The 27th annual Sidney Federal Credit Union Hometown Day Parade will be held on Saturday June 13th. SFCU Spokesperson Elise Glassett explains:

The parade will start at 12:00 noon, & it will run from the Sidney High School, down Main Street to River Street & will conclude at Keith Clark Park.
Retired SUNY Oneonta administrator & Foothills Performing Arts Center Board President and Executive Director Carol Blazina has died at the age of 70 after a recent illness. Blazina recently won the Eugene Bettiol Distinguished Citizen award from the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, No funeral services are scheduled, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Esterline confirmed that they are closing Norwich Aero, and will layoff about 120 remaining employees. Norwich Aero will move its manufacturing facility to Mexico. Esterline officials announced last year that a restructuring was planned, earlier this year they announced that the Norwich facility would likely close.
The Cancer Services Program of Delaware Otsego & Schoharie counties will bring the Bassett Mobile Screening Coach to Sidney later this month, to a variety of tests for those who are insured or underinsured. Spokesperson Stephanie Thorne said that the colorectal screening test is a take home kit:

Governor Cuomo today announced $11 million in grants to build, improve and preserve affordable housing for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers. The 61 awards across the state's 10 regions were given to municipalities and not-for-profit organizations to help support community priorities, keep people in their homes and expand local opportunities for affordable housing. The Southern Tier will receive $2.15 million dollars through this program.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will award the recipients of the 2015 Annual Celebration of Business Awards tonight. The NBT Bank Distinguished Business of the Year goes to The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Carol Blazina is recognized as the Eugene A. Bettiol, Jr. Distinguished Citizen. The Quality of Life award is presented to Opportunities for Otsego. The Celebration will be held at the Hunt Union Ballroom on the State University Campus of Oneonta
The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in the Guilford School Cafeteria at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

Police agencies across the region are responding a number of accidents today attributed to the weather & slippery road conditions. All roads are open, police advise that if you must travel, leave extra time and drive with extra caution.

Gibson was in Walton Saturday for the annual Delaware County Fair Board Dinner.
Governor Cuomo announced that individuals and entities that defraud New Yorkers seeking immigration-related assistance would now be subject to felony or misdemeanor charges. Previously, there was no law specifically protecting newcomers from fraud, scams and exploitation, immigrants will now benefit from additional requirements for those providing them with assistance as well as stronger consumer disclosures.
State Police are investigating a grand larceny at the Oneonta Wal-Mart, January 25th at approximately 7:15pm. A suspect walked into the store and filled up a shopping cart with merchandise valued at over $1,100, then exited through a fire exit and left in a vehicle occupied by another suspect. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a dark baseball cap and a green long-sleeved shirt with writing on the back, the Vehicle description was a Chevrolet, possibly a Cavalier, dark blue in color, with unknown white NY license plates, a green sticker on the driver side of front bumper and missing the front driver side wheel hubcap. Police said that the merchandise stolen was an HP Desktop PC, Olympus digital camera, wireless Bluetooth speakers, headphones and a bucket. Anyone with information should call the State Police at 432-3212.
