Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 20th, to a 2 car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sidney, in which one driver had reportedly left the scene. With the assistance of the Village of Sidney Police Department, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Joshua Crisell of Sidney, and the vehicle was located at a residence in Sidney. Deputies charged Crisell with Reckless Driving, driving to left of pavement markings, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Crisell was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Sidney Town Court at a later date.
State Police issued 109 tickets during a four-hour long Operation Hard Hat detail within a work zone on Interstate 81 in the town of Chenango Thursday. The detail was a combined effort with the State Police and the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, Crews from the DOT were repairing the bridge rail over Front Street. The area is a 55mph zone and just the left lane was closed, while two others were still open to accommodate traffic. Troopers charged 27 for using cell phones while driving, 36 for speeding, 27 for no seat belt, 19 other cvarious tickets were issued.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 50 year old Adam Zuk of Masonville for his non-compliance to Family Court Order of Protection. On August 18th, Deputies o served Zuk with a Delaware County Family Court Order of Protection, he was advised that he needed to vacate the property, Zuk failed to comply, he was charged with Criminal Contempt, he was processed, arraigned & was released on his own recognizance. On August 20th, Deputies were advised that Zuk had attempted to make telephone contact with the protected party, he was charged with Criminal Contempt, he was arraigned and was being held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond.
The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual "Bainbridge Days" this Saturday throughout the village, Mayor Phil Wade explains:

Nomination forms can be found on the school district website norwichcsd.org, under the documents heading. Also, The Norwich High School Alumni Weekend Special will be held at the Norwich VFW Saturday night from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. The Beadle Brothers will perform & money raised will go the the Norwich Volunteer Fire Association & the Norwich VFW.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive Red Cross Blood Drive is being held today from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Delhi United Ministry, 1 Church Street, another will be on Saturday by the Bainbridge Rotary Club in the Town Hall from 9:30 to 2:00 PM. Schedule an appointment with the Red Cross App, at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office, Department of Health & The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee will host a Child Car Seat Safety Check Saturday at the Oneonta Home Depot on State Highway 28 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Certified Technicians will make sure that seats are installed properly & answer questionb particicpants in the Saturday event.
Bovina Farm Day returns this Sunday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, which offiers visitors an opportunity to connect with the land, meet local farmers, and experience Delaware County farm life. The event will be held on Crescent Valley Road in Bovina, more information ios available at farmingbovinaNY.org.

The Norwich Police Department, the Norwich City School District and the Vestal Police Department have teamed up to bring interested Norwich High School Students to the Youth Police Academy in Vestal this summer, Norwich Police Department School Resource Officer Nicholas Moody explains:

The Norwich High School Hall of Distinction Committee announced the 2025 induction ceremony will be on Labor Day Weekend, coinciding with Alumni Weekend, they will recognize and commemorate alumni of Norwich High Schools who have made outstanding contributions, according to spokesman Anthony Testani:

27 year old Alison Ward of Randolph, New Jersey appeared in the Town of Colchester and pleaded guilty to Driving While Intoxicated, Ward was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge, she will have to attend a Victim Impact Panel, complete an Impaired Driver Program, her license was revoked for 6 months, and an ignition interlock device will have to be installed on any vehicle she drives for a minimum of one year, if she violates the terms she could be re-sentenced to 1 year in jail. On July 14, 2023, Ward was pulled over by Town of Colchester Police after she crossed the double yellow line on State Highway 206, nearly striking a pickup truck head on, she failed Field Sobriety Tests at the scene.

State Police & Local Law Enforcement agencies will be out this weekend, for their annual Super Bowl patrols. Police will be looking for drunk and impaired drivers, distracted drivers as well as aggressive drivers. During the 2024 Super Bowl weekend campaign, law enforcement officers arrested 262 people for impaired driving and issued 8,388 total tickets.
Another Red Cross Blood Drive is being held today at the Franklin Fire Department from 12:30 PM TO 5:30PM. Appointments can be made at redcrossblood.org, by calling 1-800-redcross or using the Blood Donor App.
