State Police continue to investigate tips that will help locate the person or persons responsible for throwing 2 beagle mix dogs out of a moving vehicle on Wednesday, December 12th on I-81 in Marathon. Several local, state and national animal welfare agencies and private donors are now offering a total of $16, 500 reward leading to the conviction of the person(s) responsible after the case has gained national attention. Governor Cuomo today announced that more than $763 million in economic and community development funding has been awarded through Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. Locally, the Southern Tier RDC, which covers Delaware & Broome Counties, will get 65.4 Million dollars for various projects, Central New York, which includes Chenango County, receives 88.2 million dollars, and the Mohawk Valley region, which includes Otsego County, receives in 85.4 Million dollars.

NY State of Health announced that enrollment reached 4.7 million at close of business on December 15th, the deadline for January 1st 2019 coverage. Enrollment volumes in Qualified Health Plans and the Essential Plan outpaced last year’s levels with over 83,000 more people enrolled compared to last year.

Charter Spectrum will pay a record $174 million and refund customers in New York $62 million in a settlement over claims it defrauded internet subscribers. The settlement announced Tuesday by the State Attorney General's Office is the largest consumer payment by an internet provider in U.S. history. Charter Spectrum has agreed to provide some premium cable channels for free to customers as part of the deal, customers will each receive between $75 and $150, and they will also get streaming services and premium channels, with a retail value of over $100 million, at no charge for about 2.2 million active subscribers.

The Binghamton Devils donated over six barrels of non-perishable food to CHOW today with the help of team captain, Kevin Rooney. The food was collected from fans during the Put the Biscuit in the Basket food drive from November 28 to December 15, 2018. Totaling 1,415 pounds, the provisions will help feed Broome County families in need this holiday season.

Senator Fred Akshar will continue the second year of his district-wide "Akshar's All-Stars" student recognition program on Tuesday by recognizing students at one Broome County school and three Chenango County schools. Each month, Senator Akshar recognizes local students selected by their school districts in the 52nd Senate District who have shown great leadership, compassion, school spirit or improvement amongst their peers. State Police arrested 41 year old Brian Larson of Masonville for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, after Troopers observed the vehicle Larson was operating with an equipment violation on State Route 7 in Bainbridge. Larson was arrested then arraigned in the town of Bainbridge Court pending future court action.

Governor Cuomo today announced all schools in New York State have adopted plans to end "meal shaming" of students who do not have money for lunch. This is the latest success in the Governor's "No Student Goes Hungry" program, which addresses food insecurity by expanding access to free breakfast and farm-fresh foods as well as ensuring all students have access to school meals without fear of shame. The program also includes $1.5 million to expand the successful Farm-to-School program. All school plans have been posted on the schools' websites.

Governor Cuomo announced the strategic deployment of assets throughout the state as heavy rain and flash flooding are forecast for areas of the Southern Tier, Central New York, Mohawk Valley, Capital Region and Mid-Hudson Valley. Remnants of Tropical Depression Florence are hitting the state today; the DOT is setting up staging areas in Binghamton, & Oneonta locally in anticipation of the need for storm response, with a variety of heavy equipment ready to go if needed.
Some flash flooding is affecting local schools this morning. The Bainbridge Guilford, Oxford & Greene School Districts are closed today, & the Afton & Harpursville School districts are on a 1 hour delay, & the Laurens school district is delayed 2 hours.

Delaware County Sheriff's Department responded to the report of a man with a shot gun near the Charlotte Valley School Monday. The school was in lockdown while deputies investigated, the man with the shot gun was a hunter in the area behind the Davenport head Start, the lockdown was lifted, and no arrests were made.

Walton Central School Superintendent Roger Clough has been placed on administrative leave, the High School Principal Rob Knuschke & Assistant Principal Mark Lamoreaux & Middle School Principal Andy Gates have all resigned in recent weeks, following alleged misconduct by Clough while serving as Superintendent since 2013. State Police arrested 64 year old William Lindeborn of Windsor for 2nd degree Menacing, following a complaint of a man chasing another man with a baseball bat in the town of Windsor. Lindeborn is accused of raising a baseball bat at a male who was mowing lawns in the area. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned at Central Arraignment. Lindeborn was released on his own recognizance; an order of protection was issued to the victim.
BOCES Superintendent Perry Dewey released the list of events that led to yesterday's evacuation of the Norwich BOCES campus. At 9:25 AM, a written threat was discovered by administration, at 9:35 The police were called & the building evacuation began. The Students were moved to the BOCES Support Services Building, Students with special needs or medical needs were released at approximately 10:40 AM, by 1:30 p.m. all students had been released. State Police cleared the Chenango Campus building by 1:00 p.m. and it was confirmed safe and staff returned to the building by 1:30 p.m. School will resume today, including scheduled regents exams.

State Police arrested 43 year old Stephanie Spathelf of Coventry for Making a Punishable False Written Statement and Obstructing Governmental Administration. On July 1, troopers were dispatched to a 1 car rollover on State Highway 7 in Colesville, when they arrived, no one was in the vehicle, Spathelf told troopers someone else was driving the vehicle. Troopers learned that Spathelf was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, she was arrested July 9, & was arraigned at Central Arraignment and released on her own recognizance.

The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce announced that he Next “Reunite Bainbridge” Meeting will be held tonight.  The meeting will be starting at 7:00 PM, at Bob’s Diner.
The Sidney Central School Class of 2018 donated the remainder of its class funds to the Delaware Valley Humane Society.  The class presented a check to Erin Insinga of the Humane Society following graduation rehearsal on Friday afternoon.  The donation from the class was for $1,417.77.

Due to a Water Main Break, the Bainbridge Town pool will not be open until next Tuesday. Town Officials said that they expect the pool to open Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
Registration for the 8th annual summer camps at Sidney Central School is underway. 6 weeks of camps are set to begin the week of July 9-12, and end the week of August 13-16. Camps are for grades K-8, and run full days Monday-Thursday. Camp themes and topics include swimming, technology, athletics, photography, cooking, robotics, art, science, and many others. On Monday, at 9:30am, Senator Fred Akshar will join Harpursville Central School District staff and students to unveil a new playground at the Olmstead Elementary school. Senator Akshar was able to secure $135,000 in last year's State Budget for the improvements to make the playground accessible for children of all abilities.

13-year-old Melodie Loya from Bainbridge advanced to the Finals to be held this evening, at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland. Part 1 of the finals was completed this morning, where Melodie successfully advanced to the finals along with 40 other children. The finals can be viewed this evening starting at at 8:00 PM on ESPN. Loya competed last year that the Scripps National Spelling Bee, where she finished in the top 20.
The 69th annual Pageant of the Bands will take place Today through Sunday at Sherburne-Earlville High School. The pageant will feature 30 participating schools, and is expected to draw about 20,000 people to Sherburne, the event is free & open to the public.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department has issued an Amber Alert for Central New York, following a reported Child abduction in Sodus about 9:48AM on Wednesday. The child is 1 year old Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, a Hispanic Male, with short brown hair and brown eyes, about 2 feet long and about 30 pounds& may require asthma medication. Police believe that the infant may be in imminent danger of serious physical harm or even death. Anyone with any information is asked to call 866-NYS-AMBER or dial 911.
