The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service is flushing water mains today though Wednesday on the low service. Areas affected include east Street from the Water Treatment plant, including streets along the east end, along the Center Street Corridor & over to West Street. Those with questions can call the department at 432-2100.
Chenango county sheriff’s deputies arrested 52 year old Kenneth Bingay of Sullivan County for DWI in the Town of Guilford. Bingay was stopped for operating a motor vehicle that was uninspected and was found to be intoxicated. Bingay was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on bail, he will reappear in the Town of Guilford Court at a later date.
Governor Cuomo announced that attendance at New York State Park campgrounds is on pace for another record-setting year, and reminded New Yorkers that many of the state's finest camping facilities are open for fall camping well into the autumn months. Through August 17, New York State Park campgrounds are on pace for the busiest year on record. Visitors have reserved more than 562,000 overnight stays at State Park campgrounds so far, marking a 5.2 percent increase over 2014. The record set last year was 594,441 overnight stays.

An accident in Otego on Sunday afternoon has left a Delaware County man dead and his wife severely injured. Otego Fire Department officials reported that the man and woman involved were apparently trying to drive a golf cart across the railroad tracks on a private agricultural crossing at the east end of the village and struck the Canadian Pacific train. The 2-engine train was pulling 31 freight cars. Oneonta State Police said that 57-year old Charles Turk of Bloomville was found dead under the overturned golf cart. His wife 58-year old Cynthia Turk was found lying nearby with 2 broken legs. Mrs. Turk was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. The investigation is continuing. She is listed in serious but stable condition at this time. The couple had been camping near the railroad tracks over the weekend. Medical personnel from Otego Fire and Rescue squads as well as Cooperstown Medical Transport, Otsego deputies and State Police all reported to the scene of the crash.
The City of Oneonta will be painting the deck of the Pedestrian Bridge adjoining the 2nd level of the parking garage to the Main Street arcade walkway beginning this morning, The bridge will be closed today & Tuesday, during that time, Main street can be accessed from the Muller Park Stairs or by lower Chestnut Street. The Matthews Auto Group held a ribbon cutting at the Grand Re-Opening of the newly remodeled Matthews Ford dealership and the Grand Opening of the new Quick Lane in Norwich this morning. The family of Former Tri-Town News Publisher, Ken Paden announced that a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 1:00 PM at the Sidney American Legion at 22 Union Street. The state DEC Announced that local governments and non-profit organizations in the Catskill region received $400,000 in Catskill Smart Growth Implementation grants. The grants will support projects in Catskill communities, in Delaware county, the Catskill Watershed Corporation will get $50,000 for the Catskill Park Wayfinding Sign Project, the Village of Fleischmanns will get over $45,000 for their Gateway Enhancement Project, the Town of Andes will get over $45,000 for the Ballantine Park Improvements Project.
