiscal stress” are local, they included the Norwich City School District, Harpursville central School & Schenevus central school. 17 schools were listed as “susceptible to fiscal stress”, which included Unatego & Oxford Academy. The highest percentages of stressed school districts were in Central New York with 8.3% and the Southern Tier 8.1%.
Firefighters in Downsville responded to a fire in a garage that exploded due to the storage of fireworks. Fire investigators believe that the fire started with the lighting of a torch, which spread to the nearby garage. The building was a total loss; fire fighters from Walton, & East Branch assisted Downsville firefighters.
The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant at 74 Park Avenue on Wednesday. Investigators seized crack cocaine, heroin, 40 envelopes of heroin packaged for sale, suboxone strips and $917 in suspected drug sales. Police charged 46-year-old Floyd Crockett of Binghamton with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, Crockett is being held at the City of Binghamton Police Department awaiting arraignment.
On Friday Norwich Police Department concluded an investigation into the sale of cocaine in the City of Norwich; they arrested 29 year old Heather Pollock, of Norwich for criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree. Pollock faces court action shortly.
