Norwich Police Department, in conjunction with New York State Parole concluded an investigation into the sale of narcotics, counterfeit currency and weapons. 28 year old Aaron Johnson of Norwich is charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument, Possession of a Narcotic Drug with intent to sell (Fentanyl), Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell (Methamphetamine) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police were able to locate quantities of Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl, plus counterfeit U.S. Currency. Johnson was held without bail, pending further court proceedings.
State Police, fire and emergency responders were dispatched to a 1-vehicle crash in the town of Andes. An investigation at the scene determined that a vehicle was traveling south on Fall Clove Road when it exited the roadway, striking a tree head-on. The operator, 43 year old Harland Dye of Delancey and the passenger, 34 year old Kate Cornelius-Schecter of Brooklyn, were transported to O’Connor Hospital, Dye was pronounced deceased at the hospital, Cornelius-Shecter was transported to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 29 year old Shawn Roach of Norwich for Criminal Contempt Friday. Roach is accused of violating a full stay away order of protection, by entering the victim's residence where an argument ensued, and Roach threatened the victim several times, and damaged the door when the victim locked him out. Roach fled on foot, and while deputies were on scene taking a statement from the victim, he called the victim twice, violating the order of protection again, he was located & was taken into custody without incident, he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.
The American Red Cross asks donors to give blood or platelets now to help those in need enjoy the rest of the holiday season, Donors with type O negative blood are especially urged to give now so patients can continue to receive the care they count on in the coming weeks. Those who come to give blood today through January 3rd, will receive a Red Cross T-shirt, those who come to give Jan. 1-26, 2025, during National Blood Donor Month, will be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 30 year old Dimitri Grassi of Greene for 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 1count of Criminal Sale of a Firearm and Manufacture, Transport, Disposition and Defacement of Weapons. Grassi is accused of selling a fully automatic firearm to an Undercover Detective, he also possessed and sold a weapon with a high-capacity magazine, with partially removed serial numbers. Grassi was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Grassi was later released and is to appear in the Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 52 year old John Standish of Owego for multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon, after Investigators discovered that Standish was manufacturing ghost guns and was in possession of firearms that are not NY SAFE ACT complaint, high-capacity magazines and silencers and that Standish does not possess a pistol permit and cannot lawfully possess a firearm. Investigators learned that Standish was using 3D printers to illegally make parts for the ghost guns. Standish was arraigned & faces future court action.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18 year old Connor Ashton of Deansboro for Torturing or Injuring Animals/Failure to Provide Sustenance. Ashton was arrested following an investigation of an animal cruelty complaint from Sherburne. Ashton was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Sherburne Court on a later date.
18 year old John Koscinski of Utica was found safe, he was reported missing from SUNY Cobleskill, the State Division of Criminal Justice reported that Koscinski had been missing since Wednesday.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 44 year old David Wells of West Winfield for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Inter-lock Device & Speeding, among other charges, following following a traffic stop in the Town of Edmeston. Wells was found to be operating the vehicle without an ignition interlock device installed as required per a court order & with a revoked driver's license, he was issued an Appearance Ticket for Edmeston Town Court at a later date.

State Police announced that No arrests were made during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Troop “C” in Chenango County Monday. During the initiative, 14 businesses were checked. All 14 were in compliance and did not sell alcohol to an under-aged operative. the businesses that were checked were located in Norwich, Oxford & Greene.
The Norwich Chapter of the St. Baldrick's Foundation will hold a fundraising raffle this Friday & Saturday at Hidden Springs Brewery in the town of Norwich. Organizer Jamie Burchill explains:

Burchill said that they are already gearing up for next year's St. Baldrick's event in March, last year they raised of $50,000 dollars with the event, to raise money to fight Childhood Cancer.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the Broome County Department of Social Services, announced that a homeless man that was living in a bus stop in the town of Dickinson, has returned home to his family. Earl Sutton had been living at the bus stop shelter where numerous people attempted to help him access various community services and find a permanent residence, but he refused any assistance. Sheriff Fred Akshar directed the Broome County Sheriff’s Office team to locate and contact Sutton's family, they found his Uncle James Sutton, in Toledo, Ohio, Officers found out that Earl Sutton had been missing for 2 years, earlier he had a bike accident that left him Mentally challenged, he had stopped taking his medication and disappeared. On September 8th, Earl Sutton went home to Ohio.

In July, uniformed Broome County Deputies and members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force conducted a targeted enforcement within the Village of Endicott, focusing on the trafficking and distribution of weapons and narcotics. The targeted crime response during that month yielded a grand total of 20 felony arrests and 19 misdemeanor arrests were made, nearly all involving weapon and narcotics possession or distribution. 3 illegal shotguns and 1 illegal handgun were also confiscated during the targeted enforcement period in the Village of Endicott. During the same time frame, The Task Force also conducted 3 search warrants in the Village of Endicott, leading to a total of 17 felony charges and 10 Misdemeanors.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian-train accident that occurred Monday night near the area of South Kelly Avenue in Endwell and resulted in the death of an adult male. The Broome County Sheriff's Office will provide further updates as the investigation concludes.
Delaware County Public Health has a Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For dogs, cats and ferrets today from 5PM-7PM, at the Stamford Fire Hall, more information is available at 607-832-5200 or delawarecountypublichealth.com.
19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro announced $180,000 is being delivered to Margaretville Memorial Hospital to address the shortage of Emergency Medical Services personnel in Delaware County. The funding is available through the Department of Health and Human Services, Margaretville Memorial Hospital will expand EMS training opportunities through its partnership with Delaware County EMS and SUNY Cobleskill.

State Police & The Norwich City Police are investigating a situation where an individual entered the Chenango Memorial Hospital Today in need of medical attention from a gun shot wound. Proper protocols were followed at the hospital, Area Schools were also locked down, the public is not in imminent danger, this is an ongoing investigation.
The Greater Oneonta Historical Society’s 16th Annual Live Benefit Auction will be held next Friday, October 28 at the Quality Inn on Route 23 at 5:30 pm. Catholic Charities in Sidney is continuing to collect items for their “Winter Clothing Drive” to help families in need as the winter approaches. New or Gently used winter coats, gloves, hats can be dropped off at the Sidney Catholic Charities office at 21 Liberty street, Offices in Oneonta & Cobleskill are also collecting.
The Sidney Elks Lodge will hold a Veterans' information & Services day on November 2nd at their facility at 104 River street. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, more information or reservations are available by calling 563-2175.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that nearly $30 million has been awarded to help increase capacity at more than 400 existing state-licensed, registered, or permitted child care programs that are located in underserved areas of the state. In the Southern Tier, 12 awards will be issued, totaling over $620,000.
New Yorkers enrolled in the SNAP will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for October. All households participating in SNAP — including those already at the maximum level of benefits — will receive a supplemental allotment this month, resulting in a roughly $234 million infusion of federal funding into the State economy.

State Police arrested 66 year old Raymond Sidlauskas of Afton for 2nd degree Arson, for intentionally setting a trash can on fire and caused tens thousands of dollars of damage to a Bassett Hospital room and medical equipment. Several rooms were evacuated due to the fire and over a dozen patients, including nurses and a security guard were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was extinguished by employees at the hospital. Sidlauskas was arrested and was transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
Otsego Express public transit routes will start charging fares again in November. Over the last 6 months, Otsego County subsidized fares for passengers and funded the program with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
The Community Cultural Center of Sidney will have an Open Mike Night tonight at 8:00 PM, followed by the next Comedy Night this Saturday Night, Theater Manager Dennis Walrath explains:

Town of Colchester Police announced that 81 year old George Fredericks of Roscoe died in a Sunday afternoon car crash. Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of a 2-car, head-on crash at about 12:38 pm. on Delaware County Route 7 near Hill Top Lane in Colchester. Fredericks was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2nd vehicle, 49 year old Angelo Zayas and a passenger were taken to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for treatment of their injuries. the preliminary investigation reported that Fredericks crossed over into the opposing lane striking the Zayas vehicle, both vehicles were engulfed in flames. The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested Level 2 Registered Sex Offender Martin Planty Jr. last week for failure to register as a sex offender. Planty is accused of failing to notify the Sheriff’s Office of his change of address within 10 days; Planty has been convicted of 2 prior sex offenses in 2 separate states, Planty was arraigned in Town of Walton Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $1,500.00 cash bail, $2,500.00 bond, and $5,000.00 partially secured bond, and will reappear in the Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 46 year old James Amato of Downsville for driving with a suspended license. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 10 last Thursday in the Town of Walton, failing to maintain lane position. Deputies stopped the vehicle, they discovered that Amato’s Driver’s License was suspended for Insurance Not in Effect and Dishonored Check. Amato was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & Failure to Keep Right. Deputies discovered that there was an active Bench Warrant for Amato’s arrest, issued by the Town of Hancock Court, for failure to appear to a prior Aggravated Unlicensed Operator charge. Amato was arrested on the Bench Warrant and additionally charged with Bail Jumping in the 3rd Degree, relative to that Warrant. Amato was arraigned in the Town of Walton and, despite the District Attorney’s request for bail to be set, was released on his own recognizance.

Fox Hospital in Oneonta, the Tri-Town Campus in Sidney, Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, and O’Connor Hospital in Delhi. Binghamton Police announced the arrest of 42 year old Leor Kweller of Brooklyn, who is the brother of Colonial restaurant owner Yaron Kweller, both men have been charged now with 3rd-degree rape. Both Kwellers & 33 year old Jordan Ringden of Binghamton, have been charged in connection with an incident in November at 141 Washington Street, the investigation is continuing.
State Police are looking to identify a man in surveillance video captured at the Walmart in the town of Oneonta. Police reported that On February 26th, at approximately 8:40 AM, the man exited the store with a cart full of items that he did not pay for & he left in a pick up truck, anyone with information should contact State Police at (607)561-7400. Town of Colchester Police announced that 81 year old George Fredericks of Roscoe died in a Sunday afternoon car crash. Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of a 2-car, head-on crash at about 12:38 pm. on Delaware County Route 7 near Hill Top Lane in Colchester. Fredericks was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2nd vehicle, 49 year old Angelo Zayas and a passenger were taken to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for treatment of their injuries. the preliminary investigation reported that Fredericks crossed over into the opposing lane striking the Zayas vehicle, both vehicles were engulfed in flames. The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested Level 2 Registered Sex Offender Martin Planty Jr. last week for failure to register as a sex offender. Planty is accused of failing to notify the Sheriff’s Office of his change of address within 10 days; Planty has been convicted of 2 prior sex offenses in 2 separate states, Planty was arraigned in Town of Walton Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $1,500.00 cash bail, $2,500.00 bond, and $5,000.00 partially secured bond, and will reappear in the Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 46 year old James Amato of Downsville for driving with a suspended license. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on State Highway 10 last Thursday in the Town of Walton, failing to maintain lane position. Deputies stopped the vehicle, they discovered that Amato’s Driver’s License was suspended for Insurance Not in Effect and Dishonored Check. Amato was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & Failure to Keep Right. Deputies discovered that there was an active Bench Warrant for Amato’s arrest, issued by the Town of Hancock Court, for failure to appear to a prior Aggravated Unlicensed Operator charge. Amato was arrested on the Bench Warrant and additionally charged with Bail Jumping in the 3rd Degree, relative to that Warrant. Amato was arraigned in the Town of Walton and, despite the District Attorney’s request for bail to be set, was released on his own recognizance.

The budget, as unveiled by the Governor, totals 216.3 billion dollars, lawmakers have until April 1st to get the budget passed on time.
The Otsego County Department of Health reported their 100th death from COVID 19 in their latest report. The County has had 5 deaths already this year, they reported 128 new cases, and they have 8 hospitalized and a positivity rate of 16.8% over the previous 7 days.
The State Department of Health today announced the publication of the largest comparative study of its kind on immunity to COVID-19 from vaccines and from previous infection. The study, based on 32 million cases, found that both vaccination and a prior infection provided protection against future infection and hospitalization. The study concluded that becoming vaccinated and staying up-to-date with booster doses remains the most effective and only recommended way to gain immunity to COVID-19. Governor Kathy Hochul today announced more than $12 million added to the Drive Clean Rebate program to help consumers save up to $2,000 on the purchase of an electric vehicle and $2.7 million awarded to local governments to purchase electric vehicles and install zero-emission charging stations for public use to address climate change. The Rebates range from $500 - $2,000, they are available on more than 60 models of vehicles and consumers receive higher rebates for the purchase or lease of longer range, all-electric vehicles with a base Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price of less than $42,000. U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced $420,000 in federal funding to develop and implement regional economic development strategies throughout New York State. The funding was allocated through the Economic Development Administration and will promote public-private partnerships to diversify and strengthen regional economies in New York. The Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board receives $70,000 for the Development and implementation of economic development strategies for 8 counties, 129 towns, 54 villages and the cities of Binghamton, Ithaca, Cortland, Oneonta, and Norwich.

Delhi Firefighters responded Wednesday evening to a fire at 161 Main Street in the village, at a homeless shelter. 4 occupants escaped without injury, the building is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
More than a dozen Fire Departments responded to a blaze at 116 Franklin Avenue Extension in the Town of Fenton early this morning. The fire was reported at about 1:40 AM, there are no injuries reported, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced New York State's success in awarding $900 million in Child Care Stabilization Grants to child care programs statewide. The grants are part of a $2.3 billion package of investments in New York State's child care industry funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act and Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) awarded funding to nearly 15,000 eligible child care providers over four months, from August through November. Over 219 Million Dollars will go to the Southern Tier Counties child care programs.

New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement after a jury voted that Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and its affiliates were liable for the public nuisance charges made by New York state in its opioid trial in State Supreme Court: A subsequent trial will be held to determine how much Teva and others will be required to pay. Attorney General James has already negotiated deals with Johnson & Johnson, McKesson, Cardinal Health, and Amerisource Bergen for a global value of approximately $26 billion, the cases against Mallinckrodt and Rochester Drug Cooperative are now moving separately through U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
The Center for Agricultural Development & Entrepreurships Farmer' Survey deadline is tomorrow. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and allows farmers to identify their top food system priorities. The survey represents the 2nd phase of CADE’s data collection process, from 17 focus groups which were conducted between March and October in partnership with Cornell University, SUNY Cobleskill, and other researchers. A single male suspect demanded the teller to hand over an undisclosed amount of money, he is described a 5’8 to 6’ tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants and is about 220-250 pounds with a heavy build. He was last seen walking in an easterly direction on Wall Street. The public is encouraged to contact the Oneonta Police Detectives with any additional information at (607) 432-1111.

The State Department of Labor released preliminary local unemployment rates for November. Locally, Chenango County had 3.4% unemployment, Otsego & Delaware Counties both had 3.5%, the State's unemployment rate dropped 3/10th's to 6.6% in November.
Bassett Healthcare Network announced today that Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and Cobleskill Regional Hospital have been placed on a state-wide list of facilities that currently have occupancies of 90% or more; A.O. Fox Hospital and Little Falls Hospital remain on that list. Those impacted facilities are also limiting non-essential elective procedures in accordance with an executive order enacted by the New York State Department of Health on December 3rd. Capacities at affected hospitals are being reassessed every 2 weeks. With rising cases of COVID-19 in the region, Bassett Healthcare Network will suspend visitation for the safety of patients and staff in all emergency departments across its network starting Wednesday.
Chenango County Health Department reports the continued increase in the number of COVID 19 cases in the county. The county has 301 active cases with 2/3rds unvaccinated, 523 are quarantined, 13 are hospitalized, all are unvaccinated, and there have been 92 COVID related deaths since the start of the pandemic. Deborah Stanley has been named as interim SUNY Chancellor, after current Chancellor Jim Malatras resigns on January 14th. Malatras announced his resignation after disparaging text messages from Malatras were sent to then Governor Andrew Cuomo about one of Cuomo's sexual harassment accusers.
Otsego County Sheriff Rich Devlin announced the temporary closure of 2 housing units within the Jail today due to critically low staffing levels after consulting with the the State Commission of Correction, he talked to WCDO News about the need for positive changes coming from the Otsego County Board of Representatives:

Sheriff Devlin stated that this is the 2nd facility shutdown in as many years, and he hopes that next year will bring more realistic discussion about the future of the Department of Corrections.

Firefighters from Unadilla, Franklin, Wells Bridge, & Otego responded to a fire last night at 10:30 PM, at 43 Watson Street in Unadilla. The House and garage were fully involved, adult and 2 children were being treated for smoke inhalation, the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Unadilla Fire Department has posted a list of items the displaced residents need following the fire, it is posted on the Unadilla Fire Department Facebook page.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that she is making $65 million available to counties across New York State to help with the costs associated with administering vaccines and boosters and enforcing the mask-or-vaccine mandate for indoor public places that went into effect statewide last week. Up to $1 million will be available for most counties, with larger counties eligible to receive up to $2 million.
The State Health Department tested over 258,000, with 23,391 testing positive, for a Positivity rate of 9.04%. Patient Hospitalization are up to 4,020, with 769 in an ICU bed, and Patients on ventilators is up to 451, New deaths reported by healthcare facilities was 60 on Sunday.
Delaware County Public Health reported 77 new cases of COVID 19 Saturday through Monday, there are 263 active cases, 4 hospitalized & 533 in quarantine.
Visitation is suspended at Otsego County Correctional Facility until further notice due to the increase in COVID cases in the area, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. Otsego County Health Department reported 21 new cases Monday, there are 320 active COVID-19 cases, 12 people are hospitalized & there were 2 new deaths reported.
Assemblyman Joseph Angelino announced $25,000 in funding to the Four County Library System to support libraries within the 122nd Assembly District. The most recent state budget allowed each legislator to submit aid requests on behalf libraries within their districts. The Sidney Memorial Public Library will receive $5,000, to purchase new technology items such as virtual reality headsets and a 3D printer. Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Deposit man on an arrest warrant issued by the Delaware County Family Court, for a violation of the Family Court Act. 47 year-old Patrick Stanton of Deposit was located On December 10th, by Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies, along with members of the Broome County Sheriff's Office, at a Village of Deposit location. Stanton was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail & is scheduled to appear at the Delaware County Family Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The State Department of Labor released preliminary local unemployment rates for November. Locally, Chenango County had 3.4% unemployment, Otsego & Delaware Counties both had 3.5%, the State's unemployment rate dropped 3/10th's to 6.6% in November.
Bassett Healthcare Network announced today that Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and Cobleskill Regional Hospital have been placed on a state-wide list of facilities that currently have occupancies of 90% or more; A.O. Fox Hospital and Little Falls Hospital remain on that list. Those impacted facilities are also limiting non-essential elective procedures in accordance with an executive order enacted by the New York State Department of Health on December 3rd. Capacities at affected hospitals are being reassessed every 2 weeks. With rising cases of COVID-19 in the region, Bassett Healthcare Network will suspend visitation for the safety of patients and staff in all emergency departments across its network starting Wednesday.
Chenango County Health Department reports the continued increase in the number of COVID 19 cases in the county. The county has 301 active cases with 2/3rds unvaccinated, 523 are quarantined, 13 are hospitalized, all are unvaccinated, and there have been 92 COVID related deaths since the start of the pandemic. Deborah Stanley has been named as interim SUNY Chancellor, after current Chancellor Jim Malatras resigns on January 14th. Malatras announced his resignation after disparaging text messages from Malatras were sent to then Governor Andrew Cuomo about one of Cuomo's sexual harassment accusers.
Otsego County Sheriff Rich Devlin announced the temporary closure of 2 housing units within the Jail today due to critically low staffing levels after consulting with the the State Commission of Correction, he talked to WCDO News about the need for positive changes coming from the Otsego County Board of Representatives:

Firefighters from Unadilla, Franklin, Wells Bridge, & Otego responded to a fire last night at 10:30 PM, at 43 Watson Street in Unadilla. The House and garage were fully involved, adult and 2 children were being treated for smoke inhalation, the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Unadilla Fire Department has posted a list of items the displaced residents need following the fire, it is posted on the Unadilla Fire Department Facebook page.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that she is making $65 million available to counties across New York State to help with the costs associated with administering vaccines and boosters and enforcing the mask-or-vaccine mandate for indoor public places that went into effect statewide last week. Up to $1 million will be available for most counties, with larger counties eligible to receive up to $2 million.
The State Health Department tested over 258,000, with 23,391 testing positive, for a Positivity rate of 9.04%. Patient Hospitalization are up to 4,020, with 769 in an ICU bed, and Patients on ventilators is up to 451, New deaths reported by healthcare facilities was 60 on Sunday.

Assemblyman Joseph Angelino announced $25,000 in funding to the Four County Library System to support libraries within the 122nd Assembly District. The most recent state budget allowed each legislator to submit aid requests on behalf libraries within their districts. State Police arrested 2 people after a Trooper witnesses 1 man chasing another with a baseball bat in Unadilla January 26th. The suspect with the baseball bat ran to the Unadilla House after seeing the trooper, the victim, 26 year old Justin Cirigliano of Bainbridge was taken to AO Fox Hospital Tri Town Campus in Sidney, he was found to be in possession of a syringe, & was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & was will appear in the town of Unadilla court. State Police arrested 44 year old Daniel Racquet of Unadilla for 2nd degree Assault & Menacing, after he was located at an unrelated incident and was hiding in a closet. Racquet was transported to Otsego County Central Arraignment and Processing.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the report of a disabled vehicle on State Highway 206 on February 10th, they assisted 61-year-old Victor Passela of Arkville, who ran out of gas, the vehicle’s registration and Passela's driver’s license were both suspended, Deputies issued Passela traffic summonses for aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and failure to surrender his suspended license and registration, plus several other charges. Passela will appear in the Town of Tompkins Court on a later date.
State Police arrested 37 year old Justin Lopez of Richfield Springs for Possessing Sexual Performance by a Child, following a cyber tip and a subsequent investigation, Lopez was arrested at his residence, he was processed at the State Police barracks in Richfield Springs, he was released & was ordered to appear for arraignment at the town of Richfield court on February 24th.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order extending the closing time for bars, restaurants, gyms and fitness centers, casinos, billiard halls, as well as other State Liquor Authority-licensed establishments. The extension started over the weekend and it amended the closing time for those businesses from 10:00 to 11:00 PM.

Otsego County Department of Health is announcing a potential COVID 19 exposure at the Copper Fox at 7 Market Street in Oneonta. Anyone who spent time at the bar between November 12th through November 17th should monitor for symptoms, if you have developed symptoms, get tested and isolate yourself. The Copper Fox is closed for a minimum of 7 days and all staff will be tested, more information is available at 547-4231.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-car property damage accident on State Highway 206 in the Town of Colchester last Friday, where a vehicle and trailer driven by 32-year-old Stephen Depuy of Downsville was making a turn from State Highway 206 on to Hill Top Drive when his trailer was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 84 year-old Eugene Marner of Franklin. Deputies charged Depuy with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and being an unlicensed driver. Marner was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent. Both drivers were released on traffic summonses directing them to appear in the Town of Colchester Court on a later date to answer their charges.

People have been captivated by the story of the little owl that was transported to New York City from West Oneonta last week, on the Tree that is being set up for the Christmas holidays in Rockefeller Center. Susan O'Hanley of the Delaware Otsego Audubon Society told WCDO News that they believe that the owl was on the tree through the whole process & made the trip to the city:

Otsego County Department of Health reported 18 new COVID cases Wednesday, the number of cases in the county since March is up to 1128, with 58 active cases, 1 hospitalized, 8 deaths, 760 cases are now linked to SUNY Oneonta & 67 at Hartwick College.
Delaware County Public Health had 3 new cases of COVID 19 to report Wednesday, with 53 active cases, 6 are hospitalized, and 197 are quarantined. Delaware County has had 289 cases, 227 recoveries & 9 deaths.
Oneonta City School District was made aware of a positive COVID-19 staff member at the Oneonta Middle School, several staff members are close contacts to 2 additional positive COVID cases resulting in quarantines through the Thanksgiving break. All Oneonta schools will go fully remote beginning today through at least Monday, November 30th.
The Norwich High School and Middle School will have remote instruction today, after the District discovered a positive COVID-19 student case at the high school, and a middle school teacher's family member had tested positive. The buildings will be closed today for contact tracing and deep cleaning, and they are working with Health officials in order to re-open for in-person instruction on Friday. The Gibson and Browne Elementary schools will remain open, and will follow the normal schedule.

A trooper was assisting Broome County Sheriff’s with a traffic crash on Interstate 81 northbound near milepost 34.5 in the town of Lisle. The marked State Police vehicle was on the right side of the road with all of its emergency lights activated when it was sideswiped by a tractor trailer without stopping. Gillibrand said that a plan to adjust the Unemployment benefit to 70% of each unemployed workers salary could not be implemented by this weekend, as the additional math, & the antiquated systems many states employ, could take months for people to get their benefits.
State Police arrested 32 year old Aaron Collins of Barton as a fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania where he was wanted on attempted criminal homicide charges. Collins was located by troopers and deputies from the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department in the town of Barton; he was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Collins was remanded to the Tioga County Jail where he is waiting for extradition to Pennsylvania.
The State Health Department announced 715 more positive COVID 19 tests Tuesday, bringing the state toll up to 413,593. there were 6 deaths attributed to the virus Tuesday, bringing the state toll up to 25,132.
The Broome County Health Department announced that their COVID 19 positive test numbers continue to climb, they are now up to 963 positives, with more than 150 announced in the last 2 weeks alone. They report 66 deaths & 763 recoveries since March & 750 people are being monitored by the Broome Health Department.
Chenango County Public Health announced today that they had 9 more positive cases & are now up to 203 cases of COVID 19 since March, with 153 current quarantined, 1 Active Hospitalization, 185 Recoveries, they have just over 16,000 tests performed.
Otsego County Department of Health announced that they will have a testing site this Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, at the Exeter Town Barn on State Highway 28 in Schuyler Lake. The testing site is limited to people who are NOT sick, but want to be tested for the Coronavirus, The testing will be by a nasal swab. The testing site will be drive up only, individuals are required to stay in their vehicle & wear a face mask. Pre-Registration is required at 547-4279.
Village of Sidney crews will be closing Delaware Avenue from Union Street to Pearl Street West to install a new water main, starting tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM & they are aiming to complete the project late Friday afternoon, local residents will have access to their homes during the project.
The City of Oneonta announced that crews will be milling and paving streets beginning at 7:00 AM tomorrow until 4:00 PM Friday. Cobleskill Stone Products will start on Church Street from High Street to Franklin Street, and then to Ravine Parkway from West Street to SUNY Oneonta and the Ravine Parkway Spur, they will conclude at Neahwa Place from Main Street to Bernier Circle. On-street parking will not be permitted on those streets. Road and driveway access will be limited during and immediately after the operation. City of Oneonta officials said Tuesday the top level of the city parking garage will be closed for cleaning and maintenance from 6:00 AM tomorrow until 6:00 AM Thursday, the stairwells and pedestrian bridge to Main Street will remain open. Otsego County Department of Health reported that they have had 30 confirmed cases of COVID 19 in June & July, with 9 cases in June and 21 in July. Of those 30 cases, 18 were female and 12 male, 4 individuals were hospitalized, all were 60 years or older. There are currently 10 active cases in 7 different households; no link between households has been identified. 3 new cases were reported Tuesday, giving the County 99 total confirmed cases, 3 people are hospitalized, 5 have died, 84 have recovered and 219 people on quarantined.
Delaware County received 1 new positive COVID-19 case Tuesday, giving them 8 active cases. To date there have been 93 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, with 36 people under mandatory quarantine and 6 people under precautionary quarantine, 7 people are isolated at home and 1 is isolated in the hospital, 6 people have died and 79 have fully recovered.
