State Police arrested 33-year-old Donald Wilber of Mount Upton for 2nd degree assault, criminal contempt, criminal mischief and menacing after troopers responded to a report of a physical dispute in Bainbridge Saturday Morning. Wilbur allegedly approached a vehicle stopped on Church Street, 1 of the occupants had an order of protection against Wilber, he is accused of striking the vehicle window with a baseball bat several times when the person would not leave the vehicle. The victim and the driver received head lacerations from the broken glass, Wilber was arraigned in the Town of Guilford Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond, he faces action in Town of Bainbridge at a later date.
State Police arrested 29 year old Jonathan Robinson of Laurens for 3rd degree criminal mischief, the arrest occurred after an incident in early September at the Morris Central School parking lot, where Robinson allegedly slammed his fists down on the hood of another driver’s vehicle after a dispute, causing over $750 worth of damage. Robinson was arraigned in the Town of Morris Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond.
The State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for September. The State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 4.8% to 5.0% in September, locally, Chenango County’s unemployment rate was at 4.7%, Delaware county was at an even 5%, & Otsego county had 4.4% unemployment in September.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department will hold a "Coffee With Cops” program on November 18th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Delaware County Public Safety Building in Delhi. “Coffee With Cops” will be an informal opportunity for Delaware County residents to meet and speak with members of the Sheriff’s Department about issues or concerns.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 23-year-old Melissa Bishop of Delhi, for operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration, Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Speeding, following a traffic stop in the Town of Walton. Bishop was issued tickets returnable in person to the Town of Walton Court at a later date, and subsequently released upon her own recognizance.

The Oneonta Downtown Reviltaization Intitiative meeting will be held this afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The meeting is open to the public, with public particicaption requested, the meeting will be on the 2nd floor of the Foothills Performing Arts Center.
The Chenango County Farm Bureau the 61st Annual Meeting is starting 6:30 PM Tuesday October 25, 2016 at the Silo. Senator Fred Akshar of the 52nd District, a representative from Senator Seward’s office and Assemblyman Cliff Crouch will be in attendance.
YES Safe Choices, from Senator Akshar and Lourdes Hospital will host more than 575 students from across the Southern Tier at their YES Ignites Training today at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel from 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM. YES LEADers are middle and high school students trained to provide substance abuse prevention education to elementary school students. By the end of the ‘16-’17 school year, more than 600 YES LEADers will present to over 6,000 elementary students in Broome, Tioga and Chenango Counties.
State Senator Jim Seward will be at the Mount Vision Fire Department station to announce a special state grant to help fund construction of a new fire station. The Announcement will be held at 7:00 PM at the Mount Vision Fire Department at County Highway 11B.

State Police arrested 34 year old Corey Maraglio of Oneonta, for criminal mischief, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, after he jumped into the passenger seat of a state troopers vehicle at a gas station, He appeared to be in a drug induced state and refused to get out of the patrol vehicle. Maraglio did get out, the trooper handcuffed him, placed him in the front seat, and Maraglio became aggressive and struck his head twice on the patrol vehicle computer screen breaking it. Additional troopers responded, Maraglio was transported to Fox Hospital, he had no injuries, he was arraigned in the Town of Oneonta court and was remanded to the Otsego County jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 property bond, pending future court action
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office & Walton Village Police Department, arrested 36 year old Wayne Hancarik of Walton Monday on felony drug charges following a “buy-bust” operation at Austin Lincoln Park and the execution of a search warrant at a Mead Street residence. Officers obtained a search warrant from the Delaware County Court following their investigation of a recent, non-fatal drug overdose associated with heroin being sold from 28 Mead Street. At the time of his arrest Hancarik was found to be in possession of heroin and Suboxone, he has been charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, among other charges. Hancarik is expected to face additional charges at a later time; he was arraigned and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bail pending further court action.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced a major agreement with 7 health insurance companies to revise their coverage policies for chronic Hepatitis C treatment. The agreement means that nearly all commercial health insurance plans in New York State will cover treatment for chronic Hepatitis C without requiring members to develop advanced stages of the disease with liver scarring, and will not deny coverage because the member uses alcohol or drugs, or because the authorizing physician is not a specialist.

Governor Cuomo today announced $17 million in awards to nonprofit organizations and municipalities to create more than 700 affordable homes and new home ownership opportunities throughout the state. An announcement for the Southern tier will include more than $1 million to improve and repair the homes of 46 residents in the Southern Tier; it includes $400,000 for Opportunities for Chenango, to provide rehabilitation and energy conversation measures to 16 low-income households.
Governor Cuomo today announced the expansion of the New York State Master Teacher Program. The current 623 Master Teachers have an average teaching experience of 14 years. To be eligible for application to the NYS Master Teacher Program, teachers must be certified New York State public school teachers in grades six through twelve, have a minimum of 4 years of experience teaching STEM subjects and must spend at least 60 percent of their time in the classroom teaching those subjects. Binghamton Mets New Owner John Hughes announced that the team would remain as a New York met Affiliate, but he is soliciting ideas from fans to rebrand the team & give it a new name synonymous with the Greater Binghamton Area. Hughes revealed the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets would play at NYSEG Stadium under a new name starting in 2017. The team will launch a “Name the Team” contest on Opening Day, April 7. Submissions will be accepted through April 25th, when the top 6 possible team names will be unveiled. Fans can vote for their favorite name for two weeks via the team website. The new official name of the Double-A Mets will be revealed in October 2016.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department announced that there will be a fundraiser this Sunday in Walton, to support their K9 Unit, which has been an integral part of the County’s crackdown on Drug dealers in the County. The fundraiser will be held on Sunday at Danny’s Restaurant at 14 Gardiner Place in Walton from 12:00 noon until 7:00 PM, donations can be made by check to Delaware County Sheriff Tom Mills, with “K9 Drug Fund” in the memo box. Doctor Stephen Benham of Sidney announced his retirement and the closing of his practice, effective march 24th after 32 years in Sidney. Doctor Benham will see patients until the March 24th date, at which point all of his patients medical charts will be transferred and located at the UHS Primary care building at 44 Pearl Street, across for Tri Town regional Hospital. The City of Oneonta Department of Public Service will be installing a new storm water collection system on Tilley Avenue & Walters street and they will be replacing an existing system on James Street, starting on march 15th. State Police reported that KyLea Fortner and her sister Shaeleen Fitch-Fortner, who were reported as teen runaways in April of 2015, were found at 327 Torrance Avenue in Vestal. Both girls were turned over to the Broome County Family Services. State Police received and investigated numerous leads, information was developed which indicated that they were present at the Vestal address. State Police arrested 29 year old Amanda Hellman of Vestal, for 2nd degree Kidnapping. Hellman is a family acquaintance of the victims, she was arraigned in Town of Vestal Court & was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail. State Police and local law enforcement will initiate special St. Patrick’s Day traffic enforcement efforts as celebrations begin this weekend. The effort will begin Saturday, and run through Thursday, drivers can expect a number of sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and underage drinking details during the campaign. State Police will also be ticketing distracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices. During the 2015 St. Patrick's Day weekend enforcement effort, Troopers made 264 arrests for DWI and issued more than 14,000 tickets.
With Daylight Savings Time approaching this weekend, The Firefighters Association of New York encourages all New Yorkers to test their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and ensure their homes are properly protected against fire.
